Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Welcome NotWitoutMyMerkin & melonribena - great to see you on here and congratulations [flower] Grin

My EDD based on my LMP is 28th September Merkin but I know what day we would have conceived on, so I know I O'd late Grin.

Where are you both from? OH and DSS (mainly OH) have given me the glorious present of their cold's - do any of you have experience of dealing with early 1st trimester colds/coughs?

doleritedinosaur · 24/01/2016 14:52

Congratulations to the few new ones.

I have to keep eating small things or the nausea overwhelms me, I seem to have forgotten in under a year how constant it is.

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday.

doleritedinosaur · 24/01/2016 14:54

Just to add this in Missy honey & glyercin from Boots got me through 2 colds in my pregnancy last time.

As well as hot honey & lemon. Hope you feel better soon.

melonribena · 24/01/2016 14:56

Thank you!
I'm in the Midlands

leoniethelioness · 24/01/2016 15:18

Welcome to all the new posters!

melonribena · 24/01/2016 15:21

Has anyone told family/friends/work yet?
It's hard to know when's the best time!

CatsCantFlyFast · 24/01/2016 15:35

I'm in Surrey.

We've told friends - I'm not so fused about waiting until 12 weeks as they've known about/supported us through previous early miscarriages/chemicals.

Work - i think it depends on what you do (eg if you need to adapt your work conditions for health and safety), how well you are (sickness often forces people to tell work earlier than they'd naturally want to) and your personal decision. Last time I told work quite late - 16ish weeks or later and it was hard to hide up til then.

For those where this will be DD/DS2/3/4 how old will your other children be when this one is born? DD1 will be 2.5

I'm trying not to worry at this stage but I'm likely to be high risk this time around due to red cell antibodies - I'm desperately hoping not as would like a repeat of my lovely water birth from last time

kittyvet · 24/01/2016 15:40

Welcome newbies! My daughter will be 2 merkin. Working this weekend so just trying to get through it! Fortunately not feeling that sick yet!

My ds will be just turned 4. He'll start school in September so it will be a big period of change for him.
That's one of my biggest worries

doleritedinosaur · 24/01/2016 16:38

My Ds is 10.5 months, only just started sleeping 6 hours so not sure what we were thinking!

I ended up telling my old job at 7-8 weeks as I felt too dizzy to go up ladders. I hadn't been there that long either!

I've only told the few friends that knew we were trying. Waiting until after scan for DS to tell people.

My DP wants the baby to tell people haha.

ashesandfire · 24/01/2016 22:34

Hello! Can I join in? Got bfp this weekend and edd is about 27th sept according to NHS site but my cycle is long and irregular so thinking it could well be more like October (also DD went to 42 weeks!) Have 1 DD who will be nearly 3 when this one arrives all being well. A bit nervous/shocked/scared, circumstances not 100% and conceived much earlier than expected! I'm in Surrey.

melonribena · 24/01/2016 22:45

Hello ashes!! Congratulations and welcome!! I feel very overwhelmed as well!

leoniethelioness · 25/01/2016 06:43

Welcome, ashes!

I feel really overwhelmed too. I didn't think it would happen so soon and I was really convinced my period was on its way last week before my BFP!

missybct · 25/01/2016 07:47

Welcome and congratulations ashes - I too feel overwhelmed - this will be my first (OH's second) and have no idea where to start Grin. OH's son will be just 7 when baby arrives - he has joint custody and we have him with us about 2 nights a week, sometimes 3. He's ace Grin

melon - it will be a big time of change for you all - but for your DS, perhaps the ability to go to school and make new friends will enable him to be more excited about his new brother or sister as he won't be around them all the time? I hope that makes sense - are you concerned he will feel put out?

We've told OH's parents and sisters, my Mum and brother and OH's boss & wife, who happen to be our closest friends. I also told one of my colleagues who I sit next to in work - I can trust her not to say anything unless absolutely necessary, but figured if I felt ill or something happened at least one person knew.

We won't be telling DSS until I'm much further along, and obviously his Mum too.

missybct · 25/01/2016 07:50

dinosaur - thank you for the recommendation, I'll pop into Boots on the way into work Smile

Also - have any of you had your BFP's confirmed by digital tests yet?

I'm a bit concerned, I started to get BFP on Weds, but really only strong by the Thursday night. I stupidly took a CB Digital on Friday night which came back "Not Pregnant" - threw me out and made me worry Sad. I took a FRER (which I'd been using) on Sunday morning and got a nice, big pink thick line nearly as strong as the control, so I know I need to STFU and stop worrying as I'm only 4 weeks and I know they're less sensitive Blush

leoniethelioness · 25/01/2016 08:20

missy - I had a feint line on a cheap one from Amazon (One Step) and a really clear one on a FRER, and then a pale one on a Boots own brand one. I've not tried a digital but the cheap sticks from Amazon (about 20 for £2.50) are fine for some reassurance if you don't want to feel like you're basically peeing on bank notes. Maybe try a digi next week? I don't think they are anywhere near as sensitive as a FRER so it might take longer for the result to show.

leoniethelioness · 25/01/2016 08:22

I took the Boots one the day after the FRER and only an hour after last going to the loo 😕 and the line was so pale it upset me a bit too. So you're not alone with this!

CatsCantFlyFast · 25/01/2016 08:51

I'm a self confessed pregnancy test geek!

I used to swear by the cheapies from Amazon but they are def not 10miu sensitivity anymore.

The superdrug early response showed lines before frer, and the Internet cheapies didn't show a line even after 4 days of the superdrug tests showing lines. (My ic's are showing lines now about 6 days after the other tests)

doleritedinosaur · 25/01/2016 09:06

I'm pretty sure I'm out now as I've woken up with bleeding & cramps. Doctor is calling me back later as I wasn't sure what to do after a positive test.

Very confusing as I'm still nauseous.

Hope everyone else continues to have healthy pregnancies. Flowers

kittyvet · 25/01/2016 09:19

Sorry to hear that dinosaur, there is still hope? Flowers hopefully they will arrange some blood tests and scans for you.
I haven't checked a test again since I got my BFP. I think urine hCG must be very dependent on concentration of your urine so its best to try not to read too much into how light or dark a line is. I mean I am already chugging water and off to the toilet every 5 mins! There must also be a lot of interbrand variation. (That's based on my knowledge of similar tests which work on the same technology that I use daily for diagnostics). That said- not stressing is easier said than done!

OP posts:
missybct · 25/01/2016 11:36

Leonie - I must have peed away about £50 (cough cough) on HPT... Blush - not proud! Merkin - thats where my BFP started off on the early detection tests, then slowly moved over to FRER. I've got a Superdrug normal HPT (20mui) which has a line on it but not as strong as FRER. I did CB+ on Friday and had lines too...so I need to just chill the f! out.

dinosaur - oh love, like kitty said there is still hope. Fingers crossed it's all fine and you'll be joining us. Flowers for you x

melonribena · 25/01/2016 17:34

Oh dinosaur I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope you are ok.

I did a digital test, just a cheap one from boots. Just confirmed my thoughts to be honest.

Missy, I guess ds and I have such a close relationship. He had a milk allergy so I bf longer than I ever intended, another reason #2 is 4 years later! I worry that he won't cope sharing me. Probably worrying over nothing

leoniethelioness · 25/01/2016 18:27

Thinking of you, dino

SimileMilly · 25/01/2016 19:20

Sorry to hear your news dino. You have my complete sympathies and I know exactly the worry and stress you must be going through. Be kind to yourself.

DD will be almost 4. I separated from her dad just before her first birthday so this is DP's first!

I've done cough quite a few digital tests... Blush

Today I booked centerparcs for the start of December! I figured we'd hopefully be over the chaos of the inita newborn stage by then and if we have another mc it will give us something at least to try and look forward to this year

melonribena · 25/01/2016 19:49

Simile, we've got centre parks already booked for October half term! Do u think it's workable for a 2 ish week old and a 4 year old?!

Ds would be so disappointed not to go!
