OK, OK, so we already had a couple of babies on the last thread, but we're going to struggle to keep up with the number of new arrivals in this one!!!

Hello and welcome newbies and lurkers, welcome back to those who found they had a life!

I think threads like these ebb and flow. I'm rubbish at joining in (avoided antenatal like the plague etc) & find this just right in terms of interaction. I do worry I'm not doing it right but you lot seem nice enough not to think I'm not.

My 37 week appointment was the same as previous. Vaginal exams can be avoided for most people most of the time anyway.

xingxing I think a little gap to think makes sense anyway. My hospital couldn't arrange for same day if they tried and the guidance does suggest it's safer done on a dedicated list than ad hoc so I think you are right. We are currently at anxiety level 5 - I will let you know. I'm mainly scared I will be a wuss and find it too painful!

Rufus baby can engage and then just sit down in your pelvis for a couple of weeks though the situation you've described surely means it will come soon just to spite you Shock

It is 30 citing trying to guess who's next

Pogmella · 20/01/2016 14:42

waves

Just lurking mainly now Wink

Delurks

I'm still around, although generally under a different nickname since this one was on The List for Hackergate, but hey ho, passwords have been changed since then and security's been ramped up yadda yadda yadda.

36+1 today, saw MW yesterday and all is well. Baby is head down but not engaged yet. Heartbeat is all good, movements are regular, all seems to be going well. Had to have a growth scan a couple of weeks ago when my bump was measuring small, but scan showed baby was all good and well proportioned and nicely within the normal range, so just turned out to be a naice afternoon off work, and a sneak peek at the youngling.

Just counting down the last days of work, ML starts on Monday (well, on Friday at 6pm, but won't sink in until Monday morning) and I am bloomin' well looking forward to doing a whole heap of sleeping and as little else as possible until the big day arrives. Bags are packed, just need to make sure the car seat and going home pramsuit are somewhere obvious for when I need someone to collect them and then bring me and baby home. When do the nerves kick in? I don't know whether I'm in denial, or am genuinely chilled out about the whole thing.

Have GP appt at 38 weeks, then back to the MW for 40 weeks. I think I'd expected more appointments this late in the game, but as there's nothing worrying going on with baby or me it's actually kind of reassuring that they don't want to be constantly monitoring me. MW mentioned that she would likely offer a sweep at the 40 week appt (which would be the first time in going there that she'll have done a physical exam - so far it's been pee pots and palpating/measuring my belly), and also that we'd book an induction that day, as is standard for this area, but most women don't keep that appt, so it's not a portent of expecting to go way overdue.

BlueKarou · 20/01/2016 15:33

(p.s. could someone pm me how to find the FB group? Thanks!)

clarabellski · 20/01/2016 15:33

Loving the delurking ladies!!!!

Your experience sounds pretty much the same as mine blue. My regular midwife is such a relaxed lady - I guess you need to be in their line of work!

7 babies Pheonix! Shock I'm struggling to get my head around having the one!

Phoenix80 · 20/01/2016 15:38

Yep 7 babies, she must be mad lol 😂

Blue - if you pm Islamann she can add you to the Facebook group. Tell her your man name, real name and a description of your profile pic she can find you xx

Cot is up 😀

BlueKarou · 20/01/2016 15:51

Thanks Phoenix - will do that.

I'm on my 3rd midwife, Clara - first was nice lady, but she retired before the end of last year, so I didn't see much of her. I then had a temporary mw before the new one for the area took over all the local cases. She seems lovely but in a sensible way, which is what works best for me; I can find the really lovey dovey people a bit too cloying.

Stepawayfromthezebras · 20/01/2016 15:57

Does anyone know how charlotterose is doing? She was having a really tough time at the beginning and I often wonder how she's getting on

birdbrain21 · 20/01/2016 16:01

Someone else on the facebook group had her baby yesterday but I don't know her mumsnet nickname and it's not my news to announce really ;)
Haf my check up this morning all well at 39+3 been seeing my community midwife for check ups but booked into a different hospital for birth so I won't see her now till postnatal check ups when I'm home with the baby! Due on Monday but not sure if braxton hicks mean baby will come in the next few days or on time because didn't have any last time and was induced at 41 weeks guess it's just a waiting game now!!!

XingXingFox · 20/01/2016 16:05

pogmella have been wondering about you! It's lovely to see so many people back. And glad things are going well, not long till we're in antenatal! Does a grad thread exist already?

I just came back from scan and thankfully the baby has turned to the right position! I felt her move on way over on the long walk to the hospital and it was such a relief. I think the walk helped. I'm 37 weeks on Friday so really hoping she stays in position now.

Slightly worryingly they found some cysts on her (not mine) ovaries so I have to have another scan on Friday to see whether she'll need an op when she's born. I'm struggling to find out any info about this but really really hoping all is okay. From one thing to another!

Hopefully this brings hope to fellow breechers as she's been in breech position from 20 to 36.5 so it seemed unlikely she would turn!

haquoi123 · 20/01/2016 16:13

Hello delurkers, welcome back!! :)

fox that is fantastic news about baby flipping, well done baby fox! Poor girl though with the cysts, (it's incredible what technology can do), I've got my fingers crossed for you for Friday.

Pogmella · 20/01/2016 16:26

Smile 38 weeks and all very text book- just playing the waiting game at the moment!

I might de-lurk, the vibe I wasn't so keen on seems to be gone and its really positive reading Smile

madsaz76 · 20/01/2016 16:39

Great news xingxing Smile

Phoenix80 · 20/01/2016 16:45

Good news for turning baby xing x

goodnightdarthvader1 · 20/01/2016 17:11

Hello, I'm delurking too :)

Bump feeling very odd today, very tight and random pains all over. Wondering if this is BH?

Can't believe it's just over 3 weeks til my due date!

HandbagFan · 20/01/2016 17:21

xingxing that's fantastic news!

MidnightRun · 20/01/2016 18:01

Hahaha love the idea of a baby called boris clarabell.. He would absolutely have to look like boris Johnston or boris Becker (although is it just me or do they look similar anyway!)

I spent my day off in and out of the doctors surgery, Iv seen the doctor, midwife and nurse today! Been given numerous blood tests and even an ecg. Looks like I'm suffering from anaemia so totally easy sorted! Doctors says blood tests from my 28 week check up showed I was boderline, but at the same time there was a change in midwives at the practice and it's just kind of been missed as new midwife thought previous midwife had addressed the situation. All good now though, plus I really like the new midwife so I couldn't be annoyed with her :p

I am so excited to start hearing you all having babies. I'm baby daft now.. I'm loving people telling me their birth stories! Gory details, weights, how long labour took!

XingXingFox · 20/01/2016 19:55

Thanks everyone! Smile

goodnightdarthvader1 · 20/01/2016 20:31

Anyone have experience of turning babies? I read 10 mins twice a day on all fours, but anyone have any other tips that worked for them?

haquoi123 · 20/01/2016 21:15

darth, following. Not trying to flip mine but he's back to back. I've been going upside down off the edge of the sofa occasionally, but bubs just seems to move higher and spin one way and then settle back in his happy place. Given up this evening and relaxing on the sofa Blush (bad mummy). Have you checked out spinning babies website? Loads of people swear by it

NorthernChinchilla · 20/01/2016 21:22

It would be nice if 11 hour days were a thing of the past at 8+ months pregnant, but hey....
Lovely to see so many people delurking too, especially so close to our landing dates.

Good luck tomorrow mad, let us know how you get on.
Great news ref her position Xing. Bit scary to know about the cysts, but at least if they're identified early they can be sorted asap.

XingXingFox · 20/01/2016 22:38

Hi darth I tried acupuncture but really it was the same info as the spinning babies site plus the needles in the little toe. It's quite pricey. The thing that seemed to do it for me was a long walk!

Murloc · 20/01/2016 22:45

Hello! Just delurking here too. Locked myself out of MN after hackergate, name changed (was MemphisBella) and missed so much on here I didn't know where to start catching up!

37+2 now, and stubbornly breech baby has now flipped and is head down. This scares me, since DD was breech until the end so my lovely repeat planned section is now out of the window!

Fed up of waddling now, chasing DD is really taking it out of me. I wish she'd left it a couple more weeks before learning how to climb up the stairs.

Tis nice to be back!

CalypsoLilt · 20/01/2016 23:02

Aaahhhhhh lovely to be back and reading everyone's updates :)

Acupuncture is the only thing that has sorted my insomnia.

Anyone else get horrific night sweats?

MaisieDotes · 20/01/2016 23:15

chinchilla that sounds shit, when are you starting Mat leave?

Hi murloc I used to be someone else too before Jeffreygate. Glad to have you back Smile

calypso no sweats (yet) but loads of hot flushes to accompany the BHs.
