Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Reluctant - I'm the same about drinks. Don't drink tea or coffee but do drink Diet Coke.

Going to replace it with the caffeine free version but still only have it as a treat (given the aspartame).

Currently trialling a few replacements. At the moment I'm just drinking water at work and then sparkling water with fruit (like a slice of lemon/lime) if I want more than ordinary water in the evenings.

kittyvet · 07/02/2016 21:26

Yes wetsnow what on earth possessed me- a blubbing wreck! Had a ban on it in last pregnancy and think that might be the last episode I watch in this one!

I'm drinking a lot of sparkling water. I gave up fizzy drinks and alcohol for January (obviously continuing with no alcohol!) apart from sparkling water. I've had a couple of small glasses of Coke this month on the days I've not had any other caffeine, but I'm trying to stick to the fizzy water. I wish I didn't like carbonated drinks as much as I do!

Cutting down on caffeine has been fine as we only have decaff at home. I've been off caffeine at home for about a year now as it kept me up at night (going to the loo!) if I had any after work.

This week I'm going to try to eat healthier.

Thank you for the Lent reminder! I did dry January and can now use this excuse for social events. I've been avoiding them a little...

Hi everyone! Congratulations and welcome to the newbies!!

One of my biggest concerns is the impact on ds and our relationship. We are very close and he can be very clingy.

Has anyone got any top tips about helping him get used to it gradually?

Reluctantnympho · 07/02/2016 21:55

At lunch today i tried orange juice and lemonade which hit the spot! And at the pub on Friday night I had lemonade in a wine glass Wine which made it seem a bit better Wink

Bikey86 · 07/02/2016 22:00

Its such a relief to hear other that feel the same as me Friday I thought I was some sort of heartless monster!!

Can I join? BFP last Monday; due date 13 October. Hello everyone. :-)

#1 for us. We've been ttc for 13 months, so am still in a bit of shock. I'd basically convinced myself it was never going to happen, so can't quite believe it has. Though I realise I now just have a new set of things to get worried about!

I was planning to just continue taking the seven seas pre-conception tablets as I have loads left and they seem to have the same content as the "pregnancy" ones. I also like that they're small, have the days of the week and don't make me sick like larger ones do!

Georgina4 · 07/02/2016 22:07

Welcome newbies. Oh no don't say that about call the midwife, just watching it now as recorded it. I have the tissues ready. Has anyone been more emotional generally since their bfp or am I just making imaginary links? Also, does anyone know pregnancy vitamins that don't have folic acid in? The reason I ask is bc I have to take the higher dosage of folic acid (5 milligrams,mg) for now rather than 4 micrograms (4mcg) which I understand is the norm. All the pregnancy vitamins I've looked at have folic acid already in (4mcg) so was hesitant about taking a pregnancy vitamin with 4mcg folic acid plus 5mg folic acid. X

melonribena · 07/02/2016 22:53

Hi georgina! Yes,I've been so emotional, crying over things that wouldn't normally bother me and getting seriously irritated about little things too! Crazy hormones!

MrsFrankUnderwood · 07/02/2016 22:59

Hi everyone. Just found out I'm pg today, due date 14th October. Still in shock, even though we were trying. Had a mc back in September, so praying this little one is happier than our last one. Had a faint line on a cheapie test, then dashed out to buy a clearblue, feels somehow more real when you see the actual word! Smile

Sending happy thoughts everyone's way Thanks

Grumpel TMI but my we'd has been neon! I presumed I was dehydrated but maybe it is the pregnacare.

Other than wee that looks like it should be in a glow stick, I'm finding it fine to take. I'm usually awful with tablets. I really struggle to swallow tablets but these ones have been ok. I think because they are totally tasteless unlike many which have that bitter taste to them when you swallow.

Dilligufdarling · 08/02/2016 02:30

Melon - how old** is your ds? Mine's 3.5 and I'm taking the view that it will of course affect his life now, it will mean that he's not the sole centre of our lives and that our world doesn't revolve around only him. But...
One of the factors that meant we wanted another child was so that he wasn't and only. My dh was and this has really influenced him not wanting that for his children. So I figure there'll be up sides and down sides for ds, but hopefully the down sides will be for a few months/ year or so and the upsides will last a lifetime

Georgina - it looks like the max folic acid you should take is 1000mcg, so I guess your within that. Alternatively could you just stop your existing supplement and take a preggo one that has more than 400mcg in?

Dilligufdarling · 08/02/2016 02:37

Sorry.. Bold fail back there!
Georgina I've just realised you said mg not mcg so your already on 5000 mcg. Probs best to check with your Dr. Maybe you could take all separate ones.

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/02/2016 06:49

The pregnacare is responsible for the neon wee. I had it last time.

This time I'm taking some vitamins made from whole foods and with natural folate rather than folic acid which I got on Amazon in America. Can't remember the name. I take 3 a day plus 3 calcium pills and an omega 3 pill. I'm rattling!

OrangeBlossom2 · 08/02/2016 06:58

They are called new chapter vitamins. Previously I was on Thorne basic prenatal but they made me feel sick. Both have natural folate. Both are three massive pills a day.

Independent midwives coming for a consultation tonight. Unfortunately writing a list of questions brought up lots of stuff about DS1s birth but hoping they will make me feel reassured.

Is it windy near you? Our fence has blown down and snapped. Got to go to work, hope no one comes in and robs us today.

Georgina4 · 08/02/2016 07:40

Yeah that's what I was thinking Dilligufdarling* that's what I was thinking I may need to do. Thanks for your help.

Alwaysinahurrynow · 08/02/2016 09:17

Told my DH about the giving up alcohol for lent excuse, as I thought it was a great idea, he told me no-one would be believe me!

wetsnow · 08/02/2016 10:18

I'm at a spa day next week. I remember the jacuzzi being a no last time.
Having a full body wrap and massage... I assume that's okay?

LisaTheGreek · 08/02/2016 10:38

Wetsnow - why are jacuzzis not allowed? And is that for the first tri only, or whole way through?

IndiX · 08/02/2016 10:50

I have a spa day today, I've heard about the jacuzzi/sauna thing too. I'm going to google it now and read up on it, if not I'll just have to have a swim.
I'm bloody exhausted again, irritable and feel huge in every way. Also feel a bit nauseous, not enough that I'm going to be sick but enough to make me feel crappy.
Anyway, looking forward to a nice massage and falling asleep on the massage bed and probably drooling through the face hole.
Have a nice day ladies, hope you're all feeling ok today. Just think, this isn't going to be forever and no wonder our bodies are knackered, we're creating a life this is what I keep having to tell myself!

wetsnow · 08/02/2016 10:56

Lisa it's to do with not being able to control your temp and can harm baby. It's especially the first 12 weeks but I'll avoid the whole time.

At soft play for dad birthday. It's so quiet but dd just busted her lip on the slide so is pissed off.

wetsnow · 08/02/2016 11:01

Dd's birthday not dad's.

Leodensian · 08/02/2016 12:17

Had some bleeding this morning, no pain and only a small amount. Still too early for any scans so doctor says it's a wait and see thing. Do another pee stick in a week or so. I'm still feeling the nausea and have the mild stretching aches in my abdomen. Currently home curled up on the sofa (while the cat humps my leg!), part of me wants to stay out in case movements 'dislodge' something while the rational part of me is thinking whatever will be will be so just get on as normal!

CatsCantFlyFast · 08/02/2016 12:27

Hope you're ok Leo. I had a big bleed at 10 weeks last time and know dactyl what you're describing.

On the spa thing - if i remember correctly in Sweden and a lot of Europe they continue jacuzzi/sauna throughout their pregnancy without any issue

Reluctantnympho · 08/02/2016 12:50

leo hope you are ok, keeping everything crossed for you
