Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 41st grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 41sr grads thread is HERE

The thread we have graduated from is HERE in its 55th outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread HERE
for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

HERE is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates. (Except it's not because I don't know how to link to the stats sheet!)

mermaid you can always ask for foils and keep the bleach a few mm from the scalp so nothing is making contact with your skin. I let my bleached bits grow out and dyed them bubblegum pink for like 5 months... 2 weeks ago I put a deep brown all over. Can't cope with high maintenance hair and the 3rd trimester... I actually really like having my natural colour back...

Hmm if hair dye is so bad what do people expect pregnant hairdressers to do with themselves?!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 13/12/2015 21:59

Molly the site I linked to is affiliated with SickKids Hosital which is the Canadian version of Great Ormond Street. It is also funded by Shoppers Drug Mart, which is basically the Canadian version of Boots Chemist. What I like about it is that it provides actual statistics and annotates the countries where studies took place as well as clearly outlining risk factors.

TriJo · 13/12/2015 22:01

Molly 2 girls in my year in school (in Dublin, late 90s/early 00s) had that name and both pronounced it Eye-leesh. Stress always on second I if you're using the fada. It's a really nice one IMHO :)

Mermaid36 · 13/12/2015 22:04

This is my hair currently.... (until I change my mind anyway)....I'm a blonde underneath, but haven't been natural for about 6 years....

fruitlovingmonkey · 13/12/2015 22:05

Glad everything is ok Sky, get munching!
I have it in my head that regular lemsip is ok but lemsip max is not. Of course, all I have in the house is max so I'm sticking to honey, ginger and lemon. Haven't had a cold this bad in years, I'm feeling very sorry for myself nowSad.
My hairdresser said highlights are ok after 1st tri, before that they don't do them because a lot of women get sensitive skin and have a reaction. Then my obstetrician said no hair colour with ammonia. I don't know which is right but by the time I hit 2nd tri my roots were terrible anyway so I'm just going to keep growing it out until I get to ombré!
Hope those Christmas babies are getting ready for eviction!

pretzelpieces · 13/12/2015 22:28

sky Ugh sorry to hear that. I hope they figure out what it is and fix it. I had low BP and low iron and feel a bit less crap now I'm on iron tablets but still have very woozy days.

thurs get well soon.

zyla you genius! I took another look (I swear I hunted all over this car seat!) and the instruction book was wedged in the back all tucked away and was almost impossible to pry out without breaking the damn thing! How stupid! Mystery solved though! What would I do without the viroids.

pretzelpieces · 13/12/2015 23:14

fruit Aw you get well soon as well. Sorry, I somehow missed a load of posts (including the whole hairdye conversation) before I posted. Xmas Blush

YouBastardSockBalls · 14/12/2015 07:17

I'm just lurking as only 4 weeks..!Blush

I had terrible colds in last two pregnancies, and had a unanimous NO from all HCPs I asked regarding decongestants. There was some pretty compelling evidence so I steered clear. I'll try to remember what I read! It gets frustrating when you're told you're not allowed things but they generally don't just make it up Smile

How far on is everyone? I can remember a few from JS!

I'm paranoid that somethings going to go wrong in this pregnancy, for no particular reason...! We've got an ultrasound scanner for livestock and I've got a feeling DH will need to lock it away before long!

jellypi3 · 14/12/2015 07:44

Morning all! Sorry to hear a lot of you are snotty! I had 2 really horrible colds in the first tri but I have been very conservative with this pg and didn't take anything for them, just honey and lemon by the gallon I think it's the same approach as eating certain foods etc. If you want to take the risk that's fine and nobody can judge you.

8.5 working days left until Maternity leave. CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!!

Oh and you would be proud of me ladies. DP and I had some condomless fun this morning Wink

YB that must be tempting! I'd deffo have to lock it away. If you go to the first page there's a stats sheet you can see how far everyone is and add yourself when you are ready Smile

CountryGal4 · 14/12/2015 07:58

Ooossh love your hair mermaid. Personally I gave hair dye a miss til after first trimester . Saying that though there didn't seem to be proper advice about it anywhere

oneyorkshirepud · 14/12/2015 08:02

Ha ha great work Jelly and Mr Jelly!!

Mermaid I now have an image of your DH giving you an ultrasound scan in a cow shed - very festive!

Hope everyone has a good Monday and that the count downs to maternity leave goes quickly. Off for a walk this morning to try to encourage baby to get a wiggle on. Feel like I need to hold my hips in place when I walk though so it might not be a very long walk!

CarrotPuff · 14/12/2015 08:07

Poor you fruit, I hope you get better soon. Colds suck, even more so when you're pg.

I've always dyed my hair in pg, regardless of which trimester. But then I only go for dark brown, do less bad stuff in there I reckon. Never had a reaction or funny colours either. I think you'll be fine mermaid.

I can't remember if I said welcome to YB - welcome if I didn't!

I had the most horrible night's sleep ever. I couldn't fall asleep at all, finally did some time after 2am, and had to be up at 6... Even then I managed to wake up once in that short space of time because I was dreaming human eating rats were after me, that turned into Walking Dead style zombies Hmm I'm so shattered... Thankfully got my anti D jab this afternoon so only working half day. Never thought I'd be looking forward to being stabbed with a needle!

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/12/2015 08:08

Are you a farmer YB? My dad has a dairy farm and generally gets the vet to look at him before deciding whether to go to the actual doctor Hmm

Well done to the Jelly family, congrats, sounds like a good time was had by all Wink

Cold not too bad here. Hope everyone else feels better Thanks

lildottie · 14/12/2015 08:52

Hi all. I'm so behind on here, I'm not going to pretend I have time to catch up! Will try and keep up from now though.

molly never leave the jsers, its carnage out there!

yb congrats and welcome! bring that scanner to mine pretty please!

Have I missed any other newbies

YouBastardSockBalls · 14/12/2015 09:21

Yes farmers lol. DH is a contractor too and does livestock scanning.

Lovely to see you lil!

Thursday my friend is a vet who tells me that that happens often! Grin

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 14/12/2015 09:48

YB I am not saying that doctors make things up... If you ask an NHS GP they will tell you that they err on the side of caution for all medications. The abstract I linked to sites at least 2 recent studies showing no links between OTC cold medicines and fetal risk.

5hell · 14/12/2015 09:57

it's certainly ironic that the one thing everyone agrees we can take (paracetamol) is a well known hepatotoxin (liver toxin) that wouldn't get anywhere near approval now! ...not tryign to scare anyone, obviously as it has been around for so long, if there were any pg-specific problems they'd have been spotted long ago, but it does go to show that it's all a bit pointless probably!

mer i think hair dye is fine, other thing to consider though is whether you can stomach the smell/heat/time etc of getting it done in current state :)

MollyBloomYes · 14/12/2015 10:03

Lil somewhat naively I thought if I avoided aibu I'd be ok! Only one person though so not too awful! And thanks tri it would work well on a couple of levels as a middle name so think I'll go for it (if it's a girl of course!)

Mermaid I love your hair! I've decided I want to do exciting things with mine, too many years as an actress needing neutral styles and then teacher needing boring ones! Getting it cut into pixie style Saturday then very tempted to bleach the fuck out of it once dust has settled with baby! Why yes, yes I am a walking cliche of post break up transformation Wink

Sorry to all those feeling grotty and sleep deprived. I've managed to chew a large chunk out of tongue in night. Fun!

5hell · 14/12/2015 10:10

i was clearly far too smug about my good night's sleep on saturday night - slept like crap again last night (you have my sympathy carrot). Have started getting this weird burping/coughing/odd oesophogeal sensation which would occur everytime i nearly dropped off...fear it may be the predecessor of heartburn!

did manage to do plenty more xmas shopping yesterday though, so less stressed about xmas now (although have still bought NOTHING for DH!)

sock step away from the home ultrasound!...could be more dangerous than a doppler!!!!!

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 14/12/2015 10:21

molly yes yes to makeover! You can't be the new you with the old you's hair... you have a great face for a pixie. You remind me of Emily Deschanel... so pretty!

FeatheredTail · 14/12/2015 10:54

Still getting my highlights done, for anyone who's interested Xmas Smile

Sorry for those with colds...it defies logic that we've managed to land a man on the moon, make genetic replicas of sheep and yet STILL don't have a cure for the common cold! My (stinky) tip that always works is to chop up 2-3 cloves of garlic and swallow it all down with some orange juice. YES you stink, but YES your cold will be practically gone the next day!

5hell poor you - are you at work today?

I really cannot be arsed with this last week at work before Christmas annual leave. I'm devoid of motivation. I'm tired. I'm just merhhh.

I've also got - I think - jeremies. I had a pooh on Saturday and there was a considerable amount of red blood in the loo. I can only assume I either broke my bum with the mighty effort it took or it's jeremies. Might go to the doctor to confirm it's nothing more sinister.

I'm now on 'all bran crunch' and lactulose for breakfast and can't stop poohing. Dear lord. The indignity.

On a more exciting note, when did the 2nd-3rd tri-ers of you first feel your babies move? I thought I felt some flutters last week, but have had nothing since (and have assumed the flutters were part of my new and unusal bowel issues)

SkyWasMadeOfAmethyst · 14/12/2015 11:01

Just seen GP. Blood pressure better, pulse high and blood sugar normal. Have to go back tomorrow to get checked again and off to hospital for blood tests. Having Full Blood Count, Thyroid and Iron checked. Wheeeee! Xmas Hmm On the plus side, there is a Lidl by the bus stop so can get some of that virgin mulled wine someone said was nice...

oneyorkshirepud · 14/12/2015 11:18

Good news Sky.

Feathered your post made me giggle! You may just have a tear and not jeremies. Lots of fibre should sort that out. If it is jeremies I have no advice. I went to the docs after a tear last year (thought I was actually dying after consulting google) and he said something like 25% of people will have had a bum bleed in the last 6 months and to jot worry about it and that it wasn't worth a finger up the bum! I loved him a bit for that response! I think if you are older (over 40?) they worry about more sinister things but until then he just said chow down on more fibre.

First felt baby move at 15 weeks, but then nothing for 2 more weeks and then most days from 17 weeks. My placenta is posterior though and I don't have much stomach chub it is all distributed elsewhere so I think that's why I felt movements quite early, Eep exciting if you are feeling baby move though!

Molly, back the actual truck up! You were an actress?! More details needed please! As v jealous of a Pixie hair cut, I would love one but my face is too round to pull it off! Get it chopped and then put a pic on FB so we can all coo!

Currently making an epic spreadsheet to work out the finer details of maternity pay. (Pay roll gave me a breakdown but that is before tax, NI, student loans and pension contributions!) Now I need to work out where we can save all the money that we won't have! Joy!

YouBastardSockBalls · 14/12/2015 11:19

Feathered with baby 1 I felt movements around 20 weeks, and baby 2 around 17 weeks. Like little air popping feelings at first.

Sky good news about BP Smile

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/12/2015 11:25

With DS it wasn't til somewhere between 18/20 weeks, this time though, I'm sure I felt the baby move at approx 14 weeks!

And now at 27+5 the blasted thing moves the iPad if it's on my tum!
