Glad all the scans went well guys :)

Anyone seeing/seen a consultant who had a c-section first time? Not sure what to expect other than for them to encourage a VBAC as I basically did all the hard work but couldn't shift DC1 when pushing as her head was too big. Did have a haemorrhage so they might take that into account.

Not sure what questions I should be asking the consultant?

MollieRos · 01/02/2016 18:24

Brilliant Eastend and Jelly

Emma my 20 week scan was the same as others have said- it took about 30 mins and they didn't do any bloods or urine. I was supposed to go with a full bladder but hadn't really had that much to drink and it wasn't a problem.

nehagarg mine is still enjoying kicking my cervix to pieces too, I wish he'd move a bit further up, it's not the most pleasant feeling!

I've been waking up around 5am for the last little while, and he tends to be really active around then (which doesn't bode well for the future...!), so then I can't get back to sleep because he's kicking so much.

I have an anterior placenta but I've been feeling strong kicks for a while, he kicks throughout the day (and night!), and I can see little kicks if I'm looking at the right time. I'm really intrigued as to what it must feel like if your placenta isn't on the front muffling everything, the kicks seem really big as it is!

Cartooner · 01/02/2016 18:27

Lovely scan photo there, great side profile! I had my scan, the photos are not great, baby wasn't co-operating.

I am in shock, happy shock of course but I'm having my FOURTH BOY! HELP ME. Ha ha. Grin

Just had to share that here as it's top secret. I told my sister on text and she was cracking up. It's my last baby, so I am a mum of boys for life now LOL

mrsmugoo · 01/02/2016 18:48

Dollydaydream - I'm seeing the consultant next Monday due to my previous ELCS. I'm guessing they will just ask me if I intend for a VBAC and let me know what the options are.

dollydaydream84 · 01/02/2016 18:54

congrats cartooner! xx

mrsmugoo - the midwife basically said it wasn't up to me, it was up to what the consultant recommended which scared me quite a bit because though I'm not against the idea of a VBAC, at that moment (and even now) I would have opted for a C-section again. If I had a small headed baby this time maybe a VBAC would be fine but I was really hoping to make the decision myself! Hope it goes well for you next week x

kezod · 01/02/2016 19:22

Congrats Cartooner my scan was today too, and we're also TEAM BLUE!
So excited, last time they were preparing us for NICU at this stage and a 28 week delivery if we could get that far, and this time it's all normal and growing great. DH and I were in complete shock, even though we both feel its gone better and completely different this time around, but now its confirmed, we're so excited. we were also convinced it was a girl!
Jelly I've messaged you about joining the FB group!

strawberrypenguin · 01/02/2016 19:44

Great news kezod wow cartooner 4 boys, we're having trouble finding a name we like for our second! Don't envy you that challenge 😀 Glad the scan was ok.

Belvedere · 01/02/2016 20:16

Dolly. I saw a consultant before Christmas about my last cs. They don't try and persuade you either way (unless they strongly think you need to do either way)
They mainly look at your old labour notes and advise if they think you could do a vbac or not and the pros and cons of CS or vbac. They give you some leaflets and organise to see you again around 34 weeks when you have to decide.

Catlover1 · 01/02/2016 20:42

Jellybean many thanks for your patience today and adding me to the Facebook group .. Love it !

mrsmugoo · 01/02/2016 20:57

Dolly I am 100% intending for a VBAC and I'll be asking questions to the effect of how I can make it happen and what are my options with regards to things like going overdue, induction, continuous monitoring (I don't want it!) and how I can be treated as much like a first timer as possible as my ELCS was for breech so I'm completely untested at labour and if this baby is head down (prays!!) then other than the 0.5% risk of scar rupture I should be allowed to give birth "naturally" (gutted I won't able to use the lovely MLU and be stuck in a delivery room but whatevs)

MollieRos · 01/02/2016 21:30

cartooner wow, 4 boys!

laughingGnomette · 01/02/2016 23:59

dolly - my consultant didnt try and convince me either way, just gave me the facts and kept my options open. Do you have any strong feelings about which birth you'd prefer? I just asked questions about scenarios that worried me like would they induce? (She said yes they could if I was ok with that).

Aahhh! Four boys cartooner - amazing!! :-D

A collection of wonderful scans today ladies, congratulations!!

BiffleRoo · 02/02/2016 06:41

Sorry ladies but I need to vent (again)!! My DS hasn't slept properly in weeks. DH is at sea and away for another 4 weeks. I am totally exhausted and at breaking point. Not sure how much longer I can do this for Sad

Belleboo23 · 02/02/2016 07:07

Congratulations on the scans yesterday!

Well 20 weeks today here, it felt forever away not that long ago

Mrspopper · 02/02/2016 08:51

Poor you biffle. Sleep deprivation is just the worst :( chocolate?

Eastend2015 · 02/02/2016 08:54

Hi all, thanks for all the congrats and lovely to see everyone else's good news too! Four boys cartooner, sounds like you'll have lots of fun in store!

Biffle no advice I'm afraid, I can't imagine DH being away for so long. Is anyone else local who can lend a hand.

Nehagarg hand squeeze lovely, thinking of you.

GrubbyWindows · 02/02/2016 09:14

Oh Biffle you are having a time of it! For what it's worth, I think you are awesome keeping it together! Vent away!

I remember you don't have a massive local support network, ugh. My friend in a similar situation booked an agency sitter and a b&b for a night, and took herself off for a proper nights sleep. Expensive and a bit mad, but she certainly didn't regret it!

Torfhinn · 02/02/2016 15:59

Sorry you are struggling biffle. Is there a reason your little one isn't sleeping well? Are there any strategies that can help improve the situation?

Bought a new pushchair today! Struggling with the weight of the travel system since the start of spd so bought a light weight 3 wheeler. Excited to try it out!

I have my second anterior placenta so have no idea what full on kicks feel like. I only tend to feel kicks low down, I'm guessing below the level of the placenta.

Wonderful news about the scans ladies Smile

MollieRos · 02/02/2016 18:01

Sorry you're having such a tough time Biffle. Exhaustion like that makes everything so much harder. Do you have anyone else you can ask for some help? friends/family that could even give you a couple of hours to sleep while they look after your DS? Or even just some time to yourself? And do vent away on here if it helps! Smile

iamdivergent · 02/02/2016 20:45

Lying on the sofa and this little man is kicking away, you can see it from the outside - it's lovely, he seems to have really woken up since scan!

suz1rr · 02/02/2016 22:08

Hi everyone, my first post on here! I am 21weeks, with my first child, and had my scan on 27.01.16, we didn't find out the sex, want to keep it a surprise! Still being sick most mornings, usually within 5-10minutes of waking, and then feel ok the rest of the day, though getting strong ligament pains most days which are annoying!
Bought a pink lining change bag at the weekend with my birthday money, first pregnancy thing I have bought so far! Looking at ordering pram in next few weeks, looking at the V4 out and about nipper?
I am just outside Glasgow and my due date is 12.06.16 :)

laughingGnomette · 02/02/2016 22:21

Welcome suz!

Aahhh! How lovely iam.

emma85x · 02/02/2016 22:46

Welcome suz1rr 😃

Eastend2015 · 02/02/2016 23:27

Welcome Suz! I think I am coming down with another cold. It's only been 3 weeks since the last one, grrrr!

emma85x · 03/02/2016 06:49

Morning all. Nothing like starting the day with tmi! Apologies in advance. Is anyone else constantly 'damp' down below. I think I'm going to have to buy some pads today. I can't work out whether it's discharge, urine or God forbid an amniotic fluid leak. Scan is tomorrow so I'll raise it with the Sonographer but I was wondering if anyone else is in the same position? Again... Sorry for tmi. It's odd, for weeks all I could think about is how excited I am for the scan and now it's tomorrow I'm really really nervous.
