nothings ever simple is it

hope every one is feeling ok

AwayInAMeadow · 04/01/2007 10:55

Happy New Year everyone!! Our phone line was down from the windy storms on New Years Eve and was only fixed today!! Rural discrimination again!! AND mobiles dont work here so totally cut off. Anyway, normal service has now resumed.

HAve had a massive catchup but my tiny preghead cant hold information for more than 5 seconds so.....Anyone else have that sympyom?

My scan is in 8 days and I cant wait. Im also wetting myself that it might be twins. Imagine a 3yr, 1.5yr and 2 babies AAAHHH!! But it still is less likely than a singleton baby.

My MS has nearly gone now and I can feel my energy slowing coming back a little. Still being a lazy b**tard and doing no exercise. Want to get my ass in gear these next 3 months before I get too big to be mobile!!

I took my ML at about 3-4 weeks before both my babies. Im a teacher (pt primary) and I hope to work up to the end of June (our term finishes then) and then I'll have 3 weeks before the baby comes. Touch wood, fingers crossed, etc

My mum STILL has mentioned my pregnancy....ah well

Lots of positive baby vibes to you all

Myfairone · 04/01/2007 14:02

Awayinameadow - Im glad that your feeling better and you are allowed to be lazy! Go for it! Sorry your Mum still hasn't mentioned it

Bubble78 - So glad you rang! At least they can get the ball rolling now.

Firststar - Veggies URGHGHGHGHGHGH

Twoplusone - Sorry you are craving adult company. I am still shocked at how well you are coping with your family and being pregnant and not having DH around. Don't worry hun, he will be home soon!

Decaf - Hooray! I thought I was the only one who couldnt sleep! I get no more than an hour at a time and then find it impossible to get back off. The tiredness is getting to me!

3flightsofstairs - So happy for you.

Beartime - Hope DS feels better soon and isn't too cranky.

Littlepiggie - 8 months and doesn't believe in sleep - say it isnt so?!
Hope your coldsore is better and please let us know about your scan. HOpe it went well.

snowytyphoonsmum - now you have me sitting here wondering if I could eat an Indian takeaway and making myself feel very nauseous in the process!

Chooster - I am so happy for you. Thats just wonderful news! Well done girl!

Well today I feel tons better than I did yesterday so the MS/24 hour nausea seems to be slowing down - Finally!

I feel so bloated though...is this normal (this my first so I am clueless!)...My tummy is really poking out (even more so as the day goes on) and I feel really bloated all the time.

Also, can anyone offer me any advice about the NucalFold Scan? I am 37 and go on the 18th. Will I be given my results straight away? Will they take blood? When can I expect the results of that? Im getting myself all bunched up about it and I have two weeks to go!

Well done to everyone who has had scans and good luck to those that are going.

Big hugs all.

twoplusone · 04/01/2007 14:11

myfairone- not sure on how quick you get the results as i have never had a nuchal fold..

Midwife rang today to make my 16week appointment, and asked if i am going to have the triple test. I have emailed DH to ask him but tbh I dont think I am going to have it.. I really dont think I could do anything anyway of the results came back as positive.. mentally I dont think I could cope.. ( not against just not for me..iykwim)

Feel like things are really moving along now what with the next two appointments booked..

abgirl · 04/01/2007 14:18

Myfairone

Re nuchal fold scan, they will take some measurements of your baby's neck during the scan. You wait in the room for a few minutes (I guess while the results are put into a computer) and you then get a printout straight away giving you your chances - the sonographer will then explain what this means and if any further tests are recommended/necessary.

You don't have blood taken as part of the nuchal fold test, but you will when you are booked in with your midwife (if you haven't been already). You won't get the results until you next see the midwife (after your 20 week scan round here), though I think they would contact you sooner if anything were wrong.

Really try not to worry too much about scans/tests - in most cases there isn't anything wrong, and worrying/stressing isn't good for your baby (though I am probably the world's biggest hypocrite on this one!!!).

Am totally with you on the bloating/tummy increasing feelings - normal clothes starting to be too small and maternity clothes too large still - v annoying!!

Myfairone · 04/01/2007 14:47

Twoplusone - What is the triple test (apologies if I should know what it is!)..but whatever it is I totally understand you not wanting to deal with tests and results without your DH. YOu amaze me at how capable you are! Well done.

Abgirl - Thank you so much! I just didnt know what was involved and had visions of being told I had to wait weeks for a result. Someone told me that at 37 I would automatically be told that its 1/240 (not sure if that is correct)...what is a reasonable figure to expect? Sorry for all the questions.

And yes, my tummy is soooo bloated and feels huge. Everything is tight and the Maternity stuff I bought (all in the Next sale - wooohoo!) is huge!

Thanks for all the advice

Firststar - Thank you for making me feel normal! I have to wear a suit to work and I keep pulling my jacket around me because I'm bursting out of skirt...Sweating hot too!

Thanks for explaining the Triple test..I will look it up on the net and see what I can find.

Take care everyone.

twoplusone · 04/01/2007 15:22

myfairone- you wouldnt be calling me capable if youcoud see my house........lol. Clean but dfo not tidy...

When we moved in I was really pleased as we have a basement with 3 rooms, one for washing one hubby having as war room and the other was for the dog...

The on for washing is and also has the 79boxes I unpacked when we moved..stored in there.. must get them out for recycle bins..
hubbies war room, is but also has 2 big boxes which I cant be bothered to sort out, will do when hubby gets home, then all the baby stuff (from DS) and other bits and bobs. The poor dog has had her food and blanket and water put into the hall at bottom of cellar stairs so i could fill her room with junk till dh gets back....lol..

As the washing is downsatirs though I keep forgetting that I have put stuff in so end up havng to wash it twice....,,, Talking of which need to empty tumble and put next load in....

LOL...

When I told DH I had put the dishwasher up and plumbed he asked if that ment divorce as I obviously dont need him anymore my reply.."when you get back I will have forgottom how to do anything like that so your job in the house is very safe..."

abgirl · 04/01/2007 15:50

Myfairone, can only really tell you about the chances based on my own experience. I am 31 and my background risk (based on my age) came out at 1:462, however once they'd factored in the results of the ultrasound this was adjusted to 1:972. I think what you've been told is the background risk, but as my own experience highlights this can easily be adjusted upwards as well as downwards.

Twoplusone you sound as if you've as much sorting out to do before your next baby comes along as I have. DS got so many toys for Christmas that I have spent today having a real sort out of his room and chucking out loads of junk that was stored in there. Also put by some stuff to sell on ebay and found other spaces for some of the other bits. Now need to gather the energy to clear out our office of books, jigsaws, piano stools and other various items so we can think about converting it to a nursery. Think I need some choccie biccies to sustain myself before thinking about attempting it...

Myfairone · 04/01/2007 16:07

Twoplusone - you are still my hero! lol....I was forgetting you have a dog too! I am sure he can muck in with the rest of you!
So I take it you will act all 'pathetic' when your man comes home, just to make him feel important? lol...

Abgirl, thank you for explaining that. Its starting to make sense now. I need to calm down and just wait until the scan and then I will know. No point speculating at this stage.

Well still trying to work out which room I am going to put the baby in! Having just moved in a few months ago, we have clothes on rails in one room and junk in the other - which is also used by my dog, who seems to have claimed it for himself (we sleep in the 3rd!)

DH seems to think we have plenty of time to work it out and is as laid back as usual...but it will most probably be me doing the decorating/rearranging because he worse than useless when it comes to that kind of stuff!

Im tired.....can someone wake me up at 5 so I can leave work on time?

dewmeadow · 04/01/2007 18:55

Oh yes, and today my pelvis started to ache, which I had with my last pregnancy in teh second trimester as well. Anyone else have that?

giulia68 · 04/01/2007 19:40

Hello everyone, it has been ages since I posted - we've been moving house... knackering is not the word. spiced up with MS it has been absolutely the most tiring thing i think i've done yet - with DS and DH back at work..

Anyway, tried to keep up with everyone's news but am failing. I wish you all a happy new year, but I am so sorry to hear your news cazzybabs.. i am thinking of you.

dewmeadow i've had lots of aches low down - can't tell where it is but i guess pelvis is fairly likely. think it is very common.

just posted elsewhere as we are unexpectedly taking hols next sat - but suddenly wondered whether safe to fly at 12 weeks - it is a 12 hour flight... any thoughts here would be most welcome ladies.

Bodkin · 04/01/2007 21:30

Hi all - Awayinameadow (dewmeadow?) you sound like me, panicking about twins! No history of it in the family at all, but I have been such a smug bastard saying to all my friends who have had their kids close together "oh no, I couldn't be doing the whole double buggy, double nappy thing".... that would serve me right wouldn't it!!!! Will find out tomorrow....

3 flights, just seen that you got good scan results too, you must be over the moon.

DDs pox coming on nicely. Gosh, better ring round and let the party guests know the situation. god and i've got to bake a cake. How did it get to be 9.30pm

Chooster · 04/01/2007 21:33

Thanks for your congratulations ladies! We are still on top of the world at the moment.

Regarding bloated tums - mine has been awful - I've been looking about 5 months gone by 7pm. Its getting better now though and seems to be co-inciding with my MS getting better. Not sure if its connected...

Hi Myfairone - Try not to worry about the nuchal... As has been said already you get a factor based on age then its rated up or donw depending on various factors - the main one being the scan. There is always some fluid on the back of the neck and anything up to 3mm is considered normal. Anything above may indicate a problem - but this is definately only a 'may'... Good luck!

Guilia - With DS I travelled on a 11 hr flight at 14 weeks and it was all fine. You need to make sure you get insurance to cover you though as not all companies insure pregnant women. Plus I was advised to take any pregnancy notes.

Good luck to those with scans tomorrow and good luck with the CVS results Emmy.

Happy 3rd Birthday to Bodkin junior!!!

Kyte - Are you out there?

OP posts:
twoplusone · 04/01/2007 22:19

guilia- I flew to the Dominican when 15weeks pg with DS.. as smeone said make sure your imsurance covers the pregnancy and also take you notes with you, just to be on the safe side.. Have a nice holiday...were are you going?

Myfairone- too right I will be pathetic when DH comes home, I am going to relax relax relax... even thinking of going back to Cyprus with one of the girls I lived there with (very good friend) who is also in Germany but 3 hrs away..we arent going to tell the girls there we are going one of my friends hubbies is really good at secrets so we will set itup with him..

I will have a proper bump when he gets back... just vice versa of last pg with ds, ew had the first few minths together then when i was 24weeks he got posted to Cyprus and they wouldnt let me go until ds was born,( due to bad pg with dd) he went in the march and had ds in Junethen we moved in the AUgust....

Getting abit worried about my dog just as we started t eat tonight to threw up in the front room..(sorry tmi) so have had to wash carpets tonight luckily bought a VAX last week.... seeing how she is tommorrow may have to take her to the vets.. That will be fun will have to fibnd someone to come with me as I cant get her in the car she can only get her front legs in and you have to lift her back end... she is a big dog weighs about 40kg.....

twoplusone · 04/01/2007 22:20

sorry that post ewas all me me me .. I am selfish sometimes

Beartime · 04/01/2007 22:40

You're all scaring me saying your maternity clothes are too big cos I'm in them now and they look fine! Mind you, the bottoms are low rise waist ones - which fit the whole 9mths -so that might have something to do with it. from old Navy They do these nice new ones now with a roll over top so you can wear it low rise for the first half, and then when the old belly starts showing you can bring it up higher to cover it!

Ds is doing OK - just very clingy - tried to make dinner tonight and everytime I put him down on the kitchen floor he started crying, and I didn't have the heart to let him cry cos he's ill! So I was holding him on my hip, and doing everything else with the other hand! I'm feeling better energy-wise - just have a really sore throat and still a bad cough - can't believe it lasts so long - its been 10 days now I think.

MyFairone- you're echoing my thoughts - as i was just thinking of asking where is everyone going to put their new baby? Thankfully we are moving to a new house with a spare single so he's going to go in there, ifnot it would havebeen in with ds which would havebeen interesting to say the least!!

Guila - have you already moved? Wow that's quite a job for the 1st trimester. And then a holiday From what I've heard its safe to fly anytime up till your last trimester sometime, it just might not be very comfy I think, and you might want to wear flight socks so you don't get a blood clot.

twoplusone - wow that must have been hard last pg not being with DH for so long - and him being in Cyprus and then having to move so soon after the new baby was born - aargh! And don't worry about your post being all you - if no-one wrote about themselves we wouldn't have anything to talk about

twoplusone · 05/01/2007 06:48

Beartime- I am finding it harder this time.. last time DD and I lived with my mam so was in familiar surroundings.. unlike this time..
I am getting abit braver now re the driving feel alot more realxed about it now. after finding thehospital with no bother at all.

the baby will have to go in with DS.. I am just hoping he has calmed down a bit by then. I will keep the baby in my room till sleeping through ( DD and DS slept through from 8-10weeks) then trf. If he hasnt calmed down we may have to see whether or not we would be entitled to a 4 bed.. (only a couple here though so may mean moving 20 mins away... which I want to avoid!! for the sake of DD as she is settloing in nicely)
I should be getting a visit for the Health Visitor this month re DS as they think he could have somesort of Behavioural prob.. personally I think that he is just a stubborn, full of it two year old....(nothing like me )

Morning Ladies! I have a quick question, just for peace of mind .... Is it normal to still be having cramps and aches and things? I feel quite crampy today, with some lower backache too. Also (and forgive me if TMI) I have been having colourless discharge over the last few days. Not too worried as it's not red/brown, but still, is it normal?

catstar- I have discharge most of the time it is fairly normal in pg to have slightly incresed discharge, I am sure as long as it is colourless (or milky) and doesnt smell that it is normal. Are they stretching pains do you think.. would you have been due on now the cramps could be down to that. But if you are worried please phone your midwife and discuss with her, she should be able to put your mind at rest. xx.

My maternity Jeans fit me.... but they have an adjustable strap on the inside on both sides have that small for now...(never thought I would call my ize 18 frame small lol) But they are the high fronted type so I look huge in them....
have got some maternity jogging bottoms I am going to pull out as if I rememebr rightly they wouldnt go near me toward the end of mg last time so they should be ok for now.

DD and I were discussing names last night.. we both like............................
Kyra Leigh for a girl...
not sure what dh will think of this.. and
Lee Anthony for a boy...

DD name is Nicole Louise
DS name is SCott William Phillip
