Good luck jellybelly

I don't know whether this will help/terrify some (particularly as many of us are having our mid-pregnancy scans around now), but I caught a really interesting programme on Beeb 2 last night about how humans develop in the womb (like how we end up with whatever colour skin, personality, sex, face). It was really fascinating if anyone wants to watch it on iplayer:

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06dsmn1/countdown-to-life-the-extraordinary-making-of-you-2-against-the-odds

Mawsymoo · 22/09/2015 15:54

Best of luck with all the scans! Congrats on yours Maisie.

Calypso my DH and I had lots of fights over little things when we first moved in together. We were both so used to being selfish and only thinking about ourselves that it was hard to compromise on things. But as soon as the argument was over we apologised to each other and moved on and I think that's what's needed - and over the course of a few months we settled into our new lives and the arguments stopped. I hope you are okay - look after yourself and your bump.

All is okay with me at the moment except I'm having a lot of pain in my bum from sitting at a desk all day. I had the same thing the last time except it started a lot later - I still have a lot of working weeks Sad

MaisieDotes · 22/09/2015 16:21

Hope the scans went well curly and jellybelly Smile

calypso I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. I was on my own with DD for a long time. I'm sure you will make the decision that is best for you and your baby Flowers

RattyCatty · 22/09/2015 16:22

calypso I'm sorry you are going through such a difficult time. I always think that deep down you always know the best decision for you. You need to put your happiness, which will undoubtedly affect your little ones, first. Flowers

curly, jelly and haquoi hope scans went ok!

clara mine is on Thursday pm too. Extremely nervous too. I have been feeling prodding in the same place as you! Mainly in the evening when I'm lying down.

MaisieDotes · 22/09/2015 16:39

Oh haquoi sorry! I missed that you have your scan today too.

Best of luck! Smile

Just had a quick skim read -

Natal Hypnotherapy Effective Birth Preparation - I used it with DC3 and it helped me stay calm and focused. Using it again soon!

Calypso Flowers

Scan on 30th. Consultant last week wants me back at 28 & 34 weeks for growth scans and check ups.

Off to RTFT

Ohjellybelly · 22/09/2015 17:09

Hello.
Well the scan was fantastic. Baby was doing gymnastics which was lovely to see.
Everything is exactly where it should be and growing nicely. Because my placenta is only 2cm away from the exit route, I get another scan at 32 weeks. I'm not worried at all as this is something that has always happened with me and it does shift in the end. I however, get another baby photo shoot.

I'm still firmly in team 'haven't a clue' and wasn't even a little bit tempted to find out. Whether that changes by the next scan or not, we'll see

clarabellski · 22/09/2015 17:26

That's great jellybelly! Did you get a photo to take home with you (not asking to see it, just wondering if you got one, as our 12 week photo was a bit sh*t if I'm being honest, just looks like a smudgy photo of a cashew nut).

MaisieDotes · 22/09/2015 18:27

That's great news jellybelly , congrats! Smile

jellypi3 · 22/09/2015 18:30

Congrats Jellybelly :)

I got a photo at my 20 week :)

Hope the other scans have gone well.

madsaz76 · 22/09/2015 18:51

hi all. Had my 20 week scan yesterday but then couldn't update as the site was down.

Bubs distinctly unimpressed - spent much to the scan covering his/her face, kicking the probe and turning away. Made me feel bizarrely proud - I hate having my photo taken and took it as a "taking after mum moment". Glad we didn't want to know the sex because its extremely unlikely we would have been able to see. Being a geek I really enjoyed all the anatomy & got a couple of photos of the bit where you can see a face.

I then had cause to be really grateful for this thread - I don't know who it was that said they had missed an appointment because they hadn't known they were meant to book it. My appointments said USS only but was sure I was due to see a midwife so went to check - I was booked in for yesterday. NO letter sent, nothing in my notes and no one told me.

To make matters worse - despite being sat there someone then put my notes in the DNA box so I was sat in the waiting room at the very end of clinic - the receptionist had gone and I couldn't find anyone. I did get seen but made a real fuss to make sure they got rid of the DNA from my records - I would never miss an appointment & definitely don't want that in my notes.

IN summary - second episode of dodgy organisation from them - it's clear they couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel - so I made midwife go through whole pregnancy plan with me - mark all milestones & I will be managing the organisation myself. Trust no-one! Confused

haquoi123 · 22/09/2015 20:06

Congrats jellybelly & mad!

mad that is ridiculous! Glad you made a fuss!

My scan went perfectly, we have a healthy baby boy! He was absolutely adorable and we got to spend a long time looking at his face. Then I went to empty my bladder and had brown discharge. Right place to find it I suppose... So we are currently back in the maternity ward waiting to get checked over. Can't have enough of this place apparently!!

madsaz76 · 22/09/2015 20:14

hacqoui you really are having a roller coaster. Hope all well...

BadgieBear · 22/09/2015 20:34

Congratulations on the scans jelly, madsaz and haquoi and I hope all was fine with being checked up afterwards too haq - what a day for you!

I had my scan today too - we have a very wriggly and healthy little boy growing in there - we are over the moon, totally makes it worth all the vomiting Smile

RattyCatty · 22/09/2015 20:45

So pleased good scans haquoi and badgie :)

haquoi what have the ward said about brown discharge?

CarShare · 22/09/2015 20:51

congratulations to everyone who had their scan so far this week. Lovely to read about all the wriggly, naughty, camera shy babies Star

MayFlowers16 · 22/09/2015 20:52

calypso I'm so sorry you're going through such a hard time right now. I can't offer any advice, but I hope you are able to get through this.

Great to hear even more good scan news.

haquoi I hope you're ok, let us know.

Anyone else been struggling to get onto mn a lot recently?

CurlyA · 22/09/2015 22:31

All went well with my scan today too. Same as you OhJelly with the placenta placement so I get another scan at 32 weeks. Another boy here too! Well she said it was "more likely a boy than a girl"!

haquoi123 · 23/09/2015 06:36

Congratulations on all the scans!

I'm fine, just told to keep an eye out for any fresh bleeding, but otherwise all is well. They were only checking me out as the discharge was a new symptom and I'd been in the day before, and because of what happened with ds.

I'm feeling a bit shaken up this morning though - dreamed continuously last night night that I had bleeding and was going into labour, which kept being a good thing and then realising that i wasn't full term. I'm also so happy to be having a boy, but calling the baby a girl meant it was different from ds. Now he's a boy it's almost too close to home...

cremedecacao · 23/09/2015 07:02

Lovely to hear about all your scans Smile I'm getting nervous about my 20 week scan now. Wish I had a tele tubby TV tummy so I could see what was going on!

Thanks for advice about appointments. I rang GP and booked my 16 week scan (now 18 week scan...) for tomorrow.

RattyCatty · 23/09/2015 07:03

Congratulations on healthy scan curly - lots of boys! All being healthy tomo I've always thought I'm carrying a girl but I'm starting to doubt it now!

haquoi you are bound to be shaken up - the dreams will be your mind processing everything. Easy to say (I know) not to worry but all the signs & medical tests show your beautiful baby boy is healthy & doing well Flowers

Good luck to any with scans today.

MaisieDotes · 23/09/2015 07:40

Congrats curly !

haquoi I'm glad to hear all is ok with your little bean. Those dreams... how upsetting for you Sad I hope you can have a nice relaxing day today and give yourself a chance to process things.

jellypi3 · 23/09/2015 08:11

glad to hear baby is ok haquoi, try to chill today, the stress and worry can't be good for you.

i've got another scan tomorrow as part of a study i signed up to, which i'm glad about because i've been feeling baby move less yesterday than previous days.

MamaBerg · 23/09/2015 08:21

Hi all,
My boobs are deffo on a growth spurt at the mo. Need to get bra shopping this weekend!! They are also really warm the whole time and changing colour. Any advice on the best place for maternity bras??

Had my anaomaly scan Monday (19 weeks exactly) and all the news if great, just can't wait to feel BabyBerg move now.

Also is anyone else getting really weird ligament pains? I've had this one in my groin for a few days now making it quite painful to move my leg at times.

Can someone add me to the stats chart? I'm 30 and due 15th feb. very mild 1st trimester symptoms, just a bit of a sicky feeling and fatigue but all cleared up ages ago.

clarabellski · 23/09/2015 08:25

Morning everyone, lovely to read the great scan news. So many boys!!!!!!

Mayflowers I find that the site drops out quite a bit at the moment. I couldn't get on at all on Monday, and yesterday there were a couple of times I tried and it didn't work. Must be linked to that hacker issue a few weeks ago.
