Afternoon all. Feeling totally crap after a week of bad sleep and a horrible cold and cough. Being very pathetic and lolling on the sofa. My nausea seems to have disappeared which is worrying me, but hopefully it's just because my stomach is so full of snot Envy

Kitkatmonster · 31/01/2016 16:11

Mine is here full force - 2x voms today. Second time I literally had to run from a conversation to the bathroom.

Sharesinpampers · 31/01/2016 17:03

Sorry, no experience with pain management clinics - hope you get the help you need.

With my first pregnancy constipation was one of the signs for me that I was pregnant. It is the only time in my life I drank prune juice but it worked a treat! And it actually tastes quite nice.

Glad I'm not the only one making good use of their tv licence 😀

peardrop2 · 31/01/2016 18:29

Wow that's amazing that the Harmony test picks up gender so soon!

To the lady asking about constipation...I was a lot worse in my first pregnancy but I am noticing since I've started to eat more rubbish that I am slowing down in that area Confused

Sorry that so many of you are feeling sick. My nausea kicks in at 11am and 6 pm but I'm lucky enough to just be feeling blurrrrr rather then actual sick. Hate talking about it though as it just makes me feel worse so I'll stop now!

3 more sleeps until my midwife appt whoop!

nailsathome · 31/01/2016 19:12

Granola is great for constipation.

I have the best dp ever. I was sent to bed at 3:30 for a nap whilst he had the 2 dcs. I was woken at 5:30 for a massive roast and have now been sent to bed again. I told him it was fine and that I wouldn't go to sleep again immediately but he said he wants me to relax without the children because he can't take away the tiredness or the nausea but he can give me time to recharge.

I can now hear him clearing up the kitchen. I feel so bad for staying in bed.

globetrotter2016 · 31/01/2016 19:15

fifi don't know what joint problems you usually have (?psoriatic arthritis ?EDS) but pain management can be tricky at the best of times and even more so when half the drugs become a no no due to little bean. While codeine is an opioid it only gets converted into that by your body (and some ppl don't convert it at all meaning it does sod all for their pain) and is actually a really really low dose. paracetamol is also ok in pregnancy. I would approach the pain clinic with an open mind- I know taking certain drugs for months does not sound appealing but you don't want to be in pain either or have a flare up of your joints and be in pain lifting babe when she finally arrives.

peardrop2 · 31/01/2016 19:17

Nail - awww that's lovely! My DH cooked dS tea tonight whilst I flopped on the sofa. Lovely when they do help out! Although I'm paying the price now as we're very behind bedtime Sad

Sproutingbean · 31/01/2016 19:51

Ahhh, it's lovely when DH/DPs help out so we can just chill. Growing a baby is hard work! I have managed to eat and eat today but am now finally full! Feel like the very hungry caterpillar! If I carry on like this I will be the size of a house by 12 weeks.

Sausage2229 · 31/01/2016 20:21

Peardrop2 I'm 3 sleeps too! I will be 8+6. My DP is amazing! He's been doing everything for weeks and been putting up with me doing nothing! Wish I could get a harmony test... Rubbish in the south west!

peardrop2 · 31/01/2016 20:34

Sausage - yay my midwife buddy Wink I'm not actually excited about any part of the appointment lesson learnt from first time disappointment but I really really want to know about the scan!!

peardrop2 · 31/01/2016 20:36

Oh and I'll be 9+4 at my midwife apt but she will date me as 10+4 Smile

FraterculaArctica · 31/01/2016 20:44

Think we will go for Harmony again, we did with DS. Still another 4 weeks before we'd do the first scan there though - seems a long way off.

Fifi10 · 31/01/2016 21:20

globetrotter yeah EDS coupled with tendonitis, bursitis and fibromyalgia. I've only in the past year had the underlying EDS diagnosed after 10 years of dislocations and pain so I don't know any other people who have then gone on to have children and what they did during the pregnancy. I guess I need to see what they say and weigh it up I feel at the moment I'm coping, my biggest worry is more when the baby comes and I can't lift or carry it!

peardrop2 · 31/01/2016 21:45

Omg Harmony is £500 plus Shock

Newtothevillage · 31/01/2016 22:13

Evening ladies,
I know most will be tucked up in bed by now (as I should be) so no urgency to answer but is anyone else suffering from acne? I have never been a spot prone person but at the moment I'm covered in spots.

genome · 31/01/2016 22:29

Same here annarose. Everything is moving slowly in the bowel area. I had lactulose in my other pregnancies and it did help. It has hit alot earlier this time as I only really suffered in the 3rd trimester last time. I think the advice is more fruit/prune juice/lactulose, rather than more fibre, as the problem is the slowing of the gut leading to more water being removed. I'm sure I was told that adding fibre doesn't usually help pregnancy constipation.

My joints have all given up too! My left knee has been trying to pop out for two weeks when i bend my knee or kneel down. The joint between my pelvis-spine has joined the party too now Shock

peardrop2 · 31/01/2016 22:49

New - I am Sad I had big huge spots when I found out at Christmas and then my skin cleared up and then this week bam, two big spots in the chin area. Really sore too. I read that this this is all lead to hormones and will settle again soon. I was wondering if it was linked to the crap I've been eating too Blush

I find that drinking double lots of water helps constipation. Fibre makes it worse for me.

Kitkatmonster · 31/01/2016 23:33

I have hidradenitis suppurativa (google it, but don't look at images). The best bit about pregnancy is (touch wood) it seems to suppress itself - at the moment I have zero flare ups which is unheard of for me over the last few years. So I guess I'm the opposite and have less spots!

Lilliana · 01/02/2016 03:41

new when I told my DH I was pregnant he said I know you have loads of spots!!

Thethingidontfancy · 01/02/2016 10:05

Morning all....

new yes to the spots! They did settle down a few months into last pregnancy though!

peardrop not sure if you are near London? The Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley St does a Harmony package (with two scans) for £400.

Feel so nauseous today - apparently week 9 is often the peak? Let's hope they are right because I am getting nothing done at the moment...

Had an early scan last week, dated 7+1, two sacs, one with heartbeat. Got to wait til next Monday for follow up scan to see if 1 or 2 onboard. Was looking unlikely that second would develop but not impossible.

Just wanted to say hi and add myself to the list Grin Anyone else having next to no symptoms at 6 weeks? Aside from tender breasts/sore nipples and weird sex dreams I don't really feel pregnant :( Booking in with midwife next week, will be under the care of her and an obstetrician, plus frequent scans thanks to health issues (which I can't complain about since I get to see baby more!). Oddly worried that they're going to turn around and tell me I'm not actually pregnant even though the doc already confirmed!

zeeka · 01/02/2016 11:35

Hi somewhere! I only feel pregnant when I feel sick, so I can relate to you! I now feel truly horrible, but a couple of weeks ago I felt a bit in limbo too.

I keep considering paying for a scan, but then talk myself out of it as I'd really prefer to save money for a holiday with the kids before it all gets crazy! I may give in soon though Smile

SomewhereInbetween · 01/02/2016 11:45

Thank goodness I'm not the only one! I had awful morning sickness so not really looking forward to that on one hand but on the other at least I'll finally feel something. Holiday sounds good, you planning anywhere nice? Wishing I could get away for a bit but travel/flying etc has been banned after three months and with work and school/nursery we won't have a chance to get away before then :(

0hCrepe · 01/02/2016 12:19

My nausea was vicious yesterday getting worse in the afternoon and I'm off work today with a bad cold but don't actually feel that sick at the moment so although I'm glad in a way I'm now kind of wishing it was back!

Seeing a friend tomorrow who's a trainee midwife. I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow based on LMP dates. Would it be unwise to ask her to try and find a heartbeat with a Doppler? When can you hear one from?

Annarose2014 · 01/02/2016 12:24

I seem to remember something about 9 weeks being the earliest from the last time. You'll just scare yourself silly if you do it too early.

When you do though remember what I said upthread - its down at your pubes in the first trimester!
