Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JennStarOfWonder · 15/12/2006 20:24

Aaaa they've flipped everything. Very confusing.

I couldn't stand the fish meal I usually love on Tuesday and sent dh out to the chippy instead (just as he was serving his up) but monkfish wrapped in pancetta and roasted on some tomatoes yesterday was fine. I just wish I could eat healthily. Last pg I ate so much fruit and veg, but this time I'm lucky if I get 3 portions a day. Having said that I was pg at the start in spring so much easier to eat lots of nice strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, nectarines n stuff. Also no time to prepare nice fruit salads like I did last time with baby at my ankles.

keiralou · 15/12/2006 20:54

Know what you mean, Jenn. My last pg was from April so was eating mega healthily. Now, am gorging constantly on chocolate, biscuits, mince pies and whatever else appears in the staffroom. DD was 9lb 4oz (put that down to having loads of quality street right at the end over Christmas) this poor little might has got no hope the way I'm going. Still squeezing in to normal clothes, but not sure for how long!! Still have only told one person (at work and she is also due 3 weeks after me!) will prob tell families at Christmas although still won't have had scan

twoplusone · 15/12/2006 21:22

Evening all,
I have done everything I needed to tonight except the ironing. My back is killing me after lugging boxes up and down the cellar stairs to wrap ds xmas pressies. Will do dd one night next week. My back feels like it has a thousand hot pokers stabbing it.

I am hoping my visitors will walk the dog for me whilst they are here as the poor thing needs a really long and fast walk but when it is just me I have to take ds in the pushchair, can walk fairly fast but it hurts my arms to hold thelead and the pushchair at the same time. When we go on an evening and dd is with me she doesnt want to walk for more then 20 mns bless her...
Might tell dad to bring his trainers..... lol

My programme is on in a mo so will speak later.

Have a good weekend and take it easy...

Myfairone · 15/12/2006 21:50

I found it!!! Wooohooo! got all worried that you had started a new thread and not invite me! Me paranoid?! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

What a day I had today.. Felt so nauseous/tired/exhausted/weary/tearful (the list goes on!) so took the day off of work. Found myself wandering around the baby store (something I swore I wouldnt do until after my 12 week scan)...anyway, I cried at the prams (bloody hormones) and then cried at some really cute wallpaper!

Then got a letter about my 12 week scan (18th Jan wooohoooo - its past 12 weeks but hey ho) and that made me cry too!

Came home and spoke to DH about my trip to the baby store and he has shouted at me and said its too early! So now I'm upset again!

Not normally the crying type but very frustrated at him not joining in my enthusiasm for baby wallpaper and cots! MEN!

Twoplusone - I have a dog that desperately needs a walk too....as penance he is making me get up every 5 minutes to let him into the garden!

Sorry for the long post, but I do feel better now i got all that off my very sore chest

Sleep well everyone x

twoplusone · 16/12/2006 07:17

myfairone- so sorry you are having a bad day.. Cant beleive your DH shouted at you for looking .
When I sold the nursery things belonging to DS (moses basket etc) the couple who came to buy it still had 7 months till baby was due!!! (they bought the stuff in may babs wasnt due till Dec..) I was a bit shocked to say the least that they were buying everything so soon... They had even gone out and bought a pram and everything. Luckily everything was ok and she had a little girl...

Oh went of on a tangent then sorry..going to try and have some bacon today see how I feel. I was ok with mince last night.. so maybe its just chicken !!

twoplusone · 16/12/2006 07:18

ment to add hope you feel better today.

wethreebodkinsoforientare · 16/12/2006 10:42

Yay - just got my letter from midwives this morning. Made me feel a whole lot better as had just woken up from horrible dream about bleeding everywhere and losing baby - what a relief to wake up from that!

It also offers a 12 week scan - so am hoping that I will be able to have one after all.

That has really brightened my day! Now off to do battle with the xmas shopping crowds -- "ggrrrrr, let me through, I'm hormonal and I've got a whole heap of pressies still to get"

justbeme · 16/12/2006 11:16

Morning! Im having to type this quickly, as my DD is around (shes 11) and havent yet told her the news! Want to Wrap the scan up for xmas day and see her little face!
Got my booking in appt for wed - but they wont do another scan as ive had one at 10 weeks ( Boo hoo)
Cant get nuchal on nhs either - they would do if i was over 40 (im 38) , but i was thinking about it - dont they take the Dads age into account as well? our combined ages are 84 (what!!!!!),
Im now due on the 29th June, so am officially 12 weeks now - yipeeeeee
Had a party last night and felt like a sack of potatoes - .

Myfairone · 16/12/2006 11:26

Justbeme - what a great idea! I am sure your DD will love that! Glad to hear your feeling well at 12 weeks! Party huh? Get some rest today!

wethreebodkinsoforientare - sorry to hear about the dream. They seem part and parcel of pregnancy dont they!? I have been dreaming when I finally manage to get to sleep! grrr....

Twoplusone - thank you for that story! I spent half an hour on the phone to my parents today who see no problem in just 'looking' at baby things! Not sure what DH problem is but I cant say I really care too much today (that sound hormonal to anyone? )
So how was the bacon? (heaves as she even thinks of bacon)

Have a good one everyone

ChristmasCakehead · 16/12/2006 12:54

I was the same with fish in first pregnancy. Was determined to eat some, so bought a lovely fresh piece of seabass, cooked it in ginger, lime and chilli, really thought I'd enjoy it and then as I put it on my plate, I saw a blob of warm olive oil that just made me heave. I had to throw the whole lot away and have a cheese and pickle sandwich...
Thankfully haven't been so bad this time. I have seen that there's a type of Pregnacare supplement that comes with a fish oil component, so you could try that if you can't stand the thought...

abgirl · 16/12/2006 13:51

Hurrah! Have finished work for Christmas and now have 3 lovely long weeks off. From out of nowhere this morning I have lots of energy so have been buzzing round the house giving everything a really good clean in time for Christmas. Also started massive clear out of out office/junk room which will be the new baby's room. Not sure where the energy is coming from but hope it means I am over the worst of the first trimester and am starting to come out the other side... (I hope ).

Hope you're all having a good weekend...

ChristmasCakehead · 16/12/2006 14:21

Ooh Abgirl, come on over. My spare room's a pit and my sister-in-law is coming to stay in it tonight... Could do with a dose of your energy.

giulia68 · 16/12/2006 16:36

abgirl = thanks for the list and yes, i too wish i had your energy..
bodkin = what a horrible dream, part and parcel of the pregnancy experience. mine were very weird last time round.
myfairone, adding my wishes to you having an improved day today.
cakehead. hello... now stuck with the thought of that piece of seabass in my head. not in a good way..

ladies - great hearing about the scans and people getting to 12 weeks - very exciting and reassuring for the rest of us...

is anyone else getting quite a lot of tugging - not exactly pains - 'down there' and lower abdomen.
i am 8 weeks tomorrow and wondered if it was to do with when my period should have been due? be interested to know.

gingertoo · 16/12/2006 17:55

Took the boys to the forest to choose our Christmas tree today They really enjoyed it and I felt a little bit more xmassy watching them jump around excitedly!!!

Celebrated with a mince pie after the tree decorating and grand 'lighting up' up ceremony! BIG mistake - have been suffering with heartburn since!! oh joy!

Abgirl - Thanks for including me on your 'stats' list

Anyone finding work hard going?
I work with teens with behaviour probs in a secondary school - tiring at the best of times! I'm wondering how I will manage later in pg??!! One of the girls that I work with (14yrs) has just discovered she's pg. After all the talking to them about being 'responsible' I might blush a little when I tell them about my 'whoops'!!!

Myfairone · 16/12/2006 18:51

Christmascakehead - that is hilarious! Love how I am not the only one trying to eat healthily and failing miserably!

Abgirl - Hooray for feeling better!

giulia68 - I too am 8 weeks tomorrow and have some weird 'pulling' pains. Not a pain exactly but a kind of uncomfortable feeling. Hope your okay.

Gingertoo - sorry to hear your mince pie experience...and yes work is a struggle for me too! I start out okay and then wonder how I am going to make it past lunchtime!

Hope you all had a great day and mine improved drastically! Thanks to a long walk with my dog and some nice winter sunshine.

Sleep well.

JennStarOfWonder · 16/12/2006 19:33

Giulia, When I was about 8 weeks I had ++blood in urine (from a dip stick test you couldn't see it). Am presuming that it was negative for UTI as nobody has got back to me about it and not had any symptoms, but midwife said it can happen when you would have been due a period.

wethreebodkinsoforientare · 16/12/2006 23:21

I've been having the pulling pains too - sometimes quite uncomfortable for about 2 mins or so, then eases off. I think it;s the ligaments that support your uterus stretching as it gets heavier. And it is generally on one side or the other. Had it on and off for first trimester with last pregnancy, so don't think it is anything to worry about unless it is actually agony!

Gingertoo - we did our Christmas tree today too. It is so lovely when it goes up isn't it. Can't imagine the living room without it now! Ooof, mince pies though [fshudder]

Polarbeartime · 16/12/2006 23:41

Sorry if this is TMI but... the last few days its felt like my pubic bone was falling apart! Does anyone else have this? I know aroud 12 weeks they are supposed to come up out from under there or something aren't they but is it supposed to feel like this?! Might be to do with my bad posture ever since ds birth by ventouse and episiotomy and walking around with rear end sticking out for evermore cos it hurt too much otherwise!

Oh dearmyfairone hope your emotions stabilise soon! I think by 12 wks they are supposed to?

emmyb · 17/12/2006 09:22

Great to hear of peoples scans. I cant wait for mine (28th). Am now 10 + 5 and seem to be feeling better. Ive managed a full week at work so I must be a lttle better.
Question. may be tmi but does anybodies wee smell really weird???

AwayInAMeadow · 17/12/2006 09:27

Also having lots of wee pains low down. Am absolutely paranoid that Im losing the baby as I had a mis before at this time, but I think it may be because I have to go to the loo and am a bit constipated because of pregnacare (sorry - tmi) Sounds funny, and it is, but still worried.

I think strtching pains are very normal though.

giulia68 · 17/12/2006 11:37

hi awayinameadow, think constipation can definitely give tummy aches.. apparently straining is a very bad idea at this point. my accupuncturist suggested ground linseed sprinkled liberally over whatever you can eat - make sure you get lots of water too though. i heard from someone else on this thread that pregnacare bunged them up... wonder if there any pregnancy supplements that don't. try not to worry, easier said that done i do know..
thanks jen = useful information..
myfairone, hope you are doing ok too.
emmyb - ah yes, think this is another lovely side effect. my friend who is pregnant ( 11 weeks) has to rush out of the loo after every wee it is SOO bad.
bodkin - very reassuring - that's similar to what i am experiencing..

AwayInAMeadow · 17/12/2006 18:16

Im Ok now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lynneclynne · 17/12/2006 18:58

Hi ladies, how you all??

twoplusone · 17/12/2006 19:41
