Sorry rjp only just seen this, I hope you were able to get an appointment/advice. Sounds awful, the last thing you need at this stage.

All the best to those with Elcs today /tomorrow. lily hope all is OK with you. I'm 40 weeks today... Baby doesn't appear to be in any hurry to arrive. (sweep booked for tomorrow to see what's going on, I suspect v little!)

mrsjskelton · 20/01/2016 12:02

Due yesterday!

vickyors · 20/01/2016 13:16

Rpj I haven't heard of that but I hope you get to see someone asap! Sounds horrendous!

I had six hours sleep in a row last night.. Was sooo good..

Elvi I understand about wanting to have the baby though.. It's hard when you're excited to meet the little one, and everyone wants to know if they've arrived!

Rpj16 · 20/01/2016 13:45

Thanks for the well wishes :) I saw doctor today and she said it was PEP. If you google it, what I have isn't quite as gross as the pictures. I don't think its very common, and it doesn't affect the baby or cause anything long term. And it should disappear after labour. I've got prescribed huge thing of moisturiser and steroid cream to treat it (handy to have so much moisturiser!!) And prescriptions are free during pregnancy - bonus!

Just hope it helps. Good luck with he sweep phiz, I have mine booked for Saturday.

I love how 6 hours sleep is considered a good thing. I think I had 4 hours broken from this stupid itching!

Elvi1 · 20/01/2016 13:53

Thanks vickyors - I think the worse thing is there feels like such a burden of responsibility now to deliver baby safely - monitoring movements, hoping my body responds and adjusts to labour etc. My sweep today was successful in that although my cervix is still firm and posterior, it's shortened from 3cm to 1cm and she could actually feel baby's head and she had a good, prolonged route around. It was VERY uncomfortable to say the least but had to be done. I'm booked in to be induced on Friday in nothing happens. Pessary first, then see how I go. It's hard getting head around intervention, but the mw said that my hopes for an active labour and using the birth ball are not out of the window yet, and said that even if I go on the drip I can move around. I suppose inducement doesn't have to be a negative experience. Spontaneous labour can not go to plan either.....

I've been telling people I'm going in on Monday so that we don't get lots of update requests over the weekend from anxious family and friends. Sneaky, ha!

Sounds like a few of us are feeling like having a tough time but not long now.

Boosiehs · 20/01/2016 15:05

DS2 born this morning weighing an impressive 8lb9 at 39 weeks. God knows how heavy if he had been 42 like his big brother!!

Needless to say the ELCS was flipping marvellous. Amazing staff at Queen Charlottes, can't praise them enough even though they had to deal with emergencies before we went in.

Lovely calm experience, with a backing track of smooth radio. :)

lilyb84 · 20/01/2016 15:10

Congratulations boosie! My little boy was also born this morning, weighing 7lb 5oz. I had an epidural in the end as just wasn't coping with the pain, very happy with the decision as I wouldn't have managed - I was having contractions from 2am until 11pm when they gave me the epidural and was in my last reserves of strength!

Baby is perfect and healthy and currently sleeping next to me on the postnatal ward-hoping I can get some sleep too!

I feel bad for those of you waiting beyond your due dates, having had DS at a very timely 39+5, but not long now until you meet your little ones! Stay positive!

Rpj16 · 20/01/2016 15:11

Congratulations!! Flowers

Rpj16 · 20/01/2016 15:11

to both of you!! :)

anneliandbetsy · 20/01/2016 16:31

Congratulations!!! :))) exciting!!

Elvi I have been back in for reduced movements again and had the exact same internal examination experience. Shortened cervix but not soft enough to do a sweep, however had a very good "massage" of cervix Not enjoyable at all.

I'm booked in for induction tomorrow - not the ideal scenario but If anything happened whilst waiting now - I'd never forgive myself. Have same hopes as you for active birth etc. Frightened though!

Boosiehs · 20/01/2016 18:06

Congratulations Lily and good luck Anellie

oneconfusedchick · 20/01/2016 18:13

Congratulations!! Good luck to everyone having baby tomorrow. 39+1 here and no signs baby coming. Seem to be having more discharge than normal but it's watery (tmi sorry!) rather than gloopy so don't think it's my plug. I just want to buck the trend in my family and not go 10+ days over and be induced.. Only time will tell tho I guess ! Flowers

oneconfusedchick · 20/01/2016 18:13

Meant to say don't think is waters either as its not enough

Phizpop · 20/01/2016 19:15

Congratulations lily and boosiehs!
Elvi such a good idea to put the family /friends off the scent, hope the induction if required goes smoothly and you can be active as you like. Hope your induction annelie goes well too!

Just heard that a colleague who had an Elcs on Monday at 39 weeks had a boy of 11lb4...bet she was glad it was a C section at that weight!

Elvi1 · 20/01/2016 21:26

Woah!! Maybe that's why she had a c-section?

Congratulations to all the new mums and good luck to those being induced/have planned c-secs tomo. X

vickyors · 20/01/2016 22:10

Had to go to hospital this eve as was having regular contractions. They were lovely and monitored me.. They were super busy so could 't do the section unless it was an emergency, and it wasn't. (Baby was super happy and wriggly) They offered me a stay on the ward but I live close to the hospital and wanted to come home..

I had an exam and I'm not dilated etc..

They gave me coediene (sooooo good) and I'm feeling very chilled. I'm still having contractions but they feel very distant. They said I could go back anytime if it gets worse.. Going to bed to get some sleep..

They were so nice, and the consultant was great- it didn't feel busy at all on labour ward! They keep it so calm. I'm assuming it'll all chill out and I'll go ahead with elcs next week..

Nousername2015 · 20/01/2016 23:07

Congratulations lily and boosiehs!
It sounds like things are starting to happen for quite a few others too - good luck!
For those still waiting, hope you aren't kept waiting too much longer.

2ManySweets · 21/01/2016 10:38

lily, boosiehs, congrats! It's all kicking off isn't it? Exciting times...

Managed to lock myself out the mobile app hence I've not been on for a bit and now going in via desktop; not the same as tapping out missives from my phone!

Feeling much better, I had an amazing night's sleep, poo oddities have gone away, I've got more energy and I feel the best I've felt since Christmas. 39w tomorrow and the most optimistic about baby, labour, everything for weeks.

Going into C London today so this without a doubt means I'll end up in rapid labour on the tube or something haha. Grin

Vicky keep us posted, sounds like it could be the start of something exciting. I'm convinced my baby will be a February arrival.

fourlegstwolegs · 21/01/2016 13:12

I've got my baby! Had the c section this morning, much less hurried than the emergency one first time round. They even played David Bowie songs during surgery. Little daughter now asleep on my tummy and its all very lovely. I'm sending hurry up thoughts to everyone's babies still waiting!

Phizpop · 21/01/2016 14:10

Congratulations fourlegs. Flowers Sounds like a good experience!
Midwife was optimistic about my sweep, so here's hoping I'm not waiting too much longer, but then knowing me ill be back to see her next week.... I don't like the waiting, and I'm only one day over. How are you doing elvi any signs? My induction booked for 1st Feb if required.
sweets glad you are better on the poo front and generally feeling well!
vicky hope you are still feeling chilled.
rjp how's the rash, did you get some more sleep last night?

mrsjskelton · 21/01/2016 14:20

Sweep this morning! Hoping things will get moving soon!
Congratulations fourlegs ThanksBiscuit

vickyors · 21/01/2016 14:47

Congrats to everyone with their babies! So exciting! ThanksWine to all (wish that was a champagne glass!)

I've had a lovely relaxed day. No more contractions after about 3am, so baby is clearly very happy.. All go ahead for elcs on tues..

Phizpop · 22/01/2016 10:29

Any updates mrsj? I was really hoping things might have started to move after my sweep but no signs yet. Getting frustrated. Hope you can keep active during induction Elvi

mrsjskelton · 22/01/2016 12:10

Nooooope! Been using my birthing ball, RLT, sweep made me bleed so I'm not feeling like asking DH to help out!! Absolutely nothing at all happening down there!!

Elvi1 · 22/01/2016 13:21

Hey all! Congrats fourlegs - arrr I love DB - what a nice way to come into the world! lots of luck who are waiting for their sweeps/ELCS to happen!

Well.....my sweep from Wednesday morning worked and our baby boy arrived yesterday at 12:30! Waterbirth in midwife led suite with no pain killers (not even gas and air). I don't say this smugly....had I been on labour ward I think I would have welcomed an epidural but they only offer gas and air in the midwife led suite and was in so much pain during contractions didn't have the energy to ask for it! He's so lovely - can't believe he's here!

phizpop - there's still a chance your sweep will do something - at the very least it might progress your cervix even if doesn't initiate labour.
