Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dewmeadow · 12/01/2007 19:16

twoplus - glad you had a happy ending - but what a horrible day!! Im the most emotional person in the world atm - do you feel like you're in that category?

scan today - yeah! So everyone is healthy adn theres only 1 - thank god! It was so good to see the wee baby moving about. My due dates are the same.

talk later

mioau - looks great - also followed link to Balamory - ever been there?

Miaou · 12/01/2007 19:27

Yes dewmeadow, we went just before Christmas and it was lovely! Better in summer when all the shops are open but it gets incredibly busy then. We are a short ferry trip then a half hour car journey from Tobermory (which is Balamory!)

twoplusone · 12/01/2007 20:10

dewmedow-Glad the scan went well I am an emotional wreck most days!!!! can put on a good front though for people.

The mw is miffed as the CPN was supposed to contact me but they havent, we agreed I would have them to talk to whilst dh was away to help keep my depression at bay!!!... They will prob get in touch when dh gets back!!.

OH when he phoned today he told me he has been told he is only entitled to 8 days off on his return!!!! so he is going to put in holiday... so he gets proper time with me and dc..

twoplusone · 12/01/2007 20:10

should be dc and i!!!

Rosylily · 12/01/2007 22:18

Just popped over to spy on dewmeadow's scan news Pleased all was well (am slightly disappointed its not twins though!)

giulia68 · 13/01/2007 11:17

Myfairone, Firststar, LynneC, Twoplusone, Chooster and Dewmeadow, and all the ladies on this thread thanks so much to you all for your thoughts and messages yesterday it meant a lot to me. After 2 private scans it is clear that my NHS trust had made a bad mistake when the scanned me. The baby is fine and I am low risk. They rang up yesterday with my blood results which confounded the scan and apologised to me. I do feel really upset - I had a hideous night contemplating something I should never have had to think about. The head midwife who rang me said I should make a formal complaint which I will do.

Turns out that my risk is extremely low, and course am thrilled about that. My hospital said it was 1 in 55 whereas the private consultant who scanned me said it was 1 in 2416. He also brought my due date forward to 27 July which makes me 12+1, hooray!

But imagine someone else who wasn't as fortunate and me and didn't have the wherewithal to go and seek a second opinion, who might have gone on to have amnio or CVS.

I am very grateful to you all for your support, Mumsnet is a great thing. Probably won't be around much over next couple of weeks as we are off on hols but take care everyone and be in touch when we get back. Sorry not to have been on more and to reply to you all individually but it has been a bit of a weird time and I now have to pack for DS for 2 weeks in the sun. He will be the only boy on the beach in a duffel coat. Take care, Giulia.

Miaou · 13/01/2007 11:29

giulia, what a relief, but I am so sorry that you have been put through the mill like that! . I'm glad your m/w is being supportive over making a complaint - I would hate other people to go through the same thing.

Have a lovely holiday and relax in the knowledge that things are looking really good for the little one now

typhoonsmum · 13/01/2007 14:16

So glad everything is ok Guila. Sometimes people can be so uncaring and look after themselves. You are lucky to have a midwife who cares.

Just been looking on the Wal- Mart website (they took over Asda didn't they) They have Travel Systems for $169. Isn't that about £85. Why are things so much cheaper over there. The Old Navy Maternity clothes and now prams. Bet Wal Mart doesn't deliver to UK either.

Gosh that took me for ever to catch up!

Kyte, glad to see you're back, but sorry to hear about your scan. My sonographer was pretty vigorous trying to get the baby to move, for about 10 minutes she was jiggling the scanner around and it was pretty uncomfortable. In the end I suggested I go and have a wee and a walk around as I thought she was going to be at it all day! It worked though and the baby obligingly moved.

Giulia saw your other post - glad to hear all is ok.

Hello to everyone else

breadandroses · 14/01/2007 07:54

Giulia- glad you have been reassured.

Miaou- bloody hell it looks gorgeous girl- are you all from that part of the world or did you move especially to live in the middle of all that loveliness?

Morning to everyone- the dds are watching Tom & Jerry while I mn with a pot of tea. This isn't as slack as it sounds as we are off to a museum on the other side of London later this morning (for a bit of kultcha!) followed by delish curry- am more excited about this part tbh.

After thinking I won't need maternity wear for ages went to H&M yesterday and got 2 pairs of maternity jeans (£14.99 AND get one free!) and boy are they comfy. Seems like since I found out it's twins I've been acting like it's twins, growing a stupid amount, eating a stupid amount.

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

typhoonsmum · 14/01/2007 09:23

12 WEEKS! I finally made it.

Why don't I feel more secure in this tho. Just found out a friend of my sister lost her baby on Friday (she would have been 12 weeks yesterday) Bit sobering

Last night when Dp came in from the pub he promised DSD and DD to take them swimming this morning.Naturally he can't remember it this morning. I told the girls to bully him into it. If he can afford to spend all afternoon in the pub then he can afford to take them swimming for an hour or so.

abgirl · 14/01/2007 10:21

Feeling v tired today, DH out with rugby pals yesterday evening and I couldn't sleep. Then DS woke up at 5.40, got him back to sleep but then couldn't sleep myself due to the fumes eminating from DH!

Luckily my Mum is coming over this afternoon to take DS out for a few hours so hoping to catch up then...

Breadandroses that tea sounds good! Going to make myself some now, decaf natch!

emmyb · 14/01/2007 13:06

Hi all,

I was exhausted yesterday after shopping. Ive got some maternity clothes now so feel very comfy today. Im not fiddling with by trousers trying to make them comfortable!! Also bought some work clothes so I can wear something a bit smarter not just a comfy lounging aroung skirt!

Managed a whole week at work for the first time last week but sickness still keeps creaping up to catch me unawares. I thought It was all over, I am 15 weeks after all.

lynnec · 14/01/2007 15:04

Hi ladies.
Kyte that was an awful experience you've gone through with your scan, i hope you are ok now.

myfairone goodluck for tuesday, mines is thursday and i am shi*ing myself big time, starting to toss and turn at nights worrieing about it.I hope you enjoyed your thai green curry, i was thinking of that the other day, but had to settle for chicken curry instead

miaou sounds lovely where you live,i have been up that way before, i live in Scotland, but it is in the city.

giulia hope all is well with yourself, this was awful what you had to go through!

twoplusone hope your are nice and warm now with your new boiler.

Well, hope everyone else is well, goodluck with all the scans that are due this week,im still so nakered,on friday morning after ds had gone to school i jumped back into bed until 3.30i couldnt believe i had slept all night and all day!!!

Take care everyone, have a nice week! x

Chooster · 15/01/2007 08:53

Hi everyone

Kyte - very good to have you back on here! But really sorry to hear about your experience. That sounds awful and just wrong... Hopefully as has been said a complaint will make her less vigourous with other people. Aside from that its good you got some lovely piccies of your little one. My DH is certainly talking a lot more about our little bean after the scans.

Twoplusone - glad your heating is sorted out. You do so well managing all this on your own.

Guilia - You've probably already jetted off on your holiday, but am so thrilled your results were good in the end - such you a shame you had needless worry, because like you say it causes you to think about things you shouldn't have had to.

I had my booking in appt with midwife yesterday and there was a student in there as well so it took 2 hours!! I mean I'm pleased I wasn't in and out in no time, but still.... I had DS with me as well (DH working) so the room at the end looked like a bomb had hit it - toys everywhere! When I had my bloods taken he came right up to get a good look and I was just praying he wouldn't try to yank the needle out.

Anyway back to work now in my new mat clothes - oh... am so comfy!!! The only problem is I haven't work and I dont intend to for another couple of weeks so hopefully no-one will notice

Chooster · 15/01/2007 08:54

Groveregg · 15/01/2007 10:01

Wow everyone's been busy again (just typed "busty" by mistake, must be a freudian slip)! I am trying to catch up quickly while ds is napping and before the builder arrives and takes over this room again but I don't think I have a chance of getting up to date with everyone's stories without a couple of hours to spare.

Well finally hit 12 weeks last week and had an eventful time telling people (mother in law said "I suppose that's another reason why you can't visit me", typical) and then had my booking-in visit on Thursday. It was really nice that it was the same midwife that I saw all the way through my first pg and she remembered lots of the details and was really pleased to see me. If I go for a homebirth there's a chance it would be her doing it so that would be great.

Well after weeks of hearing about everyone else's scans it's finally my turn on Thursday, I am a mixture of excitement about it and of trepidation. If truth be told, more than anything I'm looking forward to my friends looking after ds while we're out so I can relax a bit and concentrate on something without someone small hanging on to my leg and screeching!

justbeme · 15/01/2007 10:21

Hi Groveregg - why are some MIL's so thoughtless?! I think I told you - mine was more interested in the weather forecast and just said "I didnt think you could have children?"
Everyones starting to notice my bump now - its quite funny at work people keep looking down at my tummy and then back at my face and then down at my tummy again!! If I know them , I tell them now - but if I dont particulary know them I just let them wonder!
I am getting quite big as well, although some days I feel that for a few hours it seems to shrink!

MissusC · 15/01/2007 10:59

Morning all - seems to have been a busy few days for all of you and I'm so sorry that some of you have had such a lot to worry about... it's just not what you need at this time is it?

I had scan on Fri, all ok, although baby not exactly in a great position for his photoshoot - thank god my scanner was a bit more gentle and just accepted that that was it. Anyway, turns out I'm actually 14 weeks today, not 13 weeks and 3 days as I'd thought. Still have the same due date, 20 July, though.

Told lots of people over the weekend (quite a few people reackoned 'I knew you were' - grrr) including people at a wedding we were at, and had my first 'space invaders' moment when a complete stranger, thoroughly over-the-moon-for me zoomed her hand in to my tummy for a feel !!! Very odd, especially as I really do have a few christmas pudding rolls on it, so I'm sure all she felt was blubber! Anyway, I suppose that's something we have to get used to. I think it will take a while.

Hope all well this grey Monday morning?

MissusC

pulapula · 15/01/2007 12:06

Hello all,

I thought my anxieties would subside after hearing baby's heartbeat last Monday and feeling regular flutterings/movements last week. But I am panicking again as I haven't felt any movements all weekend, which also coincides to me taking 'strepsils extra' and on checking the box this morning, I realised that they advise checking with doctor/pharmacist before taking if you are pregnant, so I made a worried call to the midwife, who thought the most likely thing was that baby has moved so that kicks are inwards and can't be felt. However, she did say I could go to clinic and she'd listen for the heartbeat again, but as she's fully booked up I won't know til later if she can squeeze me in! I am normally a very rational and logical person, but times like these show how important this pregnancy is to me, and how pregnancy brain takes over!

Afternoon ladies!

Firstly (and I know she's on holiday now) I am appalled at the poor treatment Giulia received. How scary that she had to live with that worry for 24 hours...its just so bad. THe poor thing. I hope she is enjoying a nice relaxing break now!

Firststar - Please dont feel frumpy! You are a beautiful pregnant woman! Go and treat yourself to a pamper of some kind. Big hugs.

Well my weekend was pretty good. I took off my sickness bands (although they have become somewhat of a safety blanket) and I wasnt sick!!!!

I am now officially 12 weeks and 1 day!!! wooooooohooooooooooo! Really excited/nervous about my scan tomorrow.

This time tomorrow I will know...really have no reason to think anything is wrong but after what happend to my poor friend I am so anxious. Just hope that I can get some welcome relief and see my little one for the first time.

Anyone else really craving spicy food? After my thai green curry on Friday I was craving something spicy. Managed to find some spicy sauce for my chicken on saturday night and sunday just had to go and buy the ingredients to make yet another curry! My poor parents thought they were coming round for a roast dinner and ended up eating a very spicy curry and rice!

Groveregg & LynneC good luck with your scans and MissusC, congrats on yours!

By the end of this week I think we have all been scanned haven't we? woooohooooo!

Big hugs to everyone and hope your MS is giving you all a great day.
