My 12 week scan has been booked for when I will only be 11+3 as they went by my last period date rather than dating on my early scan/when I know I ovulated, does anyone know if we are likely to see a lot less/if it will be less reliable? I could potentially change it but am so desperate to have it I wasn't it as soon as possible!

Also sorry if I'm being stupid but for some reason I had it in my head that there is a scan at 16 weeks when you can find out the sex, but it seems that actually there's nothing else till 20 weeks?

Rose2806 · 20/11/2015 15:41
  • I want it as soon as possible
Belvedere · 20/11/2015 15:57

You should be fine at 11+3 rose. How exciting!!
And yes next scan is at 20 weeks but you can book a private gender scan from 16 weeks which is maybe why you got confused?

Potkettleblack2 · 20/11/2015 16:03

Rose that's one of the reasons I changed mine-I was supposed to be 11+3 once I'd adjusted for early scan. My reason for changing was that with DC1 I ended up having to have another scan a week later as they couldn't do all of the tests I wanted so early. I can't afford to take all that time off again.
Having said that-I think 11+3 is just on the cusp so you might be OK. And also-early scans are not always 100% accurate so you might actually be revised forward a bit!
But today (on the day I was supposed to have 12 week scan) I feeling annoyed with myself for changing it!!

PrincessPunzie · 20/11/2015 16:34

Ooh, new thread! mrslewis as someone else has said, lots of us have had a bit of blood at one time or another so try not to worry. Fingers crossed for you.

No sex at the Punzie house either! I had some spotting in week six - it wasn't caused by that but the idea it could be brought on again has put me off. Plus nothing could be further from my mind at the moment.

Apparently (at 11+2) my baby is the size of a Brussels sprout or profiterole (or even a lime, depending on which website you look at!) I keep thinking that if it's around 4cm long I ought to be able to see some evidence of it by now, but my tummy is still flat (except on the occasions when it gets bloated). Smaller ladies, when did you start to show with your first?

BabySocks · 20/11/2015 16:42

No sex here either :)
mrslewis hope you can get some resolution and try not to worry.

I was booked in yesterday and scan booked for 4th Dec when I will be 13+1, 2 more weeks boo!! I persuaded the midwife to try and listen for the heartbeat at the booking in and she couldn't find it ( didn't check for very long, I think she was nervous about saying yes) so now I obviously wish I hadn't, phoned the fertility clinic and they said not too worry as it is so early which I know is true but aargh!!!!

Sorry I haven't said much otherwise, I read along everyday but never have much to say x

GuessHowMuchILoveGin · 20/11/2015 17:12

Rose, they'll still see plently and be able to confirm your dates. Baby has to be a certain size if you are having the nuchal thickness Downs screening. So if needed they'll just bring you back the following week to do that.

Punzie I'm definitely measuring mine as a lime, not a sprout.

JellyBaby26 · 20/11/2015 17:17

My last June bus our delivery dates went from April to July so those with May dates needn't feel like imposters Grin

bikingintherain · 20/11/2015 17:37

Phew! Finally found you. I was beginning to worry, I hadn't realised the thread had locked and just thought everyone was being unusually quiet.

Right now I've marked my place I'll catch up on the thread.

bikingintherain · 20/11/2015 18:03

We had sex earier in the pregnancy as I knew when ms hit it would be out the window until at least 15 weeks. But honestly I don't think we ever had much in the previous ones. There's a point when you can feel baby moving and for me it just feels a bit odd.

Princess with DC1 I started showing a bit by 16 weeks, definitely pregnant looking by 20. This time I'm 11+3 and have had to ditch non maternity clothes, particularly trousers. But I think by DC3 all the muscles in my stomach know what to do are ruined already

Betty79 · 20/11/2015 18:07

Another one here in the no sex club, think dp is a little frustrated but seems ok about it. I don't feel like it at all and with some spotting earlier on don't want to risk anything.

So glad it's the weekend, had a really busy week at work, getting very tired mid afternoon at the moment too, and am craving chocolate but am trying to be good. I went off sweet things completely till week 9 but am eating most things again now.

PrincessPunzie · 20/11/2015 18:16

Thanks very much for that biking - I've heard of 16 weeks as a bump milestone before, but the pre-scan-nervy part of me keeps thinking "If it's the size of a lime, where the heck is it?!" I'll be 16 weeks by Christmas - I always buy myself a new dress to wear on Christmas Day but suspect I'll struggle a bit this year, I've been looking at everything from my usual size to full on maternity! I think it will have to be a "last posting day" online purchase. I expect my body will be in the looking-like-I've-let-myself-go-rather-than-looking-pregnant stage by then just to be awkward!

bikingintherain · 20/11/2015 18:21

princess I just got today my order from Mothercare. It includes a full length grey jersey dress which is so comfy and even though I don't fill it, the way the folds on it mean it doesn't look silly. And it's definitely one that can be dressed up or down. I reckon with a bit of shopping around you'll find something.

Rose2806 · 20/11/2015 18:25

Thanks for the scan info everyone :-) I'll see if I can make it a few days later, otherwise will stick with the one I've got. DH is worried about having too many scans as I've already had 3 in case it damages the baby, looking at the nhs website it only really seems to apply to having lots of the 3d or 4d scans for non diagnostic reasons, so I'm not as worried about that.

I've bought myself some "jumper dresses" which fit me now but are also nice and stretchy for when a bump appears!

PrincessPunzie · 20/11/2015 18:27

Thanks biking I will check out Mothercare Smile ASOS have some beautiful maternity party dresses but I have visions of not filling one and having a load of flapping material round my waist, haha! Still, I suppose if that happens it could be brought out for Valentine's Day instead...

MollieRos · 20/11/2015 18:38

I'm 11+6 and I haven't been able to fit into my jeans for a couple of weeks now, I've just been in dresses with tights/leggings. I'm pretty skinny so usually have a flat belly, but I have a definite tummy on me already. I have my scan next week so I'm hoping to hold out till then before people at work start suspecting. It's just bloat though I think!

We've had sex about 3 times since we found out. Tiredness and nausea just doesn't make me feel very in the mood.

Laughing the last couple of days I've felt a really strange sensation, like a tiny bubble. Google reckons early movement will feel like bubble, but it wouldn't be this early, so it must be gas, but I've never felt anything like it either!

emma85x · 20/11/2015 18:52

I never would but I'm tempted to show DH this thread and say 'see it's not just me, other pregnant ladies don't want sex either. Ha!' Don't feel so guilty now! Grin Right, pj's on and assume position on the sofa.. Sexy!! I'm looking so irresistible right now, no make up, permanently in pj's and thick socks!

I still can't eat in the evenings, there's something about the evenings that puts me completely off food as I feel so so bloated and uncomfortable!!

mrslewis2015 · 20/11/2015 19:08

Thanks everyone for your support, I called the EPU again and they said they don't think it sounds bad but come in for a scan next week just to make me feel better, hopefully it will all stop soon.

Also so glad to hear that other people are in the 'no sex' party... Think it might be a while again until we do again..poor DH, he's so understanding tho!

So exciting to hear about lots of 12 weeks scans for people, can't wait to see them! And bumps too! I have a huge tummy, but have ongoing bloating from IBS so doubt much is from baby!

Rose2806 · 20/11/2015 19:26

Emma I'm the same in the evenings, DH is coming me steak and chips at the moment which I really fancy so hoping I can eat it (well done of course and without a glass of red wine so won't be quite the same :-( )

Glad you have got some reassurance Mrslewis x

Rose2806 · 20/11/2015 19:27

*cooking!

iamdivergent · 20/11/2015 19:32

parks bum

MollieRos · 20/11/2015 21:29

We had a slight meltdown earlier in the Mollie household when I asked for scrambled egg on toast for tea, with some bacon on the side (really sore stomach today and didn't really fancy anything else). DH cooked it, except he only cooked 2 pieces of bacon for him and 1 for me. What?! I got slightly high-pitched as I made my outrage clear. I may have even played the "but I'm pregnant!" card as I stroppily chopped the bacon in half to split it evenly. I mean seriously, just 3 bits of bacon between 2 people?! And breathe... Smile

Inwaiting · 20/11/2015 21:30

girls i really struggle to keep up. is there a Facebook group? I can set one up if its easier

MollieRos · 20/11/2015 21:30

Oh and mrslewis good that you can get a scan next week, fingers crossed it soon stops.

BiffleRoo · 21/11/2015 07:31

Sorry I've been awol, can't catch up there's been so many posts! Finally managed to get DH to talk about what's going on. It's not solved by a long chalk but he is at least trying to put his toys back in the pram.
