Our hv service is fairly hands off, they don't come till you've had the baby and then it's only for a week or two then you just go to the clinic when you want the baby weighed. The service round here is pretty stretched, and unless you are seen as high risk then you are left alone, which suited me fine.

chopsface · 20/10/2015 07:35

First facebook group December baby was born yesterday at 2.44pm at 33+3 weeks!!

mrsdiddlydoo · 22/10/2015 13:36

Had a growth scan this morning wrhich shows we're all good but placenta is still not in a good location so yet another check in 2 weeks. Was hoping to have walked away with a clearer mind and no more appts but hey ho. Grateful for getting this far. Need to take things easy. Had foolishly assumed it would move like it did for DS...

chopsface · 25/10/2015 21:00

Sorry your placenta is still in a crap position. I've not got my placenta scan until 36 weeks.

Had my baby shower today it was lovely and I was totally spoiled. Had an afternoon tea of sorts at my colleagues parents massive house! Could have fit my houses footprint into their lounge! Their downstairs loo was bigger than our baby's nursery Shock how the other half live lol!

Hope you've all had a good weekend? It's good too fast and I've been quite busy, I feel like I need another day off before tackling a whole week in work. Only 2 weeks left.... Clinging onto that!

Metalhead · 26/10/2015 09:49

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend chops! Some of my friends' parents also have massive houses (with swimming pools and tennis courts etc), it does make you slightly jealous doesn't it? Though I always think of how long it would take to clean it all to make myself feel better! Grin

We had some friends over for lunch yesterday which was nice, but I was so achy again after spending a couple of hours down the park with them. My back and pelvis are definitely getting worse.

Last three days at work for me, and got my next scan/appointment on Wednesday morning where I should hopefully get my date for the C-section.

Cheshirehello79 · 26/10/2015 19:05

Helloooo ... Looks like lots have been going on in here

Congrats on baby dec and hope you enjoyed your baby shower chops .

I've been so busy getting everything organised especially after moving house but I'm all settled now and all ready in terms of baby room etc..

I had my 34 weeks midwife app last week as I had lower posterior placenta I'm glad to say my placenta is in the right position and baby is already engaged. The negatives is that i keep on getting constant bras ton hicks and my lower part feels as if it's going to drop off - so taking it easy on everything. Can't believe almost 5 weeks to go .

Have you all got baby names ready ?

OP posts:
Metalhead · 27/10/2015 13:09

Cheshire I'm getting lots of Braxton Hicks too. As for position, mine still seems to be moving around a lot, sometimes I get really hard kicks right under the ribs and other times they're off to the side. Will be interesting to see which way she's lying at the scan tomorrow!

DH and I just discussed names again over lunch, and we're both still happy with the ones we chose a few weeks back (first and middle name). Don't think we're going to change our minds now as we seem to have exhausted all feasible options!

Cheshirehello79 · 27/10/2015 23:24

Keep us posted with scan metal

I've definetly got my definite 2 names ( boy and girl) now ... Not sharing :-)

Since I discarraged my friends and family from doing a surprise baby shower - I've decided to have a small get together house warming and they are allowed to incoporate baby shower- everyone is made up apart from me as can't be bothered with the cleaning later - hope weather is nice and we can do it outside at lunch time.

I've now got pram set up and plenty of trial on how to use it and all ready for action.

Spare room for mum to help out all ready as well with a travel cot ready.

I'm going breastfeeding classes on sat- have you all decided if breastfeeding or bottle feeding?

Sounds like you are way more prepared than me Cheshire!

Touch wood I will be breastfeeding, I breastfed dd and once you get past the early days it is very convenient.

I am also getting lots of backache and suddenly everything feels very heavy in my pelvis, so I wonder if that is the baby starting to engage.

mrsdiddlydoo · 28/10/2015 08:34

Bf here hopefully. Managed 18m with DS. It's so much easier once established and cheaper than bottles and sterilising, but key can be getting plenty of support in the early days if you are struggling (and asking... Shouting for it if needed) and then also not beating yourself up if you end up on bottles. Mummy's sanity is much more important at the end of the day. Hope the classes go well Cheshire and well done on being so prepared!!

Metalhead · 28/10/2015 12:57

So baby Metal is head down and has had a bit of a growth spurt since the last scan - doubled in weight and measurements now all slightly ahead of 50th centile! Also got my ECLS signed off, pre-op swabs taken, consent form signed, though still waiting on a date (I was told they'd ring me within the next couple of days).

I'm planning to bf again, though hoping it will be less painful than last time. With DD1 it took a good couple of months until it didn't hurt anymore, despite numerous people assuring me her latch was fine. So just be prepared that it might be quite uncomfortable at first Cheshire.

Also, don't believe all the stuff about how giving the odd bottle will mess up your milk supply - DD1 had one bottle of formula before bed every night from around 6 weeks (to save my sanity!) and it was absolutely fine.

Metalhead · 28/10/2015 16:09

Just had the call, booked in for 2 December - 5 weeks today, eeek! And just 1 hour to go until maternity leave starts!

mrsdiddlydoo · 28/10/2015 17:32

Happy maternity leave metal !! And eek!! 2nd Dec Grin

Happyteddy · 29/10/2015 08:23

Hello everyone.....can I join this group too.

I am 32+6 days this week and this is my first pregnancy. I am due on 17 of December.

Having been reading the post on this group for sometime and throughly enjoying them.????

mrsdiddlydoo · 29/10/2015 08:44

Hi teddy welcome aboard! We share the same due date! Do you know what you're having? Other than a baby that is! Have you had a complication free pregnancy?

chopsface · 29/10/2015 18:10

9 working days left!!!! I'm into single figures!!!

However I spent the 10th working day in antenatal assessment :-( had a bit of random blood this morning. The embarrassing bit was I wasn't sure what hole it came from. Called them and they said to come in because of my low placenta history. All fine though thank goodness. The blood was probably from the back passage

Welcome teddy where have you been the last 30 weeks?!

Cheshirehello79 · 30/10/2015 00:03

Metal - happy maternity leave - I've been home almost a month now but due to big move etc I don't feel like I've relaxed at all- I'm certainly trying to slow down though and enjoy the break

Chops- glad you're ok - I had low placenta too but on my 32 weeks scan it was confirmed that the placenta is now in good position - was more of a worry to me as I've got 2 fibroids which haven't grown through out pregnancy but the low placenta issue was going to be an issue if position didn't change.

Welcome Happy Teddy - can't believe you're only just joining the group - you need to tell us everything about you :-)

Im thinking of going for a full body wax etc before d day as I have hairs growing out of every single hole in my body -my legs have not been touched since around 20 weeks or don't ask about down there ( tmi) I could use my electric curlers on this rate :-)

Full body wax CheshireHalloween Shock

Welcome teddy.

At my midwife appointment yesterday I found out I have low iron and need to go on tablets, yuk. Also my bump is officially huge as I measure 2 weeks ahead.

Chops sorry you had a stressful day but that made me Grin - pregnancy is soooo glamorous, isn't it?

chopsface · 30/10/2015 10:30

This will make you Grin even more snozz the Midwife yesterday asked me about my movements and because we'd been talking about the bleed maybe being from piles I started describing my previous poo consistency!! She meant baby's movements Blush whoops.... Also they did a speculum examination and I have not tidied 'down there' for goodness knows how long. The doctor had to do it not a mw and she had a student standing over her shoulder holding a torch. O.M.G.

Sorry about the iron levels, I've been on tablets for months now. I just get black poo as a side effect! must stop talking about poo

mrsdiddlydoo · 30/10/2015 13:16

Glamorous talk this morning ladies! Halloween Grin

I actually had a cry in the bath last night at how grotesque my body has become. I had forgotten that I tried to do my bikini line a couple of weeks ago and had given up meaning to try again. Not sure what possessed me to use a mirror to look down there Halloween Hmm very scary. And confused!!

I have 6 days at work left after today... It's keeping me going at work... Counting the seconds...

snozz I got iron tablets yesterday. Have avoided them until now and looking at my blood results my diet of floradix and more floradix has helped them stay levelish. Apparently I need to take them because I'm at a high risk of bleeding due to placenta previa.

Consultant has said if it doesn't move by next Thursday... 34 weeks... I'll be having a section at 39 weeks or earlier if I go into labour. I really thought they'd give it more time to move and check it at 36 weeks again because I've read it can still move. Not dealing with the uncertainty very well.

My bump is officially small so they've given up checking. Measuring 30 weeks. Scans all OK though.

So what you all got planned this weekend? Crazy alcohol fuelled Halloween parties??!! I'm thinking feet up on sofa and maybe start a just in case hospital bag.

SnozzberryPie · 30/10/2015 14:03

I had to have iron tablets last time and they made me very constipated so I'm reluctant to start taking them again. I guess it is necessary though.

On the subject of pregnancy glamour, I had a missed delivery the other day because the item was 'too large to fit through my letterbox'. Turns out it was my new granny pants...

Happyteddy · 30/10/2015 14:33

Hi everyone

Yes I know what I am having.....its a boy. I am a bit new to mumnet hence the delay in joining.

No I have not been having a smooth pregnancy. My 20 th week scan showed that the fluid in my baby brain was much more and measured higher than the normal range. Since then I have been having regular scans and meeting consultants. In the next scan the consultant found that the left ventricle of the heart was smaller than the right so a meeting with a fetal cardiologist was arranged. I have lost track of the number of scans I have had.

I am now on maternity leave so currently enjoying taking a backseat and getting some rest. Started a bit of shopping so feeling excited too!!!

Happyteddy · 30/10/2015 14:39

Hi cheshirehello79

The idea of a full body wax sounds good.... Not being able to tidy down there and feeling really unkept. Even cutting ones toenails has become a big problem these days.

Happyteddy · 30/10/2015 14:43

Btw did any attend the baby show in Olympia last weekend???

SnozzberryPie · 30/10/2015 17:01

Diddly that doesn't sound very logical to me, surely if you went into labour at say 38 weeks they would scan you again to check if the placenta has moved before doing a cs? Unless you would prefer a cs then I think you could ask them to do that.

Sorry your pregnancy has been stressful teddy. At least they are aware of the problem and will hopefully be able to treat it asap after birth.
