Well done calypso!

I have managed to burst a blood vessel under the skin with my injection this morning. The swelling is still getting worse and I did my injection 12 hours ago. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the pain and/or swelling?

Try frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel clumsy - hope improves!

Good luck to those with scans this week!

Good morning everyone

Flowers to those having a difficult time just now.

Rufus, I'm not sure about the care in your area, but where I am, they have a specific maternity physio team that you can self refer to if the back/hip pain is getting to be too much to handle on your own. Perhaps you could check with your midwife if there's a similar service where you are?
I had it pretty bad between weeks 12 - 16 then it seemed to go away of its own accord. I'm hoping it doesn't come back....

I can't remember who mentioned kicks getting stronger. I agree! I don't think it will be long before I will be able to feel them from the surface. As well as the kicks, there's also a really disconcerting feeling which I think is when it is completely changing its position (like rolling over or doing a cartwheel - I can only describe it as like feeling like having a smear test in the inside of your stomach Blush

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 28/09/2015 09:31

Well, I officially give up on sleep. Its been weeks since I slept for more than 90 mins at a time, I'm permanently exhausted Sad The frustrating thing is that my meds (until I got pregnant) have always, always given me a decent 6-8 hour stretched of sleep every night. Urgh.

NorthernChinchilla · 28/09/2015 09:46

Haquoi I get that pain, often if I stand up too quickly or try to change position in bed. Really makes you gasp doesn't it!

You sound like you've been really brave and clear-headed in a tough situation Calypso. Awful that you've had to deal with it, but definitely sounds for the best. Grab all the support you can from family/friends/colleagues/neighbours, sure everyone will help as much as they can.

Am currently waiting to go into the Birth Options Clinic, be interesting to see how this turns out....

BananaRaces · 28/09/2015 09:51

Standing ovation for Calypso - well done you strong lady you!!! Star Happy is right, his reaction proves you did exactly the right thing by asking him to leave.

Haqoui that horrible stretchy feeling is definitely going on here too... ergh!

I have finally been feeling what might be the baby moving over the last couple of days, kind of like bubbles popping, but it's not strong enough yet for me to be sure.

My 20 week scan is in just under 2 hours time = EEEK!!!! Confused I'm so nervous after the less-than-great 12 week scan... For some reason that's making me think something will go wrong with this one. Must keep sensible head on...

BananaRaces · 28/09/2015 09:52

Oh TillITook that's so hard. Can you nap during the day at all?

Sighing · 28/09/2015 11:11

Thinking of you bananaraces.

CalypsoLilt · 28/09/2015 11:37

fanny daggers today!

is everyone still thinking I should invite him to the scan tomorrow?

if so I will drop him a text today and say when and where it is and say to meet him in the waiting room?

RattyCatty · 28/09/2015 12:06

Good luck banana!

calypso I would tell him when your scan is, then leave it up to him whether he comes?

tilltook my sleeping isn't great either, how much are you getting? I'm find getting to sleep but then wide awake from 3/4 each morning?

MaryEllen1 · 28/09/2015 12:17

Hi everyone, just back off holiday so not been on. Am jealous of all these scan pictures as mines not for two weeks yet! Bump has suddenly popped out with people noticing itSmile

Hope everyone is well x

CalypsoLilt · 28/09/2015 12:58

Every time I think about him being there my heart starts pounding, maybe it's just too soon to see him. This is proper shite :(

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 28/09/2015 13:18

ratty About 3-4 hours maximum per night Sad I've always had insomnia to some degree since being a teen, but the last few years due to meds I've been getting 6-8 hours so I feel like I've been hit by a truck, although I'm expecting to not sleep for at least 2 years once baby is born Grin

banana I could, but I can't. I've gone back to bed/laid on the sofa several times and ended up in the same old, same old gawping at the ceiling for hours, I have real issues getting to and then staying asleep.

Calypso He doesn't have to be there. Remember: this is your body, your appointments, he doesn't have any "rights" to be at them, you are under no obligation to have him there at all.

BananaRaces · 28/09/2015 13:50

The scan was OK!! Placenta is anterior but not low, everything working OK, cord looks good, baby a good size. So bloody relieved! We are still team yellow. Hopefully I have managed to upload a picture. Smile

Congrats banana!

I went swimming today and oh my, I couldn't use my tummy makes and my back muscles got really tense and unhappy! I feel like such a useless lump sometimes, please tell me it isn't just me... I managed to do some floating, which calmed some of it down

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 28/09/2015 18:57
