I had spotting at 8 weeks and again at 10 weeks. Midwife said not to worry, it just happens sometimes. If you're really worried phone NHS (Direct?) and they'll be able to help.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 09/01/2016 10:31

Pipo so sorry things weren't clear at the scan, will keep everything crossed it's just a bit early.
pretty I had loads of spotting around 7 weeks, all colours up to and including bright red, and baby was fine.
Fly don't panic! You can have the NT screening up to 14+1 according to NHS website so you have plenty of time still. No probs.
lily hope you're doing better this morning. This baby is putting you through the mill! Glad you're entertaining yourself though - in the knitting club with me and mrsSanta Grin I'm doing a jumper at the min. It will either just fit DD, or we'll have a long wait for this kid to grow into it!
Jw I'm not surprised you're feeling a bit conflicted, it's amazing and exciting and a HUGE opportunity..but also a big change, at a time you already have lots of changes happening. Oop north definitely has its perks compared to dahn saaf though...we are relocating from Midlands to Hampshire/Surrey way this year and it's rankling a bit that we're having to pay twice as much just to live in a house like we have now! No upsizing for us Confused
Welcome nine, hope all goes well at your scan. Nine kids! What are their age ranges?

Not buying anything here for a long long LONG time. We pretty much have it all from DD so won't be doing much shopping anyway. Will have to scout round my friends to retrieve all my baby gear and have a little scrounge through theirs though! There are 5 of us in the friend group and between us we could stock a nursery for a year Grin
Also no name discussions yet, I've had a girl's name picked since DD was about 3 months old, but not sure about it now as it's getting a bit popular. DD has a normal but uncommon name and I'd like that for this baby. No idea about boys names. Plenty of time to decide though!

prettyflowers111 · 09/01/2016 10:34

I'm worried sick.... I sailed through with dd, no bleeding and lots of symptoms! I called the midwife and left a message. She left me a message yesterday about my booking appointment so I called back for that and also mentioned the spotting so hopefully I'll have a call back later. Fingers crossed its nothing to be worried about! I called the place I'm going for the scan and they are fully booked and can't move my appointment closer which I'm bummed about.

TattieHowkerz · 09/01/2016 11:03

pretty I had this with my DD, also lacked other symptoms, no morning sickness. All was fine.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 09/01/2016 11:06

pretty I'm not surprised you're worried but try not to think the worst just yet. My pregnancy with DD was absolutely textbook, it was honestly smooth and easy from start to finish. This time round has just been utterly fraught, the last couple of days is the first time I've not had spotting or bleeding since about 4/5 weeks! I was so convinced it would all go wrong because it's been much more like my MCs than pg with DD but somehow this baby is fine so far. Every pregnancy is different and the odds are in your favour. Could be that this one is a boy - anecdotal of course but my friends with boys all seemed to sail through pregnancy!

Pipo1704 · 09/01/2016 12:30

Thank tou everyone. I'm just feeling so depressed. Can't get out of bed today. I really do hope it was just too early. I've had all preg symptoms throughout (which now seem to have lessened but that might be in my head!) I've also had no spotting or bleeding throughout either. Which I (now) know can still happen.

I've booked in for the next scan on Saturday, I have my first midwife apt Friday - still worth while her coming?!

I just wish I could stop thinking about it. Everything was there as it should be on the screen just no hb :(

RoRosie · 09/01/2016 14:29

Pretty I had spotting on Thursday. Got an awful fright. Had just started relaxing going to the bathroom after being worried every time before there'd be blood there. That's why I think I was so thrown off guard. Had a scan and all was normal. Consultant said that nearly 50% of women in first pregnancies have spotting (sorry don't know stats for second pregnancies) and 95% of these don't miscarry. Even knowing this though I'm very nervous. Have had a little brown spotting today and yesterday. Lay awake last night worrying. It's just the thought there's nothing I can do.
pipo are you still having symptoms? That's usually a good sign. So frustrating and upsetting when you're in limbo like that.

Pipo1704 · 09/01/2016 14:51

Boobs a little sore & few cramps but no sickness today. It's hard to tell really. I wish I'd not been impatient & went early. If I knew either way at least I could move forward.

prettyflowers111 · 09/01/2016 16:56

rorosie that's how I felt, just stopped going to the bathroom just to check and starting to relax. Unfortunately midwife hasn't called me back which I'm a bit miffed about. It's changed from pink streaks to very light brown...not enough to warrent using a liner just when I wipe. I'm really hoping it was just a one off thing and that all will be well. Feeling very worried. Those statistics are very reassuring thank you! A week Monday for a scan so just need to try and stay calm for another 8 days and then will know either way.

This is just a totally different kettle of fish for me from my first pregnancy. I'm actually convinced that there's something wrong given the spotting and lack of symptoms compared to last time Hmm

RoRosie · 09/01/2016 18:57

I was exactly the same pretty. Some blood on wiping today but very diluted. Rang consultant and she said I'm at the stage (I'm 9 weeks) where I could be having implantation bleeds (think where the placenta is embedding in uterus) and unless it's heavy like a period or I'm having bad pain (having mild period type cramps. She said that's ok) it's probably fine. She's scanning me in the morning. I'm in Ireland and going privately so very good about scans but even when I went to public emergency room in maternity they booked me for a scan the next morning. Seems a bit easier than in UK from what I've seen on the thread.

prettyflowers111 · 09/01/2016 19:32

Oh RoRosie that sounds so much better than here... The early pregnancy unit is only open 8.30-10.30 Mon to Fri, and you need a gp or midwife referral.... which would be fine if the gp had any appointments before February or the midwife called me back. The early scan I've booked for the 18th is privet or I'd be waiting until mid Feb :( just feeling in limbo at the moment. All day in work tomorrow so hoping that will take my mind off things. Do let us know in the morning how your scan goes!

Flybynight1 · 10/01/2016 10:26

glencoco thank you! That is a relief. Though I am now glad we went for the 7 week scan-no way I could wait til 13+ weeks not knowing if there is someone in there or not!!

Also guess I won't be telling anyone until 13w4 days now, we wanted to wait for the '12 week scan' before doing so. Well I guess this whole thing is going to continue to test my patience Grin

pipo fingers crossed it was just too early! there have been plenty of posts with similar experiences where it's turned out fine!!stay positive x

pretty hopefully you're just experiencing 'it's just one of those things' and everything is fine!

RoRosie · 10/01/2016 10:42

Morning. Another scan this morning. All ok. Some more spotting yesterday so I've been told to have 48 hours bed/couch rest than scan Wednesday and if all well than back to work Thursday.

ToElleWithIt · 10/01/2016 13:05

Rorosie. Glad all is okay. Nice to have another Irish mum here! I'm going private too in HS, same as last time. Even in public they're good at giving scans quickly. My first pregnancy I walked into HS off the street worried about a bleed (hadn't picked a consultant) and was scanned there and then.

Jw35 · 10/01/2016 13:30

Glad alls well Ro

I was sick twice last night, fed up with it now! Getting fat, nothing fits Sad feeling crappy!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 10/01/2016 15:11

I just went for lunch with friends one of whom is about 6 months pregnant. It is so hard to not tell them when there's a half an hour conversation about babies!

Hope those who've had a rough couple of days are able to relax today.

MrsSantaClause · 10/01/2016 15:42

Great news Rosie!
Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend and not suffering too much, I've been craving beef this week so had steak for tea on Friday and having roast beef today... Just means I've got to cook a roast though. Confused

Christinedonna · 10/01/2016 16:11

Just doing my makeup for the first time in days! And planning in my head what I'm going to wear instead of my work shirt that I just know will be far too tight for me tonight

PickleBot · 10/01/2016 17:43

Evening all, just home from a lovely night away with DH. Parents looked after the boy and paid for the hotel! Love them! We had a lovely relaxed dinner at a tapas and mezze place with one lovely lovely glass of wine. It was so nice not to have to tell anyone to sit on their bottom or eat nicely!

I've got my blood test tomorrow morning, fingers crossed the results are okay and it's not gestational diabetes! Looking forward to my scan on Friday now, I'll be 11+1 so they should be able to see everything they need to I hope!

prettyflowers111 · 10/01/2016 17:53

rosie great news!! Full day in work today and really feeling it. Pain in the ligaments in my groin if that makes sense. Only one sided though and kept having to sit down. Same with my lower abdomen, fine when I sit down but on my feet for 7+ hours I really feel the stretching pain.

alfie I know I'm bursting to tell my pregnant friends and friends with babies! And Christine I too put on a full face of slap for work today.... A full face doesn't actually mean much to me though I'm not the most glamorous of people!

Spotting had stopped completely so feeling a lot better about that. Fingers crossed it was just that once and that all is still well. The midwife I left a message with Saturday morning (after she left me one Friday! ) still hasn't called me back! I'm not very impressed I won't lie...

RoRosie · 10/01/2016 21:10

Hi elle, looks like we'll be having a similar experience. Glad to hear you've had good experiences of our health service as well.

Thanks jw. Hope you feel better. Sounds miserable. Only had the odd bit of nausea and that was miserable enough.

Thanks Santa. Hope you enjoyed the beef.

Glad the bleeding has settled down pretty. Sounds like a tough day at work. I'm sure you're wrecked. Its so tough being in the first trimester because people don't realise you need to be cut some slack. Cant wait for it to be over. Already going a bit stir crazy with my enforced couch rest. No prospect of leaving the house until Wednesday morning. No spotting since this morning so I hope it's settled down.

lilygirl81 · 10/01/2016 21:35

Fingers crossed Rosie

I've decided to book another private scan as our dating scan isn't until 22 January, and with how sick I've been and all the tablets I'm taking, I just want to know everything is ok, or at the very least that it's still alive. It's only £39 and although I'm freaking out a bit about money (I'm almost the sole earner), I think it's going to be worth it. Today's panic is that my pulse is low and I've read it should be 15 beats a minute faster than your standard, which I've now convinced myself means there isn't enough blood flow

Does anyone else have absolutely awful farts? I could clear a room today.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 10/01/2016 22:12

lily I'm glad someone said it! Me and DH don't fart in front of each other so I was hiding upstairs for a while yesterday...he came up and wondered why it smelled so bad. I blamed it on DD!
pretty and Rosie all sounds good, hopefully the spotting goes away for you both! Rosie glad scan went well, sounds like you're getting brilliant care so that's awesome.
Finally got my first mw appt on Tuesday coming, feel like I've been waiting for ever! Not too bothered about appt itself but can't wait to get my scan date through Grin
Am 11+2 today and possibly, maybe feeling the tiniest bit better the last couple of days. Nausea still pretty much constant but maybe easing off a tiny bit - less crippling in the evenings. Am so ready to be out of the first trimester and feeling better! Also can't wait to get a bump instead of just my current little podgy bit. The rest of pg will fly by but this early bit feels so endless!
Am off to bed, my 3yo is being a monster at the moment and it's wearing me out. She is normally a joy and a delight so this has come as a bit of a shock. "It's just a phase" is my mantra at the minute!

quitecrunchy · 10/01/2016 22:12

Thinking of you Pipo and sending good vibes for next weekend's scan Flowers

RoRosie hope you've got a good book or something to binge watch on your couch rest! Good time of the year to hibernate perhaps?

Fingers crossed for a good week ahead for everyone. I've got my booking appointment a week today. DH is coming along as it's our first and although he'll probably be bored it might make it a bit more real for him!

Flybynight1 · 10/01/2016 22:24

lily with my dating scan being delayed so late (feb 5th) I am also thinking of going for a £39 scan at 12 weeks at least so we can start telling family! It's the cost of a meal out for the two of you, so just eat in more Smile

Things I am fed up with (Sunday night rant)-really really really sore and massive boobs, being bloated, feeling fat (I have also put on 6lbs in the past 10 weeks), being tired and lethargic, the weather and the lack of sun!!

Alfie that must have been so difficult!! Was it on the tip of your tongue or had you made a strict rule not to tell?

pretty glad you are sounding more positive! Take more sitting down breaks if you can, that's a long time to be on your feet. Does your mw work weekends? It could be she will get your message tomorrow and call you back (hopefully)

pickle sounds like a perfect date night! Good luck with your tests! I'm sure you'll be fine. A friend of mine (who is skinny and uber healthy) was told her sugar was high but the first instance was to cut out all sugar for a few weeks and they retested and all was fine. Turns out she was pretty much living on fruit, being healthy and all, but it was just a lot of sugar to process. So sugar doesn't automatically mean diabetes Smile I have exactly the same fear!!!

hope you enjoyed your roast Mrs

Ro glad to hear your bleeding has stopped! Long may it continue!!

waves to all and hope everyone has had a good weekend Grin
