I've been busy with work the last few days so not been keeping up with this thread. Congrats to all who've had their scans, mine is today and I'm equally nervous and excited. We are planning to stay team yellow so hope it's not obvious!!

earlgrey I think it's normal for men to want sons, whether for the name continuation or for some dream of taking them to football, rugby whatever. But if it's a girl, he'll love her just the same and dads and daughters have special bonds too! We are living in a more equal world than ever before so actually a daughter could continue the name and he may end up taking her to the football. Not all little girls want to be prima ballerinas!

Mrspopper · 28/01/2016 12:48

My OH didn't mind at all what we're having. He'll cope with three women in his life ;) it's me that's looking at little boys thinking wow I'll never know what it's like to have a boy! Delighted with two girls though.

Eastend2015 · 28/01/2016 12:51

Also worth reminding your menfolk that lots of ladies keep their original surnames now!

laughingGnomette · 28/01/2016 14:26

16 weeks until I go on maternity leave! (not counting down at all Wink )

Eastend2015 · 28/01/2016 14:39

Omg just been told by a London nursery that their waiting list is 18 months long, lol! How is this possible?!

laughingGnomette · 28/01/2016 15:07

Eastend - insane isn't it? Not all of them are that bad but popular ones are. My son's nursery waiting list was almost 2 years (they don't start until they are two but unless you put their name down at birth you won't have a hope of getting a place).

Eastend2015 · 28/01/2016 15:36

Lol- I could cope with putting names down at birth gnomette but I'd thought I'd only take 6 months off, so before you have conceived must be pretty extreme!

cautiousoptimist1 · 28/01/2016 15:41

I had my scan, all good. We had a really good sonographer this time talking us through everything. I think we woke baby up but managed to get a thumbs up. We stayed team yellow too. I also have an anterior placenta which explains no movement.

I'm still not in maternity clothes at all but my work trousers are now getting tighter so it won't be long. I bought some bits in the jan sales, still not completely sure what I'll need but I have a pair of jeans, a skirt and a couple of day dresses.

I guess I now need to start planning to buy for baby. I saw Icandy peach the other day with the carrycot making it suitable from birth so this has confused matters as I was between 2 so have now added a third into the mix. The baby's room is already mint green as we painted all of upstairs when we moved in last summer so I won't change that, I just need to decide what furniture It needs and to make it a bit less grown up!

nehagarg · 28/01/2016 15:49

Brilliant news on the scan cautious ... Glad all went well .. What are the other 2 prams you are considering (I am still confused and only have one likely contender down so far)

Eastend Laughing .. That's insane. Another list of things on my never ending ToDo then for as soon as the baby comes along ... Shock

Thanks nehagarg, I'm in love already!
The other two are Icandy strawberry and silver cross pioneer. In the end they're all pretty similar so it might go to the cheapest one! We are very fortunate that my Dad insists he's buying the pram but it's harder to spend other people's money!!

AmIseeingRight · 28/01/2016 16:57

congrats on all the great scans -
cant imagine going on a waiting list for nursery thats just seems crazy!! but glad to know thats a thing. Ive also looked at prams and just gave up and left it to OH to sort it out Hmm. Im keen to have a sling and looking at all the different types so many things to think about.

1Sunnydays · 28/01/2016 17:18

Great news Cautious Smile

laughingGnomette · 28/01/2016 17:58

Fab news cautious!! It's lovely when the sonographer talks you through everything.

iamdivergent · 28/01/2016 18:02

Just back from scan, all looked fantastic and midwife happy plus - it's a BOY! I think we're in shock tbh Grin

Eastend2015 · 28/01/2016 18:23

Great news cautious and divergent! Fingers crossed for mine on Monday.

Whoever said they were feeling sick again, me too!! Mostly when tired/ hungry and both right now. I am on the bus on my way home and I just want to lie down 😥

Coldest · 28/01/2016 18:38

Congratulations on the scan divergent and cautious.

For my daughter I started looking at nurseries after my childminders got I'll long term. There was only one nursery with spaces available. It is a bit of a drive but I love her carers so worked out in the end. Was very stressful trying to find somewhere though. I would definitely recommend looking around as early as possible.

MollieRos · 28/01/2016 18:40

Great news on scans Smile

Biffle and eastend my nausea seems to be on the way back too Sad. I'm 22+2 and have had about 3 or 4 weeks of only throwing up once a week or so rather than a couple of times a day, and I thought it had passed. But the last several days I've been feeling so sick a lot of the time, and keep having to go and dry heave. It's definitely worse when I'm tired, so I'm hoping it's just because I've had a hectic week at work.

strawberrypenguin · 28/01/2016 18:43

Great scan news cautios and divergent.

We're going pram shopping in a couple of weeks when DH and I have a day off together and DS will be in nursery - I think we'd have a very bored boy otherwise! The choice will be whichever fits on my rediculously small car boot!

I'm so tired today I could have taken a nap at my desk (I didn't but it was tempting!)

emma85x · 28/01/2016 19:01

Congratulations cautious and divergent!

divergent you say you're shocked it's a boy! Were you expecting a girl?!!

emma85x · 28/01/2016 19:03

Earlgrey any news?? Hope all went well Smile

I'm 20 weeks today, feels like such a milestone and means baby is.....

June 2016 #6, Blue? Pink? Yellow? Where did the first 20 weeks go?
jellybelly85 · 28/01/2016 19:17

Ha - brilliant emma85x HALFWAY KLAXON!!!

I ate a ridiculous amount yesterday. Had normal breakfast and tummy was rumbling by 9am so had to have breakfast number 2. Had lunch at 10am, and second lunch at midday. Then quite a big dinner. I'm guessing there's a growth spurt going on...?

Coldest · 28/01/2016 19:18

I have been eating loads too. Can't seem to stop stuffing my face l.

iamdivergent · 28/01/2016 19:19

emma yes! We have two girls already so we just assumed it would be another one lol.

earlgreydrinker · 28/01/2016 19:24

Lovely scan divergent and glad it was all good cautious!

All spot on here too, though the sonographer did say baby was on the big side Grin. We are having a boy too so DH is delighted athough I think he would have got over it if it had been a girl. He said it's the name continuation thing but the sonographer said it's quite common for men to have a preference for a boy. Good news for me is I get to shop for new things now! Although thankfully we do have quite a lot of neutral stuff from DD. Feeling a little sad some of her stuff won't we worn again though.

And emma 20 weeks is a fab milestone (love the pic) some of us will now have less than 20 weeks to go!

earlgreydrinker · 28/01/2016 19:26

And if you have a nursery in mind get on their list - I put the baby down before Christmas!
