I told my mum yesterday. She was really excited, and then stopped herself and asked if we were excited. When I said we were delighted she resumed being very excited. In a not too patronising way I thought it was really sweet.

We will also tell DH parents this weekend. And then after that no more until post scan.

Even though I am feeling lots of symptoms, it still doesn't feel very real. It's hard to believe that anything is going to change.

bikingintherain · 14/10/2015 08:57

I've got no idea Belvedere but at least they told you it wasn't urgent. Maybe they discovered you were pregnant. Wink

Gosh, a new thread already and already three pages in! I can't keep up at all!

V excited for the mums-to-be who have already heard heartbeats, and truly sorry for those who have had less good news. I am 6 weeks today and very taken with the idea that my (now lentil-sized) baby could have a little heartbeat of its own! I'd love to know for sure! Still no symptoms other than big, sore boobs and more indigestion/trapped wind than I'm used to. I have tonnes of energy and don't feel pregnant in the least (not that I've been pregnant before and have anything to compare it to!)

Slightly narked at DH who has told his colleague we are expecting. His excuse is that they work so closely every day that it was impossible not to (HOW? It's not like he'll be easily identifiable by his big boobs and morning sickness!) We had a message from said colleague's wife yesterday congratulating us - I feel annoyed about this widening of the net to people I barely know, when most of my family (and none of his) have been told. DH's response to this is to tell me that said wife had a miscarriage some years ago, so if the worst DOES happen she would be an excellent person to turn to. I've met her twice for heaven's sake. I've told him that if he tells anyone else without my prior knowledge I will never sleep with him again Grin

PrincessPunzie · 14/10/2015 10:39

Also, is anyone else not going off their coffee in the slightest? I only ever had a maximum of three cups a day pre-pregnancy, but now that I'm only allowed two I feel as if I could drink it for England...

tigress23 · 14/10/2015 10:44

Princess, my DH went out in Brighton for his mate's birthday last weekend and now all of Brighton knows I'm pregnant. Apparently at a certain point during the evening, he was standing on a table shouting 'who's the daddy!!!!'

I console myself with the fact that most of the people he told are perfect strangers...

lepudding · 14/10/2015 10:50

I would just like to share the moment I started to lose my dignity in this entire thing.

So we went for the scan yesterday, I'm there legs akimbo which isn't the most refined situation in which to find onesself, SO nervously patting my hair, and the doctor decides to check whether the heartbeat is already audible. It wasn't, but an epic brewing fart (no doubt thanks to lunchtime Chinese takeaway) certainly was.

I've not heard the end of it yet. Blush

bikingintherain · 14/10/2015 10:50

I'm sure it's very annoying tigress but you did make me laugh almost spluttering my coffee out!

And yes princess I'm drinking more coffee than ever before. Although I am trying to drink decaff for some of them. Completely gone off tea, but I think the bitterness of the coffee helps with the nausea.

nehagarg · 14/10/2015 10:52

Lol. DHs can be hilarious! Grin

Potkettleblack2 · 14/10/2015 11:02

I'm at work and have just had a wee bleed. Nothing heavy but it's obvious when I wipe. I'm shaking and struggling not to cry. DH not answering phone. Do I ring the doctors? Any ideas what I should do next? If anything? Thanks!

tigress23 · 14/10/2015 11:03

How embarrassing, lepudding! At least your misfortune has brightened our days, though, I'm laughing out loud!

tigress23 · 14/10/2015 11:05

Potkettle, try ringing your early pregnancy unit. If it's only a little blood, hopefully everything is fine and they will set your mind at ease xx

Torfhinn · 14/10/2015 11:12

Bless you potkettle, any kind of bleeding is scary but is often normal and nothing to be worried about. Can you contact your local early pregnancy unit? They can offer check ups or scans if you are far enough along. With some you can self refer, others need a gp or midwife referral.

I had a scan yesterday and my 'D'H left his phone switched off until after lunchtime. I wondered how i would of felt if it were bad news. Bloody men Grin

PrincessPunzie · 14/10/2015 11:26

Oh my God tigress23 that's hilarious! Bad DH!! He must be so excited though. And lepudding eep! I would have died!!

Thanks nehagarg I'm glad I am not the only one who's craving the caffeine! I have bought some fruit teas and am having those once or twice a day as well as my hallowed two cups of coffee - not the best substitute, but nice and hot for the increasingly cold weather at least.

Potkettle I don't have any advice but am keeping my fingers crossed for you that it's nothing out of the ordinary x

Lovelybeano · 14/10/2015 11:32

Having a giggle at the 'who's the daddy' and brewing fart post lol
Hope you can get in touch with your epu potkettle xxxx

tigress23 · 14/10/2015 11:48

He is so excited, princess, I'm not cross because he's too sweet Smile

lemonslemonslemons · 14/10/2015 12:54

Updated spreadsheet! Sick as a flipping dog :(

How have some of you got your scan dates?! Jammy.

obsessedlex · 14/10/2015 13:20

Well - Been and had my scan - nothing much to see at the moment they can see the pregnancy sac but nothing in it yet and think I'm probably much earlier than I thought - I don't really understand how this can happen as I thought they date it from the first day of lmp?
She did a urine preg test and said it was very faint. I had a strong test on 1st October. She said they use different tests... they have booked me for another scan in 10 days time and by that stage should see something. They have said I should be cautiously positive and that I am definitely pregnant. It's going to be a long wait until 23rd October. Confused

nehagarg · 14/10/2015 13:33

Aww lex you poor thing ... Absolutely understand how painful the wait is. But fingers crossed there will be good news at the end of it. lepudding's issue was similar wasnt it? And mine was the same. Fingers firmly crossed that its just early days Flowers

kezod · 14/10/2015 13:38

Obssessed glad to hear there's a little sac there, try and stay positive, what a horrendously long wait though!

Unfortunately I also love my coffee, and decaf just is not the same! So I think I'll have to switch to the herbal teas too, but I'm trying to write an essay, and all you really want is coffee and chocolate!

I've gone off my food a bit too, not had breakfast the last couple of mornings and only about 1 main meal a day, its just tasteless and v uninviting (but I've got no nausea!)

Managed to track the midwives down earlier (a difficult bunch to get hold of!) And I'm going on fri to have a booking in app. It was around 7wks last time, but they want to get the ball rolling a bit earlier this time, due to my previous complications.

Hope everyone is having a nice Wednesday!

kezod · 14/10/2015 13:40

O and I've put myself on the spreadsheet thanks.

Torfhinn · 14/10/2015 13:45

In glad the news was positive lex.

FWIW dating from lmp assumes you ovulated on day 14 of your cycle. Therfore, 6 weeks after your last period, you would be 6 weeks pregnant and the baby would be 4 weeks old. However, if you ovulated later (say on day 18), you would think you would be 6 weeks pregnant but the baby would only be 3+3 weeks, actually making you 5+3 weeks. So you real dates depend on when you ovulated, not on when your last period was. I hope this makes sense!

Potkettleblack2 · 14/10/2015 13:59

Thanks all. I rang the EPU and they said I needed a referral, so I've a doctors appointment this evening. I'm exhausted! It's such a worry. But the bleeding isn't heavy so I really have my fingers crossed. I hope so much this isn't the start of something bad. I'll keep you informed

MagicDucky · 14/10/2015 14:22

lex sorry to hear about worry but glad it was positive today. Hope it isn't too long a wait till the 23rd!

Oh help, cutting down on the tea is difficult. I usually drink about 9/10 cups a day! That's me cutting down too! I cannot stand the decaf either!

It was the same with my first I only managed to get down to 5 a day!
