Hello ladies, may I join you all please? I am feeling a bit sheepish after accidentally posting in the July thread, like some kind of silly loon. Blush

I am due, with my first, on the 18th of June (although I am sure I'm due about 4 days later than that based on when I ovulated, but they haven't changed my due date based on my 12 week scan).

20 week scan is on Tuesday (eeek!). Baby started kicking like a champ last Saturday, so it is all feeling much, much more real now.

Hope to get to know you all in the coming months!

Torfhinn · 29/01/2016 12:46

I've got the cruz as well eastend. Lovely pram, definitely recommended by me, can't fault it!

Torfhinn · 29/01/2016 12:48

Welcome klaptrap Smile

Lovelybeano · 29/01/2016 12:52

Congratulations on all the scans !!! Mines not until Wednesday, feels like forever, but also feels like times going so fast !! We're having a new kitchen fitted, so we're upside down at the moment, I've got so much decorating to do in the 20 weeks left heehee
Still undecided on slings, may keep an eye on eBay and see if there's any going second hand.
Oh felt baby wriggle and kick this morning so baby must be growing strong, fingers crossed xxxxx

nehagarg · 29/01/2016 13:08

Welcome Klaptrap ... Good to have you here and best of luck for the scan Smile

Eastend .. I am hoping it is down to ethnicity. Didnt have a private scan. Let's see what NHS say. Only a week behind by the measurements and I did find some info online that tNHS have an error margin of 1.1 weeks when measuring the head between 14-20 weeks. In all probability its nothing and I really dont need to worry .. Wish I could take my own advice Smile

Has anyone had any experience with the Joolz Day? I am torn between that and icandy peach 3 but really like it that the Joolz comes with fewer chemicals in its fabrics.

Nehagarg keeping everything crossed for you!

"Beano" good luck with the decorating! We have lots of that too. I was hoping to get someone in to do it but all the quotes were too high. Are you taking additional precautions? We are using water based paint, I have a mask if needed and DH will have to do all the sanding!

strawberrypenguin · 29/01/2016 13:57

Hang in there nehagarg I know how horrible waiting for a follow up scan can be - we had some horrible scans with DS1 and DH and I keep waiting for it to happen this time too (I will get extra scans this time) although everything looks fine so far!
Hopefully the next scan will be able to put your mind at rest, from what you've said it sound like a precaution rather than anything else.

Lovelybeano · 29/01/2016 14:17

nehagarg I hope the days go quickly for you, I'm sure everything will be ok xxx
eastend I carry on as normal-ish whilst I'm pregnant, I don't do anything heavy anyway, that's the oh's job, but regarding painting etc I just carry on as I would normally Confused if I'm really honest I've never really thought about buying different paint.....until now Grin

nehagarg · 29/01/2016 14:32

Thanks everyone .. 10 days to go Smile

I think most paints these days are water based anyway aren't they? I'd like to start thinking about the baby's room but it'll still probably be an office until way after he is born.Angry

emma - thanks for the code! I think I'll be going on Sunday on my own (can't face bringing a 3yr old so he can stay with DP!). The Cameleon blend looks lovely.

Coldest - interesting feedback about the city mini. I was debating on getting one to replace my knackered maclaren as I love it's fold but I always thought the seat might be an issue. DS hated not being seated completely upright and I though the city mini's seat always looked a bit too reclined.

Big congratulations on all of the scans today!!

Also, welcome to the newcomers :)

emma85x · 29/01/2016 16:37

Congratulations talcott! I am right in saying that the girls now outweigh the boys?!

Welcome klaptrap and good luck for your scan.

Klaptrap · 29/01/2016 16:47

Thank you ladies!

How much stuff have you all bought at this point?

I planned not to buy anything until after the 20 week scan (don't want to jinx it!) but we have got our pram already as we couldn't resist (and the one we really wanted has just been discontinued).

AmIseeingRight · 29/01/2016 17:56

Klaptrap welcome and congrats to all those who have had great scans.

I was the same and waited until I knew the sex before I bought a thing, then I got clothes some 0-3 and 3-6 in the sales (saved 40%-70%) these have been mainly bodysuits, onesies and sleep suits (plus some great winter bargains for 6-9 winter stuff), swaddle and baby blanket, socks. I only bought 3 newborn/1 month items because I'm convinced he's gonna be a big/tall baby (my OH is 6ft4" and in 5ft6") and if he is small we can always buy more newborn items. Also friends have started giving us stuff, mainly because I'm the first of my friends to have a baby so I'm sure I will have so much stuff as family is also excited with first grandchild for my mum.

I also got a Kallax (IKEA) and some inserts, cloth organisers and a few items for his nursery. I'm hoping to start clearing the spare room next week and then once i've done the walls, start decorating over the next few weeks and be done with his room by 32 weeks as I have a low lying placenta which if it doesn't move by 32 weeks can cause complications in the 3rd trimester. So just incase I want to be ready early so I have about 9wks to get things done and time seems to be flying by Hmm.

sorry for the long post - I guess I'm finally getting excited Smile

Had a bad day yesterday, I was walking in the works car park and tripped up and fell landing hard on my stomach over the edge of the curb. DH came out of work to pick me up and we went straight to maternity assessment unit, to get baby checked out as I had awful stomach pain when it happened. The pain was gone by the time we arrived at hospital and the midwife checked babies heartbeat and movements and both were fine. She even said "he's having a party in there". Then I had to see the doctor and had a full blood test and antiD as I'm rhesus negative, and after about 4 hours we went home. Get the results of the blood test to check if there was any blood transferred in a couple of days, but the antiD should have covered it even if there was. Been anxious all day that I would start bleeding but thankfully I haven't. I checked his heartbeat this morning too on my doppler just to make sure and it was fine. I'm just sore and stiff today, I have done something to my shoulder and grazed hands and face, but the main thing is he seems to be fine. So thankful tonight. xx

GenevaJoey · 29/01/2016 19:12

Ooh, that sounds nasty, Violet. Hope you're ok. Lots of rest and TLC is needed I think.

I'm feeling happy as scan went and all seems OK. That and baby is moving loads mean I feel reassured for the moment. Reassured enough to buy a small knitted rabbit anyway. My first baby purchase!

We decided not to find out sex. There was a point when sonographer said "if you don't want to know close your eyes". Neither husband or I did, but still none the wiser.Grin

Good luck to all those who have their scans coming up. It was fascinating to see the baby moving around.

Coldest · 29/01/2016 19:16

Welcome klaptrap.
I am finding it hard to keep up with the thread.

I don't need to buy too much for this baby. Just got some sleepsuits from boots in the sale. Very different colours. Not the usual pinks and whites which I got really bored of with DD1.

strawberrypenguin · 29/01/2016 19:22

Ouch violet glad everything's ok.

I bought a Moses basket online last night. We got rid of our old one as it had had a lot of use (we got it second hand and lent it to several friends) so the bottom was quite saggy. Feels like we can start looking at the bits we need now (no clothes have loads of those!) and also to spread the cost a bit over the next few months rather than all in a rush last minute.

earlgreydrinker · 29/01/2016 20:06

What a fright violet glad everything was ok, sounds like it was a proper tumble!

Glad the scans went well talcott and geneva.

Picked up a few bits this weeks from boots - 70% off so couldn't resist. Really I neeed to get all the baby gros down from the loft to see what I actually need before I go too mad!

Eastend2015 · 29/01/2016 20:12

Hello newbies! Gosh Violet sounds awful! Glad to hear you are ok.

Just got in from out JL appointment- very impressed and feeling a lot more knowledgeable now. Uppababy cruz is confirmed as our top choice. We liked the feel of it, the easily adjustable handle and that it stands when folded. The bugaboo bee was good in that you don't need a separate carry cot but there is much less space in the basket. We won't buy it yet but we did buy a mclaren quest as they have them going v cheap st the moment at £129 and we know we'll need it when we go on holiday in October as well as to leave at nursery.

I also was quite surprised how much I liked a baby bjorn carrier, it seemed much more supportive for me and bubs than the slings.

I don't think we'll bother with the baby show now with such a clear idea of what we need. We both hate hoards of people at the best of times so just need to do a bit more research and then get JL to price match.

GrubbyWindows · 29/01/2016 20:17

Eastend yay JL! I do love JL (middle class? Me?) Their slings are rubbish though, so I'd really advise avoiding the bjorn and trying something at a sling library once the baby is there, or getting the bjorn super cheap second hand just to start you off. Hardly anyone can get on with them beyond a few months, so it's not worth spending much on one...

earlgreydrinker · 29/01/2016 20:31

Eastend I am afraid I have not heard great things about the baby bjorn. I have been advised by experienced baby wearers to try carriers out once baby arrives. "It's a sling thing" website has been highly recommended - they hire out slings, or you might have a local sling library.

laughingGnomette · 29/01/2016 20:58

Eastend - I'd second what grubby says. The newer models of baby bjorn look ok, just avoid the ones that just cross over your shoulders without any weight distribution to your hips as they are back breakers once your baby is of any size. These ones also tend to be 'crotch danglers' so don't provide place your baby in the optimum position for their hips.
There are loads of sling libraries in London where you can try out (and borrow I think) different types of sling/carrier - so not just the fabric wrap slings if those aren't your thing.

laughingGnomette · 29/01/2016 20:59

Violet - oh my goodness, you poor thing. I hope you're not in pain now. Very reassuring that baby looked alright though.
