Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Welcome Indi - congratulations!

We need Merkins brilliant due date list as we have so many newbies!

I'm still not feeling particularly symptomy - had the cramps and aches on Friday - I feel rough, as in just not 100% - but not sick sick, it's weird. I've been having loads of number 2's too which is quite rare for me - not loose or anything, just like my metabolic rate is screaming! I don't feel bloated anymore, boobs feel sore but not unbearable. I have had heartburn though...

Tempted to see about private scans, not sure what OH would say - his school of thought is "You're pregnant, it's fine" Grin. I did do my CB Digi yesterday and came up with 3+, which would be bang on, I'm apparently 6 weeks today but not 100% on dates.

How are we all doing? On going bathroom fiasco of the week this week is our toilet is blocked Envy

Blueskygirl30 · 07/02/2016 10:12

Melon I've only got a 6 week scan because I had an ectopic pregnancy just over a year ago and so have a higher risk (20%) of this one being ectopic too so it's to make sure it's not.

Ashes I'd probably go with an antibiotic type scenario in case people don't believe you've given up alcohol for a hen do. My sister would be livid if I gave up alcohol when it was her hen do...although your stepsister might be more tolerant! I'd probably mention a week before that I had come down with tonsillitis (or something similar) but was on antibiotics and was super hoping to be better in time for the hen do. I love a good back story to a cover story! Wink

My friend's a Dr and she mentioned a while ago that some regions of the UK won't tell you the sex due to the fact that they can only be really sure (but still not 100%) if it's a boy because they can actually see something. Greedy people were actually trying to sue the Drs for telling them it was a girl and then it turns out to be a boy (or, occasionally the other way around).

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/02/2016 10:37

I've been quiet as the nausea is destroying me - although it's a bit better since getting some wristbands yesterday. I've lost 2kg this week as I can't face food!
Welcome to the newbies

CatsCantFlyFast · 07/02/2016 10:39

On the antibiotics thing there is only one type of antibiotic that you can't drink with and I think most people know this so you have to tread carefully with that story.

kittyvet · 07/02/2016 10:40

Yeah my MIL used to be manager at mothercare, always had people bringing clothes back as the scan got the sex wrong! Also this time I am keeping labels on clothes until baby born as my LG was too large for newborn and had to go straight into 0-3mths. Donated all my lovely newborn clothes to SCBU whilst in hospital as they lent us some clothes for her when she was born as we didn't have any large enough!!!

I'm so bad at lying I'm thinking ladycrazycat's suggestion might be the way forward. There's only going to be 3 people there who would probably guess if I wasn't drinking and who I'd have to lie to. Maybe if I told them beforehand but emphasised that I really didn't want to detract from stepsisters day that would be the best course of action. I have a dating scan a week on Tuesday due to my crazy cycles and not being sure exactly when I'm due so hopefully that will at least give an idea of the pregnancy's viability even if I haven't had the 12 week scan.
Arrgh it's so hard isn't it! I hate all this secretiveness especially when its just about the only thing I can think about.
merkin hope you feel better soon Flowers

Dilligufdarling · 07/02/2016 11:10

Hi all,
Can I join?
I'm either 5+3 weeks and due in October or 8 weeks exactly... I had a really weird period at the end of December that I'm wondering if it was implantationConfused. Am planning for the can to make everything clear!
I have a 3 yo ds, and so far this pregnancy is totally different from my first. Last time I had not one day when I felt sick - this time it seems I have a constant underlying nausea.

I'm currently on a business trip somewhere where the food is much different to what I'm used to (sorry - being cagey in case of outing myself) and although i usually love this cuisine, I'm really really struggling as the strong smells and tastes are not what I'm needing right now!
Am also having quite a lot of cramping, not bad, but just aware - don't remember that from last time either...
DH is making scared noises about multiples every time I mention something that's different/more intense this time ShockShockGrin

Am now going to go back and read the thread and try and get to know everyone Smile

missybct · 07/02/2016 11:32

Welcome dilli and congratulations! Flowers

Ashes - the pregnancy vs alcohol thing - you could say you've had a bit of a funny tummy and had a drink getting ready but didn't really agree with you?

Merkin - sorry about the nausea - hope the sickness bands help - I have to admit although my nausea isn't bad I've been wearing them to avoid the possibility - that's how bad my phobia is. Milly - could you try them? I know you also have phobia.

Figgygal · 07/02/2016 12:29

Another one on pregnacare I'm taking the plus version I had no symptoms or tiredness last time and touch wood same so far here so if they have anything to do with it I'll choke them down Smile

I think a lot of hospitals have a don't tell policy when it comes to gender to avoid any issues if they say it's blue then it turns out pink and the parents are litigious knobbers. My hospital do tell though it was blindingly obvious with ds he was a bit his bits were in full view mr Magog would have spotted he was a boy.

Allhallowseve · 07/02/2016 12:51

Seven seas here think I took pregnacare last time . No funny taste with seven seas plus the tablets have days on the packet which is helpful as sometimes I can't remember if I've taken them or not Confused. You've all got me googling early scans now you can get them for £49 here .... I really want one dh doesn't he was adamant last time aswel to wait to the 12 week scan so I will probably just wait . I'm just so desperate to tell people ! Not told anyone yet but only 5 weeks today so still early days don't want to get anyone's hopes up. As far as symptoms go I'm always tired as I have a toddler that doesn't sleep well so not sure if it's pregnancy or just my normal tiredness. Hmm I am definitely more hungry though if I don't eat on time I don't feel too great. Slightly nauseous this morning although not sure if I'm imagining it? And still have a few period pain type aches.

Dilligufdarling · 07/02/2016 13:16

Thanks Missy :)
Am on pregnacare here too. I told my parents over lunch a couple of weeks ago and we'd barely paid the bill before my mum legged it to Holland and Barrett to get me stocked up Grin
They're quite large tablets, but not too difficult.

Definitely tmi, but does anyone else have the runs at this stage? I'm not sure what's a preggo symptom and what could be a genuine stomach upset!

No idea what I'm going to do about not drinking at work. We have a lot of corporate socialising so it's going to be so obvious... And out of character Wink I can't really make up an untrue excuse - I'm a crap liar, I tend to go too elaborate and the get confused and it's really obvious.
Am toying with the idea of having the odd glass of wine, but then stretching it for the whole meal. Last time I stuck to total abstinence though (different job) and would ideally do the same here.

Grumpelstiltskin · 07/02/2016 13:50

I'm on a multi vitamin called Biocare Antenatal Forte. Not one you can find in your local Boots but it was recommended to me by the acupuncturist I was going to for a while as one that was less processed, better absorbed and calmer on the stomach that Pregnacare, which
made my wee go neon. The only annoying thing is that you need to take two a day which I found hard to remember at first.

Think it's about £11 a pot for a month's worth, so a bit pricy, but most websites do multi -buy deals, so 20% off for buying two etc.

Dilli could you possibly get away with having tonic-only g&ts or mocktails? Does make it harder to pull off at work events if you're not buying your own drinks all the time though...

melonribena · 07/02/2016 14:38

I got an itchy rash with pregnacare last time so have gone straight for seven seas this time! I agree that the pleasant purple colour and the fact it tells you days of the week is appealing!

Blueskygirl30 · 07/02/2016 14:59

I'm on pregnacare, I didn't like the pregnacare TTC tablets as they gave me weird 'symptoms' so I stuck with seven seas. I've got a box of each so will probably mix and match.

I've got some work socialising events next week from Wednesday. Fortunately lent starts on Wednesday so I will be giving alcohol up for lent. My manager already knows and the rest of my colleagues will know soon as I can't do my normal job so will have to do some sort of temporary made up job for the next 8 months.

Dilligufdarling · 07/02/2016 17:05

Blue sky!!! That's genius!!! Thank you lent!!!!

Blueskygirl30 · 07/02/2016 19:12

Dill lent is certainly well timed, it ends on the 27th of March, & I reach 12 weeks on the 26th. Handy timing for a few of us!!

Bikey86 · 07/02/2016 19:28

Hello everyone, can I join?
I got a positive test this morning, due baby number 2 17th October. Please can someone add me to the list as I'm.on my phone and I can't seem to do it. Already have a 2 year old DS. Although we have been TTC I felt a little shell shocked this morning when i I got a positive result. Didnt tell DH until after lunch. Feel quite anxious about it but I have no idea why? Did anyone else feel the same?

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/02/2016 20:41

Bikey I felt the same. This is a very much planned and wanted baby but I am very anxious about it all - pregnancy, birth, how I will cope with two, the impact on ds1 and my relationship with him. You are not alone in those feelings.

vivicrocodile · 07/02/2016 20:42

Hi!

Can I join too please? I got my bfp this afternoon. EDD 19th October.

Would someone mind adding me to the list please? I'm on my phone, so I can't.

Vivicrocodile #2 due 19 oct.

I'm so excited but shitting myself a little too!

Do we have a Facebook group? That's what my first group did and I wondered whether that is the 'done' thing!

I hope everyone is doing ok. I have had no symptoms whatsoever so far. I tested with a first response so I'm not 4 weeks yet so maybe that's why?

:D

Bikey86 · 07/02/2016 20:57

Thank you orange that's made me feel loads better. I have been feeling really guilty today as I don't feel excited yet. I'm sure once a few days pass and I get used to the idea I will be fine! I'm mainly worried about the birth and how I will manage with two children.

Reluctantnympho · 07/02/2016 21:00

Hi everyone, sorry I have been a bit quiet. Still fairly symptom free apart from my giant bloated tummy and some headaches. I've already ordered some floaty maternity tops to try and hide the bloat bump at work!
I'm on seven seas as well, I need the days of the week foil pack otherwise I forget if I've taken them or not Confused
I know the sickness will hit me in a few weeks (I've suffered from it with all of my pregnancies) so I'm trying to get an early nesting thing going on, I'm hoping to batch cook and clean a lot this week (optimistic!)
I'm a diet coke fan too, don't drink tea or coffee so I'm not too worried about caffeine, but I do want to ditch the coke ... Struggling with what to replace it with though!

wetsnow · 07/02/2016 21:05

Would love to do a Facebook group vivi works well for my Feb 14.

Anyone watch call the midwife. So upsetting.

Friday28 · 07/02/2016 21:09

Hello,
Can I join you too?! I got my bfp this morning and already have a 2 year old DD.
I too am having a massive freak out! Am hoping excitement comes after I've got used to the idea a bit. I feel really bad for not jumping for joy. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
I'm a teacher too- think there's a few of us on here from what I've read so far! X
