Lily girl have you booked with that place..?? I know they closed down before but is that them up and running again..??

lilygirl81 · 01/12/2015 08:50

Salene yes, I've booked with them for 23rd December, fingers crossed they don't shut, but you do just pay at your scan so I'll not have lost money if they do at least.

Just getting ready to go for my scan, really nervous, and annoyed I need to rush away straight after it and not have some time with DH to digest what they find

FourForYouGlenCoco · 01/12/2015 09:07

Good luck for your scan lily! Really hope all goes well, at least it's early in the day so you don't have ages to wait! Let us know how you get on.

Salene · 01/12/2015 11:32

Lily let me know what you think, I've only used the other place, but like the idea of paying less if I can :-)

lilygirl81 · 01/12/2015 11:46

Well, I've had my scan. They found the sac easily abdominally, but couldn't get any detail so had to do an internal scan. They spent ages and just couldn't find a yolk sac and I was in tears, then all of a sudden they got it, and what they thought could be the start of the fetal pole. They couldn't see a heartbeat which is a bit worrying, but I booked back in for the 16th December when hopefully everything should show up. I'm a bit upset there was no heartbeat as I know people have found it at 5 weeks, and I am measuring 6, so not sure what to think.

The midwife did seem quite positive, said everything was looking good, regular shapes etc, so keeping everything crossed.

They did find a small cyst on my left ovary which they said is probably where the cramps are coming from, and no sign of any free fluid or bad signs.

BergamotMouse · 01/12/2015 12:24

I think if the midwife was positive then you should be too lilygirl. Though I know that it must be frustrating that you didn't get any certainty from the scan. I have my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure by the next scan all will show up clearly.

At least you have a normal explanation for the cramping. I've heard lots of people gets cysts on their ovaries during pregnancy.

Salene · 01/12/2015 12:31

Lily I was getting bad pains at right hand side last time went to ARI where they scanned me I was 5 weeks, the guy took ages looking and could find nothing, eventually got a senior consultant who found the sack and a very faint heart beat but also a cyst which grew to 8cm the disappeared as they kept a eye on it, it's where the egg is released I think they said and the body eventually reabsorbs it. It was pretty painful at time for me
It disappeared by my 12 week scans think and yes it's very common just most people don't get pain from them

But I did like you are.

smellsofelderberries · 01/12/2015 13:00

Lily, I wouldn't worry too much. 6 weeks is still really early to find a heartbeat and the fact that you have a yolk sac and everything is measuring normally is great!

Selene, I'm really surprised they were able to find a heartbeat for you at 5 weeks, are you sure that's

smellsofelderberries · 01/12/2015 13:11

Damn, sorry, hit post too soon! Yeah, 5 weeks is generally way too early to find much at all, let alone a heartbeat but great you had that reassurance.

Is anyone going to read any books? I though I might get one out of the library once we're through the first trimester and sure this little one is going to stick around, but the ones I've looked at so far have such wildly differing statistics and ideas about everything that it's just really stressful. One book says you're more likely to miscarry if you're not nauseous, the next book I picked up said every woman is different and symptoms (or lack thereof) give you any indication of whether the pregnancy is progressing normally! So since I'm not having many symptoms, and those I do have are mild so far, I'm going with the latter Grin I really really wish I had a time machine so I could jump forward 8 weeks and be through this horrible, stressful stage. Am I the only one who's really worried about a loss?

lilygirl81 · 01/12/2015 13:23

elderberries you are definitely not the only one worrying. I've got 'What to expect when you are expecting' which is quite good, although some is cringe worthy and the diet bit I actually found quite confusing. I've ordered another one, something like pregnancy day by day, as I do like to have something baby orientated to read

PickleBot · 01/12/2015 13:49

I'm worried about loss too. I have PCOS which makes it more likely that something will go wrong. It also meant it too 2 years to conceive this LO. I have an appointment with the gyno team to talk fertility treatment booked for Feb and I'm not planning to cancel it just yet!

Salene · 01/12/2015 14:03

Yeah I was 5 weeks 3 days and as I said the first doctor could find nothing it was only when they got the senior consultant in she found everything and a tiny flicker of a heart beat. it was internal scans they did. They did say at the time it was very early to find stuff

I new my exact conception daye as had bed using a tracker on my phone so the dates were spot on.

Salene · 01/12/2015 14:06

Sorry for spelling, my stupid phone changing words arrrgghhh

Lucybearbear · 01/12/2015 14:26

Hi smellsofelderberries I am the same as you on the books front, so many out there! I am doing a lot of online reading and following some blogs which have been really helpful and interesting.

I think it's natural for everyone to be worried at this early stage as everything seems so fragile. Try to stay as relaxed as you can and don't overthink things as stress isn't good for anyone. What's nice is we are all in the same boat and know exactly the feelings you are going through :)

Mrs1986 · 01/12/2015 15:43

Hello Ladies,
Can I join?
I got my BFP yesterday morning, am 4+3 and due on 6th August.

This is my 2nd pregnancy this year, had a missed miscarriage in August this year which was noticed at first scan, then ERPC.

It's so difficult to be happy and excited cause I'm so nervous about what might happen!!

I've booked myself an early scan for 17th December with a private company. At least I'll then know one way or another.

Xx

BergamotMouse · 01/12/2015 17:11

Welcome Mrs1986. Sorry to hear about your mmc. Fingers crossed for this time. I feel like I'm trying not to get too excited at this stage just in case. I've also booked a private scan for before Xmas (19th) so not too long to wait.

I got what to expect second hand from Amazon for about £3 inc delivery. I flick through it over breakfast but it's a big book so don't really know which bits to read first.

I saw that day by day one which I thought looked good but I'm already worried about people popping round and finding things that give the secret away. I might get it for Xmas. You'll have to let me know what it's like lilygirl.

Ihavetheorangehair · 01/12/2015 17:43

Lily, I'm sure everything will be fine. It's so easy to stress yourself out with worrying. When I was pregnant ds1 I had really bad cramps as well and went for a scan at around 5+4 and they couldn't see anything at all. They told me to come back in 10 days! The stress! I told my mum that I couldn't wait until I got to 12 weeks so I could stop worrying and she said "No, no darling, that's called being a mother, you'll never stop worrying!"

I have an app on my phone called Ovia pregnancy and it seems good. Tells you what size the baby is now. (A peppercorn). Also what i think is really handy, a calendar that has your weeks pregnant in the the corner of the date! Saves me counting on my fingers to see how far gone I'll be at any dates coming up!Smile

Lucybearbear · 01/12/2015 17:43

welcome Mrs1986 my fingers are crossed for you this time round, hope everything goes smoothly.

I keep getting mega 5pm sleepyness, anyone got any good tricks (other than caffeine) for an energy boost?! Feel like I could just sleep at my desk!! Or maybe I will just get one of these and give in to the Zzzz's www.ostrichpillow.com/

Lucybearbear · 01/12/2015 17:47

that app sounds great Ihavetheorangehair, going to download now!

PickleBot · 01/12/2015 17:57

I'm supposed to be cooking dinner, DS is hungry, DH is out. The smell of food is making me feel sick. Anyone else suffering from an upset tummy or have I picked up a bug? Either way it sucks!

Jw35 · 01/12/2015 20:01

Wow this thread has really taken off! Welcome all the newbies! Try not to worry Lily it's so early yet for a heartbeat.
I'm 5 weeks tomorrow. No nausea yet, hardly any symptoms except sore boobs, restless sleep and increased appetite. Also dry mouth and kind of craving something but not sure what! I think it's mints or something! Last pregnancy I craved extra strong mints but I'm trying not to think about it!

Hi ladies.

I've been lurking a few days. I'm 28, 1st pregnancy and my estimated due date is August 3rd - although not too sure about that as I've always had an erratic cycle. Took a few days to sink in that I'm actually pregnant as we only stopped taking precautions in September, so it seems we are rather efficient! No nausea but really sore boobs and a lot of bloat/gas. Keep getting light shooting pains and am constantly on edge something is wrong - particularly with the increased discharge but so far, so good. Have my appointment with my GP a week tomorrow then I'm hoping they will quickly refer me to midwife, as according to period maths I'll be 9 weeks on Christmas Eve. Glad to hear that a number of us don't have any sickness yet, although I must admit I'm half hoping for it so I can be reminded I'm pregnant as it doesn't seem real! Smile

Flybynight1 · 01/12/2015 21:00

Thanks for your suggestions lily and salene on the early scans! I booked through your link salene but the address is George street? Anyway that'll be December 23rd which should be just into my 7th week...! Exciting!

lily thanks for sharing your experience, sounds like things are progressing normally though? Did you say you are back for a 9 week scan?

My cramps are down a bit today, appetite is way low although not nauseous, just not mega hungry. Forced myself to have some decent tea for the sake of the bean! Hehe

Hi alduxbury!! I know I'm going to spell that wrong, sorry! Welcome and congratulations! Good luck with your appt tomorrow! I think you should be in with a midwife before Christmas then, if they're not mega busy Smile

MissClarke86 · 01/12/2015 21:01

Welcome Alduxbury Smile I've sent you a pm because I think we're in quite similr circumstances!

At the moment I've got the sneezes, and every time I sneeze my nipples hurt. Good times.

lilygirl81 · 01/12/2015 21:12

Welcome to all our newbies, glad to see us growing so fast.

Fly I am to go back for an 8 week scan when they will hopefully be a heartbeat. It seems the baby is sitting in an awkward place to scan, so hopefully once it's a it bigger it will show more easily.

Pickle I hope you're feeling a bit better, it's awful when the sickness comes like that.

Alduxbury I think those pains are normal, try not to worry (I'm one to talk!)
