Gnomette that is great news! How lovely that the scan lady got to give you good news this time. Smile

I did NCT last time. I still have good friends from the group, but TBH we bonded lots more after the babies were born. I thought the classes themselves were expensive and pretty light on content. But maybe I'm just right-fisted and hard to please. Wink

AmIseeingRight · 20/10/2015 18:35

That's fab news gnomette yeah on all the June babies with lovely strong heartbeats.

snowflake I was also worried, convinced myself the worst as my symptoms had all disappeared but returned with a vengeance and luckily I now have a scan next week.

laughingGnomette · 20/10/2015 18:56

Aww thanks ladies! I can't quite believe it all looked ok. They saw quite a bit of blood at the scan last week and I was really worried about it but it seems to have gone away by itself thankfully.

RE: NCT - I went with DP last time because we were both pretty clueless about anything baby-related! I booked at about 20 weeks I think. We found them useful at the time but they are quite happy-clappy and not great for preparing you for grim-realities such as breast feeding issues, emergency C-sections etc. although I think it does depend on your NCT leader's approach. It was quite pricey. It was nice meeting people in a similar situation though and I'm still in touch with everyone from my group almost four years later. Sorry, that was a bit of a waffle!!

emma85x · 20/10/2015 19:16

laughibggnomette congratulations on your scan. How exciting!! How far along are you? I'm considering paying for an early scan but I read that the heartbeat can't be heard for 7 weeks. I'm 5+4.

Is anyone else suffering from rabbit pellets when they try to go to the loo? Sorry if tmi!
Apart from constipation and feeling tired I don't have any other symptoms

Snowflake16 · 20/10/2015 19:48

That's great news Gnomette
emma85 looks like we're having the same symptoms.

mrslewis2015 · 20/10/2015 19:50

Congratulations on the scans babysocks and gnomette!

tigress23 yeah it finally pays off to have IBS! Although I'm not enjoying the fact that everyone said my IBS would get better when I was knocked up..hopefully that will happen later on? Anyone else found that?

Also, does anyone else feel like their tummy is super sensitive to touch? My cat walked across it and it made me almost yell out! Like I'm desperate for a wee but I'm not!

laughingGnomette · 20/10/2015 19:52

Hi emma! Many thanks, I'm 6 wks today (or 6+1 according to the scan measurements). I can absolutely understand you wanting to get an early scan done privately. We couldn't hear the heartbeat but you could see it pulsing on the screen. The scan was an internal one rather than an abdominal one - I think they pick up a clearer picture at this early stage. I'm not sure which one you'd get with a private scan. I think its completely normal to not see much on a scan at this stage though so 7 weeks might be a good time to get one - if you can wait that long! :)

PrincessPunzie · 20/10/2015 20:44

Just s quick post from me today, had my first hint of nausea this evening and hacked up some of my lunch hours after I'd eaten it, really sorry to hear about the ladies who are suffering from it even worse, I hope you can get it sorted to a level where you feel human again! Great news on your scan Gnomette seeing that heartbeat is just the best!

Stripes1983 · 20/10/2015 21:13

Hi all , had first lot of morning sickness this morn , luckily before work so I pulled myself together before getting in , hoping it's not a regular thing ! Boobs have been less sore last 2 days, but still quite sore underneath ( like where underwire sits on bra) and esp the one side, and not sure if I feel a lump there or if I'm imagining it! anybody else having tender under boob for want of a better word?

vitalite · 20/10/2015 21:19

Have felt a wee bit nauseous some evenings but not too bad so far. had it really bad with previous pregnancies though so just waiting for it to kick in properly!

Divergent I'm Scotland too Smile Glasgow area.

Osirus · 20/10/2015 22:15

Congratulations to the new BFPs, especially those that have been trying for more than a year. As I've mentioned before I have been trying for several years and have just had my first BFP after our first round of IVF. I think I might be the only IVF-er so far on this thread!

It really doesn't feel real. I don't have many symptoms but today I did feel a little "off" first thing. Sore boobs still though and waking up 2-3 times at night needing a wee!

Does anyone have any cravings? I've gone off sweet stuff but have got a real thing for processed cheese and cheese flavoured crisps! Maybe it's the calcium!

Well I've made it to six weeks today and my first scan is next Tuesday. One of the "perks" of IVF is an early scan Grin

SliceofLemon · 20/10/2015 22:21

Hello, welcome to all newbies. 5+2 here and not many symptoms except breast tenderness. Time going sooo slowly, can't wait for 12 week scan, tempted to give in and get an early scan as very cheap nearby!

Agree it's strange how much GPs vary. My GP had no idea what to do with me when I told him I was pregnant (although he did congratulate), he had to ring a colleague who said to book in with midwife. No one asked how far along I was so booked for next week!

emma I will also be living in Buckinghamshire by my EDD Smile

rose I have a ski holiday booked for January when I should be about 20 weeks. I wasn't worried about altitude until now more how I'm going to entertain myself without skiing, drinking, hot-tubbing! Planning on taking a stash of books! Let me know if you find any info.

Lovelybeano · 21/10/2015 06:40

Warning tmi.......I really need a poo, I'll be throwing a party when I actually manage to go Grin I forgot how uncomfortable it can be at times, I keep going from loose and going all the time to being constipated lol I better buy some orange juice and lots of veg xx

BiffleRoo · 21/10/2015 07:05

6+3 today and so much sick! Only been out of bed 10 minutes and have actually been sick 7 times. There is nothing left except acid but I'm still retching.

mrsmugoo · 21/10/2015 07:09

Oh you poor thing Biffle, sounds utterly horrendous. I can't believe how lucky I am at 6+6 to just not really fancy breakfast first thing in the morning!

Lovelybeano · 21/10/2015 07:19

Aww biffleroo I hope it eases for you soon xxx

JellyBaby26 · 21/10/2015 07:53

Biffle reading that makes me feel sick! The perks of bringing a small person into the world eh...!

I'm thinking of a private early scan too. When you say 7 weeks, or however far along you are, do you count from last period or when you ovulated (which I guess is how far along a pregnancy test works it out from)? This is my first time and I'm not sure when to book in for. Also do you take your DH along to the booking appointment or is that one just for the woman? Thanks

Rose2806 · 21/10/2015 09:02

Lemon sorry if I have worried you more! The stuff I've looked at so far seems to indicate that it will be fine, but going to try and look into it more today. I love skiing so it's going to be hard seeing everyone else go off without me, but yes was going to take lots of books and try and do some walking, maybe see if your resort is suitable for that? Sometimes it's possible to meet people for lunch as well on foot, I need to try and make sure I don't eat as much as normal when I'm not burning it off skiing though!

We're almost exactly the same dates wise, I'm 5+1 today (by my own calculations anyway) and symptoms exactly the same which is reassuring :-)

Rose2806 · 21/10/2015 09:06

Justexpecting it's from your last period, but because I ovulated late I have reshuffled my dates a bit. It seems really odd at first but at lest it makes time go a tiny bit faster initially!

Biffle that sounds horrible, really hope you can get some rest now and feel a bit better soon xxx

Rose2806 · 21/10/2015 09:08

DH is coming to scans but I'm not sure what is normal for first midwife appointment?

Belvedere · 21/10/2015 09:13

My Dp came to the booking appointment last time but won't this time. There really isn't any need. It's more to go through your medical history, weigh you etc so not really anything for them to do.

LucilleLeSueur · 21/10/2015 09:42

Morning ladies. Sympathy to the sicky people, it's grim.

I booked myself in for the Harmony test at the end of November.
12 week screening isn't offered here as standard so I would have to pay for the nuchal test anyway and this way I can find out the sex at 10 weeks!

lilygirl81 · 21/10/2015 09:51

Biffle That sounds horrible, hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Beano I know how you feel, mine is compounded because I have to take morphine for chronic pain every day, so had issues going before this, now it's such a momentous occasion I want to tell everyone when it happens, although the noises coming out the toilet may give it away anyway...

Osiris congrats on 6 weeks Flowers

I have my early midwife appointment today, and hopefully should get booked in for my early scan, but not sure if it will be at 5 or 6 weeks (4+5 today). I've moved healthcare regions since I had my last pregnancy (ectopic), so no idea what to expect. DH is not coming to this appointment, but will come to the scan, he laughed when I said I'd try to book it for one of his days off, said he was sure he could get some time off for that!

I'm so bloated none of my clothes are comfy, so have bought a couple of maternity dresses on eBay, one arrived yesterday and it is so lovely, just a stretchy mock wrap dress, but really flattering and comfortable, it's and ASOS maternity one, can see me buying more once I actually have a bump!

MrsSparkles · 21/10/2015 10:15

Biffle horrid- hope what the doctor gave you helps.

Rose DH came to my booking appointment last time, but I shouldn't think he'll bother this time, not least as I have a feeling I'm only going to have a couple of days notice! They won't even book me an appointment until 8 weeks.

I just remember it as lots of medical history and tests. If he doesn't come it may be helpful to check if there's any pertinent family history you should know to tell the midwives. I do have a huge questionnaire to fill in as well.
