Hi just got my bfp! I'm early, 3 days before AF was due so not sure if I'm the only one with an August due date?

My goodness I've missed so much!

Grace I hope you are ok

Miss I hope your scan goes well and everything is fine.

I had my repeat scan today, everything has grown and she said baby measuring 6+5. That's a week earlier than I date myself at, but she said at this stage scans can easily be a week out so not to worry. There was a strong heartbeat so I am starting to relax a bit.

My sickness is still terrible, and I have low blood pressure which is making me feel dizzy if I try to do too much, so spending almost all my time in bed. So glad I got signed off work, thanks to Christmas holidays, I'm actually not back until 5 January

How are you all doing today?

Good luck MissClarke, I think there are a few of us here who have the same apprehension. Let us know how you get on.

GlenCoco I had the same problem for a few days but I started taking my prenatals in the evening after dinner and it's helped immeasurably. I also take a fish oil tablet (I bought the packs of prenatals that comes with the fish oil) so that might have made a difference too.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 16/12/2015 11:16

lily that's brilliant news that your scan went so well! She initially dated me a week early too, was pure chance that she managed to get a better shot & more accurate measurement - there was 2mm between 6+2 and 7+2! Glad you're relaxing a bit and hopefully you feel better soon! You're really going through the mill.
elderberries good plan, I might adjust the time I take my vits - normally do it just before bed but I feel so much better today I think I'll switch! Morning sickness has been LOADS better this morning too so I suspect that's related as well. Can't wait to get through 1st tri so I can ease off on the prenatals!

Morwenna1 · 16/12/2015 11:18

Fingers crossed for you MissClarke!

Grace - if you're still reading this thread, we hope everything is ok, and are happy to talk about things....there is a lot of support on MN Flowers

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with, er toliet troubles!

Hello newbies!

I've just had my 1st docs appt, which was just filling in paperwork basically, no blood pressure taken, nothing. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but maybe a cursory prod around my stomach?! I wanted her to put my mind at rest, I had to ask twice if having no symptoms on a given day was normal (yesterday and today I've not 'felt' pregnant Confused) I had quite a few Qs, but she finished by saying 'it's nice to chat, but not when I am late with appointments and I have 4 people waiting'!!! Angry I know the NHS is under pressure, but I waited my fair time too!

I came away thinking to myself, right I'm going on Mumsnet where I know I can get answers!!!

Someone please reassure me that no/minimal symptoms = everything's ok...I'm finding analyzing my symptoms as bad and anxiety-inducing as symptom spotting in the tww! I got home, and did another pg test as it was early in the morning still for some sort of peace of mind. Line was strong, so that's good.

I'm hoping the midwife will be more reassuring....

PickleBot · 16/12/2015 11:24

I'm spending this morning sitting on my bum, watching one born every minute and thinking about eating peanut better.

Lily what a cute blob!

PickleBot · 16/12/2015 11:32

Morwenna the symptoms come and go, I had none at all in my first pregnancy. Hence not realising I was pg until I was over 20 weeks! You are pregnant now, that's all anyone can tell you. I'm sorry the doctor wasn't much cop, I'm sure the mw will be better I that regard. They seem to know women need to talk about it. To some extent you just need to decide to stop thinking about it. I know it's hard, but elevated stress levels aren't good, the chances are that everything will be fine, but even if it isn't stressing about what might happen won't change it.

Morwenna1 · 16/12/2015 11:46

Doctor also mentioned nothing about getting a flu jab! Angry Have now booked in to get one with the nurse tomorrow morning.

Morwenna1 · 16/12/2015 11:49

Thanks Pickle - this is all so new for me and when you've got nothing to compare to you just want to know what is 'normal'. I'm completely aware that I have no control over what may or may not happen, but I was less than impressed with the service I received today. Just needed to vent! Smile

SimileMilly · 16/12/2015 12:16

This thread is so fast moving!

So sorry to read your sad news grace Flowers

Thrilled for your positive scan lily.

I had my booking in appointment and flu jab yesterday. Feeling decidedly unpregnant today so nervously awaiting my early scan next Wednesday. I got my new company car yesterday and it's a lot smaller and more awkward to get into than I remembered so I have a feeling DP is going to have custody of it in a few months time Envy

MissClarke86 · 16/12/2015 12:39

Well I'm still none the wiser! They saw a small bleed which isn't concerning, and the sack and yolk but no baby. Dated at 6 weeks which is less than i thought. Another scan booked in 2 weeks...

What worries me is that I had the positive test on 20th Nov and if the 6 weeks is dated from last period (eg 2 weeks before egg released) meaning conception happened 4 weeks ago, that would mean I conceived 3 days before my pos test and the the test said 1-2 weeks! I'm probably wrapping myself up in dates but I can't see how it adds up and I'm worried the baby just hasn't developed :(

BunchOfBobs · 16/12/2015 12:59

I don't know if it's too early for the stupid hormones to kick in but my pack from my midwife just arrived in the post and I cried?!!!

lilygirl81 · 16/12/2015 13:01

Missclarke that sounds almost exactly like my scan 2 weeks ago, and my repeat scan today was great. At this stage, trying to date is so hard, 1mm can make a huge difference. They saw a yolk sac, that's a huge positive. My dates this scan would have had me conceiving at the point I was almost getting my BFP, so best not to worry about dates at this stage X

MissClarke86 · 16/12/2015 13:34

That's reassuring Lilly thanks. It's just so hard to imagine everything's okay, I'm a bit obsessive with dates and tracking! Crossing fingers for 2 weeks I guess!

Jw35 · 16/12/2015 14:50

Great scan lily that's fab! mowenna my symptoms only really started last few days and I'm 7 weeks now. Try not to worry! miss they can easily have the dates wrong at this stage, a yolk sac is great news! Just try to relax until you know properly. It must be hard but I bet everything is fine! Also don't forget 1-2 weeks on a pregnancy test just means newly pregnant or 3-4 weeks from last period. They're not exact!

Drank coke in a cafe this morning and was violently sick! No more coke for me! Can't eat sweet things at all. Everything is making me feel ill! Ugh!

That's me just booked in for my Harmony Test in January , had it done in 2014 with my son as well. I just found it very reassuring, is anyone else getting it/thinking about it.?

FourForYouGlenCoco · 16/12/2015 15:48

Salene I won't be getting the Harmony but have been considering the NT screening. I was planning to have it with the pg I MC in August but not sure now, I feel so lucky to be pregnant that I kinda feel like I'm happy with whatever I get! Didn't have it with DD but they had a look at her nuchal fold and said it looked fine...and I am pretty young still so very low risk on that front. It's hard to know what to do!

ToElleWithIt · 16/12/2015 16:33

Good luck with the scans ladies

salene I had it last time (2014) and I think I'll get it again. I wanted the reassurance. Must book in as I haven't actually done that yet.

Mrs1986 · 16/12/2015 16:41

Congratulations Lily
Missclarke will they scan you next week again?

Ladies - why is seeing a yolk sac a good sign? What does it mean if it's not there? xx

Christinedonna · 16/12/2015 16:46

I THINK (correct me if I'm wrong) but a yolk sac is where the baby is, if that's there obviously the possibility of a baby present is more likely than if it's not detected

Salene · 16/12/2015 16:58

I was gutted to see where I live it's gone up a lot £395 (2014) when I done it first time now it's £545.!

And bloods aren't sent to USA anymore there is now a lab in uk able to do screening so the hike seems unfair

Salene · 16/12/2015 17:12

Mrs1986 here is my scan from yesterday , 5w +3 days they put me down as, the big round thing is the sack, the small dot at bottom left is baby and it was flicking and that was the heart beat she told me

August 2016
FourForYouGlenCoco · 16/12/2015 17:14

Mrs1986 a yolk sac shows that the pregnancy is developing - if you had weekly(ish) scans from 4 weeks you'd see a thickening of uterine lining, then a gestational sac, then gest sac and yolk sac, then sacs and fetal pole, then finally a heartbeat and a developing fetus. You'll probably go back and find you can see a fetal pole and maybe a heartbeat depending on time frames. A lot depends on the skill of the sonographer, and tbh at these early stages it's a fair bit of luck as well - when I had my scan I had both fists under my bum, doing all sorts of strange positions so she could get a decent view! If baby is hiding or tucked in somewhere awkward to find you won't see much til a bit further on.

Salene · 16/12/2015 17:14

FourForYouGlenCoco · 16/12/2015 17:17

The yolk sac sustains the baby in early pregnancy (like the yolk of an egg!). If it's not there it either means the pregnancy is too early and it's just too small too see/not formed yet, or that something has gone wrong at formation stage and the pregnancy is likely to be unviable.

Salene · 16/12/2015 17:22

Yeah the yoke sac feeds the baby until the placenta is developed
