Hi just got my bfp! I'm early, 3 days before AF was due so not sure if I'm the only one with an August due date?

I'm due August 3rd Smile

I think I may have just got my bfp. However, at 9dpo, its more of a little faint positive...

If it's real (please be real!) I should have a due date of around 23rd August!

I think I'm going to be peeing on a lot of sticks for the next few days.

Christinedonna · 10/12/2015 11:54

Just got out from the hospital. She couldn't see anything. My cervix has thickened which is apparently a good sign, my right ovary looked normal but she couldn't see my let one so she can't rule out ectopic. Done a blood test today, will do another in 48 hours and another scan next week depending on the result. She said it could either be too early (when I tested on the first of December the test said 1-2 weeks), ectopic or I've lost it. I've had no bleeding so I don't think I could have lost it? They and OH are trying to convince me and keep me up beat that it's just a bit too early. Please someone say something to make me feel better

Somnambulator · 10/12/2015 12:09

christine it may indeed be too early to see anything. Thickening is a good sign and am I right that you have missed a period? That alongside positive pregnancy tests are all good signs that you are pregnant. I had a scan really early due to an ectopic scare around the end of the 4 week mark and they only saw some thickening and a tiny tiny empty sac (with lots of poking around), no yolk and no embryo. It terrified me. I think that is why so many early scans leave women more scared than reassured! Had my scan this am and there is a little blob with a heartbeat, so don't lose hope yet.

Salene · 10/12/2015 12:15

Yeah I agree , early scans are just a worry. I'm just waiting till my 12 weeks scan you get as part of antenatal care, and until then just putting pregnancy to the back of my mind. Although been feeling sick all night and all today so looks like that's the start of my morning sickness , I got it quite bad before

Going to be a nightmare this time as have my 14 month old to deal with as well as work

Husband is away till mid January too.

smellsofelderberries · 10/12/2015 12:17

Christine, do you have any idea aprox how far along you are? Was the ultrasound internal or external?

PourMeSomethingStronger · 10/12/2015 12:22

Big hugs Christine That sounds really tough. I can imagine you're feeling down, but do try to focus on the positives. Somnabulator and Salene are right. Early scans aren't always reassuring. My friend had a very similar situation to you, worried sick and it all turned into a healthy baby boy in the end.

smellsofelderberries · 10/12/2015 12:23

Somnambulator, so glad to hear your scan went well! Must have been such a relief Smile

Christinedonna · 10/12/2015 13:03

The first day of my last period was the 28th of October so going by that that puts me at 6weeks and 1 day. I done 3 tests all positive and the digital saying 1-2 weeks on the 1/12/15. Just a waiting game I suppose

lilygirl81 · 10/12/2015 13:06

Christine I'm sure it is just too early, the blood tests will give you fairly clear answers.

I'm not sure what to do, I called the EPU and explained how I'm feeling, but they refused to bring my scan forward to today. I seem to have got myself really worked up, and found that the more expensive private scanning place do the early scan from 7 weeks, I'm 7 weeks today by my dates. It's £100, and I just don't know what to do

Christinedonna · 10/12/2015 13:08

I'm just so down😔

Eminado · 10/12/2015 13:21

Hi - can I join? I am due 15 August 2015. Had a MMC 6 months ago so am feeling very happy but very scared.

smellsofelderberries · 10/12/2015 14:04

lily how come you're so worried and want the scan earlier? How far along are you and when are you due to have the scan? I know how you feel, I'm so tempted to go back to the EPU because I've had a tiny bit more light brown discharge, but I know that by the time I'm due my second scan next Friday I'll be that much further along, so it will be much easier to see things. Every day you wait, the more your baby develops and the more likely they are to see a yolk sac/heartbeat etc. I know the waiting is hard but that's all we can really do for now.

ToElleWithIt · 10/12/2015 14:17

I suspect you are not as far along as you think you are Christine Do you have a long cycle / could you have ovulated late? If so then that would totally explain it and just a little more time needed. The HcG readings should help. Try to stay positive. Thinking of you.

Having done it before I wouldn't recommend 5/6 week scans. Too much uncertainty. We couldn't see a heartbeat etc, completely freaked out, back a week later etc. (all turned out fine). The one around 8 weeks was more reassuring.

lilygirl81 · 10/12/2015 14:59

elderberries I had very odd pains last night, felt almost like tearing, but I honestly can't explain why I feel so panicked. Hopefully it's just hormones going crazy.

Christinedonna · 10/12/2015 15:19

Just got a phone call about my blood test earlier it she said its "2445" that means nothing to me but she said it means I'm definitely pregnant and could be between 2-4 weeks. If it's doubled by Saturday I have an ongoing pregnancy

smellsofelderberries · 10/12/2015 15:21

Oh lily I understand completely. It's so hard to just take it as it comes. How far along are you? Are you at work? For what it's worth, cramping is completely normal. A girlfriend who had a miscarriage said she had cramping early on, but when the miscarriage started she just knew because the pain was so bad. If it's uncomfortable then try not to worry Smile

smellsofelderberries · 10/12/2015 15:26

Sorry, that should say if you're just feeling a bit uncomfortable as opposed to in pain then that's normal Smile

lilygirl81 · 10/12/2015 15:33

christine this link might help, though it is the rate of increasing which is the most important during the first few weeks. Fingers crossed for your next result. I actually wish they would offer this to me, but no one has suggested it.

By my calculations I'm 7 weeks today (midwife put me at 7+2). I thinks it's all partly because my scan at 5+5 by my dates (6 by theirs) was so unclear, with it taking ages to find the yolk sac and not being able to see any real development, other than the gestational sac measuring correctly. I've only once got this far along, and that was so long ago I can barely remember how it felt, though I do remember that the mc was completely unexpected and sudden, so very different.

I'm sorry there is so much worry on this board at the moment, newbies please don't get worried by it, I think for some reason this week has been tough for a lot of us.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 10/12/2015 16:51

Christine I agree that you might just be too early. Say you ovulated late and got a bfp at 9dpo (totally possible), today you'd only be 18dpo, so only between 4-5 weeks, and you wouldn't expect to see anything yet! It could be that you have a retroverted uterus or something similar that's making it more difficult to see too, why couldn't she find your left ovary?! Tbh it sounds like maybe the sonographer wasn't great either! All things that make a difference, and your hcg level is nice and high - lots of good signs there. Am sure all will be fine.
I agree that early scans can be a bit of a mixed blessing. I have one on Monday but I'll be 7+3 by then and I'm absolutely sure of my dates so it will either be good or bad news, nothing in between.
lily was it round ligament pain you had? I had it briefly the other day when I sneezed, was really painful! Like a stitch down the whole side of my pelvis. It sounds like your last scan was pretty much bang on for your dates so just go by that.
I'm finding that the best way of getting through it for me is to try and forget - am taking my vits etc religiously but otherwise I just distract myself and pretend I'm not pregnant. It also helps guard against disappointment I think. Have lots of Christmas prep & shopping to do so focusing on that!
Welcome to newbies and I agree, don't get freaked out, think we on this thread have just had some very unlucky previous experiences and it's coming out on here where it's safe to vent!

Christinedonna · 10/12/2015 17:23

She said my left ovary was higher so she couldn't see it. That did baffle me a bit. How high can it be?! But yeah I'm a lot more confident about it now than I was earlier. Just out for dinner now and it'll be the first thing I've eaten all day. I had to go to bed and cry

GemmaFitz92 · 10/12/2015 17:52

Hi girls!
So thought I'd ask some advice..
Basically I got told I had PCOS in July after only having 2 periods since I had my little girl Nov 2014, so when we started trying again for #2 I wasn't hopeful! But I took daily ovulation tests to see if I ovulated at all.. This month got an amazing test result so BD for like a full week haha.. Then continued to take the ovulation tests... they went faint then started to pick up again which is why I tested and finally got a BFP.. Only thing is the little strip tests I have that I've been doing for last 4 days don't seem to be getting any darker :( should I be worried? I got really good result on clear blue? I'll attach pics xx

smellsofelderberries · 10/12/2015 18:02

That CB looks pretty positive to me! Don't worry too much about the cheapie not getting any darker- a line is a line. What was the date you had a +OPK?

PickleBot · 10/12/2015 18:07

I know this sounds unfeeling, but the reason most women don't have a scan earlier than 12 weeks is because 12 weeks is the earliest you can actually reliably scan the baby. At the moment these babies are somewhere between a poppy seed and a lentil and wombs are not very still things. It's a tricky job finding an early pregnancy. As for finding overies, they can be tricky too, one of mine is really mobile and because I'm over weight it's not easy to hold it still from the outside, and that was when I wasn't pg. in all likelihood everything will be fine, but if it isn't it is worth remembering that the vast majority of miscarriages are due to chromosome abnormalities. It's sad, but if the pregnancy went to term the baby wouldn't survive anyway. It sounds strange, but I find that comforting in a way.

Jw35 · 10/12/2015 18:53

christine hope everything's ok and it's just too early. I'm the same as you, my Lmp was 28/10 and I'm 6 weeks 1 day too.

Sickness off and on but not too bad, heavy boobs, bloated and the odd pinching pain but that's it for me. I really want the next few weeks to pass!
