Morning all, so much is happening the last few days .. My thoughts are with those of you dealing with high stress levels atm .. From the sounds of it your doing a wonderful job of keeping things together for yourseld and your babies :) I do hope things improve for you.
I've got a definite bump now at 18 weeks .. I have a little extra padding and was worried I would have one for a while .. However I def look pregnant and not tubby which I though I would for a while!.. I had my first flutter y.day when on my break at work Smile I done my first 12 hour shift y.day since getting pregnant ... I had to go to my car on my break to sleep! .. I work in nursing and have found the last couple of weeks that things I used to be able to run around and do I really struggle with and yawn throughout! ... Sleep and napping is very much my friend atm.

I have a Doppler and have found it a huge reassurance lisenting to babys heartbeat between scans and appointments.. I love being able to hear baby move about aswell... Next scan on the 16th Grin

NoMontagues · 03/09/2015 07:34

bump my bump gets bigger through the day! My stomach muscles are rubbish having given birth 12 months ago. I really should have done more work on them before getting pregnant again. Oh well!

I honestly looked, last night, the same as I looked at about 8 months with my first Confused

Bumpasaurus · 03/09/2015 07:58

I think mine does aswell to be honest ... I've had such bad bloating and constipation ... Very uncomfortable at times .. I'm hoping it won't last all the way through this pregnancy I'm sure that's why i feel so exhausted sometimes.

Sweetcharlotterose · 03/09/2015 08:07

Banana - what a relief! That's great Smile

I do not have good news. I found that I have a velamentous cord which is apparently really rare. The midwife has seen it twice in 25 years. The cord isn't fastened properly to the placenta so comes away more easily. It's most dangerous in labour where the strength of contractions can pull it away. You have to have a c-section. However even if the pregnancy progresses it gets more risky as the baby can compress it cutting off oxygen and nutrients as it grows larger. It can just become weak and detach and apparently the baby then dies within two minutes from blood loss.
There's nothing they can do but scan me regularly to see how the cord looks and wait and see but let's put it this way - I'm not buying anything for this baby.

jellypi3 · 03/09/2015 08:22

Oh no charlotte I'm so sorry. How stressful for you. Keeping everything crossed that the cord stays in place long enough for the baby to be born.

gold my scan is on 14th. If they also say we are team pink I'm telling everyone it's a girl.

By the way I think I'm ready on join this fb group. Who do I need to pm?

I just feel like I'm waiting for the cord to detach and the baby to die. Sad
Got another scan in a week.

BananaRaces · 03/09/2015 08:38

Oh Charlotte that's so hard. Fingers tightly crossed for you and the baby. Be gentle with yourself. Flowers

Haquoi that sounds really awful. I'm glad everything was OK when you got to the hospital. Thinking of you. Flowers

Carltonlives · 03/09/2015 08:54

Hey everyone, sorry I've been gone so long. I've had a nightmare trying to log in and resetting passwords and my app wouldn't work for ages and it was only when someone on the fb group said the app was down I thought I would use the mobile page! Doh

Anyway, glad to be back, I have been keeping up to date with the fb group but only read back the last few pages on here.

Hope everyone's well, charlotte I'm sorry you are going through such a stressful time, I really hope everything works out for you. Also thinking of you today haquoi, this must be so hard for you esp with the stress of this pregnancy too.

My bump has popped loads over the last week or two! (17+3 today) I look actually pregnant and have been feeling movements and braxton hicks too, although I'm certain I didn't feel braxton hicks until well into my third tri last time so that's weird.

Anyone got any good recommendations for a maternity coat? I didn't need one last time as dd is an August baby but think I will this time and I want to get it early so I can get he most wear out of it as I can Smile

My scan is 3 weeks today!! Counting down now and want to get shopping!

Carltonlives · 03/09/2015 08:55

jellypi you need to pm islamann for the fb group (which everyone should totally join btw!)

Rufus200 · 03/09/2015 09:14

haquoi hope you are ok today

Can anyone tell me what their cervix feels like? Mine has gone really soft and is open at the centre, much more then when I was ovulating, early pregnancy it was really hard and completely closed, is this normal or not?

clarabellski · 03/09/2015 09:15

Welcome back Carlton, we must be due date buddies as I'm also 17w3 today!

Banana it was great to log in this morning and see your news, and its great that they confirmed so quickly!

Thinking of you Charlotte Flowers

jellypi3 · 03/09/2015 09:18

rufus cant help you there ive not checked mine since before my bfp

OP posts:
Rufus200 · 03/09/2015 09:24

Trying to get hold of my Dr as all my pregnancy books have been very unhelpful! I've just remembered that Dr said she couldn't scan my cervix at 16wks because my bladder wasn't full enough and she offered me an internal but you should have seen DH's face so I declined, wish I hadn't now.

RattyCatty · 03/09/2015 09:28

charlotte sending you hugs - would you get any symptoms to tell you something is happening? I'm glad they are giving you extra scans.

rufus I have no idea about my cervix I'm afraid - always been rubbish at that.

gold my scan is also in week 21 on 24th Sept. Will look into a Doppler!

RattyCatty · 03/09/2015 09:30

Also - I think (I'm not 100%) that occasionally I can feel the baby. But often when I'm lying on my back I can feel a really heavy pulse in my belly? Is that the placenta or just general blood flow as I know that increases in pregnancy?

Phoenix80 · 03/09/2015 09:30

I'm 17+3 today too Grin. My scan is 3 weeks tomorrow (25th Sept)

I'm at the hospital at 1.30pm today to see mw's, obstetrics and gestational diabetes people. They warned me last time that I'd be there a while today Sad. Last time I was there I was waiting nearly 3 hours to see the diabetes Drs Shock and to make things worse I had my ds' with me so at least it's just me bored stiff today if I'm there all afternoon.

Charlotte so sorry to hear your news, fingers crossed for you x

Haquoi hope you're doing ok x

haquoi123 · 03/09/2015 10:28

Charlotte I'm so sorry to hear your news. I have everything crossed for you and your baby. Unsolicited advice, so feel free to completely ignore it as you will deal with this in the way that helps you - but try to keep hold of the fact that there is still hope. There is still hope. And also embrace the pessimism in a positive way - try to create/ shore up as many memories now as you can. Buy little things and keep it in a box. Anything to do with this baby, collect. This is how I've been coping. It might not work for you so ignore if you need to. I hope you have support around you and feel free to pm me xxx Flowers

monkerina · 03/09/2015 11:19

Charlotte, there's still hope that all will be fine x Cake

Rufus, I've not dared touch my cervix since BFP for fear of disrupting things so can't help! (DH was also shellshocked by my early internal scans-I ignored his face and went ahead, don't think he'll ever get over it)

16 weeks today, 20 week scan on the 2nd October. Can't wait!

CalypsoLilt · 03/09/2015 11:25

So so so sorry charlotte, sending love and hope to you Star

whenever I need positive thoughts, I watch "The Secret" on Netflix, works every time Brew Biscuit

Rufus200 · 03/09/2015 11:47

Sat in the waiting rooms, been squeezed in but the Dr has just run past for an emergency so may be a while. Cramps are getting more and more frequent.

Rufus200 · 03/09/2015 13:08

All is well. Cervix is 4 cm, apparently the outside bit that we can feel does go all soft and squishy so is completely normal in case anyone has a feel of their own. Had a swab and urine culture. Either I have an irritable uterus or a silent UTI which is causing all the cramps. Dr did tell me I look terrible and she is worried about me, seeing the dermatologist tomorrow about my acne.

CalypsoLilt · 03/09/2015 13:11

does that mean you are 4cm dilated??

CurlyA · 03/09/2015 13:33

Phoenix, Clarabell and Carlton i'm also 17+3 today! Grin.
My scan is on 22nd Sept.
Still discussing arguing with DH as to whether we find out the gender (I want to but he doesn't)!

Not really showing much yet but all my clothes are too small. I'm currently doing the hair bobble in the jeans button hole trick to extend the life of my jeans a bit longer. Not that comfy when sat down at work though!

Charlotte so sorry to hear your news. Everything crossed for you.
Haquoi I hope you and your DH/DP are ok today. Flowers

Rufus200 · 03/09/2015 13:37

calypso no 4cm thick and closed

BadgieBear · 03/09/2015 14:12

banana what fab news - I'm so pleased for you! Also glad to hear that all is well with you rufus although it sounds like you need some tlc Cake

charlotte I'm sorry to hear things aren't straightforward for you. I hope you are looking after yourself - sending you lots of lovely positive thoughts Flowers

I saw the midwife this morning and heard the heartbeat (yay!). The little rascal kept kicking the probe. Nice to be reassured there is a baby in there and I'm not just a crazy vomiting woman...
