Congrats nousername - another baby on the thread! Maybe this is the start of a domino effect?

Pregsomnia here too; not complaining too hard as I've had a very good run of sleeps so far but I'm definitely not dropping off anytime soon...

anneliandbetsy · 13/01/2016 06:23

Congratulations nousername :) so exciting!! Thanks

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 07:51

congratulations nousername I hope you're recovering well and loving the time with your little one :)

I did go through the pregnancy insomnia but now I can sleep for England.

I'm loving all the baby names. we got ours and some of the family doesn't like it. Well it's not up to them if they do or not. if me and DP like it that's all that counts.

oneconfusedchick · 13/01/2016 09:05

Well my Jacob can wake up anytime between 6-8 so I tend to try to be in bed by 11 to make sure I can get sleep - Cody is nice I hadn't thought of that!!

Congratulations on the birth of your baby nousername! That's awesome and gives me hope. I would love the baby now - although with a little notice as my bag is still largely unpacked!!

Does anyone have any weird cravings? I love toast so much and also have this weird craving / loving the smell of cleaning products and some shower gel type smells. Find myself craving to use a bath bomb in the bath too - so random and not helped my the fact we don't have a bath at the moment!!!

fourlegstwolegs · 13/01/2016 09:31

Congratulations nousername, that's lovely news and glad it all went well.

Very bad insomnia here. I can sleep till 3.30/4 and that's my lot. I have tried reading, not reading, nothing helps. Wonderful!!!!

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 10:50

just had the sweep done and my back is killing. she wasn't kidding when she went it'll be uncomfortable.

mine is crunching on ice and ice cold water. like in the summer when you freeze a bottle of water and let it melt so you had constant ice cold water haha.

Elvi1 · 13/01/2016 13:14

Congratulations nousername - I hope you are recovering well.

Hope your sweep is successful tinyme, hope that I will be offered one on Friday. For now I have started on the raspberry leaf tea (albeit a bit late to start!)

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 13:21

hope you are allowed one too elvi

raspberry leaf tea tastes nasty couldn't stomach it haha.

everyone keeps texting me asking of its kicked started anything. the midwife said it can take up to 72 hours. I think people think it's a miracle worker xD

lilyb84 · 13/01/2016 16:08

Congratulations nousername, what a lovely surprise! Hope you and your little boy are doing well.

I have to be completely worn out to get any sleep at all otherwise I just lie there... Although the last week I've been waking every couple of hours for a wee with reasonably achey pains which I assume are BH.

elvi another King's moan - last mw I saw told me to book a 40 week appointment where I'd be offered a sweep, which I'd like to have if possible. But went to book and they're fully booked for weeks - nothing until I was 41+5 which would be too late. So I now have no further mw appointments. Going to try calling on my due date to see if they can squeeze me in anywhere but it's not looking hopeful Hmm

Hope your sweep kicks things off for you tiny!

In other news we had a scan yesterday as mw measured me small at the last appointment. All is well, apparently bump is 'all baby' which is why I'm quite small. No complaints here Smile

Wonder who'll be next? I'm 38+5 and still hopeful I'll follow my sister's example and be a week early but don't have any feeling that's likely right now!

fourlegstwolegs · 13/01/2016 16:27

Goodness - all these stories of not being able to see a midwife, and of getting different ones each time - do you guys live in big cities or something?
Its pretty rural here and I've seen the same one each time and she's never too busy. I assumed that was normal - maybe not! I have another appointment on Monday, then ELCS Thurs at 39+1....
ps I had three sweeps with DS1. Not pleasant! None of them worked either...

lilyb84 · 13/01/2016 17:30

London, fourlegs Smile

oneconfusedchick · 13/01/2016 17:34

I live in Sheffield and I've seen same midwife every time (other than hospital scan appointments and one hospital day care). I had my first child in London - I saw so many different midwives and only really had an assigned midwife who I saw 3-4 times in the last trimester c

Phizpop · 13/01/2016 18:18

Congratulations nousername hope you are recovering well and enjoying your new bundle of joy!

I'm on my second midwife but this because the first one relocated bases, tho I dont feel ive gelled with the second the same. But over than an issue back in the summer with appointments, ive not had any issues, and she had space for an extra visit for me tomorrow (39w).

Just had a haircut, first in absolutely ages, not sure what my hairdresser thought when I said I was due in a week...! But it was lovely to just sit and be pampered for a little bit!

tiny hope things start moving a bit quicker for you now!

Elvi1 · 13/01/2016 18:41

Oh no lily that's awful! I know sounds excessive but from 39 weeks perhaps ring every day to ask if any slots have come up? People start getting appointment reminders one week before their actual appointment date and some may cancel - there must be a fair number of women who are giving birth early and will be prompted to cancel their appointments when they recieve their automated reminders. We need regular monitoring at our stage in pregnancy and not being see between 38 to nearly 42 weeks is unacceptable. Not that you have anything to worry about!

Failing that, how about turning up at the maternity assessment unit (the place they recommend you go if have any concerns re movement)....at the very least they can check you out and then you can drop in that you haven't been given a 40 week appointment and they may take action?

May not come to this - you may be early!

vickyors · 13/01/2016 19:10

Congratulations nousername!

So glad that babies are coming along!

We had our meeting with the consultant for tomorrow cancelled, so I'm still not sure of the date for c section.. Just wish I at least knew.. Ah well.. Baby is happy enough and very wriggly.. Meeting now booked for Tuesday, (when I'll be into 38th week) so hope it's not too long after that..

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 20:46

I keep having back ache come and go for the past 3 ish hours bring me to tears. gonna relax in the bath for a bit to see if that helps me.

I've saw 3 different midwives. left first one as moved areas and she couldn't see me no more, second one left halfway through my care as she got a higher job in the hospital and now the one who gave me the lovely sweep xD

lilyb84 · 13/01/2016 20:47

Oh that's annoying vicky, hope your c section is booked in as soon as possible.

Thanks elvi, I'll definitely try calling again either on Friday or early next week - but here's hoping baby won't need any extra encouragement Smile

Haircut sounds like a good idea phiz! I've got a spa voucher to use so if I can I'm going to book a pregnancy massage for next week when I start mat leave. I'll be nearly at my due date by then so might be nice to be pampered before baby arrives!

fourlegs hope you're feeling good about your ELCS - in just over a week you'll be meeting your little one!

lilyb84 · 13/01/2016 20:48

Hope the bath helps tiny , have you got some paracetamol as well? How regular is the back pain? Hope you're okay.

2ManySweets · 13/01/2016 21:01

lily that's unacceptable - don't take it. As said upthread phone then lots to see if you can grab a cancelled appointment but generally make a fuss and magically an appointment will appear.

I'm in London too and I've had to rattle my pitchfork on a couple of occasions to get seen; my 28w would have been at nearly 31w had I not got a bit mardy.

Working for the NHS, and in London to boot, I know how stretched some places are, but don't expose yourself to risk just so you don't feel bad about getting on folks' backs.

Lecture over!

Ps: just had such an awesome nap between 4:30 and 6:30 so I'm sure I'll be back on at 03:00 Wink

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 21:23

they keep coming every 2-5 mins lasting a few seconds to about 30. fanny daggers BH I can cope with but back ache is another. bath isn't touching it and yeah not long took some :)

I'd love a pregnancy massage but they cost way too much round by me :(

vickyors · 13/01/2016 21:58

Sounds exciting tinyme hope this is it for you!

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 22:19

so do I haha. 3 days over and hate the pain xD

lilyb84 · 13/01/2016 22:27

sweets noted, will make a fuss if I need to - the second person I spoke to to try to get an appointment was lovely on the phone and trying really hard to find me a slot, but all the cancelled ones / those not needed as people had already given birth were way too early. One was perfect but disappeared from her screen as she was looking!

tiny no way I could afford a massage either, especially since my DH is currently unemployed, but it was my birthday at the beginning of the month and my colleagues got me a voucher which I'm super grateful for! If I don't fit it in before birth it'll be a nice treat afterwards Smile. Hope the back ache means things are happening for you.

tinyme135 · 13/01/2016 23:54

you'll have to tell me what it's like if you do go before the little one :)

gonna try and get some sleep if I can if I'm not in too much pain xD exciting time

tinyme135 · 14/01/2016 03:23

just an update...

I got off to sleep about half 12 ish, woke up about 40 mins ago with horrible backache and when I went to the toilet I had my green snotty show (tmi sorry) and my God was it a show.

just phoned hospital and she thinks it's just pain from my sweep till I told her it's been on and off in bad pain since about 10. she told me to wait for paracetamol to kick in, have a milky drink and get some rest. I would rest if I could but it hurts too much.
