New thread! Have to admit that I thought up this title at the weekend and have been itching to post it - how sad is that!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just popping in to say hello, as have been manically busy over the past few days. Have only skimmed through, but can also totally relate to pregnancy brain & hormones (swing here between sheer happiness and stressed out manic-ness, particularly when thinking about Christmas preparations and work stuff).

Oh am also getting stressed out about the house as spare room (where bean is going) is still totally full of junk/clothes, and I hate hate hate clutter and am having panic attacks about where everything is going to go in the house. Conservatory looks like a cross between a chinese laundry and a dump as all the Christmas presents are sitting in their carrier bags waiting to be wrapped and there is washing everywhere. Am stressing out as have written 0 cards yet, and currently have 2 laptops running in front of me (one my own which I'm typing on at the moment and a work one which I'm supposed to be working on). The draw of Mumsnet is tooooo strong!

On a positive note am going to watch dd in her Nativity play this afternoon (she is an angel). Cue tears......

DingDongWaspEllyonHigh · 12/12/2006 10:26

Add me to the hormonal/forgetful ones - have lost my housekeys (and work keys!!!! ) a few weeks ago - remember conciously not needing them as we left to go away for a weekend, but now cannot find them at all. Have blamed DS for putting them in the bin - luckily all at work have LO's under 4 so understand - so currently operating on DH's car keys and a spare front door key
Have had a screaming row this week with DH (literally ) about him 'playing ' with ds before bed with the telly on & Dh watching one of his essential soaps: that's Corrie, Eastenders, Emmerdale or HollyOaks. Still mightily peed off about it - but he's bored by his job, wants a new one, and is stressing about not being able to give baby2 enough time as he's aware he's winding me up about the amount of help & attention he gives DS. And he's been feeling ill but not enough (apart from today) to actaully GO to the doctors {and I have been REFUSING to make him an appointment for him (ffs he's 33!)
And on top of that I've gone from thinking that a 1:350 Downs stat is reasonable to thinking it's actually quite low - and it's one of both DH & I's big fears {he had a favourite cousin die at 9yo due to Downs heart defect)

Not as bad as some, I know, but all adding up.
On the positive side Ds is being soo cute (I know exactly what you mean about CUTE bottoms MIAM!) and is at last expanding his vocabulary (yay!) not a serious worry as he was perecting running throwing & kicking first, now seems to be soaking up words to have a go at saying himself. So proud of every Buffsss (bus) etc..

Anyway that's enough of me offloading - love to all that are raging too, "slow down" to the forgetfull ones, and can we all remember not to try to do too much?

geordiemacmincepie · 12/12/2006 10:27

Not stressing about xmas at all...probably cos this is the last year it'll just be us!!

HOW THICK ARE SOME BLOKES...

Sitting having a cup of tea with the guys I work with... my dp (yes I work with him too) says " have you heard Silas's news.. his wife is pregnant" to which I responded "ooh thats nice, that 3 babies on the way now" Silas says "oh who is the other one" so I told him our boss's wife is pregnant... he still couldnt understand who the other one is... so I stod up and said " i'm 5 months!!" I wouldnt care but as weeonion will verify I have a HUGE bump.... honestly... thicker than a whale omlette!!!

EmmymummyChristmasPudTummy · 12/12/2006 10:32

LOL Georgie - totally know what you mean about blokes being thick. Most of them just think you've put a bit of weight on - it doesn't even occur to them that you might actully be pregnant!

we1becomes3kings · 12/12/2006 10:58

Right Have my notes here, if I have missed anything out blame the pg brain!

WO-grrr at your boss (can't remember why but I have that written down) ooops

SORL- good luck with your scan.

H&Mforever- there was something I wanted to say but only wrote down your name and nothing else (D'oh )

I'm not doing to well am I now!

MIAM- lol @ woman in same top as you. Bet that made her day

Ellywasp-sounds like a rough time Here's a big hug for you {{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}

GMM- lol @ the thicker than a whale omlette never heard that one before.

Bugger me I think that was it can't read my writting so it will have to do.

Right now on to the whole ss2 coming to stay, by the sounds of things he desperatly wants to make things up with DH. (do we think it because xmas is coming? )
He has promised to be on his best behaviour and realises that if he does any thing even remotely psychotic that he will be shipped straight off home.
I know I am crazy for letting the little shit stay, but he is DH's son and I do feel sorry for the poor thing it can't be easy for him.
Finger crossed that all goes well.

@ spelling

God that was a long one

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 12/12/2006 10:58

OMGosh Geordie - Hello?? Men are sooooooo stupid! LOL @ whale omlette!

[[hugs]] to waspelly and emmymummy in their stresses - feeling too weirded out to actually be stressed about anything yet. Feel like I'm in Lah Lah Land .....

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 12/12/2006 11:00

Fair enough 1B3 - Stick to your guns on the "anything remotely psychotic" front though!!

Hollyhormone · 12/12/2006 11:04

Hello All
Glad to see that all those hormones are still raging!!
Grrr to all those silly men!!!! They are clueless aren't they?
Congratulations on your scan Miam!
Spoke with my friend last night and kind of got it half resolved. She did understand risks and things but thinks that we can reschedule next week . The mw and Dr have both said not until the new year so I have still got that to sort out. Oh dear.
Cant stop eating cheddar cheese sarnies with chopped up pickled onions in them
DH thinks that it is gross. Anyone else eating anything a bit weird?????

CaptainDippyClausWithABump · 12/12/2006 11:06

My eating is all over the place ...... sometimes I'm hungry, somtimes I'm not. I eat at all sorts of funny times - Craving Super Noodles atm, which is soooooo Ate 7 slices of toast before bed last night!!!!!!!!

Hollyhormone · 12/12/2006 11:07

I really admire your courage and patience with SS. Good luck with the having him to stay. Fingers crossed for you

Hollyhormone · 12/12/2006 11:09

LOL at seven slices of toast CaptianDCWB
Dont feel so guilty about sarnies now!!!!!!

DecaTheHalls · 12/12/2006 11:12

helloo
just poping in to say a quick hello, really need to go and start some work. Have been in bed feeling rotten so far this am. Feeling vv guilty about dh out working hard, taking extra work for a bit of extra £ and me trying to do this blasted PhD and now not really getting on with it anyway coz feeling so crappy since preg. He's being lovely about it, but i still feel i'm not pulling my weight.

poor you H&Mforever. Still on the sofa! Hope you managed to get some sleep last night.

LOL MIAM at the poor-not pregnant- woman with the same top as you! I wonder if she'll ever wear it again!

Emmy - our spare room is still full of junk and yet to be transformed into beautiful baby room, but needs to be guest room over xmas, so must attack junk asap.

WaspElly, sounds like you've lots of stress on (((((hugs))))) And of course the Downs stat feels worse with the experience with the cousin. Hope you manage to put your mind at rest as you wait it out with us. Are you having any more tests? (sorry if you've already told us, is easy to lose track of this thread!)

Anyway, really going to go and try to get on a bit now.

EmmymummyChristmasPudTummy · 12/12/2006 11:16

1B3 - echo Holly's sentiments on having SS to stay. Really good luck with that, stay calm and breathe. I really do feel for you so big big hugs .

Captaindippy - 7 slices of toast???!!! Crikey. Mind you, now you've mentioned Super Noodles..mmmmm!

Right, must do some work (have found million and 1 things to do to put off doing work so far, must get on as dh due back shortly and he will tell me off for messing about all morning - am under strict instruction to get some cards written today).

liatHoHoHo · 12/12/2006 11:17

Does pickled beetroot count?

Actually my main craving is food food and more food. Dd seems to be coming out in sympathy as she's just eaten 6 clemantines and 2 boxes of raisins !!

PMSL at the whale omlette comment - then found myself thinking "Mmmmmm - omlette". Wonder how many eggs are in the fridge...

DecaTheHalls · 12/12/2006 11:18

sorry x posted with lots of you there!

1b3, hope it's a really good and rebuilding time with SS.

forgot to say congrats on scan MIAM! We just couldn't resist finding out! But we're keeping it pretty much a secret in RL. Must say MN makes that so much easier coz I can gossip about it on here!! CD - will you be able to resist???

And HH, I'm eating LOADs of cheese on biscuits with tomato chutney at the mo!

DecaTheHalls · 12/12/2006 11:20

mmmmm.... pickled beetroot...

muminaminimincepie · 12/12/2006 11:20

Talking of hormonal and PG brin things....whilst I have been away have done several extremely stupid things...

Most notably walking out of M&S with shopping basket and walking up the high street into two more shops before a Security guard in H Samuel stopped me!!! I was SO embarrased I could have died - thank god the basket was empty but I scuttled back to M&S to give it back and was just to embarrased with myself to carry on shopping and went home!

Have also bumped car in car park when deliberatley trying to park carefully...., then parked on top floor of car park and left ticket in car so had to go all way up to top before could pay (back down at the bottom) only to find that I did actually have ticket in bottom of handbag all along.....Xmas Angry

At work itis really stressing me out as I just keep forgetting EVERYTHING...which is not good in my job and have taken to having to write EVERYTHING down...

I was never this bad last time...at least I can laugh....sometimes.

Geordie - yes men are completley thick! My DH has drivenme mad also this weekend with his "Man Flu" leaving me to do the "big shop" haul it in from car, put it away etc and generally run around after him and DS whilst feeling knackered myself....had it out with him last night and when he got home from work he cooked tea and washed up so thing penny may have dropped...will only be for so long tho...till I have to rant at him again...

LMAO - at thicker than a whale omellette!!!!
x

EmmymummyChristmasPudTummy · 12/12/2006 11:30

Am actually feeling quite glad that everyone else is still stuffing their faces with whatever they fancy. Makes me feel a little less guilty .

Ok am working really....

Hollyhormone · 12/12/2006 11:42

Hugs to deca for feeling crappy. Hope that the festives help to revive you for the new year.
What's your PhD in? (sorry for being nosey!)
Am now thinking about cheese sarnies with tom chutney.......and pickled onions!!!!
Oh Miam I actually blushed for you with basket story - thats just priceless! There is just no controlling these hormones at the moment.

Whendoobygotstuckupthechimney · 12/12/2006 11:43

Great to catch up.Obviously forgotten who said what
I read that during pregnancy our brains are supposed to expand.Maybe they do but are an empty space
Feel crap today and yesterdy. Can't sleep but sooo tird.Horrid pain in right hand side down in pubic area and on the right side of my back.Have convinced myself that i can't feel bean moving.and dp is away at least 3 nights this week and 3 next.
Want to cry quite alot!
Anyway i shall hobble off..and apologies for bein a misery guts.
Good luck with scans today.

DecaTheHalls · 12/12/2006 11:56

hi dooby, sorry you're feeling so crappy. Why don't you give the mw a ring and get her to have a listen if you think you're not feeling enough movement. I'm sure she wont mind and it would put your mind at rest. My mind always goes into overdrive when dh is away. (((hugs)))

HH, my PhD covers lots of fields (which is a real pain) but mainly it's in feminist literary theory and the bible. Feel like i've been doing it forever and still not even halfway.

right really going to get on now...

Hollyhormone · 12/12/2006 12:12

Hugs to Dooby, hope that your mind is put at rest soon.
Wow that is some topic Deca - sounds quite mind blowing to me. I know how hard it is to write up at the best of times. My heart really goes out to you trying to do it whilst pg.
Hugs again to both of you.

opinionsrus · 12/12/2006 12:28

Hollyhormone - Yeh thats deffo one of my cravings.Especially extra mature cheddar. Either with sweet pickle or pickled onions!!

Are you having a boy by the way? Supposed to be a craving if you are?

Mum/mini - Carrying shopping basket half way down the street - aaaargh cringe!! The sort of thing I would do - I actually have to stop myself everytime b4 i go out of door just to check I have "shoplifted" anything.

Paranoid to go into any shops now......

Sexonreindeerlegs · 12/12/2006 12:42

Hiya loves, at work so can't be long, but if I leave it too long I miss so many posts. Welcome back MIAM and congrats on the scan. I had tears of laughter reading about the M&S basket fiasco. How wonderful!!
Dooby, what you are experiencing sounds like what I have- except my pain is on the left hand side - sort of from kidney area round to low down left in pubic area. I am ok sitting down, but if I stand up too long or walk around, it is really painful. Yesterday, I nearly passed out at the airport as it was agony, and there were a few tears shed. I would call your mw for re-assurance. Luckily I have my scan at 2.00 today, so will mention this then. Sooooo bloody nervous that I feel sick. Talking of food, I find I am really hungry, but then can only eat a smallish amount - I suppose due to stomach space being taken up by bean. Mind you, managed to scoff a choccie donut earlier with no problems!
Anyway, better go, as need to leave work shortly.
See you later. xxxx

SparklySnowflakeKid · 12/12/2006 12:44
