I've hit 21 weeks and all I want to do is eat!!!! Going to have to make sure I have some healthy snacks to hand!

MollieRos · 31/01/2016 20:34

We were given a big box of newborn and 0-3 clothes by my lovely friend this weekend (way more clothes than I can imagine using!!), so we've just spent some time going through it all. DH and I are still a bit mystified by all the different clothes options, I'm not really sure what combinations of things we're actually supposed to dress him in, so I'm hoping it becomes more obvious when we have an actual baby to dress!

Potkettleblack2 · 31/01/2016 20:50

I'm the same and I already have one baby! It should become obvious to us once these little ones arrive! It's great to get a load from friends though-some days you will go through more baby clothes than you would have ever thought possible!
And if you have a sicky baby you might go through more of your own clothes in a day than you'd thought possible!

JellyBaby26 · 31/01/2016 21:22

I have a sicky baby and am in my second outfit and she is in her third.

Beds often require changing in the middle of the night as well, much to DH annoyance!

JellyBaby26 · 31/01/2016 23:25

Oooh just had first kick visable from the outside?

Coldest · 31/01/2016 23:33

Must feel amazing jelly!

MollieRos · 01/02/2016 06:57

Lovely Jelly it's so strange isn't it, I love seeing little kicks! seems crazy that something so little can boot so hard Smile

strawberrypenguin · 01/02/2016 07:22

Amazing jelly Smile
I never got that last time as placenta was in the way. Hoping to be able to see this one move - he's thumping about quite hard sometimes so I think it will happen I just need to be looking!

emma85x · 01/02/2016 09:03

How lovely jellybelly! 😀

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect at my 20 week scan on Thursday? Do they take bloods and weigh you like they did at the 12 week scan? Do you need to have a full bladder again? Last time my bladder was so full the ultrasound hurt as they were pressing on it so hard!

So excited for the scan. MIL doesn't want to know the sex and is adamant that she will not change her mind. Really annoyed!! Everyone else will know why be so blinking awkward? Conversations will be so censored and she won't be able to see the nursery or anything. Told DH to have a word.... Not likely!! 😀

strawberrypenguin · 01/02/2016 09:44

They didn't take bloods at mine emma and you don't need scull bladder as baby is bigger and not hiding in your pelvis anymore. I went to the toilet literally just before o went into the scan room and they had a perfect view of everything. This one also tends to be a slightly longer scan - mine was 40 mins but I had a trainee registrar doing mine so it was a bit longer than average I think usual for a 20 wk is 20-30mins depending on how co-operative baby is being!

strawberrypenguin · 01/02/2016 09:44

Full bladder even - random autocorrect!

laughingGnomette · 01/02/2016 10:51

strawberry - it felt like I had a skull for a bladder during my 12wk scan :)

Kicks have suddenly got much stronger here and can be felt by DP. I keep getting them right up by my ribs too, I can't believe he is that big already!

jellybelly85 · 01/02/2016 11:10

Just had 20 week scan - all good! emma no bloods or urine, just had sonographer doing a detailed ultrasound scan of baby's whole body. Charged us £5 for photo. Baby kept their legs crossed for us - so we're staying team yellow.

Your scan letter should let you know if you need a full bladder or not (think this depends what type of scan machine they have - I never needed a full bladder). Hope it goes well on Thursday for you!

Started to get random kicks and feelings - sometimes little bubbles (or what I like to imagine as teeny farts on my belly) and other times more defined pokes. Very strange!

bikingintherain · 01/02/2016 11:16

Good news jelly congratulations!

Anyone else still exhausted? The second trimester bloom is mostly definitely not showing itself here. I'm as tired if not tireder than the first trimester! All be it the sickness has mostly gone, so for that I'm grateful . I wonder if I need to up my intake of food? I really haven't had much of an appetite recently, I think I eat less than I did pre pregnancy!

Eastend2015 · 01/02/2016 11:18

All clear for my 20 week scan and still team yellow. So relieved!! Feeling even more knackered than usual as I don't think I slept at all!

Coldest · 01/02/2016 11:19

jellybelly love your user name. Glad everything went well at the scan. I was told not to have a full bladder for the anomaly scan.

nehagarg · 01/02/2016 12:35

Loving the good news on the scans and kicks ... Congrats Eastend, Jellybelly Smile

Mine's staying away from my ribs for now though he does seem to think my cervix is a football. Are you still having lazy days? There are days when I dont feel the baby move as much and then days where he seems to be throwing a party in there.

Definitely nehagarg. My midwife said up until 26 weeks there was nothing to worry about, after that she said to start taking notice of movements/changes etc. and if I noticed baby wasn't moving as much or at all to give them a call.

But that is with a placenta in the 'normal' i.e. not in front position. I don't know what the situation is there.

mrsmugoo · 01/02/2016 13:07

Very little movement here - I mainly notice it in the evening when I am laying on the sofa and being very still and it's very light - but that's an anterior placenta for you!

With a posterior placenta I was watching my belly pulsate at 22 weeks last time.

When they get bigger though you can't fail to feel that movements regardless of the placenta and that is when you need to be aware of your own babies patterns of movement. Midwife said by my next appt at 28 weeks I should definitely be able to feel the movement stronger.

nehagarg · 01/02/2016 13:37

Good to know that I have a few more weeks to go before lack of movement will become worrisome. I am 23 weeks today with a normally positioned placenta. I can feel him kick my hand quite often now when he is in his element. So that's all good. I just wondered as some days are quieter than others.

Like you mrsmugoo, I do feel him much more when I am laying down or relaxed instead of at work or walking or cooking etc.

Great news on the scans jelly and eastend

Little guy seems to have a pretty well established pattern here already (22wks) there are definitely times of day when I'm pretty much guaranteed to feel him moving. I think there are quieter days sometimes although harder to tell if I'm having an active day rather than a day stuck behind my desk!

Yep still tired here biking I'm definitely feeling if more this time but then as DH keeps telling me I'm older and have a 4 year old this time too!

Glad everything went well with today's scans, congrats jelly and eastend.

cautiousoptimist1 · 01/02/2016 17:57

Congrats eastend and jelly, 2 more in team yellow!

I won't be joining the FB group either so hope we can establish a list of essentials here too.

I'm having trouble sleeping at the moment, I wake up for 2-3 hours in the night and just can't get comfortable. Saying that I had a busy day yesterday and slept much better, still waking up but actually getting back to sleep.

I've also not felt any movement, I thought I'd had a flutter or two weeks ago but nothing now. I'm another one with an anterior placenta so the sonographer said its normal not to feel anything yet but I'm getting impatient now!
