Polarbeartime · 20/12/2006 20:53

haven't been on for a few days as been househunting

Cyee - where do you live? You must have a massive Matalan? I might just pop in there soon I can't possibly do without a t-shirt bra - would have too many stares

Twoplusone - I'm a SAHM too. And also carry my weight everywhere. Its weird cos I'm a size 10 yet almost overweight, whereas someone I know has a massive lower end - must be at least size 20 (no insults intended to size 20s ), yet she is well within the healthy range for BMI! But her top is small!

Got my scan tomorrow - whoopee! must keep reminding myself, don't get too excited, don't get too excited!

littlepiggie - maybe she meant loved too much as in she's the favourite.

justbeme · 20/12/2006 23:38

Hi all, just back from work - so not tired enough for bed yet - although my tummy wants something nice and unhealthy to eat!
Had my booking in appointment today at the hospital - Got seen on time - and spent an hour with the Midwife . I was lucky to have an early scan at 10 weeks - but unfortunately, theyve now said i dont need another one until 20 or so weeks. (8/2/07) - . She said a scan is only a snapshot of that moment and the fact that i hadnt had any bleeding etc should be enough (basically) - You'd think given my history (4 m/c) they would be trying to put my mind at rest. I also asked when could i hear the heartbeat and she said not until 17 weeks or so because if she tried any sooner and couldnt find it I would only be panicking!!
Anyhow - came out with all my Bounty package etc , so now feeling very pregnant. Also tonight someone said they thought I was pregnant so my bump is well and truly visible!

twoplusone · 21/12/2006 05:55

glad the scan went weill justbeme...
Sorry to here the midwive wasnt exactley tactful though.
lynnec- lol at that.

polarbeartime- goodluck for scan..

I have forgotton all those who have had scans have you got nice clear piccies of your little babs.

DH cant wait for me to have my scan so I can email him the piccie. One of the lads out there with him has just received his wives 12wk scan piccie.. so dh feeling jealous.
He said the scan was amazing, it was in colour and they are already 95% certain it is a girl ... according to the sonographer.. I didnt think you could tell this early, but even in one f the mags it says by 12weeks an expert can tell the sex..!! (Prima baby&preg mag pg63).

I dont know whether or not she got a coloured one as there first has mild downs so they got a more indepth scan or they do these as standard over here. As we have to go to the German Krankenhaus to have our babiesand antenatal care.. It is annoying as we have English midwives on camp but they are not allowed into the delivery with us..

swift1 · 21/12/2006 09:32

Bubble, my friend is 1 40 gg and they oreder bras from her from M+S.

Thanks cakehead I will try topshop.

JUstbeme, glad your scan went ok. Your due date is the same a smine though, and I heard the heartbeat on Monday - But I know thats not always the case so maybe she didnt want to try and not hear it and then have you worry.

Chooster · 21/12/2006 12:10

Twoplusone - you are really having a time of it aren't you! I hope everything will seem brighter when your family arrives (is it tomorrow?). At least they can take some of the strain away from you and maybe give you some rest! It must be so difficult for you and you do seem to be coping really well!

Hello ladies - just to say CVS went as well as it could have and our first set of results are all good. Wonky chromosome and trisomy tests (can never remember what they're all called - downs, edwards and something else)are all ok, need to wait until after the holidays for the full report. And hope that the procedure doesn't cause a mc in the meantime. Phew so far! Hope to be a bit more supportive for other people now that I can stop being so bloomin me-focussed.

Had to fight our way through the airport yesterday (in tears! what a hormonal mess) and finally made it to Edinburgh 3 hours late. A 3 hour delay with a 13 month old that you can't pick up isn't my idea of fun! Was cursing until I saw the news that no flights had made it out of heathrow so now feeling really fortunate! Every cloud etc. etc.

Hope you get your army trauma sorted twoplus - my mate's bf is in Afghanistan at the mo and she despairs at them sometimes.

Ditto to the wiry tags on toys! - just when you're trying your best to get the new shiny exciting toys out of the box it takes an extra 10 mins with DC screaming the place down!

Justbeme - maybe you could try for an extra scan and say that you really need more reassurance? With 4mcs you have a v strong case. They've done it for me in the past and I've had 3. Good luck.

He he lynnec - like it! Or rather ho ho! (sorry! )

Happy house hunting polarbeartime! How's the housing market? We need to start looking soon now that we're a bit more +ve about this pg(altho we still don't know where!).

And yes! Have felt some little hands and feet kicks/punches on Monday pm when I went to bed. Was like little lentil was telling me s/he was ok! Was 12+3 then but I felt the last one at 14wks ish so seems like I have nerve endings and no muscle in my tummy!

Sorry for long post - quietly excited!!!!

pulapula · 21/12/2006 12:29

I am also feeling more reassured today, after seeing my baby very clearly on the ultrasound this morning.

Everything looks OK (they don't look at the nuchal fold though) and due date is now 2 July 2007 which matches exactly to what I was expecting.

So I have told my mum, brother, everyone at work, but still lots of friends to tell over the holiday period.

It will be hard to tell one friend, who suffered a late miscarriage at 4.5 months, and then on her second pregnancy, went into premature labour following an amnio, and lost her baby shortly after birth, as he was just too early. I feel very lucky to have my DD and another baby on the way. I also need to tell my sister who has been TTC for over 2 years...

twoplusone · 21/12/2006 12:38

3 flights- glad to hear things seem ok from you cvs. Keep positive hun.

off to go and sort out my phone bill.....
speak to you all soon#

Congrats to all of you who have had scans/successful tests! I still haven't got a date for my scan and will be 12 weeks on 3rd January - so what are my chances of having one before then? Grrr.

My tummy has exploded in the last couple of days. One day it was flat (well, as flat as a stomach gets after three children ), the next I had a very noticeable bump! I am still in my ordinary clothes but I suspect I am not going to make it to the end of the first trimester without breaking into my maternity wear!

I had a lovely "day off" from ms yesterday - then today I have been really ill. And ds has done a really stinky poo and dh is out - boo hoo ....

Myfairone · 21/12/2006 14:19

Afternoon ladies!

3flights..fantastic news on your results! You must be feeling so good right now. Im so pleased for you.

Twoplusone..I hope that your day is better. I know you feel down right now but dh will be home soon and so take a few deep breaths and think some happy thoughts.

Pulapula..so pleased that you got to see your baby!

I feel surprisingly good today! I feel that good im almost worried. Today is the first day in weeks where I don't feel sick! My boobs are still sore (so dont think anything is wrong!)

I hope that you all feel well today and are looking forward to a great Christmas!
Big hugs

Miaou - I just rang the hospital because I had heard nothing (plus, I am about as impatient as they come!)...I was told that my scan is booked for the 18th Jan (I will be 12+4) and the letter went out over a week ago! I can only assume that with Christmas post etc things are running pretty slowly (plus they always use 2nd class stamps!). Maybe just give them a ring.

Firststar -how you doing today?

I went out and bought maternity bras at lunch from M&S. My bras just feel so uncomfortable right now! I also feel so very bloated..my trousers are tight and I'm getting worried someone will notice at work! I'm 8+4 and thought I wasn't supposed to show until 12 plus!

catstar · 21/12/2006 15:12

It's great to hear that some of you have good news - and very reassuring! I've been laid up with tonsillitis feeling very sorry for myself and have just caught up with everything on the thread and realised that maybe I'm not so badly off after all. I really hope everyone starts to bloom soon - at the moment I am spotty and pasty and just waiting for that promised second trimester .

A few of you have mentioned "bounty" packs - I'm sure it's nothing to do with the taste of paradise, but what are they? I'm a first timer and am confused about so many things! I have my scan booked for 2 Jan and am really nervous as a good friend just had hers with bad news. I'm just getting into a bit of a paranoid state really, and am sure that hormones/tonsils don't help.

Anyway, hope everyone's done better than me and actually posted their Christmas cards ... better go and buy some presents too. Thank goodness for online shopping .

twoplusone · 21/12/2006 15:14

pulapula- glad the scan went well.

myfairone- bumps will come when they come...atleast when we have them everyone can see our little ones are on the way..

So looking forward to tommorrow..loads to do though tonight to get ready leaving at 8 in the morn to pick them up
Going to leave the ironing though hopfully dad will help me if I get it out whilst he is here .

twoplusone · 21/12/2006 15:16

catstar poor you having tonsilitus (sp) hope you feel alot better soon.

Your poor friend... just remember though that ( i am assuming here though) that missed miscarriages are quite rare. Keep you chin up..

You have your can on the same day I have mine.. I cant wait to see little one bouncing around..

Miaou · 21/12/2006 15:22

Well I took your advice myfairone and firststar and rang the hospital - I have an appointment on 10th Jan which means I will be exactly 13 weeks pg then! That seems ages away! However I'm sure I had a scan for ds at around the same time. At least I know I haven't slipped down the back of the proverbial radiator, so to speak

Miaou · 21/12/2006 15:26

Oh btw catstar, bounty packs - they used to be great, full of loads of freebies (washing powder, nappies, creams and lotions etc), but they've really gone downhill now and are not worth the hassle. My midwife gave me mine and apart from a shitload of essentially junk mail, I got some free persil and a tiny sachet of marmite . Don't bother with them, I say!

twoplusone · 21/12/2006 15:29

miaou- now you can look forward to your scan , instead of worring about when they are going to do it...
