Wow! First here. Well actually mine #2 is due 30th Sept by dates but as DD was 10d late I guess Oct is the place to be. I was in Oct 14 so Oct 16 seems to be the right place to be. Anyone else?

Private scans seem to be about £79-99 in Edinburgh... Three years ago they were £49! Bloody inflation! Not sure I can cope with the anxiety for the next 7 weeks until my nhs one though!

SimileMilly · 06/02/2016 10:57

I've spent an embarrassing amount on tests Blush

Early private scans are around £100 here (central Scotland). Mine is two weeks tomorrow and I am sooo nervous!

The nausea has well and truly hit here. Only actually been sick once - at work, the shame! - but the feeling just keeps hitting me. I'm another who is TERRIFIED of being sick and usually ends up a snotty, spewwy, sobbing mess if I ever am sick Blush

What are everyone's plans this weekend? We're viewing a bigger house that we probably won't buy and have friends for dinner/to watch the rugby tonight. Have a feeling we're going to have to tell them as there's no real way we can hide me not drinking.

wetsnow · 06/02/2016 13:03

Ooh nice to view anyway simile

Dd's birthday party... Duggleby themed. Set up different zones for the children to earn their badges. It starts at 3 and Dd is currently nap refusing 😐

wetsnow · 06/02/2016 13:03

Duggee!

Figgygal · 06/02/2016 19:10

Hope the party went well wet

Similie we made an offer on a house yesterday waiting to hear back on it the idea of moving when pg isn't cool but the idea of staying here with another baby is scary too already feel we busting out and we live in a 3 bed.......had a massive loft declutter today i have literally filled a suitcase with 12-24 month clothes .......fingers crossed for another boy

SimileMilly · 06/02/2016 20:16

Good luck figgy! I've moved when pg and with a 1 year old - neither particularly fun. Decided to stay put in our tiny two bed for another year or two as by then we'll be in a position to rent this out and buy somewhere else. In theory!

Leodensian · 06/02/2016 22:14

Hello all, Happy weekend!

I seem to be easing on the wind thankfully, though I have blamed the cat a time or two!

We've got DS's friend to stay tonight and I'm exhausted! The last few days I've napped from about 5pm, but had to keep going today, think I've done a good zombie impression at least! They were asleep by 8:30 and only barricaded the door once...

What vitamins are you all using? I picked up the pregnacare ones today as our little Boots branch didn't have their own brand ones in (which I used last time with no problems). I know they're all pretty much the same but these have a really strong taste which had me gagging.

My boobs are still painful so I dug through my old maternity clothes and found my sleep bras and oh! The relief! Why do we torture ourselves with under wires?!

LisaTheGreek · 06/02/2016 22:41

Leodensian - good to hear about the wind! Unfortunately one of my cats is already a bit smelly at the moment (he's got a tummy bug), so if I blame it on the cat DH says 'no, he cut one a minute ago' Grin

I'm also on Pregnacare and completely agree about the strong, horrid taste. Glad I'm not the only one. I think it's the iron - I've had to take iron tablets before (I'm a little anaemic generally) and the taste is metallic and disgusting.

I hadn't thought about using any others. I figured they'd all taste the same, but if you're right and they're not I think I will change.

ashesandfire · 06/02/2016 23:36

leo I'm also using pregnacare but not having any problems with it atm. Used boots own brand last time fine but this time was struggling to get to the shops and ordered pregnacare off amazon- cheaper too.
Saw my NCT girls tonight from first pregnancy and discovered that one of them is due on august- so excited! Didn't tell them our news as want to wait until 12 week scan but really chuffed I'll have a local friend on mat leave at the same time Grin

Alwaysinahurrynow · 07/02/2016 05:53

I'm another Pregnacare fan here, but have heard before that others don't like them.

Ashes - it's great having someone you've been through it before with again. Two of my NCT friends had second babies at the same time as me and we ended up spending lot of time together. I'm hoping that I find out a friend is due about the same time again as having to go to a third set of any antenatal classes to meet more people doesn't fill me with glee.

wetsnow · 07/02/2016 06:44

I didn't do antenatal classes last time... but met loads of local mummies anyway and bow have my own group of lovely local friends.
(Lisa I met them all in the Eltham centre .. fab place for mums on maternity leave)

Party was a success. Dd was exhausted by the end but a happy girlie.

No farting here... In fact still nothing here at all... I couldn't keep my eyes open past 9pm last night... but I did wake up at 5am plus I have an eye infection.

Family all over today for birthday party number two.

I'm taking seven seas I think... will check. Didn't like prenacare last time.

Happy Sunday ladies xxx

IndiX · 07/02/2016 07:49

Ladies can I join?
My name is indi, 4+5 and due around 11-13th October.
Symptoms are sore and gigantic boobs and bloating, no sickness/nauseous yet. I'm so excited for this journey, I have an early scan booked in at 8 weeks it was only £39 and who could refuse that?! So I can't wait to hear a heartbeat to put my mind at rest.
Oh I'm also a testing addict, been doing pg tests everyday since I found out BlushGrin

wetsnow · 07/02/2016 08:08

Welcome indi
Is it your first?
You are all so organised... must call doc tomorrow. :)

Ladycrazycat · 07/02/2016 08:20

Hi Indi and congratulations!

I'm starting to feel nauseous on and off (but still convincing myself I'm imagining it). I'm also struggling to eat much as I feel full all the time.

All other symptoms have gone and I'm trying so hard not to worry but it is difficult. Even my complete exhaustion which has been there since before my BFP has got a little better. I managed to go to bed at 10.30 on Friday and midnight last night! Given 8.30pm has been a stretch sometimes that is quite an achievement!

I still haven't heard about my booking in appointment. I'm very tempted to book a private scan for around 8 or 9 weeks as I don't think I can wait until 12 weeks, especially if it doesn't happen until nearer 14 weeks! I'm six weeks tomorrow.

IndiX · 07/02/2016 08:28

Hi ladies!
Yes wetsnow it's my first, I'm so excited. Time is going so slowly at the mo, I can't wait to get my scan and start baby shopping!
I'm completely exhausted too, it usually hits 2/3pm and I NEED to nap, my eyes sting and I have to lie down. I am not a daytime napper either so it's strange for me to feel that tired.
Have any of you told your family/friends yet? Ive told immediate family and I'm very tempted to tell my 2 best friends but I'm going to try to hold out until after the 8 week scan. It's so hard though!

Blueskygirl30 · 07/02/2016 08:45

Hi Indie congratulations on your BFP. I'm due on the 8th, so just a few days apart! I told my parents the day I got my BFP and will tell the rest of my immediate family after my 6 week scan. Then I'll probably tell my closest friends when I see them. I know what you mean about time going slowly, I am so nervous about this scan, I just want to get there already!!

melonribena · 07/02/2016 08:53

Congrats indi and welcome!

How do you go about organising 6 week and 8 week scans? I'm 6+1 and it sounds fantastic!

IndiX · 07/02/2016 09:00

Thanks blue congratulations to you too! I wish I had the option of a 6 week, I couldn't have waited until a 12 week definitely. As soon as I saw they did 8 week scans near me I booked in straight away. I'm nervous too, I just want to hear a heartbeat and then will feel fine I think.
Melon I just googled private ultrasounds in my area and a few clinics came up. You can get them from 8 weeks near me, plus I'm going to book a 16/17 week one to find out the gender as the NHS won't tell me at my 20 week scan!

melonribena · 07/02/2016 09:27

Thanks indi!
**
Why won't they tell you at 20 weeks? Is that the policy at the hospital?

ashesandfire · 07/02/2016 09:35

Congrats indi!
We've just told my mum so far, and I told my childminder because she kept asking about arrangements for September and I couldn't work it out! I'm thinking I might tell my brother and SIL soon as need to ask my SIL to babysit dd when I have my dating scan. With everyone else I think I'll wait til the 12 week scan which seems like aaaaages away.
I have my stepsisters hen do to go to at the start of march and I'm a bit stuck about what to say. Any thoughts?! It'll be before 12 week scan. My SIL is going and I think that's another reason to tell her so I have someone 'on side' as it were. I don't really want to tell people the real reason I'm not drinking as I don't want to be accused of stealing my stepsisters thunder as it were!! Maybe I'll just say I'm doing 'dry March'?! Im not sure anyone would buy that though given how much i love wine!...or I'm on antibiotics. ....any other clever ideas? !

IndiX · 07/02/2016 09:44

Melon I live in Scotland and apparently it's my hospitals police, annoying though!
Ashes I was quite a sociable party girl before getting pregnant so I know I'll be invited out or to someone's house for drinks and I keep thinking of excuses too. I'm thinking of saying I'm doing a 'detox' for lent..I'm not religious but gives me a good excuse to not drink and enough time until I want to announce after my 8 week scan. Also people don't really question giving up things for lent so won't get the awkward looks or questions as you would with the antibiotics excuse!

melonribena · 07/02/2016 09:46

Indi, that's rubbish!! I understand why you'd organise a separate scan!

IndiX · 07/02/2016 09:47

*policy that was meant to say. Not hospital police haha

LisaTheGreek · 07/02/2016 09:56

Wetsnow - that's really helpful, thank you! Will check it out.

Welcome Indi - lovely to see you again!

Ladycrazycat · 07/02/2016 10:02

Ashes it's tricky. It's work night outs that'll be difficult for me and I hate that as soon as someone uses the 'I'm on antibiotics excuse' everyone seems to know. As a result I've decided I'd just much rather be honest about it, but of course I can't with work friends as I'll need to officially tell work (I.e head of department) first! Luckily the time of year is making it easier for me as there are not Christmas drinks and for once no one is leaving/getting married!

I totally get not wanting of steal your stepsisters thunder. Will there be many people at the hen who you know well and who will know it's not normal for you to drink? If not then I'd maybe have a quiet work with your step sister in advance and tell her but explain you not really don't want it to be public knowledge, especially as the day should be about her. If I was her I'd think how lovely that you are being so considerate.
