Saw the mw yesterday for my booking appt, and today I get a load of paperwork through the post that I'm pretty sure should have gone to the hospital! Pfft

Jw35 · 06/01/2016 15:18

I can't keep up! GlenCo that's fantastic, my sister had 3 of her 4 babies at home and I was born at home (surrounded by candles, on floor cushions to pink floyd)! I won't be though, I had a planned section with last baby and plan the same this time. My first birth was horrendous and turned into a scary emcs.
Fly I'm in maternity wear. I've already got a bump Blush besides its far more flattering!
Dileas not fussed about the flu jab. Never seem to get flu so maybe that's made me blasé!

Jw35 · 06/01/2016 15:22

Sorry Rainbow SadThanks
Good news squiggle!
Such highs and lows! I really do feel so awful for those struggling or having bleeding etc.

My sickness gets worse later in day too GlenCo.

Jw35 · 06/01/2016 15:41

This might reassure those with hideous nausea

SharyBobbins · 06/01/2016 15:41

So sorry Rainbow. Fingers crossed it was just too early to scan Flowers

hgleslie89 · 06/01/2016 15:49

So sorry Waiting

After a long wait for my scan, everything was great. We saw the heartbeat and it was squirming around. Measurement put me at 10+4, so 2 days further along than I thought but that could change at the 12 week scan. So along with being told at my booking appointment that I'm an inch taller than I thought I was (5'9", hooray!), it's been a good couple of days.

TattieHowkerz · 06/01/2016 16:14

Sorry rainbow, that sounds worrying. Did they offer an internal scan? I was scanned at 7+2 today and they said they sometimes need to do that so early on. Thanks For you.

Mummystar123 · 06/01/2016 17:25

I'm so sorry rainbow :-(Flowers

lilygirl81 · 06/01/2016 18:16

rainbow fingers crossed it is just too early, they really struggled to find a yolk sac at my first scan, it only showed up as a line.

Thanks for the link about sickness, my baby should be super healthy.

I've got some maternity wear already, it is comfy, though due to my weight loss I've no bump at all yet, skinnier than I've been in over a year. I was a bit sad I fitted into my normal jeans today, how stupid!

strandedabroad · 06/01/2016 18:49

Hi everyone!

Have been lurking/reading with huge interest for weeks and only today I've found the courage to join in!

I'm 8+1 with baby #1. Can't shake the feeling that something will go wrong, although there's no reason why it should. Have been feeling pretty sick/had head down the toilet at times, then I bounce back and I'm alright until the next episode. I have the midwife on Friday and we've booked the Harmony test for when I'm 10 weeks. Reason for this is I'm nearly 35 and a massive worrier. DH doesn't think it's necessary but is happy for us to have the reassurance. I will report on that if people are interested.

Rainbow, sorry to hear - try and stay positive if you can and let us know when you're having your next scan.

I'm sooo grateful for groups like this, we haven't told a soul yet and some days I think I'm going mental!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 06/01/2016 19:16

rainbow sorry to hear that your scan didn't go as well as hoped. Wait and see what next week brings.

stranded welcome! Glad to see you've got the courage to say hello.

I've had a long day today, so tired and my cough is still hanging around which makes me feel so ill. So I'm back to lounging around tonight. I should really be writing reports!

OwlinaTree · 06/01/2016 19:34

Sorry it wasn't the reassurance you wanted today rainbow. Thinking of you. Are you still very early weeks? Could it just be a bit soon to see anything?

Glad other scans went well today. I'm 8 weeks exactly today, midwife next week when I'll be 9 weeks, so I'm guessing they'll book the scan in then. I've done this all before but can't remember the system!

So scan beginning of Feb I'm guessing? Seems ages away!!

RoRosie · 06/01/2016 19:38

Welcome stranded. I've been very quiet on the thread but keeping up to date. I second what you said about it being great to have the group. So many people are going through what I'm going through (worried about lack of symptoms, tired, anxious). Great to know I'm not alone. I've 3 very close friends who are pregnant. Hung out with one of them for 2 1/2 hours today and couldn't say a word.

When are people going to tell people? I've told my parents, told FIL today (who surprisingly shed a tear!) and had to tell a few people at work because I could be exposed to radiation so they'd to adjust the rota. We're planning on telling everyone after 12 week scan when we're happy everything is OK. Problem is that's not until I'm 13 1/2 weeks. It'll be 10th February. Worried I'll be showing too much by then. Plus the waiting is hard. Having a family get together 25th February so wondering if I can hold off until then.
Hoping for the best for you rainbow

TattieHowkerz · 06/01/2016 19:51

We told my parents and PILs today after successful 7+2 scan with a wee heartbeat seen. Everyone very happy, but not as excited as with DD1. Old news I suppose..

FourForYouGlenCoco · 06/01/2016 19:51

Oh rainbow sorry it wasn't what you hoped for. Is there any possible way your dates are a little bit off? Even a few days at this point can make a massive difference. What did they say? Thinking of you Flowers
Hi stranded and welcome! Love that people are still coming out of hiding to join in Grin
mummy and squiggle, so great to hear things went well for you both! Always love a good scan pic!
Rosie I would just tell when you feel comfortable. Unless they're shockingly tactless, no one will outright ask you, they might suspect but it's your news to tell whenever you want! So far only a handful of people know my news and tbh a lot of them I only told because I thought I was MC just before Xmas, so they only found out at nearly 9 weeks. Didn't tell DH til 7.5 weeks. Will tell extended family & real friends after 12 weeks scan. I'm not putting it on fb or anything, it's all staying very low key this time.

strandedabroad · 06/01/2016 19:52

Thanks Rosie. We'd like to tell the in-laws soon, just waiting for the right opportunity as it was too manic over Christmas and telling them would have meant another 15 people knowing! We can trust them to keep quiet for a little longer I think.

My parents live abroad and if this all goes to plan it will be their first grandchild. I'd really like to tell them in person so we're trying to organise a surprise trip where DH and I turn up unannounced and share the news. This will be a huge logistical challenge as I'll also need to get my sisters there. I plan to involve both my BILs in this crazy mission. If nothing else it will distract me from worrying for a few minutes here and there. I want to have something solid before I do that, so we'll wait for the Harmony results. I hope I don't start showing or my cover will be blown!

It's a very exciting time with all the early scans and MW appointments. It's becoming more real by the day Smile

strandedabroad · 06/01/2016 19:55

Thanks Coco, I feel like a spy or a PI these days, having to hide from everyone all the time, worrying that my sickness bands are poking out of my work shirt cuffs, dodging endless drinks and goats cheese canapés, and generally telling big fat porkies to all my friends and family! But needs must! Grin

RoRosie · 06/01/2016 20:55

Thanks for the answers tattie, stranded and coco. All my brothers and sisters live abroad and I'd love to tell them in person. First grandchild on my side so there'll be huge excitement. Was nearly outed this evening at work (working at ugly shift). Two of the people who know were around and one had a cold and said "everyone stay away from me especially you" to me. I shot him a look and he quickly added "because you're working tonight". Followed by the other one saying "sure you can't hide it anymore" and looking at my belly! Luckily it was very noisy at the time and a lot going on so don't think anyone noticed. I quickly ushered them out and told them it wasn't common knowledge. Plus I don't have a bump! Bit of a belly but I'd always have a small one. I've only put on 1kg so far as well so not the Christmas excess either. Think just a bit of bloat-especially in the evening.

RoRosie · 06/01/2016 20:56

I agree with the spy stuff stranded. Had 2 wedding over Christmas with loads of booze around and a cheese board at one. Plus plenty of parties and nights out. It's a hard time of year to be at our stage.

quitecrunchy · 06/01/2016 21:47

Hi Aussie and stranded, glad to have you on board.

Rainbow I can't even imagine your disappointment, so sorry. I'm sure the last thing you want is false hope, but good luck with the next scan. You never do know. In the meantime be good to yourself Thanks

squigglepants · 06/01/2016 23:08

Here you go ladies. My little tadpole over on the left

TattieHowkerz · 06/01/2016 23:36

Lovely squiggle - I measured 7and 2 today as well! Makes it seem all the more real when that picture flickers up on screen, doesn't it?

Btw your name and details are on the pic at the top - just in case you want to keep your anonymity!

prettyflowers111 · 07/01/2016 08:25

Oh wow I'm loving the scam pictures :)

rainbow I'm so so sorry.... but this early on you never know what they might see on Friday so try and keep a little hope. Flowers

dileas I'm fine after flu jab, my arm was very sore for the first day and I couldn't sleep on it but that's all :)

I had my first wave of nausea today. I'm quite happy about that as I've had no other symptoms! I've only told my mum, and asked her not to say a word to anyone yet until I inform work. I've got to sit on it for at least another 2 weeks, then I've a weeks annual leave so that should take me into February and about 10/11 weeks. Of those two weeks I hope to only work with the manager 3 or 4 times so providing I don't get hit with massive sickness I should be ok.

Pipo1704 · 07/01/2016 09:25

Lovely squiggle :)

How far along are you.

Excited & nervous for my early scan tomorrow !

FourForYouGlenCoco · 07/01/2016 09:46

Ahh squiggle that's fab! My scan at that stage literally just looked like a blob, yours is super clear!
