Agree - definitely going through the podgy stage - probably a combo of too much turkey (and chocolate) and eating to fend off the MS. However now I'm thankfully through the worst of the MS I can start going to the gym again ... or at least cut out the chocolate ...

I had my scan this week (I'm due right at the end of June) and it was amazing. This is my 3rd and DH stayed home with dcs - so it was a really lovely experience. The sonographer could even count the fingers and toes, it was so clear. She couldn't see the sex tho.

I hope that you have all had great Christmases and wishing you and your bumps all the best for 2007.

bumperlicious · 30/12/2006 21:11

Hi all
Merry Christmas and a sober new Year! Tallulahbelle I have the same bump issue as you. Tummy is much smaller in the morning than in the evening...it can't all be baby. Mine is mostly mince pies and after eight mints! It's all going to stop in the new year though. I'm starting swimming lessons (just to improve) and I will be back to yoga and healthy eating. My tummy may get flatter after the baby is born but the same can't be said for my thunder thighs! Also, this may sound totally crazy, but I am seriously thinking about having ice skating lessons after the baby is born. I'm terribly faddy when it comes to hobbies. In the past I've done amateur dramatics, belly dancing, ballet (at 21!), jogging, kung fu, yoga, pilates, set up a book group, I just love to try things but haven't yet found anything I'll stick to. What do you guys all do when you aren't being wives, mothers, slaves to miserable bosses?!

Seansgirl · 02/01/2007 09:52

Happy New Year to all!!

Hope you and your bumps had a great christmas and new year!

14+4 today and feeling and whole lot better than before xmas nausea seems to have thankfully subsided. Have my NHS 12 week (at 14+6 )scan this thursday so really looking forward to seeing the little one again.

I am feeling very podgy as have been stuffing anything can get my hands on, probably have eaten more than usual as obviously have drunk virtually no alcohol - had one xmas day and one new years eve . (Normally would drink, drink and drink and be madly detoxing by now!)

Have reached for the maternity jeans for around the house as soooo comfy and am battling on with a bump band on my regular jeans. This is definately the worst bit as you feel like everyone looking at you thinking is she fat or pregnant?

I cant believe the difference in sizing for maternity either I have a size 18 jeans from next that I had from DD that are HUGE (which is bizarre as I am a good 18 if not a 20 usually)even on smallest adjustment and a new size 18 from funmum which are great but cant see them lasting til the end!

Dont know when anyone else is starting their new exercise regime but am thinking next monday for me as too much to do around house as getting it ready for viewings as hoping to move before June!! Whilst we have been on market the house has been filmed for 'To buy or not to buy' on BBC1 which I think is going to be on next month! Scary!

Looking forward to hearing everyone elses news etc... take care all xx

snacky · 02/01/2007 18:14

Hi Everyone, its my first pregnancy, and I freaking out! Ive lost weight, vomitting & loss of appetite. I dont even have a bump yet,(apart from my lardy belly!)is anyone else in the same situation? As its my first pregnancy Im feeling a bit lost & overwhelmed!

Seansgirl · 02/01/2007 18:43

Aunty Mandy, Six! Wow, hats off to you!

This is no 2 for me. So far things seem to be pretty much the same as prg with DD. Only thing different it seems to be going soooo slow... think busied myself last time with reading anything and everything and planning all my must buys. Obviously not alot of need for either this time. Can I be nosy and ask have all your pregnancies and births been different?

Seansgirl · 02/01/2007 18:46

Snacky, Cant help on the weight loss for or vomiting front as complete opposite for me.

This is my second but found that I didnt have much of a bump with my first until 18-20 weeks. Hope that helps.

NattyandThomasandBumpandSanta · 03/01/2007 01:24

hi guys.
i have had the worst new year ever.
thomas has been really sick, unable to hold anything down for like 3 days. he finally had a bottle this evening, and has kept it down so far thankfully. needless to say i have not slept for 3 nights, and completly missed new year with all the room pacing and crying.

feeling really emotional today, my friend told me she was coming round tomorrow to help me catch up on housework due to tom being so ill, she said i was pregnant and doing to much already so she was coming over wether i liked it or not. mad me cry .
it was my 21st last wed, spent it in pizza hut discussing babies/pregnancy with a couple of girly mates. it was actually one of my best birthdays since i was a nipper!

glad everyone has had a good xmas, i am 18 weeks now.. and have my booking in appoint on the 6th, and a 20 week scan on the 12th. u guys will be the first to know if i am having a boy or a gurl (next to dp!)

wedding day is drawing closer and am starting to get nervous. still waiting for my gown, have be assured its on its way, delayed due to the holidays.

well thats about it for me, baby is moving alot, really dosnt like any pressure on my tummy else it tells me off!

night all

Happy Nooo year all, hope bumps are coming along. Does anyone know how much weight they've put on so far? I didn't weigh myself at the beginning, and am too scared to do so now. I think 26 lb is supposed to be the optimum weight gain during pregnancy, but I feel like I've put that on already! Damn damn those mince pies - and I've still go x8 left to eat.
BTW - Topshop has some fab maternity gear, not in the maternity section mind - loads of natty smock tops and shift dresses which are perfect for not-too-vast bumps (ie totally useless in a couple of months time)

MagicGenie · 03/01/2007 18:08

Happy New Year everyone.

15+3 today; don't want to bring a happy thread down but feeling a bit out-of-sorts.

Met with a close friends this afternoon who had a m/c over Xmas (what timing, eh?) She was OK but looked pale and tired, understandably. Made me feel very lucky having DS and a seemingly healthy pgcy this time (so far, anyway).

It set my mind working - midwife asked to see me at 16 weeks but she was fully booked when I made the appointment, so the receptionist told me to see my doc instead. Due to see her on Monday. My doc is fantastic but I wonder whether I'll be a bit more reassured by seeing midwife; having been through it all before with DS, I s'pose I know what to expect at a midwife appt....just hope the doc is able to have a feel of my tummy/listen to the baby's heartbeat and check that everything's alright.

I have NO reason whatsoever to doubt that they aren't; just freaked out by my poor friend's bad luck. Anyway, I've left a message with the midwife to check I'm doing the right thing seeing the doc.

Sorry for moaning - I probably sound like a right selfish cow, turning what happened to my friend into something about me.

Hope you're all well.

sleepychunky · 04/01/2007 09:41

Hello, can I join you? Only just discovered this part of the site although I have posted on talk a little bit.

I'm 17+4 due on June 10th and feeling absolutely fine. I had no m/s at all and that concerned me a lot, as this is my first baby and I was convinced things were wrong. First scan was brilliant though, and in my 16-week appointment with the midwife just before Christmas I heard the heartbeat for the first time, which was amazing.
My next big thing is the second scan on 2nd Feb, but I'm already really impatient about that. It seems a really long time to wait so I hope the next 3 weeks fly by!
Desperate to feel the baby moving as well but it's still quite early for that I think.

Anyway, hello again and I'm sure I'll be posting more from now on now that I've found you

twinkle5GoldRings · 04/01/2007 10:45

sleepychunky welcome! I am due 2 days before you also with my first! Unlike you I had terrible MS- still throw up some evenings but generally much better than I was.
I also heard the heartbeat just before christmas which was fantastic, and I have my 21 wk scan write at the end of january. Also like you I am trying desperately to feel it move! Sometimes I think I can but then immediately doubt myself.

Daisybump · 04/01/2007 11:05

Phew..that took ages to catch up as I've not been on at all over Christmas. Welcome to the newbies and I hope all is going well.
Sleepychunky...I'm due on 10 June as well, but this is my 2nd and have been feeling movements on and off since week 14. Heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time on Tuesday though which was great. Took DS with me and he was fascinated by it all.
Definately lookin pg now...no pretending that this is just lard, but like some of you it does seem bigger in the evening....my boobs do too and by teatime I've just got to get the bra off as it's so uncomfortable. Think it's water retention.
The weight has finally started piling on and I've put on about six pounds over Christmas, but I think a lot of that is due to the amount of dessert and chocolate and the odd Bailey's I've been consuming!! Still can't face food really and only managed a small slice of lamb, two roast pots and one roast parsnip for Christmas dinner before wanting to chuck it all up again (but then I did manage two helpings of pavlova!) I can't face eating meat at all, unless it's chopped up really small like spag bol or something. I think it must be my inner vegetarian coming out.

Anyway...having a few duvet days at the moment as I've had a UTI and am still feeling crap and tired and grumpy. Was supposed to be back at work yesterday, but have taken the rest of the week off. Don't think they'll be very happy about it and I'll just have an even bigger backlog to get through on Monday, but I don't care anymore. Can't wait until the end of April when I'll be giving it up (hopefully for good as I want to go back part-time but it's not really a part time sort of job so will need to find something else).

DH has got a new job....in Lincolshire and we live in Leeds so he's going to commute weekly until we decide whether we will move or not. Means he'll be away three or four nights a week. Can't wait as he's driving me nuts....no sympathy for my overwrought state and over-emotional response to everyday things. He likes to think he's a new man but this whole hormonal weepy woman has him beat. It could be difficult thogh with DS to cope with as well and I'm worred about when I go into labour if he's three hours away, but we can think about that as the time draws near. After his initial start period he may be able to work from home two or three days. No doubt it will sort itself out.

That's my gripe over for the day...off to get some tea and chocolate now!!

strawberri · 04/01/2007 14:22

Wow this site is FAB!! just found it and so so lovely to read as have no pregnant friends (yet!) and was feeling bit lonely with all my various ailments..... Am due on 28th june, first baby and VERY nervous. I too have just stopped feeling constantly sick, only sick now when hungry and tired- lots of left over cake and chocolate still from christmas so not much chance of that!- I look like a fat girl as my bump seems to be all over not just where baby is, is def worse in evening. I LOVE the idea of motivational fitness moral support thingy....... may i join? I used to be very active but like lots of you could'nt really get off the sofa til recently, start antenatal yoga next week and hope to go back to my bikram class too although not sure about heat....By the way, got some great maternity jeans from h&m in the sale for £15, really comfy. Very glad to have found you all once again!

sleepychunky · 04/01/2007 15:33

Daisybump, cool to know someone else with the same EDD! My stomach feels huge in the evenings as well - so glad I'm not the only one.

Strawberri - glad you're also expecting no.1 - most others seem to be on no.2 or 3! I'm really nervous too, but really excited as well. I've wanted to be a mum for ages (even though I'm only 29!) and now it's coming up, I'm scared about it

Can't afford to buy any mat clothes until after payday at the end of the month, but will definitely go looking then. Considering renting a doppler as well, as DH missed out on hearing the heartbeat as he wasn't at the midwife with me, and waiting until February for the next appointment seems so far away...
Any tips on best places to go?
SC

Seansgirl · 04/01/2007 20:18

14+6 today and feeling good this evening - had scan today and felt huge sigh of relief that "bean" is doing fine. Slightly disappointed that they didnt measure heart rate or measure body length as they did on my private scans - I asked and she just said "oh no as long as we can see the heart beating.." This has confirmed my due date of 29th June.

TMI WARNING !So from this worked out date of conception which means "bean" not conceived in marrital home but more outdoors somehow unlike Brooklyn for the Beckhams dont think will be naming the baby Cobley after Cobley Hill Alley Tee Hee!Sorry for TMI!!!

Hi to Sleepy Chunky and Strawberri welcome to the club! It is great to be on here with everyone else in at the same stage it is a great comfort! Although this is no2 for me I am just as nervous now as I was with DD!
Thanks on the mat clothes - am going to check out H&M tomorrow - fingers crossed as I also have the added nightmare of being 6ft2"

doggus · 04/01/2007 22:58

Hi sleepychunky and strawberry (you have the same due date as me). I am on number one too, despite being 38 (39 in 3 weeks). Seansgirl - well done on hitting the jackpot outdoors!

I have just bought a pair of maternity jeans from Next in the sale, they are still too big but my normal ones are popping. Still only put on a pound or so, but I have a gut like a darts player.

I went to a NYE party, where lots of friends had just found out. One noted that whenever I talked about impending motherhood I got a manic, terrified glint in my eye. So I am not imagining how I feel, then! On the bright side I won NYE karaoke with an inspired Tainted Love as performed by a pregnant, female Marc Almond

auntymandy · 05/01/2007 15:20

when do you have your main scan.. I have forgotten everything is it around 20weeks?

doggus · 05/01/2007 16:24

Hi auntymandy - I think it's 20 weeks, mine is booked for 6th Feb when I will be 19 5.

annobal · 05/01/2007 16:57

I think it can be up to 23/24 weeks - mine isn't til the beginning of March - but then I'm not due until the very end of June.

Welcome to all the newbies - it is good knowing that there's others in the same boat out there.

Seansgirl hats off to you - that will be a story for the sweet sixteenth - or really anytime there is a gathering of teenagers and embarrassment opportunity is at optimum level.

I'm really enjoying this pg so far - looking forward to getting fat and actually the birth and having a new LO.

It's funny but I didn't enjoy the pg with DS2 at all - I think it's because I had DS1 and DS2 quite close (16 months) and DS1 was premmie - I was petrified it would all happen again. Also, the labour pain with DS1 was horrific - DS2 just very hard work (oh, and a bit of pain). Didn't help that gas and air sends me loopy, allergic to pethadine and was refused an epidural...

Does anyone else feel the same?

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/01/2007 17:06

Hi everyone,
Just got test results back for spina bifida blood test. Another low risk so am quite relieved.

Am surprised to see everyone having m/w & GP appointments. Apart from my 12 week scan and the blood tests no-one has looked at me, or checked anything. Am now 18 weeks and was told to make an appt at 24 weeks for routine check (I guess urine, blood pressure etc). 12 weeks seems a long time between appointments. This is my first pregnancy so not sure if this is right. Any ideas anyone?

annobal · 05/01/2007 17:17

I'm not sure what the guidelines are but I have an independent mw and see her every 4 weeks (up to about 28 weeks then with increasing regularity). Admittedly when I see her she just monitors my bp and urine. I think also different areas have different policies. That said, it does seem a long time between - have you had blood tests etc taken?

annobal · 05/01/2007 17:17

btw great news on the test

doggus · 05/01/2007 18:16

Nice one, tallulah! It is reassuring, isn't it.

I have seen the midwife twice - once at 8 weeks for a ten minute chat and once at 12 weeks for a proper booking in and blood test. I am seeing her again at 16 weeks. No-one has so much as mentioned a urine test. I gave myself a dreadful shock yesterday. One of my cravings is baby beetroot. You can guess - wee was bright scarlet, thought I'd miscarried, dh rushed in....and reminded me of my evening meal.

SmilingKiwi · 05/01/2007 19:31

Hi Ladies Wishing you all a vey Happy New Year! Its going to be a very exciting 2007! I have continued to feel really well with no MS, and managed a huge NYE party, dancing all night till about 4am!! Have had alot of gas/wind/bloating recently and felt amazing after all the jumping around- must have given myself a shake up inside!!
Hope the UTI is improving DaisyBump, they are horrid things!
Welcome to newbies..it is also our first babe so I am very much in the dark and looking forward to all those experienced Mums on our thread reassuring us.. eh!!???
I am really keen on a local Birthing Centre which is attached to a hospital (nice to know medical intervention is round the corner!)So I am currently under two hospitals..good to get scans twice but I needed to have all my bloods done twice to!!
So exciting to be in the 2nd tri, we can only get bigger!!
Have a nice weekend
xx

auntymandy · 06/01/2007 07:38

I am looking forward to seeing the midwife on thursday. I am begining to wonder if I am just putting on loads of weight and not really pregnant!!
Think this is because I am almost 16 weeks and not seen anyone yet. I need it confirming now!!!
