We're going to find out (if the bump plays ball) - it's the only request dh has for the pregnancy, I think it'll help him to start bonding with the baby earlier and from a practical point of view we'll know to freshen up all of dd's many baby outfits or send them to the charity shop.

We didn't last time because I had an image in my head of dh looking into my eyes adoringly and saying "it's a girl" while I looked glowing and radiant after my drug free water birth. Needless to say it couldn't have been further from that, and in the end when it all started to go tits up and my image started looking less and less achievable we took the opportunity to find out. It didn't stop it being a wonderful surprise to finally see her after all the anticipation Grin

MargaretCabbage · 29/01/2016 16:41

I think we'll be finding out the sex this time. Last time it was a surprise and I was expecting a magical moment when I found out but when I was told I actually didn't care, I was just glad he'd arrived safely - I may have been a bit out of it on loads of gas and air. At least I can enjoy finding out this time. Don't have any gut feeling about what this baby will be yet, but I would be very happy with a boy or girl.

bailey23 · 29/01/2016 16:47

I'm definitely finding out the sex! Obviously we don't mind either way but I'm hoping we're having a girl and DH is hoping for a boy. I can't wait to buy a load of cute outfits for them and decorate the nursery etc
My boobs are getting sorer and sorer every day, and I'm pretty sure they're growing - considering I'm a 34G to start with I don't want them to get too big, especially seeing as I'm only 7+2

Annarose2014 · 29/01/2016 18:12

We found out last time and will be finding out again.

It's lovely to find out! You spend the rest of the pregnancy daydreaming about your little boy/girl. You start bonding straight away!

Also helps if you're a bit nervous of having a certain gender. I was nervous of having a boy as I have no brothers etc but I was able to spend several months admiring baby boys in the street and falling in love with the idea!

(Also meant we could dispense with girls names which was a relief as they're so hard to choose)

Banana79 · 29/01/2016 18:12

Hi All

Can I join? I got my BFP on NYDay. Been on holiday so not seen Doc until tuesday for midwife referral..nervous I am going to be cutting it fine to get an NHS scan.

Based in Hampshire

GuessHowMuch · 29/01/2016 19:30

We're not going to find out the gender. We didn't last time and it was really nice for DH to tell me it was a boy. I agree it would make it easier to bond through the second half of the pregnancy though - I definitely struggled with that last time (but I had a gut feeling he was a boy so had been imagining a boy). We've got loads of gender neutral stuff but I'll buy new outfits for the hospital and that's it I think. I'm definitely after a new travel system this time too!!

balalalala · 29/01/2016 20:24

I had my booking in appointment today and a very similar experience to newinthevillage. Midwife was lovely but I have to ring up to book my 12 week scan. I literally tried every 30 mins from 11am and they never once answered the phone which doesn't fill me with confidence. My nausea hasn't returned since before my holiday but tiredness has totally wiped me. I've also been craving hot crossed buns all week and had to make a stop at sainsburys on the way to work to fulfil it!

icklekid · 30/01/2016 07:33

Ohh hot crossed buns sound very yummy! Toasted with butter please make a change from dry crackers! 🍪

Gosh is it bad that I'm more excited about decorating ds1 bedroom because dc2 will just have his old nursery? I still love the nursery but also excited about turning our spare room into a proper bedroom! I highly recommend wall stickers for those decorating nurseries!

Welcome banana and hope you have more luck on mon balalalalala

Kitkatmonster · 30/01/2016 08:26

Lol, ickle that's not bad at all, it's a very sensible decorating plan and you will love choosing ds1 bedroom colours and things - much more fun in my book.

My poor bean has no nursery and no intention of making him one :( . We have a 4th bedroom but it's my home office, I reckon I can squeeze a cot next to the desk and that will be OK. In all seriousness, I'm thinking s/he will be in our room for at least 6 months and is unlikely to bother about sharing with my work paraphernalia until ready for a bed (about 2 years?), so I've got plenty of time to save up for a loft conversion in the meantime. Unlucky, 3rd child just has to fit in...

bananamonkey · 30/01/2016 09:13

Waves to fellow banana welcome!

Well I've totally gone food weird, I don't want to eat anything unless it's warm and savoury which means lots of unhealthy carbs, yesterday I had 2 (!) fish finger sandwiches for lunch as it was all I could face but it was so good I had to make another.

This week has been good as DH has got a new job and we've exchanged on our new house which has been dragging on for ever. it has also made at least two people say to me "new job, new house...new baby? These things come in threes!" One whom was my Mum but I think I managed to distract her Hmm

Had a chat to my friend about her mc (mentioned upthread) last night, she's coping amazingly well I don't know how they're managing. It's really hard because I don't want to upset her and I think she might guess, particularly as she mentioned drinking wine with her tonight. It has also freaked me out because she first thought there was a problem when her dipstick tests were positive but digital was negative. I've been testing once a week just to make sure I've not made it up and yesterday all 3 were faint when before they were really strong but the control was the same faintness so I'm hoping it's just a dodgy batch of cheap tests. I have a digital one left that I'll try later.

celeste83 · 30/01/2016 09:22

I want toasted hot cross buns now! Chopped fruit in yoghurt for breakie here.

balalalala · 30/01/2016 09:31

Seriously they are so good - dripping in butter, nothing compares!

bailey23 · 30/01/2016 11:48

I've just walked to sainsburys specifically for hot cross buns thanks to you bad influences ladies! They were sooooo good though!

ohanami · 30/01/2016 12:54

Reassurance scan was suitably reassuring - little heart beating away and size seems to match up exactly with the date that I thought, so I'm 8+5 and fingers crossed it will all be smooth from here Smile Picture didn't have any features to identify it as a baby (more like a goldfish in one) but was amazing to see it. I still can't quite believe I'm pregnant.

I could murder a hot cross bun now. Haven't had one for years!

MillieMoodle · 30/01/2016 13:25

Hello everyone

Have been offline for a few days as have been feeling rough and so exhausted have been going to bed when I get in from work. Have just caught up - I'll be up for the FB group once I've had my 12wk scan (all being well) if that's ok kitkat. I'll try to pm you my email address.

I've had cravings for toasted teacakes recently, I've got through loads of them, dripping in butter!

Still feeling nauseous all the time, although the travel bands have helped. I'm finding that eating little and often is working best. I could sleep for a year though!

peardrop2 · 30/01/2016 13:43

I had a major craving for hot cross buns at the start of my pregnancy but I ate so many that now just reading about all your hot cross buns is making me want to Confused puke Sad Word of warning...don't over do it Wink

MillieMoodle · 30/01/2016 14:09

Pear drop - I overdid the fish fingers a few weeks ago and now any fish, even the word, is bleurgh!

Lilliana · 30/01/2016 14:25

We will wait to find out. We did with DD so all our little stuff is neutral and we'll work out the rest later. Word of warning when my friend was in hospital the lady next to her was told she was having a girl. She painted the bedroom pink and had piles of pink clothes/buggy etc - she had a boy!Shock

DH has decided he wants to join the army reserves Shock. He can't do the job he's doing forever so I get the change and he thinks by joining the reserves he can get trained up without having to pay the open uni fees (which we can't afford) I get his reasoning but is it that easy? Is it transferrable into the 'real' world? And what do I do if he's sent away for months?! I know we'll cope I just don't know if it's a reflex reaction to the pregnancy or something we should consider seriously. Sorry for the rant!!

YouAreAWizardHarry · 30/01/2016 15:01

Can I please join Smile?

Due 21/9/16 first baby.
Early scan booked for the 8th Grin

Kitkatmonster · 30/01/2016 15:16

Hi wizard, welcome.

Liliana - I don't know anything about reserves and such - would he be looking for a career in the military later on?

I'm thinking I may have spoken too soon, since lunchtime today I've got progressively more and more nauseous. I'm home alone and should be taking the opportunity to catch up on some admin but I can't bring myself to get off the sofa because I just need to lie here until I stop feeling sick! That will teach me...

zeeka · 30/01/2016 19:07

No nursery here, either! 2 bed flat and 2 kids already sharing. I am planning to put a chest of drawers and nappy box in their room, and co-sleeping for a couple of years. One of my twins loves cuddles so maybe she'd like a toddler in there Smile Massive improvement on last time though ... Broke up with my partner at 8mths and moved into my parents' front room!!

Welcome Harry!

Lilliana · 30/01/2016 20:57

I've just had grapes, Greek style yoghurt and honey - was so good!! Please don't tell me there's something there I'm not supposed to be eating!!!

Stumpysmum · 30/01/2016 21:25

Hibanana and wizard

Am so so tired today, we're away for the weekend and we have walked miles. Plus we also booked an apartment on the third floor which has no lift (error) so that's fun lugging the pushchair up and down the stairs!

We will definitely find out the gender this time and we should know by 18th Feb, so excited! We have no preference either way but we found out with DD and really enjoyed bonding with her before she was born so I'm looking forward to that again. Plus, if it's a boy I need advance notice because I am not sure there is a single boys name DH and I agree on!!

peardrop2 · 30/01/2016 21:40

Stumpy - how can you find out the gender so quickly?

Millie - ha ha fish fingers!

So I'm literally going to be the size of a whale if I don't calm down. I had bolognase for tea with DS at 6pm and now I've just demanded DH get pizza Smile I'm so hungry though!! Promise not to make a habit of this Blush

Stumpysmum · 30/01/2016 21:50

peardrop the Harmony test can tell you the gender, we're having it on 5th and then 2 week wait for results.

I demolished a huge pizza for dinner and even had a starter of breaded mozzarella Blush need to stop eating so much crap
