Hi just got my bfp! I'm early, 3 days before AF was due so not sure if I'm the only one with an August due date?

I'm due August 3rd Smile

Preach, GlenCoco! I had to make some noise to go for a home birth with DS because of that same "not allowed" bollocks. It made me SO MAD when they tried to prevent me making an informed decision based on evidence. They infantilise women, it's ridiculous. You can't do that nonsense to patients in other areas of healthcare.

Anywho, the midwife who came out to us was actually doing her first home birth & was a bit nervous about me being a first time mum (& probably all the bollocking faffery in my notes about me "high risk" earlier on - which I was NOT). Anyway, we got transferred in because of baby heart rate concerns, & me being too tired to make a fuss at that stage, but all was fine after a bit of monitoring & I could have gone back home, but no way was I having another car journey without an actual baby. So DS was born in the hospital pool in the end, but the staff in hospital were brilliant & totally respectful of our wishes & I felt like I got a home birth away from home in the end. I could have married my midwife! And I also loved the whole giving birth process & felt powerful & amazing for a good few weeks after. Probably why I'm doing it again so soon! Blush

I'm tempted to go for another home birh, but I know DH won't be keen. We'll see how those negotiations go over the next few months!

I hope your hospital consultation is helpful, Pickle. Sounds like you had quite a time of it last time!

rumisyum · 09/12/2015 16:37

Probably not, Christine. I had lots of that sort of thing in my first pregnancy. With all the changes happening in the cervix & whatnot, it's not uncommon. So anxiety provoking, though!

Alfie I've my booking in appt the same day! I'll be 7+1. Smile

Christinedonna · 09/12/2015 16:45

I've had none since. Starting to think I imagined it. Or as the girls in my house like to wipe the makeup off their brushes onto toilet paper that's still attached maybe that's what I got😂

PickleBot · 09/12/2015 17:20

alfie and rum mine is on 23rd as well! We'll have to compare notes after. I'll be bang on 8w I think.

Christine if it was only a tiny dark brown bit then I don't think it's anything to worry about.

PickleBot · 09/12/2015 17:23

I know it's early, but I can't help it; anyone else started thinking about names? I have an ongoing list of names I come across that I like.

Christinedonna · 09/12/2015 17:26

I haven't stopped thinking about names! We're already convinced it's a boy

BunchOfBobs · 09/12/2015 17:33

I'm thinking I may get myself to the GP if these cramps carry on. I'm going insane with worry and running to the loo so could do with an official "it's all okay". We've picked a name for a boy and a girl and we plan to find out the sex. Anyone else going to find out?

FourForYouGlenCoco · 09/12/2015 18:01

rum glad you had a good experience in the end even if not quite to plan, I do love a good birth story!
christine I had a fair bit of spotting with DD and all was well, the only reason it's freaked me out this time is that I already have a history of MCs. I'd say you're fine!
Bobs I would go and see GP and let them know how you're feeling. Mine today was so incredibly lovely and understanding and it was just so nice having someone say it's okay to feel that way! And to do something practical to help (ie referral to EPU for me). The worst your doc can say is no, it's worth an ask!
I've not thought about names yet but obviously we were just beginning to discuss them last time...couldn't agree on anything though! Ah well, 7/8 months still to decide, DD's name wasn't definite til she was born.
I want to keep it a surprise this time but I am terrible at delayed gratification so we shall see! Couldn't even wait til 20 weeks with DD and went private at 16 weeks but I really want to keep it secret this time round so will try and hold out! I loved knowing with her though, especially as I was so thoroughly convinced she was a boy I needed time to get used to the fact that she wasn't after all! At least I know not to trust my intuition this time Grin

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 09/12/2015 18:28

rum and pickle how exciting! We can definetly compare notes then. I am trying to keep a lid on my excitement just incase but it's so hard!

Morwenna1 · 09/12/2015 18:31

Hi all, I've been trying to catch up and read through most of the posts Smile. Got my BFP yesterday, and done a couple more tests for good measure!
32, DC#1, and 4+1! Excited, nervous, worried all rolled into one.

Hi Bunch (I can call you Bobs no problem!), and Mouse

smellsofelderberries · 09/12/2015 18:39

Love hearing all your previous birth experiences ladies! In awe of all of you who had home births too- actually just in awe of all of you Grin

Christine, try not to worry too much. I've had a tiny bit of light brown discharge too and had it over the course of a few mornings. I ended up calling my local midwife unit and they said that unless there was fresh, red blood or I had severe cramping then it was nothing to worry about. There is so much extra blood flow down there right now that a little bit of brown is nothing to worry about.

I got my midwife intake appointment through today! Happening next week. I suspect they think I'm a week further on than I actually am because I ovulate late- not complaining if it means I have my appointments sooner Grin

Have you all told your families? I told my Mum (before my husband!) but decided to hold off on telling my sisters and brother. I sent off their christmas gifts today- mugs that say 'favourite aunt' and 'favourite uncle' and the cards say they're 'from Elderberries, DH (and Bump!)' I can't wait to see their reactions! It's a bit cheesy but I'm so excited about it.

Also, my nausea is back- yay!

PickleBot · 09/12/2015 18:42

Hi Morwenna! And Welcome!

I'm feeling proud of myself, I just cooked dinner for the first time in a week, it had green veg and everything! I've been feeling really tired and ill in the evenings, but today DS has been home poorly from school so I've been pinned to the sofa watching back to back David Attenborough programmes. Obviously confinement like the Victorians did is the answer after all!

Christinedonna · 09/12/2015 18:54

Thank you ladies I've had nothing since so I think I'm fine. Last week dragged but this weeks seems to be going so quick, is it just me? Time flying is amazing right now. When I'm further along and can relax then il want to enjoy every moment but right now I just want to hibernate for 6 weeks. My scan tomorrow should help if everything goes okay. (I worry too much). I was thinking about interesting ways to tell people but tbh I've told more people than I planned anyway as I have the need to blurt it out, that'll probably be how everyone finds out!

rumisyum · 09/12/2015 19:37

Oh lord, names. We used the one boy name that we both liked & agreed on last time, so fingers crossed it's a girl this time! We still have our shortlist of girl names & we'll probably wait till the birth to find out again. I cannot trust my intuition though - last time I swore blind I was having a girl.

I've told my mum & a few close friends. I'm so excited this time I want to tell everyone, I really have to try to restrain myself!

Elderberries that sounds really cute. I bet they'll be thrilled!

PourMeSomethingStronger · 09/12/2015 21:21

Bobs do go to the GP if you're worried. I'm sure they'd rather talk you through it and put your mind at rest than have you worrying at home.

Love your idea of sending mugs elderberries. We're going to tell our parents on Christmas day as we'll all be together, and I think they would notice if I didn't have a few sherries! We've managed to get both sets of parents together to tell them all at once for the other 2, so it feels like a bit of a tradition now. Only DH and my 2 best friends know at the moment but that's the way I like it really. There's something special about keeping this baby to myself for a little while. I think our parents will be genuinely surprised this time too as I've started selling all the baby things.

Hope your scan goes well tomorrow Christinedonna

Hi Morwenna, glad to see more people joining the club!

Don't get me started on names rumisyum! Like you, we used our only boy name for DS1, so poor DS2 came along and had to wait a week after he was born to be given a name! If this poor child is a boy he will probably be nameless for a month! If it's a girl she'll be named after my grandmother, so that's easy.

Does anybody know if you've had 2 children of the same sex, is your 3rd more likely to be that sex too? I think this one is a boy already, but may need to find out at a scan this time (didn't with the others).

BunchOfBobs · 09/12/2015 21:41

Thanks glenCoco and pour. I'll definitely make that appointment. I'm going away for the next 5 days so I'll sort it when home. Ive packed some hpts to keep myself sane whilst away. It's a very exciting trip coming up its my birthday so myself, DH, my parents and PIL are all off to Paris. As they will definitely notice me not drinking we're going to do the big announcement whilst there. I'm very excited!!

Glad to see you found you're way here Mor. And I respond to both Bunch and Bobs Wink

SimileMilly · 09/12/2015 22:07

We've told my best friend and DP's dad. Today I told my boss - spewed at work and had to justify I wasn't hungover, the shame(!), he's a good friend though and genuinely thrilled for us - and I told my mum tonight as I just can't lie at all. It still doesn't seem real.

We've had a bit of a hypothetical chat about names. I have a few firm favs. I think we'll find out as having DD will make it easier to plan. Also, thinking really ahead we only have a two bed house so want to make a decision on whether to sell in the next couple of years, which we'll probably do anyway as already outgrowing it!

GemmaFitz92 · 09/12/2015 23:19

Hello :D

Could I join in with you amazing ladies?

Thank you! This will be 2nd baby! Got a 13mth old DD Grin

How is everyone doing? X

BergamotMouse · 10/12/2015 07:38

Congratulations morwenna. It's funny that none of us in that group were planning on TTC until December but here three of us are! Really pleased for you.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 10/12/2015 08:51

Congrats and welcome morwenna and Gemma!
Good luck with your scan today Christine and I know there's someone else having one too but can't remember who..but good luck to you too!! Post a pic afterwards!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 10/12/2015 08:52

Just scrolled back, somnambulator good luck to you Grin

lilygirl81 · 10/12/2015 09:44

Welcome to all our newbies and congratulations.

I'm starting to feel a bit more normal, still can't face any real food but managing tangerines and strawberry milkshakes.

I'm meant to be going away for the weekend to visit family. Part of me still wants to go but then I'm worried I'll feel rubbish while in there so just not sure. I'm also, for some reason, utterly paranoid that the baby has stopped growing. I have no rationale for this, my boobs hurt and have doubled in size this week,my nausea is so bad I can't eat, and I have no spotting or anything like that. I still can't shift the fear. Do you think if I called the EPU and explained they might move my scan forward? I'm due to go on Wednesday, just over 2 weeks from my last scan.

ToElleWithIt · 10/12/2015 09:59

Welcome everyone.

Good luck today somnambulator

Booked into the hospital. First appointment is end of Jan. May go for a private early scan in between now and then.

I've only told my sister. I'd really like to wait until 12 weeks before telling everyone else, just because time drags..., but we're staying with my parents over Christmas and I'm not sure that I'll get away with just waving a glass of champagne around for 5 days!

We had a preliminary chat about names. Like the others here we used the only boys name that I loved so it's hard to think of another. I can think of lots of lovely girls names though.
