Christine I had my booking appointment today and I confirm what the others said. DH was actually free today but I asked him not to come as I could foresee it being what it was - a long list of questions, she took bloods and checked my urine sample, sent me off to the nurse for a flu jab, called the hospital to get my 12-week scan date while I was there and gave me my next midwife appointment. DH would have twirled his thumbs for an hour. I'd got my notes in the post prior to today's appointment, so I'd had a chance to look through and ask DH any questions that I needed his help with.

However some people might enjoy having someone along with them, especially if you get funny about having bloods taken. It's your choice :-)

Christinedonna · 08/01/2016 16:10

No i think I'd rather go alone and get it out of the way. No point in us both going.. Do I need to take a urine sample?

strandedabroad · 08/01/2016 16:31

Christine They didn't ask for it, but I had read somewhere that they might need it so I took it, and she tested it. You could always phone the receptionist and ask :-)

bearhuggy · 08/01/2016 16:48

ditto on the booking appointment! I had mine today and it was very paperworky and question based. Good thing was my midwife was able to book my scan in there and then for a week today when I will be 13+2...very glad I went for a private scan as I really don't think I could have waited until 13 weeks!!

Christine i didn't take a sample, he just gave me a pot whilst there so make sure you go with a full bladder if you don't manage to arrange beforehand!

Pipo sorry to hear, as the others say, not seeing a heartbeat that early on is common so fingers crossed for your next scan

Jw what amazing news all round, nice way to end the week :)

M2B816 · 08/01/2016 20:41

The golden letter has finally arrived! It's called One Stop Booking and Scan Clinic. I'll have my booking appointment with midwife, scan, blood test all in the same visit on the 1st Feb at the hospital. I'll be 12 weeks by then. OH didn't want to go as it takes 2-3 hours but wanted to be there for the scan so will be tagging along. Three more weeks, bring it on! Hope those that haven't heard anything will have their call or letter on their way.

Christinedonna · 08/01/2016 20:50

Is anyone having their dating scan a bit early? Il be 11+something

lilygirl81 · 08/01/2016 21:11

I've got my letter through too, 22 Jan for me when I'll be 13+3. Christine I think they say any time between 11 and 13 weeks is fine for the dating scan x

Flybynight1 · 08/01/2016 21:14

For those who are getting their scan at 13+ weeks-have you asked for NT scans? I'm getting concerned as I've not had any communications and I'll be 10w on Monday and I told my mw I wanted to have the screening...

lily and alfie have you guys heard anything for your scans? Wondering if there are delays in our area.

Flybynight1 · 08/01/2016 21:14

Ah cross posted lily! Glad you got your date Smile

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 08/01/2016 21:16

christina I just got my scan dates in at I'll be 11 + 4, because the midwife thinks I'm further ahead so they make it 12 + 6. I think it's supposed to be between 11 and 13 anyway.

fly is your date in?

Flybynight1 · 08/01/2016 21:42

Alfie glad to hear it!!! Early is definitely not a bad thing! I'm so jealous! No I've not had anything Sad got the mw on Thursday so if I've not heard by then I'll push the subject-I've got such a busy few weeks in work, we need SOME notice at least... When did you get your letter?

OP posts:
Flybynight1 · 08/01/2016 21:45

Also I guess the mw thinks I'm about 5 days behind what I told her and what my early scan came in as so she's probably told them as such. Sigh, why won't they listen to the person rather than their wheel...

OP posts:
Christinedonna · 08/01/2016 21:47

They did book it even earlier!! But I'd have only been 10 weeks (my dates changed) so they booked it for later. The midwife booked it before even talking to me and I was sent a letter from the hospital with the date and time. I had to ring to change it after hearing I wasn't as far along as I thought. Has anyone brought any stuff yet?? I know it's really early but because we have our early scan picture and will have our next one in 3 weeks I got a baby photo album that is adorable. Also, me and OH were wondering. Other than early scans and private should you choose to do them. Do you only have scans at 12 and 20 weeks?

OwlinaTree · 08/01/2016 22:50

Yes, 12 and 20 weeks are the standard unless there's a reason for closer monitoring. Tbh as the baby gets bigger it's harder to see clearly in a way.

LeoLemur · 09/01/2016 00:08

Christine I'll be 11+4 like Alfie but they think I'll be 12 exactly. Fly I thought the NT scan is at the same time?

lilygirl81 · 09/01/2016 00:19

In the EPU overnight as still feeling really sick although not vomited since this morning. The doctor wanted to discharge me but the midwife backed me up saying what on earth is the point if I still feel sick, won't be able to eat and will just end up back in a couple of days!

I'm hoping they can still do the NT test at 13+3, although it will be 13+1 by my dates.

christine I've been really bad at buying things, got some cute baby grows and a gro egg room thermometer that was on sale. I've also today knitted my first bootee, figure I can tell people it's how I spent my time when stuck in hospital (and embarrass lily baby in future years Wink)

Christinedonna · 09/01/2016 00:43

Me and the OH are sat going through baby names. We have 5 boy names and 2 girls

lilygirl81 · 09/01/2016 06:42

We basically have one name for each, though the girl does have 2 middle names at the moment. Slightly scared as always hated double barrelled names (hope I haven't offended anyone) but we realised we actually like the sound of the first 2 names together for the girls option.

Dileas29 · 09/01/2016 07:31

I'll be 12+5 on scan date! 25th Jan! Early appointment though thank goodness I'll be desperate by then!!

When should we expect to feel flutters with second baby? I'm 10+3 and probably getting over excited ha!

Jw35 · 09/01/2016 08:08

Dileas first pregnancy is usually around 20 weeks but subsequent pregnancies can be earlier. I felt last baby move at 15 weeks. I think earliest likely is 12.
Christine I have a definite boys name as had it for last baby but she was a girl. That is Alex George (George after my dad). Don't want Alexander (although it's also nice). At moment I have Mia Grace for a girl. My one year old is called Eve Hazel so I think fits nicely?
My scan is on the 25th and I'll be 12+5. My booking appointment is the 14th.

I'm 10+3 today. Woke up feeling a bit confused about all that happened yesterday. Bit worried about moving up north as I love Berkshire and being close to London! Such a good opportunity though.. Mm!

My baby is singing next door! She's such a great sleeper, slept 7-7.30 and has been chatting away ever since! I've been lucky so far, hope this baby won't be a little devil at night! Haha! Have a great weekend everyone x

MrsSantaClause · 09/01/2016 08:08

I'm hoping my scan letter comes today Grin although with all that mess up with paperwork I'm not going to hold my breath!

I've got a name for a boy but not a girl, last time it was the other way round I immediately knew a girls name but we were quite late before deciding on a boys name and we had a boy... So I'm probably having a girl this time.

ninekidz54 · 09/01/2016 08:40

Best join this thread, I'm pregnant with my 9th baby due around the 22nd but have booked a private scan for Monday to get a more certain date, then I shall book in at the hospital if everything is ok with baby, I've previously lost 3 too missed mc's so am now starting to feel more nervous about the appointment on Monday, congratulations everyone

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 09/01/2016 08:59

fly my letter only came yesterday and I'm seeing the midwife again on Monday so in sure yours won't be long.

I haven't bought anything yet as I'm too scared! I'm going to wait until after my scan.

We do however have boys names, three! Along with middle names ha. And we know what order we would use them in. We've always had these picked out though, but we absolutely cannot agree on girls names so hopefully it's a boy!

Flybynight1 · 09/01/2016 09:26

Alfie I spoke too soon-the letter just arrived (had to wrestle it off the dog)-5th February! I'm glad I have a date but that's miles away and by my dates it'll be 13+4... I'll mention it to the mw on Thursday. But a positive is they will do it at my 'community hospital' rather than the ARI so at least I don't have to battle city traffic at 8:30am!

Not buying anything except stuff for me-so maternity clothes!! Will definitely leave it until much later for baby things. I'm a bit superstitious about things like that! We're throwing some names around but nothing serious yet Smile

Welcome nine! Congratulations Smile sorry to hear about your mcs, fingers crossed this is a sticky one!

Had a bit of a fright this morning with pink streaked discharge. Really really worried. The epu is only open Monday to Friday so there's nothing anyone can do for me. Feeling absolutely fine, no cramping but I've not had any other pregnancy syptoms either which had been worrying me as I was sick as a dog with dd. I do hope it's not a sign of things to come Sad.
Has anyone else had any spotting and all has been well?
I've got an early scan booked for a week Monday but I may see if I can move it to this Monday if the spotting continues. Only 7 weeks today so very early compared to some of you.
