Hi all

Hope you don't mind a newcomer jumping on board? It's taken me a couple of days to scan through the thread but think I am roughly caught up.

I'm 5+4 and due on 12 August. Feeling very apprehensive and still in a bit of shock as DH and I only got married in September and we conceived on the first cycle we tried! We are both finding it hard to manage our expectations as its still such early days and feel like we should protect ourselves in case the worst happens, but then at the same time it feels wrong not to let ourselves get excited! So confusing...
Had my work Christmas do today, gave an excuse but it was so obvious to everyone cos I was the only one not drinking. When I turned down a glass of champagne my boss got a terrified look on his face! (I work for a small company and will be the first woman to take maternity leave)
Didn't help that my nausea kicked in this morning and was nearly sick on the train into work!

Grace - I hope you are ok, sending you hugs xx

peamad · 15/12/2015 20:27

PS is anyone else finding it so hard keeping a secret?? I hate it! Have only told my best friend so far, but dying to talk about it to other people. Think we will tell close family on Christmas Day, what is everyone else doing?

ForTheLoveOfSocks · 15/12/2015 20:35

I'm sorry to hear that Grace Flowers. And Flowers to everyone else who is worried.

guest2013 · 15/12/2015 20:46

Peamad, Congratulations! I feel the same as you with regards to expectations.. It's very confusing. I feel quite anxious about everything and it seems like reassurance (I.e. a scan) is so far off!
But I think chatting here and reading peoples posts is so good. Nice to know there's others feeling the same as you.
I can't keep a secret, most people in my world know and I only found out yesterday! I'd want their support if anything happened so that was the best thing to do for me.

Hello to everyone else.

Flowers for grace

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 15/12/2015 20:51

I am also struggling with the secret. I'm a teacher and inevitably we talk/think quite a lot in whole terms and every time somebody says something about summer term or next year I nearly chip in with something about how I can't do that and then have to bite my tongue. Also had to lie to kids today to get them to do an experiment in a different room. Can't wait until it's safe to share.

grace thinking of you. I hope you are ok.

peamad · 15/12/2015 21:03

Thanks guest and alfie. I know what you mean, at my work we are already planning for the end of next year and ive so nearly blurted out that I won't be there! Worst part is my mum doesn't know yet. we usually tell each other everything but DH and I decided it would be nice to tell the family all together on xmas day. But then she came over yesterday and told me about all the holidays she is planning for next year. Inside I'm screaming 'don't go away after july'!!!

Colabottle10 · 15/12/2015 21:52

Hi everyone, brand new here and found out I was pregnant on Dec 13th. Officially 2 weeks pg, but LMP date is 17th Nov, which gives a due date of 25th August, the day after our wedding anniversary!

First timer, I'm old, will be 37 when baby arrives. Though trying not to get too excited as I know it can all go wrong.

But surprised as we'd only been trying for 2 months.

Went to see GP this morning. No test done. Was told to pick up a maternity pack at reception but they didn't have any. I've no idea what happens next or if the midwife contacts me or when, if I've not heard anything in a week or so I'll chase them up.

So. Am pretty laid back about it all. No symptoms at all!

OwlinaTree · 15/12/2015 22:02

Congrats colabottle.

SeriousStuff · 16/12/2015 02:05

Oh Grace, I'm so sorry. Are you ok?

MissClarke86 · 16/12/2015 07:16

I'm off for an early scan today...been spotting for nearly 2 weeks. I'm scared Sad

PourMeSomethingStronger · 16/12/2015 07:40

Good luck missclarke. Hope it goes well for you today.

Ds1 is in reception so we're off to see his first school nativity play. He has the part of cow 3! In the preschool nativity last year he cried.

BunchOfBobs · 16/12/2015 07:47

Thanks for grace

MrsSanta* we're off to Longleate. We go every year, love it. Although this year I can't do any of the fun stuff as will only be 9 weeks so no spa, slides or Rapids.

I have woken up so sneezy with such a stuffy nose. Anyone know what I can take to help it?

OwlinaTree · 16/12/2015 07:52

missc hope it all goes OK today.

Jw35 · 16/12/2015 08:03

Good luck Miss. Congrats to the new Bfp's! I'm 36 and will be 37 a couple of months after the baby is born. I don't think anything will go wrong. I had a healthy baby last year at 35! We an do this! Smile

7 weeks today! Wooohoo! Smile

Mrs1986 · 16/12/2015 09:01

MissClarke let us know how it goes! How far along are you?

Mine is tomorrow and I am dreading it. The only time I've ever been for scans it is bad news, so I can't even imagine what it would be like to have good news!!!

Mrs1986 · 16/12/2015 09:02

Sorry, that sounded horribly negative!! I look forward to knowing one way or the other! Xx

FourForYouGlenCoco · 16/12/2015 09:08

Welcome mrspea and cola and congratulations!
Hope all goes ok missclarke, will be thinking of you. I've had lots of spotting this pregnancy and all was ok as of Monday!
My exciting and tmi news is that I finally managed to 'go' this morning and now feel much less uncomfortable. Left prenatals at home so haven't had them yesterday or today which could be a contributing factor?!

Christinedonna · 16/12/2015 09:40

Good luck miss Clarke. Is anyone else SO DONE with feeling sick?!
