I would agree be careful with the bjorn. They are not hip friendly for babies and my dd was born with hip dysplasia so I researched a bit. We loved the boba carrier which can also be used on your back.

Eastend2015 · 29/01/2016 21:28

Thanks for all the comments! It was a baby bjorn miracle so it sounds a bit different. It had a big supportive lumbar strap for me and it is adjustable for the size of the baby so not sure how it could dangle! The salesman did mention not using it if the baby has hip dysplasia but otherwise it should be fine, just not for longer than 2 hours like a car seat.

Potkettleblack2 · 30/01/2016 00:08

I can't sleep!
I'm planning that this baby will mostly be wearing babygrows/sleepsuits in his/her first few weeks...given they will be summer babies, do you all think our babies will be wearing short or long sleeve vests under the babygrows? I know it will change if there's a heat wave or if it's unusually cold-but what are you all expecting to dress them in?!

Mrspopper · 30/01/2016 00:40

Seems with the latest design bjorn have made a hip friendly carrier.

I would second trying out different slings, baby carriers. We got an ergo (for me). And husband got a baby bjorn. We didn't get much use out of either.

Belvedere · 30/01/2016 07:03

I loved my baby bjorn when ds was tiny but then it's quite uncomfortable as they get bigger so I bought an ergo which is super comfy! I'm not a massive sling user but it is very handy.

Re. Vests. I think it will be too warm for long sleeves and if it does suddenly get cold you could always run to sainsburys and buy some.

MadrigalElectromotive · 30/01/2016 07:33

I've bought a second hand moby wrap for the early weeks. I like that it is so soft and stretchy. Probably we'll try out various slings after that but we're lucky because the city that we live in has a sling library so it is easy to try out various different types.

mrsmugoo · 30/01/2016 07:35

I imagine in June / July / Aug they will be sleeping in just one clothing layer (vest or sleepsuit, def not both) and a 1 tog grobag or thin blanket.

My DS was born in March and through the summer months he spent his days in short sleeve vests or just a nappy. Even now he bloody hates being cold and wearing layers!

nehagarg · 30/01/2016 07:54

Oh my God Violet. I hope you are okay and dont have any more pain. Glad that the baby is okay. Tough little things, aren't they?

Glad the John Lewis appointment went well Eastend. I am really looking forward to mine now. Have finally got my list narrowed down to a Joolz or an icandy peach. Baby show might give good deals on them. Now on to cots!

potkettle DS is a June baby and I put him in short sleeve vests and sleep suits and he was far too hot. Most of the time he was in just a sleepsuit or a vest or a shortie romper or just a nappy. Having had two winter babies previously it took some getting used to!

JellyBaby26 · 30/01/2016 08:15

Dd was born in May last year and it was a super hot summer. Our bedroom was 35 plus. She was in vest and swaddle/muslin. WAY to hot for sleepsuits !

AmIseeingRight · 30/01/2016 09:01

violet sorry you had such an awful time but pleased all is well and bubba is fine, wishing you a quick recovery Flowers

Im thinking of going to the baby show on Sunday too but my nanny friend has put me off saying its a waste of time, while my cousin who had a baby last summer and went last spring says it was brilliant and she would go again. so torn but i read someone had a code for discount, but cant remember who or if they shared so if anyone still has a discount code that may help sway me as i will spend less money for 2/3 tickets.

emma85x · 30/01/2016 09:34

amiseeingright you should definitely go! It'll be fun! Lots of freebies! The discount code is MFME and gives you 20% off.

violet so pleased you're both OK, must've been a real shock. Bless you

AmIseeingRight · 30/01/2016 10:22

thanks emma85x

Just need oh to come along, he's not keen at all so might just go with my cousin and her baby.

Coldest · 30/01/2016 10:27

Violet glad everything is OK Flowers

First DD was born in Feb so am.also finding it difficult what to buy clothes wise.

Osirus · 30/01/2016 12:39

Had my scan on Thursday morning - all was fine and no concerns at all! It's such a relief and can now finally enjoy being pregnant. Finally bought some maternity clothes. I can't believe it's halfway already. It looks like I'll be off work from the end of April due to so much holiday to take - so a long time off before due date (16th June). I can't wait!

emma85x · 30/01/2016 13:28

Congratulations on your scan Osirus

emma85x · 30/01/2016 13:29

And we're due date buddies ☺

Coldest · 30/01/2016 14:01

Congratulations on the scan Osirus.

Anyone else due on 8 June? I am having my scan quite late now that I think of it. Will be around 23 weeks.

Also does anyone have suggestions for electric swinging baby chair?

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 30/01/2016 14:01

DS was born in in summer 2013 and it was bloody boiling. He wore a nappy and a short sleeved poppered vest most of the time.

We had few slings - caboo, Bjorn and one a lot like a Tula. Much preferred the other two over the Bjorn. The Caboo was a lifesaver in the early days. I found the Bjorn really dug in to my shoulders and he just seemed comfier in the others.

Hope you are all well. Nor been around much as have v big exam in March so rationing my time. 20 week scan last wwwk and all good. Team Yellow.

Potkettleblack2 · 30/01/2016 14:13

Great getting advice on clothes! I think I'll have lots of short sleeved vests and normal babygrows ready. Moving DC1 out of his cot bed and into his big bed tonight in preparation for baby2!

laughingGnomette · 30/01/2016 14:31

Yay Osirus!! Fab news :)

JellyBaby26 · 30/01/2016 17:12

Coldest in the 9th !

We have a mamas and papas starlite swing which was fantastic. Swings and has lights and songs !

We also have a joie bouncer which is good also plays music and vibrates

And a jumperoo (jumperpoo!) and bumbo. She has more seats than we do !

DH just booked us a hotel for a wedding in October and said 2 children and I got really excited!!

I can recommend MAM bottles as well if anyone is buying for ff or just as an incase thing. You don't need a steriliser for them as they self sterilise so one less thing on the sides of the kitchen! All babies are different though and no doubt some will refuse them but that's just my recommendation.

We can compile a list of must haves etc on the fb group. (If anyone wants to join just messafe me and I'll ask you . It's a totally private group and no one will see you have even joined it)

Hope to see some more of you there!

Belvedere · 30/01/2016 19:28

Coldest I had a scan at 19 weeks but the baby wouldn't cooperate so I'm back in at 23 weeks. So I don't feel like my 20 week scan is complete yet as they haven't checked everything is ok. It feels like a long wait!

strawberrypenguin · 30/01/2016 20:04

Can you add me to the FB group please jelly I'll PM you my details.

We used Avent bottles last time which do need steralising but we have a microwave strealiser which is fab and so easy to use. Planning on getting some new bottles and a box of formula 'just in case' as DS1 wouldn't bf at all. I'll be trying again this time but if it doesn't work I want to be prepared!
