Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

I've got my mw booking in app next week. Do you think it will be acceptable to take my 2yo with me? I don't really have anyone else to have him. I'm hoping I'll get an early dating scan shortly after because I don't really know how pregnant I am

Alwaysinahurrynow · 10/02/2016 09:56

Totally acceptable to take your toddler unless they have something like chickenpox. Mine even got to prod my bump at 8 months to feel the bottom - he loved that!

MrBensMrs · 10/02/2016 10:02

I have been booked in for my first mid wife appointment and she is coming to the house? Is that weird? It's on the 26th February.

Also, God the insomnia - I am knackered by can't sleep and keep waking up, around 3ish!! Might come on here and say hey next time!
Also still full of cold and a bad cough - really feeling pants at the moment ;(

Blueskygirl30 · 10/02/2016 10:06

Banana I know what you mean about being presumptuous. I went to my gp super early (3+5!) as I had some stuff I wanted to ask and so then got a call from the MW to book me in for my appointment which will be at 8 weeks. When she phoned she asked if I would be having my baby at the local hospital. My immediate thought was 'hold on, I'm pregnant, that doesn't necessarily mean I'm having a baby!' Can't wait until 12 weeks, providing I make it that far of course!!

Blueskygirl30 · 10/02/2016 10:21

Sorry for the double post, so much is happening on here I forget what I was going to reply by the time I get to the end!!

Missy sorry you had a stressful day and long wait but WOW! So exciting to see wee bubba's heart beating!! So pleased for you.

Shropitlikeitshot · 10/02/2016 10:38

mrbensmrs after only 3 hours sleep last night I went to the doctors, she's given my antibiotics for my pounding head (sinus infection) and is going to do some research on sleeping pills in pregnancy Grin

MrBensMrs · 10/02/2016 10:45

shrop wow that's great! My gp said yesterday it wasn't a chest infection so fight it the old fashioned way with honey and lemon but I feel awful Sad

ditsygal · 10/02/2016 11:10

Missy how lovely to see your scan pic!
Sorry for not name checking more people - the thread is moving fast now! but I like that - it gives me something to read each day.

Welcome to the newbies!

My DS has chickenpox - luckily I had it as a child so hopefully I am immune as obviously chickenpox when pregnant would not be good. He's only got about 15 spots so I am hoping its a very mild case as he has actually been vaccinated against it, so its bad luck he has got it at all!

soundsystem · 10/02/2016 11:21

Gosh, this thread is moving fast! Hello and congrats to all the newbies!

Ah, missy glad all is ok, and you got to see - amazing!

So, someone in work just asked me if I'm pregnant! I just sort of went "no?". I think the fact I've stopped smoking, and went home early from a night out we had recently has somewhat given the game away. Normally I would have just said yes but I need to tell my boss first. But I'm changing jobs soon (putting in my notice on Monday) and I want to tell me new boss first. Eeeeek.

bananafish81 · 10/02/2016 11:34

missy beautiful scan pic - everything crossed for you

I went through everyone assuming I was pregnant when I gave up booze last June once I knew we were starting IVF - I got a lot of knowing winks from colleagues who blatantly thought I wasn't drinking cos I was upduffed. Felt like screaming 'I'm not pregnant just infertile!!!'. Think after a while they realised I really wasn't pregnant!

isthatpoisontoo · 10/02/2016 12:03

missy what a lovely pic! Sorry you had such a stressful time, esp. being palmed off with constipation. If I'm not asking for TMI, was the scan uncomfortable? I think I'll be announcing in week 9-10 (not drinking at my wedding may as well be an announcement) and I was wondering about having a private scan beforehand. The-um-nature of early scans is putting me off a bit, though. Obviously I'd have one if I had reasons to be concerned.

soundsystem I think that's rather rude of your colleague. I wouldn't ask someone outright unless I was sure they were telling people. He/she must know you have to tell certain people first.

Hello to all the new people, and congrats!

bananafish81 · 10/02/2016 12:13

Poison congrats on your wedding! Just to interject, trans vaginal scans are a piece of piss. Not uncomfortable in the slightest. I had to have a hot date with dildocam every couple of days during my IVF cycles and all the investigations prior, and they're absolutely fine. The probe is not large and I'm, er, quite small framed. Not a problem. Xx

MrBensMrs · 10/02/2016 12:16

Lovely scan missy x

Ladycrazycat · 10/02/2016 13:06

I'm so pleased for you missy - it must be nice to have your mind put at rest a little.

sound what a rude colleague! I know the speculation is just what happens among colleagues but you don't say it to someone's face! You wait to be told. Some people must be speculating at my work as I look quite pregnant (it has to just be bloating). I wore a lose fitting dress today but even in that I'm looking rounder.

I have now forgotten what it is like to feel normal! I had nausea on and off all day on Mon and Tues and was feeling so awful this morning I asked for a seat on the tube. I felt very cheeky given I am only 6 weeks but the swaying of the train makes my nausea worse. The only thing that seems to make the nausea better is eating constantly...but not too much or I feel worse! Every time I eat anything that resembles a meal it feels too much!

TheCake · 10/02/2016 13:47

ladycrazycat I feel exactly the same, I need to eat little and often otherwise I feel sick. I don't think I will be sick - I never throw up normally even with the worst hangovers, but I feel dreadful.

I have just told my mum and sister who both live in the North East where I am originally from and they are really excited bless them. I feel bad for keeping it a secret from them before but I wanted to wait a bit longer this time before telling them as in previous occasions I have told them and had to call a couple of days later with bad news. Just counting down the days until half term (Friday) and then next wednesday for my early scan. Missy seeing your lovely picture has made me even more excited, thank god it was good news for you.

Orrery · 10/02/2016 14:17

Hello can I join?

I'm 6 weeks, due 5th October, this is my second and my DS has just turned two.

I've been grappling with the guilt of the 'working Mum' over the last year, so I recently stopped working to spend some time at home with DS1 and enjoy a more relaxed 2nd pregnancy, and although I am enjoying it, I can't seem to help myself keeping one eye on the job market - seems it's not so easy to kick a 20 year habit of working!

pandaglasses · 10/02/2016 14:37

I was hoping to keep this pregnancy a secret until 12 weeks but I don't know if I'll be able to! I already think my tummy has got a bump shape lower down and my work uniform is quite unflattering, I look puffy too. I doubt it will be long before the girls at work start whispering. Is it still reasonable to still blame it on post Xmas podge?!

Ladycrazycat · 10/02/2016 14:50

cake DH pointed out the other day that I'm like that - I often say I feel sick but so rarely am sick! In fact he often tells me that he thinks I'm confused by what it feels like to feel sick as I never am when I say I feel sick!

My family are also very excited, so much so that they may have told a few more people than we had planned on telling! I'm not good at attention being on me, especially not when I don't expect it. It was quite a surprise to have people congratulate me already when they shouldn't know! I don't mind you much but it was a surprise!

I have my booking appointment on Friday. Hoping they will offer me an early scan as there's a small chance I could be a month on from where I think I am which would make me 11 weeks! There's also twins in the family and I'm the generation 'supposed to' have them so at least if I have an early scan hopefully they could tell me that.

Welcome Orrery

Ladycrazycat · 10/02/2016 14:55

panda I feel like I'm cursing myself if I buy maternity clothes so early (stupid apt superstitious) but my clothes are so uncomfortably tight now. I'm hoping my bloating will reduce!

I also measured my boobs in about the middle of Dec and bought a new bra. I struggled to decide between a 32C and 32D at the time, eventually settling on the C. I measured them at home last night and apparently I'm a 32DD now!

wondermoose · 10/02/2016 15:32

lady I have the twin fear too, pattern in my family is 1 then twins, and my generation is due some twins, I can cope with another one but not two!

Throughout my last pregnancy I could only ever eat little and often, it was annoying! I'd be starving and sit down to a lovely meal and be full by 5mins in

On the subject of food, has anyone got any healthy diet ideas? I really wanted to lose weight before this pregnancy but not sure how to go about it healthily

Bugmuncher · 10/02/2016 15:33

Hello everyone! Can I join please? I think my EDD is early October and I'm currently 6 weeks plus 4. My booking in appointment isn't until March when I'll be just over 11 weeks so feels an age away.

Have any of you had a private early ultrasound? I am considering having one at 8 weeks. I'm very much of the view 'what will be will be' but I'd rather have any idea of how things are getting along.

Alwaysinahurrynow · 10/02/2016 15:43

I'm having a private early scan for dating purposes as I'm booked in to have the Harmony test and they need you to have a scan if you are having the test around the time of your normal 12 week scan. Could wait until after the 12 week scan, but it's at 9 weeks so should also confirm heartbeat Smile

wondermoose · 10/02/2016 16:33

bug I had a private scan with my first, made me feel a lot calmer in the wait up to 12 weeks

always what's the harmony test?

JulietteT · 10/02/2016 16:34

Bug I've booked myself in for a private scan at 8 weeks (early March) because a) I couldn't bear to wait the full 12 weeks and b) we have a holiday in mid-March and if the scan reveals bad news then at least I can have a boozy holiday afterwards to make myself feel better!

daydream86 · 10/02/2016 16:52

I think might try and get an early scan, maybe a birthday present? it would be wonderful breaking the news on my 30th :-) had a little spotting again this morning an for the first time felt so nauseous and poorly how that was a one off. maybe if I mention it at my
MW appointment in a fortnight they might want to scan me anyway X
