Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

I had my BFP on 31st Jan @ 8dp5dt from IVF, which makes an EDD of 10th Oct. Blood tests have all come back OK so now just nervously waiting for my first scan in 2 weeks time, when I'll be 7 weeks +1 eek!

I'm 34 and TTC #1 - I had resisted joining any pregnancy threads as didn't want to jinx anything, but then had a quiet word with myself as obviously if it's gonna stick it will, and if it's not it's not - and me joining a BFP thread ain't gonna change that. So nervously asking if I could join you ladies? Smile

bananafish81 · 10/02/2016 00:33

Oh and I'm in North London. Also to the poster whose name I forget (sorry, on phone so can't scroll back) who asked about vitamins without folic acid. I'm also on the prescription 5mg folic acid because I have epilepsy, and it's absolutely fine to take a prenatal with folic acid. Dr said it's water soluble so anything your body doesn't absorb will just get pee-ed out

bananafish81 · 10/02/2016 01:06

Lollies I've got insomnia big time. Thought I was a weirdo who wasn't exhausted as we're supposed to be in early pregnancy - woke up at 330 and couldn't get back to sleep!! I'm desperate for symptoms so that I can hope there's still something going on in there! After blood tests every other day the next 2 weeks until the scan feels like a lifetime!!

wetsnow · 10/02/2016 02:12

Ah banana hope you are snoring now.

I'm awake because dd is awake. Think she had a nightmare.

Shropitlikeitshot · 10/02/2016 03:53

I've been waking at 2am for the last THREE WEEKS now and dropping off again about 4 only to have to wake up at 6. I'm dying on my feet. Went to ask a pharmacist who was like "bad luck, you're pregnant. Paracetamol?"

Aghhhgghhhhhhggfgggggggg Sad

Alwaysinahurrynow · 10/02/2016 05:04

Welcome banana.

I've got awful insomnia too, but have slept through tonight yippee! I've got to get up now to catch a flight for work - wish I could stay in bed!

Gigglebert · 10/02/2016 05:15

Morning all, I've been up again since 3:30!

I had the GTT last time as my sister has type one diabetes which apparently makes it more likely that I might be susceptible? Anyway, it was fine, in Edinburgh the midwife does it at your GP surgery and you can go home for the two hour wait if you live close enough!

Last time I was considered high risk under a genetic consultant until the twenty week scan as my MIL had two still births with a very rare form of dwarfism (unsure if my husband carries the genetic but exceptionally unlikely I would anyway). Turns out all was fine but I'm expecting the same situation this time around.

Hoping to have a home birth this time as my labour last time was generally fine and I was insistent about leaving hospital at the six hour mark! We didn't even check into the ward, just stayed in our birthing suite until the paediatrician had given us the all clear after the startle test! Not sure how my husband feels about that one yet, he just says we can see what the midwife thinks... Have any if you had home births?

Gigglebert · 10/02/2016 06:01

Also, to those who are itchy... I had terrible itching everywhere in the first trimester with my first... I called the hospital panicking as I had read that itching was serious (apparently only in the first trimester), the midwife I spoke to calmed me down and recommended I try a porridge bath which was amazing! Cut the leg off an old pair of tights, fill it with porridge oats and tie it off then put it in the bath while it runs/use it as a sponge when in the bath... Definitely gave me relief from the itching! Be careful getting out afterwards as it makes the bath quite slippery!

AngharadTheSplendid · 10/02/2016 06:22

Welcome newbies!

Gurzle I'm English but in the north US too. My OB is also great. I'm 4+5 but haven't called her yet, figured I would wait til about 7 weeks to cut out a few copays Wink. What are they doing at your appointment in 2 weeks?

My bmi is 19 but still had gtt test last time. It was horrific, had to fast for 12 hours, then drink their disgusting drink, then have blood tests every hour for the next four hours. Never felt so weak/dizzy/sick.

Turns out I did have gestational diabetes though, so best to know!

fish88 · 10/02/2016 06:49

orange I did put on a stone and a half in pregnancy last time but even that only put my bmi at 19. I'm just very thin normally. I think the midwife thought I had an eating disorder despite me telling her otherwise and that all my family is built the same as me. My bump kept measuring small as well but baby was born at a healthy 6lb 8oz.

fairgroundsnack · 10/02/2016 06:55

Hi giggle - I had a home birth with dc2 and it was fabulous, definitely aiming to do the same this time if all goes to plan!

Glitterball86 · 10/02/2016 07:03

I'm contemplating a home birth this time as it only took me 12 minutes from my waters going to DS arriving last time :/
With you all on the insomnia also I keep walking up through the night and wide awake at 5 am lol

Gigglebert · 10/02/2016 07:06

Midwife broke my waters last time and she came in two pushes (or one minute later)... My labour stalled a bit when I had to get in the car to transfer to hospital so I'd rather avoid that if I can!

Gurzleburg · 10/02/2016 07:19

Angharad good idea on the copay front-It's going to be another expensive year!
I'm not sure much will happen at the first appointment but there's a chance this pregnancy will also be high risk so I wanted to get the ball rolling with MFM referrals etc.

That drink at the gtt test was truely repulsive. I wonder if they'd let me bring lucozade this time?! Chocolate and ice cream were my total cravings last time but going to try and be more sensible as with the extra weight, I worry GD will be more of a risk.

Wide awake here at 2.15 am so feeling for everyone else who has insomnia. It's just a continuous cycle of wake up, drink, wake up wee, wake up, worry all night! Then DS will wake at 4am for a drink too!

Allhallowseve · 10/02/2016 07:41

Would love a home birth only 5 mins away from local hospital hot to 6cm at home last time then took me 13 hours to get to fully dilated in hospital. Had a bad tear so not sure what is the best option for me to time Confused

Allhallowseve · 10/02/2016 07:41

Sorry should say got

leoniethelioness · 10/02/2016 07:42

Welcome newbies!

I'm seven weeks today, tired, covered in spots, and feeling huge. No pregnancy glow here! I'm excited as my booking appointment is this time next week. No morning sickness but feel queasy if I don't eat regularly. Switched to lemon and ginger tea at work which is maybe helping a bit.

So it's safe to say we're all giving up alcohol for Lent?!

Grumpelstiltskin · 10/02/2016 07:54

Hello to all the newbies! Especially nice to see you here, banana! Glad all is going well. Didn't realise you were North London too- I'm in NW3.

YY to insomnia. Was so tired yesterday though that for the first time I managed to go back to sleep after the now-traditional 3am wee, and feel extremely triumphant about it.
Hats off to you all who are struggling with no sleep AND a toddler!

Blueskygirl30 · 10/02/2016 08:03

Giggle thanks for the porridge bath tip!! I might have to give that a go! I'll ask the midwife about it in a couple of weeks at my first appointment I think.

I feel hungover today. Obviously not due to any alcohol consumption at all. First bit of nausea I've had.

I've been waking up at 0300-0400 everyday to pee, most of the time I'm awake for an hour or so and then get back to sleep. Glad it's not just me! (In a non-selfish way!!)

Reluctantnympho · 10/02/2016 08:03

leo thank goodness for the cover of lent Smile

bananafish81 · 10/02/2016 08:30

Hello to the 3am eternal club (showing my age here, if you get that reference!!)

I wasn't sure whether to wait until after my 7 week scan to make an appointment at the GP (although I suppose even if it's OK then I won't feel out of the woods as 7-11 is still a massive danger zone) - felt like I was tempting fate to go and kick off antenatal stuff when I'm only 5 weeks!!! As I'm high risk (I have epilepsy as well as a spinal injury) I wasn't sure if consultant led antenatal involved anything more from an earlier stage, so bit the bullet and made an appt to see the GP eek!

Feels so presumptuous, to think that just because I'm pregnant now, that means I might get a baby in 9 months - is anyone else scared of making any kind of pregnancy related plans in case it comes back to bite them?

Also, have any of you ladies who are on DC2 (or more!) had consultant led antenatal? I'm not sure what that actually means in practice? (I never read up to find out what would happen if I actually did get pregnant because I didn't think it would happen!!!)

missybct · 10/02/2016 08:48

Bloody hell this has moved quick, I've only been AWOL a day! Grin

WELCOME to all the newbies Flowers and congratulations.

I am too a bit chunky, so will expect the the plethora of weight related, diabetes questions.

I've had a bit of a topsy turvy couple of days - went into A&E with pain and a bit of spotting Monday evening, only to be told I was constipated (I wasn't) Hmm. Pain intensified Monday night-Tues morning, so MIL took me up again to EPAU (not before a 5 hour wait in A&E, again...) - there were FIVE of us with pregnancy concerns (sadly 3 were miscarrying) and only one OB Consultant, so we sort of became a bit of a group. One girl was 17 weeks and only just realised she was pregnant after a seizure!

Finally got scanned, and am pleased to say I'm bang on what I thought I was with dates (6+3) and my shrimp (as MIL calls it) is in the right place, with a heartbeat Smile. Wasn't expecting to be scanned, but because some of the pain was isolated on the left hand side presumably they wanted to rule out ectopic. I saw the yolk sac and little shrimp, you could see it pulsate, was the weirdest thing. Doesn't really look like anything at the moment though Grin. The yolk sac does appear to be on top of the embryo though Hmm - presumably this is OK - the nurse didn't say anything to the contrary.

Pic of little shrimp attached Smile - is this the first scan pic?

Aww glad all is OK missy :) always best to get things checked, if for no other reason than it stops put getting too stressed
banana I was under a consultant last time, nothing different happened with my mw appointments, just a few extra tests and scans and you see a registrar instead of a mw when you go for your scans :)

espresso14 · 10/02/2016 09:22

Hello, EDD Oct 1st. This is my second, and like my first, I'm not enjoying the pregnancy, nausea for a lot of the day, and starts from about 3.30am, when I have to wake up and start feeling sick. I get up and eat or else I can't get back to sleep. Only actually sick for the first time this morning, which is an improvement on last time when I was being sick every day from 5 weeks. But really, really looking forward to the 2nd trimester (providing I get through the risky stage, of course).

I have to eat constantly in the morning (about 3 breakfasts) to stop the nausea. As a result, trousers are already starting to get tight.

I'm in the Midlands, and DD1 is 2. Not really telling anyone, as we want DD1 to know first.

JulietteT · 10/02/2016 09:32

Banana I know exactly hpw you feel. With me I think it's a bit of a defence mechanism - deep down I don't really believe I'll have a baby in October because I think something will go wrong. And while I suppose it will help manage the disappointment if there is a problem, it also makes me a bit sad as I'm not able to enjoy the excitement of it as much as DH is. Normally he's the pessimist and I'm the optimist so this is a bit of a role-reversal!!
