Conversations I have had today whilst on a training course through work:

Dozy, sour face old trout: When are you due?
Me [all excited because I look pregnant]: May
Dozy, sour face old trout: Oh that's a surprise, my daughter's due in March and she's much smaller than you
Me [offended, upset and wanting the ground to swallow me whole] Oh...erm...er...I'm...er...sure everybody's different
Dozy, sour face old trout: Oh well my daughter's just naturally slim

At this point I stopped responding and started trying to fashion a biro, a rubber band and a scrap of A4 paper into some sort of voodoo doll.

Offended, me?

I have never met a Sebastian in my life. I just think it is a sweet name. I gave ds a sweet name (Mateo), I also check to Social Security website for lists of names born in the last year and sebastian isn't in the top 100 for my state or the country. I grew up being one of a kind and I want my kids to be one of a kind too.

ShowOfHands · 30/11/2006 18:01

Oh and names I am thinking of for child:

Matilda Beatrice for a girl

Finningan for a boy (but also discussed Barnaby, Bartholomew and Seth)

ShowOfHands · 30/11/2006 18:01

And I can spell Finningan really, but my fat, chubby fingers are getting in the way...

Still quietly fuming...

Oh I wish I could have come up with a suitable 'well you know thin people don't age well as she can probably see from her mother' line (ooh I can think of loads after the event), but I'm such a hormonal wreck that I just trembled and dropped my pen. In fact I'm just a wreck the past few days- burst into tears this morning because I had lost my glove. It was such a beautiful glove too...

For the record- I am a bloody size 10, I just have a big bump.

Witchy witch.

pebblemum · 30/11/2006 18:12

Arent you lot organised with your names at the ready. Ive got a few that i like but am going to wait until after my 20wk scan before i start thinking about it seriously. Dont want to find the perfect girls name only for my bean to be a boy, thats what happened with ds2. Everyone kept saying he was a girl so got my hopes up and picked the perfect name but obviously couldnt use it. Its bad enough having ds1 share his name with a busty glamour model without giving ds2 a girly name as well Ive found a good website that lists all the names and their meanings here

I think i spoke too soon yesterday about prefering to have a cold at this stage of pregnancy because you dont have as many problems. Well today it started. I had to go out and buy some pads as everytime i sneeze or cough i nearly wet myself much to dh's amusement as he watches me rush from the room I now feel like im wearing a massive bloody nappy (had to buy cheap as it was all corner shop had) I suppose it doesnt help that ive spent all day drinking cup after cup of tea, hot blackcurrant juice, and water

largeginandtonic · 30/11/2006 18:27

Nasty lady SOH, how very horrid of her. Stamp on her toe by accident next time you see her...just say oh sorry cant see my feet cos of my HUGE bump...

Meggle i cant believe we like all the same names, i love Felix too but Dh wanted Brutus and Rufus and i said they sounded like dog names, he said Felix is a cat name so it was veetoed...

Hugo is a fab name Ds #4's name.....he gets called Hugs and everyone likes it,i dont know anyone else with it either.

I had a friend with a Thea and Tula very pretty name.

largeginandtonic · 30/11/2006 18:29

Ds #4 was going to be Sebastian but my friend stole it at the final hurdle...she gave birth before me..

Im called Matilda when im having a bad day, the kids say mum about 4 billion times and i say no, they say Matilda (cos i love the name so much) and i answer!

Frenchsmallfry · 30/11/2006 18:35

Are you still running lg&t................. your looking rather hot and bothered.

Your names are all ver unique. I like them but not sure the French could say many of them. I have to consider what sounds good with a French accent and what the meaning is. We liked Molly for a little while when pg with dd, but here Mol means spineless; nice.
MKG, Sebastien is VERY popular in France, ds has 2 in his class. It is always shortened to Bastien over here though. I like Sebastien and I don't mind Seb, but I'm not sure on Bastien.

Love Finnigan, dd was going to be Finlay if she was a boy, but I like Finnigan.

SOH you should have poked her eyes out bloody rude cow.

MKG · 30/11/2006 19:18

I just realized that I officially hit the second trimester today! One down, two to go.

SOH - I'm sooo cross on your behalf! What kind of woman would say something like that to a pregnant woman? A bitter and twisted sociopath, that's what! Grrrrrr!

As for names, I'm determined that I am going to name this one as my husband named our last one and so far has only contributed ridiculous names for this one (characters out of Blake's Seven, anyone??!) I haven't decided on anything definite yet as I want to see what the baby looks like first and what will suit him/her but so far I've come up with;

for a girl (which I've a feeling I'm having) - Olivia, Rosa, Greta, Lydia, Matilda

for a boy - Ewan, Louis, Gabriel, Ciaran, Owen

These are all top secret naturally, as my husband has poo-pooed every single name that I've mentioned to him so far. I'm planning on keeping schtum until the birth and then announcing what the baby will be called - surely DH won't complain or remonstrate with a woman who has just given birth??!

lupins71 · 30/11/2006 19:55

I cant keep up with you lot, you chat more than my dd lol

aprilmeadow · 30/11/2006 20:38

Good evening ladies!

Wow you have some lovely names picked out! Mine are rather boring in comparison. George or Ella. My ds is Jack. Would like to be more adventurous but dh is not easily convinced.

Please can add you ladies to MSN? Mine is - and you will never guess my name from it! - [email protected] Original i know

I cant believe i have missed out on the whole KK discussion. Feeling rather peckish now.

TPT measurement is still 8 sheets! I feel huge, how can that be? Wow at the size or some of your norks!! Mine are still a 34D although think they are at the fuller end of that size!

Cant remember if i mentioned my rather embarrassing shopping trip on Sunday! I was putting ds back in the car and sneezed. I thought ooh i need a wee. Then the mother of all sneezed hit me and i did actually wee!! How embarrassing tmi, but it went through my jeans! had to rush home and try and fine some clean trousers - not an easy job when all your clothes are packed in various boxes! DH thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard!

lupins71 · 30/11/2006 20:53

aww how embarrassing aprilmeadow, havent had that yet lol

My norks are growing quicker than i can buy bras, was 34c at the mo am 38dd, dp happy tho

Tpt 8 sheets, gone up 0.5 althi that could be the pizza hut buffet i had for lunch and trifle for pud mmmmmmmmmmmm yummm oh and the packet of thorntons alpini while i got to bus stop lol

Oh and friend that was being induced had little girl - no name yet 8lb 3oz, congrats to them

Lisa x

aprilmeadow · 30/11/2006 21:08

good lord lupins!! no wonder dh is happy

congrats to your friend.

pebblemum · 30/11/2006 22:18

Aprilmeadow im glad im not the omly one having problems when sneezing/coughing although thankfuly i havent actually wet myself If we are like this at this early stage imagine how bad we will be nearer the end lol Perhaps we should stock up on Tenalady now

Im sat here eating cheese and onion crisps with a big puddle of mustard to dip them in, luckily there is no one around to witness it!! I suppose it could be worse i could be dipping bananas in it

And seein as everyone is adding each other to MSN I thought i would give you mine [email protected] (bet you cant guess what my name is lol)

twelvedaysofchristmas · 01/12/2006 07:58

SOH I am appalled at that woman. How VERY dare she speak to you like that? And I hate it when stuff like that happens, particularly since you can never seem to think of a suitably viscious retort until hours later. That's almost more gutting than the original insult.

What sort of training course was it? Don't tell me it was "Dignity in the workplace" or something equally ironic?

Leg and bikini wax was ok, btw, LG&T. In the first 14 weeks I was pregnant I got waxed twice and was nearly crying with pain. It was worse than having it done the week before your period. It was fine last night though.

I think it was a mistake to choose my names so early. I'm going off them now. Tch.

Morning Ladies
I am trying to catch up witha all the posts at the minute so forgive me for not replying to anyone, just thought I would post an update.
I saw the consultant and a fellow and sonographer and a MW at QMC yesterday. The good news is T1 and T2 are actually measuring the same size. At the private scan T1 (with probs) was a lot smaller - it hasn't caught up just was not measured quite right. This is good as everyone we have seen has said it is not a good sign that 1 is so much smaller than the other, it looked the exomphalos was causing growth problems, which we now know it is not.
We have an amnio booked for the 18 December and should have the preliminary results back within 2/3 days. Not sure how I am going to manage to rest the week before Christmas with a 2 year old running around .
If all is well with the chromosones then we are on to have a detailed heart scan as this condition may be linked to heart defects.
All we can do know is sit and wait, we have discussed all the options and different scenarios we just need to have information which we can not get until the babies get to a certain size/age. We have been offered a good peadiatric surgeon and heart surgeon if that is what we need so feeling relatively positive after yesterday.
We had a great day on Wednesday as well, obviously we had told all the family our news but told them life has to carry on as normal for DD1 so we had a birthday tea with chocolate cake and candles and she had a great time. She was so good and took it in turns to play with everyones gifts so everyone felt pleased with what they had bought for her, definitley PMM all day.
She is so perceptive though on Tuesday as she was playing I was just sat crying and she came up and gave me such a big hug and said "so sorry Mummy, Mummy sad" I will have to get a grip and only lose it when she is not around.
Thank you so much for your support, it really helps.

Juicylucythe2nd · 01/12/2006 09:07

CM - what great news. It must be really hard not to worry about the amnio, but try and enjoy the news that your babies are growing well. So pleased for you. Was thinking about you yesterday and sending positive vibes (along with lots of others here on MN!). Fingers crossed for the amnio xx

SOH - so pi**ed off for you. You should have dropped your coffee on her in the break, and put it down to pg clumsiness. COW!!

Pebble - Poor you. Hope you're starting to feel better soon.
Pebble / April - pelvic floor exercises girls. You know we gotta do them. I am having occasional, ahem, moments, and the midwife gave me that stern look when we spoke about it. But who remembers or has time to do them??

LG&T - Postman arrived yet? I have an image of you with your nose glued to the window like a 5 year old waiting for Santa

twelvedaysofchristmas · 01/12/2006 09:09

That sounds so much more positive charleymouse. I'm really glad for you. x

Will you have some help at home after the amnio? You'll need to rest.

Morning everyone!

Great news charleymouse, i now you still have a long way to go before you know anything for definate but it seems as though everyone is being as helpful as they can and you have some good consultants on hand. Your dd sounds lovely (brought a tear to my eye)and im glad she had a good birthday

Ive woken up with a feeling that im suposed to be doing something today but for the life of me i havent a clue what it is. I havent got any appointments or anything and im pretty sure ive not arranged to meet anyone but i cant shake the feeling that im supposed to be going somewhere. I even woke Dh up to ask him but apart from going to MIL's to drop a tool off (her car still isnt fixed) he hasnt got anything planned. I know its going to bug me now and i bet I'll remember what it was when its about 5pm and too late to do it Bloody pregnancy brain!!
