Still 4 weeks for me :-( wish it was sooner as work is feeling tough. Or not so much the actual work as such, but the early start and commutes either way. I've had today off as I'm working Saturday, which sucks. I like having my weekend days together. I am only working til lunch time tomorrow as I have whooping cough jab at 14.45 followed by Midwife at 15.20.

Not sure if I mentioned that we have our first NCT class tomorrow night? I'm curious and kinda excited!

Metalhead · 14/10/2015 22:41

Fx you'll meet some nice people at the NCT class, I'm still friends with my group from 6 years ago and they were all a godsend during the first year!

Just be aware that the classes themselves can be very skewed towards natural birth and what I'd call 'hippy stuff' like homeopathy. If that's not your cup of tea, try and take everything with a pinch of salt. (They also seem to love water births, which I quite liked the idea of with DD1 but in the event did f-all for me in terms of pain relief and only slowed my contractions down...)

SnozzberryPie · 15/10/2015 08:32

I've got three weeks left but I am working from home today as I have a midwife appointment in the middle of the day (not that I planned it like that or anything Wink). I'm actually more productive at home now as I'm uncomfortable at my desk and spend most of the day trudging to the loo and back...

Metalhead · 16/10/2015 15:22

Just had a little cuddle with a not yet one week old baby - so cute!! Can't wait to snuggle with my own little bundle soon. I guess big-girl cuddles with DD1 will have to tide me over until then. Smile

Cheshirehello79 · 16/10/2015 19:51

Aww that's so sweet metal

Well been quite again as I've done my wrist whilst moving but because it can't be xrayed I'm stuck with a sling and can't move/ drive and was finding it hard to write. Doesn't help didn't have wifi due to moving home. All settled now and let nestling begins .

Going to my second antenatal class tomorrow and looking forward.

How's everyone keeping ? Beanster has been extra wriggly digging on my ribs it's not fun when it's 3am in the morning!

So have we all packed hospital bag ? Mine is by the door ready for action

I've not had the time to go shopping for hospital bag contents Cheshire or mine would be done too!! At work today too so no shopping for me :-( then I've got 2 more busy weekends to come with hospital tour, baby shower, NCT classes and family parties and staying at the in laws!!! Might not have a free weekend to go shopping until 4 weeks before I'm due!!!! Confused

Sorry to hear you're injured though Cheshire, hope you heal quickly and its nothing too serious xx

Oh and metal the NCT class wasn't overly hippy, well a little bit, but I liked it :-) tell you about it later maybe, need to head out to work now, boooooo

chopsface · 17/10/2015 12:36

Eeeeek! One of the Facebook group has gone into labour at 33 weeks! They are pumping her full of steroids for baby's lungs and trying to hold it off as long as possible. Bedrest for her Confused

mrsdiddlydoo · 17/10/2015 15:13

Oh my goodness. 33 weeks. Sure they'll be taking good care of her. Hope all goes well.

No hospital bag packed here. I'll worry about that after I've started mat leave. Head is still mainly in the sand. Feeling fed up with feeling sick all the time. Have a very wriggly baby most of the time.

Hope the wrist heals soon Cheshire. Well done on the move! And enjoy nesting Smile

Got a busy week ahead which I'm already dreading a bit ... Cos I'm shattered. Hv on Monday. Flu jab tues. And another scan on Thursday to makes sure the placenta has buggered off completely from the exit and to check on growth. Feeling enormous. Compared photos of me with DS to now and I'm definitely bigger!

Hope you're all having a chilled weekend x

Needle · 17/10/2015 17:16

Hi all,

Seems like everyone is starting to flag a little - I'm no exception, I've had the most HORRENDOUS week.
Consultant app at the hospital on Monday, and Dh let me down so I had to take all three kids with me. Halfway through the appointment dd2 (the one with Down Syndrome) stood up in the buggy, pulled her tights and pants down and let out the loudest fart I have ever heard in my life. The Dr actually shrieked.
Tuesday I fell backwards getting off the bus on thw school run, then lay there watching as the double buggy fell towards me in slow motion. All of this at 8:30 at Victoria with like, 200 people around.

Wednesday at the Dr with dd2, Thursday midwife, then yesterday evening I fell down a flight of stairs at church trying to retrieve dd2 from the organ loft. Baby is fine, but I've really hurt my leg- my whole right shin is purple and green today.
DH is away this weekend, so I'm on my own with the girls and this morning Dd2 dumped a full 2kg of icing sugar over herself and the kitchen floor while I was on the loo, then snuck downstairs and ran through the tea house in her pants.

Basically I think Dd2 is trying to kill me.

SnozzberryPie · 17/10/2015 18:56

Shock Needle

The fart story is hilarious though. There is one doctor in out surgery I daren't go back to after his attempt to show me how 'easy' it was to give dd her inhaler ended up in a full on meltdown and his office coated in fruit puree.

Needle · 17/10/2015 19:20

Snozzberrypie the first time I took dd1 for her six week check with our (rather dishy) young doctor, he took her nappy off and she peed all over the front of his trousers. It was 9am, so he had to wear them all day.

As a counterpoint to dd2's efforts to destroy me, in the supermarket on Wednesday dd1 instigated the following conversation :

Dd: mummy? When we get home, before I start doing fun things, can I please do some cursive handwriting practice?
Me: uh... Yes, I expect so.
Dd: good! Ooooh! Can we have LOTS of broccoli with our tea?
Me: ( to the woman next to me) I swear I'm not paying her to say this.

Dd is 5.

chopsface · 17/10/2015 19:48

Oh my goodness needle what a horrendous week!! Glad you and bub are OK after all those falls! Dd2 sounds like a bit of a handful bless her. I hope the Dr saw the funny side of the fart incident though?!

Dec FB lady is now out of danger, the bleeds and contractions have stopped and she can go home Monday if all still well. The Dr's don't reckon she will go term though. But good news :-)

chopsface · 18/10/2015 09:27

Another update this morning! Her waters broke in the night so baby is pretty much imminent! 33+2!

Needle · 18/10/2015 19:59

Yeesh. 33+2, poor thing, how horrible that must be. Baby should be fine at 33 weeks though. Fingers crossed that everything goes OK for her.

SnozzberryPie · 18/10/2015 20:07

Fingers crossed for her, I think babies do pretty well at 33 weeks with modern medical care.

Metalhead · 19/10/2015 09:28

Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend? I've had a bit of a cold but am feeling better today. Also been feeling a bit sick again, though that's probably due to the prune juice I've been drinking in my on-going fight against constipation...

Cheshire I hope your wrist is feeling a bit better, and also your leg needle. And bless your DD1 for wanting lots of broccoli! My DD1 used to love it too, though lately she prefers cauliflower.

Fx for the lady from your FB group chops, I'm sure I read somewhere yesterday that 99% of babies born around 34 weeks are absolutely fine.

33 weeks for me today, and I have my leaving lunch at work on Wednesday, then just 3 more days of work next week, whohoo!

I've started to pack my hospital bag but haven't packed anything for baby yet... I'm planning on washing all the baby clothes once I'm off work. So far in my bag I've got some big knickers, a nursing bra, front-opening nightie, towels, bra pads and sanitary towels, and a couple of bottles of formula just in case. Still need to pack clothes, toiletries, something to read, snacks/drinks and probably other things I've forgotten.

chopsface · 19/10/2015 12:22

Well done on the hospital bag metal! I've done bugger all so far. Really need to go shopping but too tired after work and had busy weekends.

Three more weeks in work, sigh. Wish I'd gone off sooner, always the martyr Grin

Leaving my baby clothes washing until after my baby shower on Sunday Grin

Hope you're all well as can be? I'm pooped all the time!

pizzakat · 19/10/2015 15:14

So jealous, I haven't even got a hospital bag to fill yet! Majorly unprepared but planning on having a big shopping weekend at the end of the month, once nursery decorating is finished and carpets are down...

I'm supposed to be going to my first Aqua natal class tonight but I'm really nervous for some reason and not sure I want to go :(

chopsface · 19/10/2015 15:21

Don't be nervous pizza! If its anything like mine you'll love it. It's so relaxing.

pizzakat · 19/10/2015 15:30

I always get a bit hung up about meeting new people, but I've paid for all my sessions in advance and bought a new costume so I'm gonna drag myself, and if I hate it I don't have to go back I suppose x

mrsdiddlydoo · 19/10/2015 16:41

pizza I'm crap at meeting new people. I find it helps if I've paid in advance because then I don't want to waste my money by not going. Got 2nd session of my pregnancy yoga tonight and dreading it. Need to make myself go. I always come away feeling better about it. I hope you manage to enjoy tonight. It'll be good to move around in the water!

Survived hv today. Wasn't too bad. Starting to think packing a few things might not be a bad idea so dh doesn't panic if anything was to happen early. Flu jab tomorrow.

chopsface · 19/10/2015 16:49

I take it health visitors are a post code lottery too as I've not heard about a pre birth visit!

pizzakat · 19/10/2015 17:46

Thanks Diddly hope your yoga goes well too! And yes itll be nice not to feel like I weigh a ton for half an hour haha

chops mine only called me a couple days ago, and isnt coming out to see me until 2nd November so might just be a little early? Could always check with your MW next time you go x

mrsdiddlydoo · 19/10/2015 18:52

Our hv's don't do home visits until after the birth. Got a letter about a month ago with an appt. I know their service varies depending where you live. I have friends about 10 miles away who get visitors by their hv. And MV cone to think of it. I have to go to our local community hospital which isn't far.

Metalhead · 19/10/2015 21:02

No antenatal visits from either midwives or HV here either chops, as far as I remember the HV takes over care from the midwives once you're discharged home after the birth. Bit gutted I won't get the same HV as last time as we've moved since then, she was brilliant and really helped me with my PND.
