Afternoon ladies

Twoplusone; Wow amazing pics.. glad all went well.

Think I've been feeling slight tappings recently but not sure if it was wind?? felt them much earlier with dd2 at about 9wks..still each ones differnet.

I've been booked in to have my next scan when I'm only 17wks which surprised me as last 2 times I was 20wks..still means I get to see bump3 in only 3 wks

Haven't had time to catch up on evryones postings but hope all is well

Myfairone · 16/01/2007 15:40

I am sooooooooooo happy right now and wanted to share it with you

Just got back from my nuchal scan and I saw my little one! It was bouncing around and waved a few times too! The pictures were amazing and after having all the measurements taken I was given very good results.

I started out with a risk factor of 1 in 132 and after the measurements and blood it came out at 1 in 2621. Very very happy indeed. I have some beautiful pictures of my little one and will try and put them on here when i get home.

Thanks for all the good wishes and kind thoughts.

Have a great day everyone!

MissusC · 16/01/2007 15:46

Brilliant news myfairone - so glad that the results are good and that the baby waved!! So exciting.

marchbunny · 16/01/2007 15:52

Hi Everyone,

Have had a mad few days, been trying to keep up but don't think I can manage individual replies, pregnancy brain is bad. My dh keeps telling me off for not finishing sentences, it's not my fault I can never remember what I was saying.

Good news on all the lovely scans, it is so reassuring to see your little one, even though I was so sick and this is my third I couldn't help wondering if I had made it all up, until you actually see proof!

On the m/s front have not thrown up for about a week now, am really hoping that it is getting better. Still feel nauseous, but certainly not as bad - fingers crossed.

Take care all. x

myfairone-great news on the scan

Saf1- the scan piccie is typhoonsmum lo... they are great though arent they.

Marchbunny- glad the ms seems to have gone..

managed to have a nap this afternoon..just hope ds will still go to bed for me tonight

emmyb · 16/01/2007 20:24

Typhoonsmum how fantastic those piccies are.

Ive got my appontment through for my 20 week scan. The consultant wants to do it because of the nuchal scan results he wants to look for certain things with the heart. Apparently the thickness measurement of the nuchal transluscency I had could be an indicator of heart defects. Then apparently I have another one two weeks after that.

Its weird but I dont feel really worried about these, I may feel differently near the time. I think because we had positve results for the four chromosome defects I just feel that all will be well.

Has anyone else heard of this of had it done or have any info on the subject?

I also have had salad a few times this week and it feels great almost as good as the sex!! (not quite)

twoplusone · 16/01/2007 20:44

I wish I could have sex...emmyb you are making me jealous... maybe I should eat more salads!!!

When DH was on the phone earlier
(got an early phone call this week as I was having an hormonal morning and emailed him accusing him of having an affair!!! as his password for his email wasnt working!! luckily he is very understanding first thing he said onthe ohne was...."so who is feeling hormonal and lonley this morning then babe?" )

Anyway when he was on the phone he told e that hje had been talking to the lads in the dinner queue and they were discussing wan*ing and how none of them are going to for the last week before they get home!!? squaddies.....
so that means us wives will get a 2min ownder no doubt...

twoplusone · 16/01/2007 20:46

emmyb- sorry didnt mean to ignorthe rest of your post.
TBH I prefer it when I was scanned by the consultant, they are prob just doing it to be on the safe side.

Glad you are not worring about it.Keep positive hun.
xx

keiralou · 16/01/2007 20:59

Hi everyone - well it's taken me ages to catch up with all your news- it sounds like lots of people have had their scans, although I have to say how bad some of the treatment sounds! I have got my dating scan on Thursday - I had a nuchal done a coupe of weeks ago and can't wait until i see my little bundle wriggling around again!

Mt dd was 2 last thurs so we had a little party for her. Well, I say little but there were 8 children and parents so it turned out to be quite big in the end! She had a nice time I think - a bit over whelmed though!

Still in normal clothes although I think this is a short term measure as although they are normal they are my larger than usual normal clothes. Don't really want to get into maternity clothes just yet - am a teacher and don't want the parents finding out about my pg just yet. We told the staff last week - I am one of four pg (due from end may to end aug!) My head headteacher has advised all remaining staff to drink bottled water only and he has pledged to burn the staffroom chairs - this is the 17th pg in the 3 and a half years that he has been there that he has had to deal with! Can't deny I'm looking forward to the maternity leave, but a while to go before that I guess!

Hope all goes well for you and am glad that ms has disappeared. Are you all feeling more energetic and 'with it'? I'm having good days and days when I think "no I'm not quite there yet!" Am looking forward to the energised new me ha ha!

keiralou · 16/01/2007 21:01

Forgot to say - Typhoonsmum the piccies are fab. Would now really love to have 3d scan myself Well done!

typhoonsmum · 16/01/2007 21:21

I think you can get 3d scan packages at about 28 weeks but they cost about £60 for the cheapest. A girl in work had one done (b4 we got the 3d scanner to play with)and the pictures were fantastic. She got a DVD of the baby moving as well.

Glad everyones scans are going well. Just waiting for the 20 week one now. Is anyone finding out the sex of the baby.

keiralou · 16/01/2007 21:55

No just want to have a surprise. Also our hospital have a no-telling policy. With dd we were convinced she was a boy (using the pointless 'theory' of heartbeat - have since discovered this is not a great theory) She turned out to be a girl obvoiusly and we loved the surprise as had been so convinced she was a he... I like surprises and it feels like there isn't much we don't get to know about these days!!

abgirl · 16/01/2007 22:18

Hi All and am glad all the scans have been so good - I love those photos typhoonsmum.

I'm not having the best time. As I posted on Sunday have been v tired, to the point of exhaustion, and morning sickness has returned with a vengance. Went to see GP this morning who promptly signed me off until next Monday and said I may need longer off if I don't feel better by then. Am pleased to have the time off as sleeping on the sofa all day has definitely helped but now stressing a bit that this pregnancy will go the same way as DS's, which would not be good news.

However not all bad news though as blood pressure and urine all totally normal and heard baby's heartbeat for the first time - v exciting!!

Jennster · 17/01/2007 04:38

Keiralou I agree about nothing being a surprise anymore. Was convinced DD was a boy too, only because when you've been told 100 times it's a boy, you start to believe it. Was also told by somebody who recently had had a baby, that she was the ONLY one on the whole ward didn't know before baby was born and quite like being different.

MissusC · 17/01/2007 10:27

Definitely don't want to find out the sex - I think it's crucial to have something to look forward to during labour!! Also, if you know then you have to be so much more organised - 'blue this' and 'pink that'... if you don't know then 'white everything' does the trick.

Hi everyone - Good to hear most if us are getting more upbeat, but sorry to hear you are not feeling well abgirl. Do you think it could be something not PG related, like a bug or something? Or is it really similar to your last PG? I hope the rest does you good and you feel much better soon.

Emmyb - I've been in your position where the chromosome tests were fine, but nuchal raised a potential issue. I did a lot of digging around at the time and I was told that once you are clear of the chromosome tests there is less than a 10% chance that there is a heart defect and even then there is no indication of severity - so it may not be a serious issue even if that is the cause. In my research I also found out that fluid on the back of the neck does not always indicate a problem at all, and sometimes it just occurs for no apparent reason. I was even told of cases where the fluid is there til the end of the pregnancy but disppears after birth.

I know none of this gives you any answers but I just want you to know that you aren't alone in this and to share what I found. Good luck with your 20wk scan.

On sex - i.e baby's sex I am going to find out if I can just purely because I want to prepare my DS for a brother or sister. I'm a wee bit anxious about his reaction anyway so the more I can do up front to help him get used to the idea the better... But when I had him I waited for it to be a surprise - and it was lovely!

abgirl- hope you feel better soon.

We are going to find out what sex the baby is..

I didnt with DD and I was the only one in my bay that didnt know.. the doctors knew from all my scans (excess of 25) and amnio.. it was lovely going to theatre when the doctors took her out I asked whether I had a son or daughter and he just held her up and opened her legs for me to see.

I found out with DS as DD was very apprehensive about me being pg and knew if it was a girl things would be harder for her, at the time, I had only just got married and we were living with DH for the firdst time properly so she had been used to just me for 6.5years so she had alot to adjust to in a short sapce of time..

This time I just want to know so we can get sorted,(and I am impatient) we already have all newborn clothes from DS which were majority white and lemons.. but as I have said before if it is a girl I can sell all ds things and my aunt will send me over all her little girls clothes..

On the name front, dd and I had picked a girls name but she has gone of it and I am not 100% about it now... boys name is 95% that it will stay as that now..

I am looking forward to next mw appointment in 1.5weeks so I can listen to babies heart beat..
Kyte glad you had a good appointment with your mw and that she is concerned about treatment you got when you had your scan hopefully something will be done about it.

I want a proper big bump now so people can see I am not getting fatter through esating but through the miracle that is happening inside of me.. I am still really apprehensive about things and keep thiinkng something is wrong, cant wait till I can feel movement everyday to but our minds at rest..

Hope everyone else is ok..
xx
