Anything that involves back pain and any "poo" feelings means you need to a) call your midwife and probably b) go to the hospital.

Even if the blood when you wipe is from the back end (is it?) you ought to still get any negative changes at this late stage checked out.

It's probably nothing but better to be sure and I promise you, nobody will think you're a timewaster (I work for the NHS so I'm the authority on this Grin)

Please let us know how it goes Flowers

blood is front end xD and I just called them and they think it's my show I just saw and they think I have an infection so to call mu docs. I'm on the phone to them now and they aren't answering...typical. everytime I move in get tightening and pains. if it is the start I want it to end already haha xD

Can I join in?

I'm due 3rd of Jan so was 38 weeks yesterday. This will be dd2, dd1 was late so wouldn't be too surprised if I go a bit past due date.

I was induced with DD1 so have no idea what a natural labour feels like, i'm terrified i'll not realise and not get to the hospital in time (dd1 was a very very quick). I've tested positive for strep B so need antibiotics in labour, just to make things a bit more stressful.

How are you feeling tiny? I think the not knowing which pains mean something and which are just random pains is the most frustrating bit.

tinyme135 · 21/12/2015 17:57

hey we can be clueless together xD I'm still getting pains that are taking my breath away but they're too far apart to call triage. finally got through to the docs and they're seeing me tomorrow first thing to see if it's an infection or not

Poor you tiny - glad you finally got through to someone and hopefully the tightenings you're getting will ease off - does sound like it could be an infection? Either way if they get more frequent and intense call the MAU!

Hello oi - not long for you now! I'm a ftm but have been assured I'll know when I'm in labour but totally understand worrying about it. I don't like to trouble people so can just imagine myself putting off calling the labour ward and leaving it too late Smile

nousername glad the scan went well but don't worry about size - scans are notoriously hit and miss when it comes to judging size so you might end up with a really small baby, you never know!

Hey ladies, hope you are doing ok. Sounds like some of us are not far off from some significant movements occurring!

FINALLY started maternity leave as of this lunchtime - was so stressed this weekend that worked from home just to finish things off so wouldn't have to go in tomo and Wednesday! Such a rush at the end that doesn't seem real that won't be going back until November!!

nousername, sounds like you are growing a healthy baby! Last week when I had my scan at 36.6 weeks mine was weighing at 6lbs with estimated birth weight of 7lbs 10, so I guess your estimated birth weight is just shy of 9lbs? Try not to worry, it's just an estimate and a 8-9 pounder doesn't sound too large to me - know easy for me to say - but have heard of heavier estimations and they've ended up far smaller!

Had midwife appointment this afternoon and head is still not engaged - felt a little disheartened but the mw didn't seem overly concerned, although she dos casually say that babies are usually engaged by now and usually its second babies who engage as late as labour. My DH did remind me that could happen at any time - tonight, tomorrow - at least it's head down and in good position. Currently bouncing on my ball!

Congrats on starting your mat leave elvi! How far are you along now? I wouldn't worry about baby not being engaged, everyone's different and some don't engage until labour even for first timers. Mine's not engaged yet at 35+4 and doesn't feel like he's about to be any time soon...

Hope you're hanging in there tiny!

Bloody pregnancy insomnia Xmas Sad I seem to wake up at half 3 every night and then can't get back to sleep for hours. It's driving me mad!

Elvi I wouldn't worry about baby not being engaged. I'm trying to remember but i'm pretty sure my first didn't until I was actually in labour.

I was getting loads if braxton hicks yesterday afternoon and evening but they seem to have gone now. Was getting a bit nervous it might turn into the real thing and I started stressing about who would be santa for dd1 if I was in hospital (she's 5 so old enough to be very very excited Xmas Grin) ended up writing pages of instructions for my sister who is looking after her when baby comes.

Elvi1 · 22/12/2015 05:27

Tell me about it oi (the insomnia) - I'm up every hour to go to the loo and then usually awake for two hours around 4:30-5...at least don't have to go to work now. When are you due? if you did go into labour your daughter might be so excited about a new sibling that she may forget about Santa being held up for a day or two.

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow lily so just over a week ahead of you. Are you still going yoga? I missed last week and actually feel I'm too big now to go back and reap the benefits. £16 is a lot of money to pay when too fat to get into many of the positions.

Thanks, ladies. I've read nowt to do with being late or anything and can happen in labour. Things seems to have been going really well otherwise so my instincts tell me not to worry. Well, not yet anyway. MW told me to go up the stairs like a crab?! Immediately had visions of me on all fours climbing up stairs sideways, but I'm sure she didn't mean anything athletic like that and just meant sidestepping (why didn't she just say that?).

I'm due 3rd of Jan Elvi, so less than two weeks (officially, I'll probably be late) managed to get another hours sleep in and am now gearing up for the last school run of the year (in the pouring rain Xmas Hmm). Hopefully by the time the holidays are over I'll be pushing the pram there!

Nousername2015 · 22/12/2015 08:20

I'm hearing you loud and clear with the insomnia! DH has now moved into the spare room to have a chance of getting some sleep, I feel awful about it and worry that we won't be close again before the baby arrives.

Anyone's hormones also out of control lately too? Been in a right grump over the past couple of days but could be tiredness.

How is everything today tiny?

Report
tinyme135 · 22/12/2015 08:31

omg I know what you mean about being grumpy. I can't help but snap at my OH.

as much as I would love LO to be here I want him to wait till after Christmas for 1) each family doesn't moan that the other one is seeing him 2) so I don't feel bad telling people I want to stay at my own house for Christmas.

I had some more tightening late last night but was so far apart couldn't go in. off to the docs to check I haven't got an infection.

hope everyone is doing well and sorted for Christmas Xmas Smile

This maybe a daft question but we haven't been able to find out the answer online....so we have bought a new mattress for a second hand crib my brother is lending us - when should we take it out of the packaging to air?

I'm not sure but could you phone mothercare or one of those shops and ask them? it's not a question I have even thought about lol.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 22/12/2015 12:11

I was actually wondering that exact same thing Elvi! I was thinking I'll get dp to do it once baby is born and I'm still in hospital.

My hormones aren't really making me grumpy, just super emotional at times. I was absolutely sobbing the other day because dd was going overnight at her dad's, which she has been doing 2 times a week since she was 2! It never normally bothers me but I was inconsolable. Not in front of her by the way, kept a lid on it until she was gone.

lilyb84 · 22/12/2015 13:15

Insomnia and hormones - check. I keep finding I don't sleep for most of the night then drop off around 5 when I need to be up in less than 2 hours so then over sleep! Annoying as I then end up working later to make up the hours and get no evening Hmm

I did two weeks of yoga elvi but last week's got cancelled as everyone apart from me cancelled - it's then on a break until the first week of Jan. I've paid for 6 sessions which was already going to take me up to my EDD but now looks like I'll lose a week of that. Doh!

Hope it went okay at the doctor tiny.

I just got to wait for my results back. woke up this morning with a load of discomfort. back has gotten worse, I feel all swollen and heavy down there, also feels like I've been kicked between my legs and a pain where no matter how little or much I moved it took my breath away. I just want it to end now. :(

Totally the wrong day to bring up topics like this but is everyone cooking and freezing meals in advance? Starting to plan what to make, so far I'll be making:
Lamb curry
Moroccan chicken
Shepherds pie
Tuna and bean bake

Anyone else got any nice meals to share?

I want to nousername but we have a tiny freezer and no microwave! Think I'll try and some things like bolognese, stew, chili etc which I can pop into freezer bags and then defrost to have with boil in the bag rice or simple pasta...

tiny hope you get your results soon.

I'm due on 26th Jan - don't want to join the Facebook group. Hope everyone is doing well! Baby was lying oblique at 35 week scan - have a check up with midfiwe next week so hopefully will know then if baby has turned - anyone in similar situation? With my first they thought he was breech - a scan a few weeks later showed he was head down so not sure if he was actually breach or simply just moved! :)

Hi oneconfusedchick, have you had your check up yet to see if baby moved? I have my 38 mw app tomo. At 36 weeks head wasn't engaged and I'm guessing this will be the case tomorrow as I don't feel any different. Sigh.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. We've had so many visitors, really looking forward to a day by ourselves (as nice as its been seeing people)

Any one been told how much of the baby's head is engaged ? I was told he's head is 1/5 engaged and I am confused about what that means in my pregnancy book it says deeply engaged but my midwife said that it's going slowly ? And on my scan it's says he is to far into the pelvis to get a measurement of he's head.

OP in answer to your original question - me - it's my birthday and a very good birthday date it is too. My DS 1 was due on the same date but he came a little earlier. Good luck.
