Hey newts - my midwife had a feel of me on Dec 21 and didn't say anything about the baby being engaged, the consultant gave me a feel three days later and boom! baby is 3/5 engaged.
Basically the lower the number on top = the more engaged baby is. So 0/5 basically means it's nearly showtime (quite literally!) x

XxxNewtsxxX · 29/12/2015 22:43

Thank 2ManySweets Ahhhh so he's nearly ready to come out 😯 omg so nervous now...

And thanks elephantoverthehill but looks like he maybe coming early lol x

At least you won't be up to your eyes in birthday cakes and children's parties on your birthday if baby makes an early arrival. Grin

Also (whilst this thread is temporarily resurrected) anyone else crippled with pregsomnia?
Am now 35 weeks and not sleeping between 2am and 5am nightly due to a) baby having a party in there b) fear of rolling onto my front or right side and doing harm to baby.
I can now see why folk get super fractious and impatient from this point on; so close to the finish line, you just want to GET THERE and for everything to be JUST FINE 🙄

XxxNewtsxxX · 29/12/2015 23:15

Sleeping on your right side won't harm baby I asked my midwife this and she said it's fine just try to sleep on left side as well.
I wake up about every 1 and half hours as baby moves sides and have to have a pillow under he's bum bump so it's easier to sleep (spoilt already 😂) .

It's a good thing baby is having parties in there otherwise you'd never sleep due to worrying haha.

Yes, definite pregsomnia over here. Mine is usually due to needing the loo, and then I can never get back to sleep until I've felt baby move - mine isn't much of a midnight raver (crossing everything this behaviour continues on the outside too!)

Is anyone trying an 'eviction plan' at all? I'm 37 weeks today and thinking about cracking out the curries, long walks and 'you know' to give him a bit of a nudge.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 30/12/2015 05:05

I'm 40 weeks on Sunday and holding off on the eviction plan until Friday. I'm in Scotland and if baby is born in January I can choose if she goes to school age 4 or age 5. Dd started at 5 and I loved the extra time with her so would like the option again.

I've been getting some pretty strong braxton hicks though. They'll just start getting regular/painful then they dissappear Confused

Elvi1 · 30/12/2015 07:31

Another pregsomniac over here too - well, not from being wide awake - I'm sooo tired - but cos I'm so damn uncomfortable! However, I'm finding I can get comfy enough to grab an hour or two during the day so at least that's something - feel sorry for those of you who have other kids to look after and don't have that luxury.

I have a new symptom: I've been getting really awful cramps prior to a bowel movement which are slightly more....erm...'looser' than usual 😳. The cramps are really severe, so much so I wondered whether intense BH or pre-labour pains but nope, the intense pain tends to clear after I've been to loo. Anyone else suffering with something similar? I hope it's not a bug - I don't think it is.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 30/12/2015 07:43

I've been getting the same thing for a few weeks Elvi. Doesn't seem to have developed into anything else yet but you never know!

anneliandbetsy · 30/12/2015 07:45

Elvi - I'm exactly the same too!! The last few days. I'm not due until the 25th - midwife said although she is head down near the rim of my pelvis she hasn't actually started to engage yet - so I don't think it can be early labour with me. Thinking it's just because everything's so squashed inside making it sore and loose.
It's delightful pregnancy.

oneconfusedchick · 30/12/2015 09:19

Hi! I have my mid wife appointment tomorrow where I hope I will find out if baby has moved from oblique lie. I'm still feeling kicks low down on my right hand side but I am getting the occasional pummel on left so maybe baby has moved. A few people have mentioned about being engaged (or not!) - just to throw my pennies worth in- with DC 1 I don't think I was ever engaged until induction lol! I had him at 41+6 after a 2.5 day induction - really don't want to repeat that but there is such a massive history in my family of long pregnancies and induction I've kind of resigned myself. Have kinda decided though if baby does not move and they suggest an ECV I will decline it and opt for a c section as I think a planned section is better than EMC if anything goes wrong,, will cross that bridge when I come to it though - hope you are all hanging in there. I def feel the pregnancy a lot more with this second one - I get tired easily when walking and only had this at around 40 weeks with my first!! I am 36+1 today - roll on tomorrow's appointment! X

oneconfusedchick · 30/12/2015 09:21

Oh also with the sleeping thing with both babies I have/am regularly waking up in on my back- nothing much I have done about that - DC 1 is a healthy bouncy 2 year old!

oneconfusedchick · 30/12/2015 09:21

I mean I go to sleep on side but wake up on my back!

tinyme135 · 30/12/2015 10:07

I have a midwife appointment today so I get to see where I stand with everything. last night and throughout the night too my stomach kept hardening but I wasn't sure if it was the LO moving causing it to harden (as sometimes you could see my belly was a weird shape) or it was actually tightening on its own as other times when it hardened it was my normal tiny bump.

this morning I woke up and my hips felt like they was on fire. like I've been to an all night spinning class. so eager for this LO to come out now getting fed up haha just over a week left till due date :)

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 30/12/2015 10:17

I'm with you on the second pregnancy being harder confused. Although maybe it's just because rest isn't really an option! I don't remember getting to the desperate for it to be over stage the first time even though I was overdue by the time she was born. This time I would happily have had her out at 37 weeks on the dot!

Oh well, only 4 days till due date 😨

Elvi1 · 30/12/2015 16:28

Saw MW today and she said that the change in bowel movement could be pre-labour; body flushing system out in preparation, so could be imminent, but as some of you have had same thing for weeks I won't get my hopes up. I'm not at the stage desperately want the baby out even though uncomfortable - 2 weeks is scarily not too far off! Baby's head is also 3/5 engaged - the mw said any further down than that and I would be struggling to walk.

Those of you whose babies are lying oblique or breech, what about trying some yoga moves? Someone also suggested at our antenatal classes that burning candle near or on one of your toes encourages baby to turn (some Chinese method). Me and my husband thought it sounded utterly ridiculous when it was mentioned and we thought surely an old wives tale, but the midwife running the session actually endorsed it!

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 30/12/2015 16:47

I think the bowel stuff can be something or nothing, just like everything it seems! Obviously it was nothing for me but it might be something for you!

I walked to the supermarket earlier and got back pain. Feels very similar to the pain I had before dd was born so I'm bouncing on my birthing ball to see if anything comes of it.

fourlegstwolegs · 30/12/2015 18:10

Insomnia here too! I wake up with hip pain and turn over constantly. Often don't get back to sleep. ELCS booked for 21st - 3 weeks tomorrow!

Nousername2015 · 31/12/2015 13:53

Soooo... Anyone out raving tonight? Grin

oneconfusedchick · 31/12/2015 15:10

Haha no! At the in laws for a bit until DS1 gets tired then will go home and get a few hours tv on sofa lol rock on! Had my midwife app today - she says baby is def head down now so no longer oblique - I must say I have not done much other than sit on the sofa reclining and th baby has moved of his own accord!

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 31/12/2015 15:44

Oh hell no. I'll be eating pizza, drinking juice and celebrating 'midnight' (fake a countdown at 8pm) with dd then it's off to bed for her and me Grin

To be fair it's what I've done for the last 5 non pregnant years anyway.

Elvi1 · 03/01/2016 18:52

Happy New Year ladies.

Any news/movements/signs? I've started to get some period type cramping, but tends to only be for a bit during the night. Other than that, no news.

vickyors · 03/01/2016 19:08

I'm just at 36 weeks and heading back to work tomorrow for a week.. Kinda dreading it, but I'll get a bit of head space away from my toddler who is great but tiring!! Feeling HUGE! Anyone else got terrible skin??

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 03/01/2016 19:19

I've had pretty strong contractions today bit have eased off now. Same thing happened yesterday. Getting a little grumpy now.

Elvi1 · 03/01/2016 19:38
