Sagil12 · 03/09/2015 15:11

Hello everyone, I have been meaning to join the forum for quite sometime but dint get a chance till today. This forum looks like a very friendly , genuinely concerned forma and has been quite enlightening.
Hope things work out well for all going through a difficult patch.

I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and had quite a tough first trimester with long working hours and running around constantly with no breaks and lack of enough sleep in the night. Around 10 weeks I developed tail bone pain which was quite severe one night and woke me up in the middle of the night. A bit of researching told me that although not common in first trimester, it can happen due to prolonged standing etc.
The severe episodes terminated with a bit of rest , but even now I get episodes of pain when I sit on hard chairs or stand for long.

Has anyone else experienced coccydynia, commonly called as tail bone pain?

Ohjellybelly · 03/09/2015 15:35

Oh Charlotte, I'm so sorry to hear your news. What a worrying time for you.

There is still hope, lots of it, so hold on to that thought.

I'm on the final little countdown before the kids return to school tomorrow. I have loads to do but just can't muster up the energy to do it.
I lay in bed, wide awake last night, completely unable to drift off. Of course, I'm shattered today.

I received my scan date in the post today. Late pm on the 22nd sept. I cannot wait. I will not be finding out the sex. I have absolutely no interest in finding out this time, not even a teeny bit curious. DP isn't either so it's going to be easy to request not to know. I just hope that I don't happen to catch a glimpse of anything. After 4 babies and oodles of scans, I sort of know what I'll be looking at if I happen to see it.

NoMontagues · 03/09/2015 16:43

Hi sagil , welcome! Smile

I haven't experienced pain in my coccyx specifically but I do find that any sort of prolonged standing gives me all sorts of aches and pains. Actually everything gives me all sorts of aches and pains! My hips are the main culprits.

Happytimes2 · 03/09/2015 16:47

Hope he/she has their legs crossed jelly! I'll hoping to find out gender I've got mw appt nxt week it's my 16w app and ill be 19 with cos of being away and work! Then got scan on 23 rd I feel like such a kill joy when family and friends are getting excited about scans but I point out it's to look for abnormalities! I'll have another scan at 28 and 34 weeks cos pappa 1 (think that's what it was called) was low.

Welcome sagil

RhiPea · 03/09/2015 17:53

Hi sagil I had coccyx pain from about week 8 that rendered me immobile at times (I once had to just stand in the hallway for an hour and a half due to the shooting pain every time I moved!) it self resolved around 12 weeks. I now have a trapped nerve instead...Hmm I'm also a nurse doing 12 hour shifts!
Other than that I'm still having no symptoms- but heard the hb with the mw today so I'm happy. My husb wants to know the sex but I don't- so I'm trying to talk him round by the scan on 22nd!
Love to all those having hard times xx

birdbrain21 · 03/09/2015 18:04

Sorry for those going through a hard time and welcome newbies Flowers

I have scan 1 week today, hopefully will find out this time we didn't with dd and I was convinced she was a boy!

Had first day back at teaching yesterday. I've never been very into alcohol bit my gosh I could have done with a glass of wine cup of tea when I got back just wasn't the same after first day, I have 3 different classes this year!

jellypi3 · 03/09/2015 18:04

Welcome sagil.

rufus good news!

Anyone else's bump quite high? Mine is which I find odd because baby is around belly button at this stage isn't it

OP posts:
RattyCatty · 03/09/2015 20:50

Welcome sagil

jelly I don't really have a bump but my tummy has def shifted upwards... I think this is the insides pushed up by stomach muscles?! Or old wives tale of a girl!

Rufus200 · 03/09/2015 21:52

jelly I'm biggest under my ribs and around my belly button but it isn't baby! Baby is really low with the Doppler, still in the pelvic area. It is probably that enlarged uterus has pushed my intestines up coupled with my excess weight gain. I keep on fondly patting my belly but I'm just cuddling my podge not the baby.

madsaz76 · 03/09/2015 22:01

I have a high bump which is fat and gut - with fundal height at the belly button. I think everything is just deciding where sit right now. Slightly daunted about where the spare tyre will go when baby gets really big.

Welcome Sagil. I have plenty of coccyx pain - have just ordered some memory foam cushions to have in the car and the office at work. I am predominantly on my feet - but prolongued sitting hurts, prolongued standing hurts & I am currently aiming for a bit of both with movements. On the plus side I have found a quiet room I can do some Yoga in when its too bad, and have referred to a physio today so waiting to see if there is something that will help.

goldmaple · 04/09/2015 03:14

charlotte so sorry that you have this worrySad. Sorry, I know that's an understatement. Can they book a c section really early? Or do anything??

mads jelly my bump is really really high. Not sure what it's made out of (baby is low)

sagil I had coccyx pain after DD1. It was never debilitating but riding a bike etc... Still cause a fair bit of pain. Not sure if that is the same thing, just not very severe?

Looks like the last two weeks in September will be full of scans!! Can't wait!!

jellypi3 · 04/09/2015 08:05

Glad it's not just me with a high bump then! I feel like a fraud because where baby is isn't that big but above it is massive lol! I do still love my bump tho.

Sweetcharlotterose · 04/09/2015 08:08

No there's nothing that can be done, they can't repair the cord. Sometimes they put you on bed rest and deliver really early. The cord can stop delivering enough nutrients and oxygen to the baby too.
Went back to work yesterday - am a TA - and everyone was congratulating me (although some were unsure if I was pregnant or just a bit fatter as still no real bump) and I found I really awkward because I kept thinking 'there might not be a baby at the end of this.' It's only just over a week until I see the consultant obstetrician for a scan to see how bad it is but it feels like forever.
Still not feeling her move.

NorthernChinchilla · 04/09/2015 09:06

Banana, so pleased re the results, and fingers crossed everything else goes smoothly.

I'm so sorry to hear your news Charlotte, and understand that it's going to be a stressful next few months. Hopefully you'll get a better idea of the severity or otherwise, and also a plan of action following the consultation next week. It may be that you end up meeting your new baby this side of Xmas instead.

Hope yesterday went as well as these things can Haquoi.

Very little to report here- busy work time as I have to work the next two Saturdays and two late evenings over the next ten days or so, which won't exactly help on the 'taking it easy' plan Hmm
Am going to do the baby plan book- chart out all the things that will need to be organised/decorated/bought over the next five months, and map it out. Always scary as you suddenly realise that you have about four spare weekends to get everything done once you've taken account of family visits, birthdays, Xmas, holiday, etc!

clumsypots · 04/09/2015 16:15

sending Flowers Charlotte hopefully they will give you an action plan to put your mind at rest soon.

Saw the registrar last week and he has finally reduced the clexane so only 1 injection a day now woohoo! Hopefully the random bleeding and bruising will soon start to disappear although still have to take the asprin.

Has anyone else suddenly lost their appetite? I have gone from eating loads to eating hardly anything at all now.

monkerina · 04/09/2015 16:39

Clumsy, I'm definitely not as hungry as I was- up til a fortnight ago I was crying by 6pm if DH wasn't home cause I was SO HUNGRY and we like to eat together Blush but not so much any more!

My stomach is really hurting today- feels like I've done hundreds of sit ups! Maybe it's my (already pathetic) stomach muscles giving up? Anyone else feel like this?

XingXingFox · 04/09/2015 19:41

banana I'm so pleased for you.

charlotte that must be worrying. My SIL has the same thing and if it's any comfort she's very nearly at term. I've become really anxious recently irrationally so, I decided to buy a couple of bits for the baby as now is the innocent time before anything has gone wrong and you'll always have this time. I hope that doesn't sound really crass. Take one day at a time and I really hope the action plan makes you feel more in control.

How are you doing now hacquoi? And rufus? What did the dermatologist say?

Those of you with tail bone issues and headaches (I've been having both) I have a pregnancy massage with cranial therapy and it worked like a dream. Feel so much better than I have for ages. I have also decided I really need to sort my diet out. Have been feeling ill for so long I've barely looked at veg, going to try and make sure I have my five a day at least. If nothing else I just want to sort my skin out!

Welcome newbies!

Sweetcharlotterose · 04/09/2015 19:45

Xing do you mind me asking if they've monitored your SIL more carefully and if she's having a planned c-section?

Rufus200 · 04/09/2015 19:51

Had my derm appt today. I have perioral dermatitis which is a mix of eczema and acne in the same area. Very difficult to treat as eczema creams block the pores and make acne worse and acne creams dry out the eczema and split the skin leading to more infection. I was offered oral erythromycin which I turned down as although safe I don't like filling my body with antibiotics when not pregnant and this one has some horrible side effects, will take as a last resort. So been given erythomycin topical for my normal acne on my forehead and back and then finacea for my dermatitis. Going back in 3 weeks if not cleared up and probably have to take oral antibiotics but if I do a have a UTI then erythromycin is the drug of choice anyway.

clumsy I am still ravenous but getting really picky with my food and make myself something then won't eat it. I love something one week and then the next hate it. Today I treated myself to pancakes for lunch, except when they arrived I didn't want them and only had a bite, which saved my backside from growing!

XingXingFox · 04/09/2015 19:52

Yep, she's having a c-sec and has had increased scans, roughly every three weeks, but also extra trips to doctor for check ups as well as the usual midwife ones. I'm not sure why that is, I just know she seems to go a lot, her midwife has been very casual about it so we're not asking her too much to try not to freak her out, but she's only got 6 weeks to go now...

Sweetcharlotterose · 04/09/2015 20:07

I've got loads of scans anyway because I'm a type 1 diabetic. I'm not sure I can fit in many more appointments! I think I have 8 in September.
They have said the cord isn't low which is good I think. I'm worried as ds was early and I don't want to go into labour naturally if I even make it that far.

Sweetcharlotterose · 04/09/2015 20:07

Thanks Xing

madsaz76 · 05/09/2015 13:01

I am feeling so sorry for myself (sorry for being a misery guts)

I had a horribly busy week at work with too much time on my feet and now have really bad back and hip pain. I know the cause & know I am going to have to back off at work but today can't get comfortable - lying down makes back ache and sitting up hurts my coccyx.

Really need to see physio asap and will have to rethink my work strategy :(
