Sorting baby clothes for washing. I have to pack my hospital bag tom as we are going to my uncles for Christmas Day and boxing day so want to have it just incase. Braxton Hicks have stepped up alot to suddenly got pannicked that I was not ready.

Actually quite scared now as all the clothes seem soooo small!

Also got some bargins from the mothercare sale, would def recomend it!

BTW Lizz, I used pampers for my DS and they were fine. Also tried all the other brands and found that the only ones I would not buy are Asda's own brand as they leak the gel really badly. Tescos were good too but I found that Pampers were the most reliable and the most expencive! Think you just have to find the ones that suit you. My SIL's son and my friends all liked different brands. They all leaked my DS's explosive poo too 2happy! Forgot about all the changes and washing

Just popped on to say hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and nobody spends Christmas day in labour

RGee · 24/12/2006 11:44

Happy Christmas to you all!

laughalot · 24/12/2006 12:57

HO HO HO merry christmas any babies yet ?

saltcod · 24/12/2006 16:46

Merry Christmas for tomorrow, everyone!

No patter of tiny feet here yet, but that's been by choice - been in & out of hospital over the past couple of weeks & they have tried to persuade me to be induced on 3 separate occasions.... BP staying just low enough to be able to turn them down (I DON'T want an "early" Xmas Baby!!)... had bad experience with DD1 & induction

Anyway, bubs is doing fine & will be delivered next week - booked in on boxing day, then induction scheduled for Weds morning (i.e. the latest they'd let me go on for) . Oh boy...... not long now!

Hope everyone else is doing ok...... wonder if anybody will have an Xmas Day surprise ?

Happy Christmas everyone!!!! Saltcod, I am going in on Wednesday for a c/sOMG!!!!!!!!!!

Galmum, thinking of you today.

saltcod · 26/12/2006 03:49

Anyone else get a Christmas bundle, then?

Yep, so much for best-laid plans ... Baby Saltcod had other ideas & arrived 9 days early.... on Xmas morn! Had a few mild contractions from 6.45am - 7.15am, then waters broke, arrived at hospital at 08.15 & he was born at 10.00am.

6lb 12oz, fab labour (love that gas & air!) & so pleased I managed to avoid an induction this time round. No names yet, but he's a cutie

Good luck for Weds to OonaghBhuna + Amyclaire's sis. And looking forward to hearing everyone else's announcements soon(ish)!

Happy Boxing Day!

Lizzzombie · 26/12/2006 06:43

congratulations!
I am jealous saltcod.

BH have been so bad the last few days DP was convinced they were real contractions and baby was arriving early. No such luck.

Sorted out my baby clothes the other day. For some reason I brought lots of newborn (6lbs and under) sizes. Hmm, considering he is probably over that already wont be using those ones!

I am carrying a right biffer, no more gentle fluttering kicks. More like I get beaten up every time the baby moves.

I want my body back!
Good luck for tomorrow OonaghBuhna.

2HappyTurtleDoves · 26/12/2006 10:03

Saltcod congratulations!!!! A Christmas baby, wow!! Hope you're feeling well and get to munch some trifle today instead!!
Good luck today Oonagh xx - and like you, thinking of Galmum

Also hoping Magnolia and ELM doing well and enjoying being able to actually have a drink for Christmas!
Hope everyone else had a good day too x

2HappyTurtleDoves · 26/12/2006 10:04

Oops, I mean tomorrow Oonagh, I can't work out what day of the week it is, lol!

Hattie2 · 26/12/2006 11:52

Many congrats saltcod! You make it all sound so easy .

I am very , wish mine was here now as can hardly walk and am v v v uncomfortable! At least we're up at mum's being spolit, so not spending all day in the kitchen - would be nice to stay here until this baby decides to make an appearance (not sure dh would agree though!).

Fingers crossed to anyone with appts / cs etc this week (sorry, haven't managed to keep up with all the goings on)!

elliepmummy · 26/12/2006 12:27

Congrats Saltcod a christmas day baby hope you managed to get a christmas luncg

Good luck tomorrow Oonagh I am seeing consultanat at 1.00 tomorrow to discuss whether to go ahead with section week friday or bring it forward to a week today (aaaargh thats scary far to close now)

Hope everyone has had a good xmas and having a nice boxing day at IL's today so going to do some online sale shopping!!!

Wow congratulations saltcod! I am so jealous!! Just like you Hattie, I am incredably uncomfortable and can hardly walk - he's gotta come out soon hasn't he???????? Going out now to get some last bits and pieces from Boots and see if I can manage any sale shopping, and have pursuaded DP to help tidy up and sort out nursery this afternoon. So I'm hoping that once this is done and I'm feeling more relaxed and happy that we're all ready and organized the little one will also feel ready to make his appearence!

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 26/12/2006 19:05

wow - congrats saltcod! an xmas baby - i'm sure i won't be the only one to suggest noel as a name!! no christmas bundle of "joy" here yet, was half-hoping something would happen xmas eve, but no such luck! have been at my parents yesterday and today, and got MW appointment tomorrow, where she'll give me the list of on-call midwives so i know who to call when i do eventally go into labour. please, please, any deity who might be listening, don't let it be long!!

tomorrow evening would be good

well, hope everyone had a wonderful christmas day, not long to go now (surely!!)

wilkie50 · 26/12/2006 20:20

Congratulations Saltcod - so so so so !! Hope my birth is as straight forward (one can dream!!)

Am so jealous of all of you booked in for this week. LO is such a wriggle bottom, keep getting all sorts of twinges that make me think 'is this it?' even though I am still 3 and a half weeks off. Have had an iffy tum for the past four days too which can be a sign I've heard (ever hopeful!) Might start twiddling with my nips to try and get things moving?????

Hope you all had a fab Christmas and got looked after.

For the record - am now measuring 26 sheets of bog roll due to the copious amounts of food and choccie!!!

Good luck Oonagh!

xx

elliepmummy · 27/12/2006 07:27

morning just popped on to say good luck oonagh be thinking of you today and can't wait to hear about your new arrival

lulu25 · 27/12/2006 09:07

Phew congratulations/good luck. Gosh the last week has flown by and I'm staring down the barrel of a hospital bag.

Lizzz (or anyone!), are you there with some tips about nursing bras? The baby seems to have got into position because my ribs have finally stopped hurting (yay!), so I guess it's time to brave Kingston in the sales and buy MORE hideous underwear. But I am normally 30 back size and everything (even NCT) seems to start at 32. Help!

Loubie37 · 27/12/2006 12:06

Congratulations Saltcod on the best Xmas present ever! And good luck to EPM and Oonagh, hope to hear some good news soon

Hope you all had lovely Xmases too

Has anyone else been getting REALLY frequent BH's?? I've been having them VERY regularly (ie every 5 minutes or so) since 9.30pm yesterday. They're very uncomfortable, and mildly painful, but I don't think they're the real thing because they go away if I lie down. (I had them from 9.30pm until 1am last night when I finally went to bed and then each time I got up in the night they started up again but went away when I went back to bed, and they started again when I got up this morning).

Is this normal?? And will it go on until the baby arrives?? I know this is my 3rd baby, but I didn't experience any of this with the other 2 as my first sign I was in labour with them both was when my waters broke, so I knew it was the real thing)

I rang the midwife for advice last night and again a bit earlier today and both times they just said to put my feet up and wait and see what happens, which is what I am doing.

Just wondered if anyone else had the same and how long it was before they turned into the real thing?

I've got to say it's made me very nervous...we were packing my hospital bag at midnight just in case! (It never did get done the other day)

Thanks for any advice

Loubie xx

hiya all, well had my MW appt and this bub's 4/5ths engaged, not sure what that means though as at my mum's at the moment to have lunch with my brother and sister-in-law.

good luck oonagh and elliep...PLEASE CAN I HAVE MINE NOW???!!!

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 27/12/2006 12:51

ooh, loubie, i thought BH aren't supposed to go away if you lie down - what happens if you keep active? i know you're supposed to keep moving to bring on labour...but then, i could be wrong...sorry, not much help there!
