Hello Melon - glad you're sticking here too :-)

Wynsey · 25/08/2015 21:12

Hi Everyone

I can't believe the December folk are still on thread 4!! And I can't believe there's a May thread already!!! That's crazy!! Got my 18 week Midwive apt tomorrow - I have NO idea what they do but I'm sure I'll find out hehe my scan is 2 weeks tomorrow. Cannot wait!!! Grin

Pay day today so I sat at 6am this morning ordering clothes from New Look and ASOS! So excited!!! I have a Hen night next weekend so if nothing suits, I think I'll try eBay was someone suggested. Such a good idea!!

I'm love Three Day Nanny!! I've got such good tips! I'm going to be awesome!! Hahahaha yeah right! I bet I'll do all the things I said I'd never do!

I'm glad I'm not the only one to not have bought anything yet! I'm far too scared! I think after my scan and I start feeling movement I'll relax. I'm such a worrier!! I just feel so normal - how can there be a baby in there?? Except for the tiny fact my bump is huge! Hehehe

I'm also really hot at night and I never used to be. I've not got any heartburn yet - was wondering when that's starts. Confused

Not keen on jumping ship to FB - I like it on here. It's different. thumbsup

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 21:17

elvi you have to download the Google Sheets app for it to work on your mobile. Bit of a pain! Let me know if no joy. I'm at King's too Smile

wynsey I literally just had to shut my laptop down to avoid spending any more on maternity clothes! I hope you find some nice things in your haul.

I'm on here and FB. Actually finding the latter quite nice but it's a bit too addictive having both. Think I might need to have some rules about only checking once a day or something...

impatientlywaiting · 25/08/2015 21:23

Tiny could you compromise and say to the pharmacist you'll take the 4 hours as holiday for now, so you still get paid for them, and then when your manager is back and you discus sit-ups get your 4 hours holiday back? Migh be a non-confrontational way to still get paid your proper hours?

brickiemum2 · 25/08/2015 21:30

Sorry but I hate hate hate the 3 day nanny. Totally not my style of parenting lol.
Tiny do you work for any sort of chain or have a payroll department? If there is anyone higher than the pharmacist to speak to them I would. I would also make it clear that comments about your hormones are discrimination and sexist and you don't expect to hear any such nonsense again.

BeeMyBaby · 25/08/2015 21:40

lily I've never made a list and never known anyone to make a list. It's obviously up to you and probably very different in London compared to where I live but I would have found it a bit cheeky tbh if someone requested that I buy from a list. I've never been given anything too bad, there were a couple of items I wasn't keen on so I gave them away at one of the baby groups I went to (a lot of them ask for unwanted baby clothes for other members and of course whenever I saw something I liked I took it).

BeeMyBaby · 25/08/2015 21:49

wynsey I'm not so keen on the three day nanny, I find the children a bit too agrevating. I preferred super nanny who did most of the same things and taught everyone the naughty step (best invention ever, no idea when it will stop being a deterrent though!) I admit that if I didn't watch that when I was younger then I would be smacking my DDs instead, I'm very thankful that there is an alternative without just allowing my girls to run riot.

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 21:52

all the people higher and in payroll are away on a business trip for 10 days so we have no one higher at the moment. I'm gonna say something to the big boss when I next see him about the comments made as I agree it's discrimination.

I'm lying in bed with my OH worrying crazy over me, I have the lovely glamorous uti thrush and the most glamorous one of all time...piles. I've thrown up twice and have a headache. I feel so sorry for myself OH hasn't got a clue what to do with himself. I said let me just lie here crying I'm sure it'll help haha.

MissSMartin · 25/08/2015 21:53

Aww tiny Sad bless you x
anyone wise having a terrible time sleeping?
I wake up at least 2/3 times for a wee or for no reason but I can't remember the last time I slept through lol

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 21:55

Tiny what brickie said but also put it in writing to your manager with a copy to your boss. About both expecting to be paid for the time you're attending antenatal appointments (without delay) and also about the comments. Your employer is bound by law to act on both.

Hope you feel better after some downtime this evening x

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 21:56

bee I totally agree it sounds cheeky. I guess once I'm more organised I'll have an idea of what we need so can allocate things to those people asking us specifically what we want (I'm making it sound like we have people lining up to give us gifts which definitely isn't the case!). It's not a case of dictating what people buy, but everyone seems to be asking what we actually need - and I don't have an answer yet!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 21:57

Cross post Tiny. Sorry to hear there's more to stop you relaxing. Have you seen your GP about the uti?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 22:26

lily I'm on both too, but back to work next week so not likely to be on either very much!

moonshine25 · 25/08/2015 22:36

I'm on both too! I didn't realise MN was back on till now...

Re the list - one of my friends did one on Amazon which seemed to work quite well but I'm just not sure I like the idea of asking for things? What do people normally do?

Feeling baby move quite a lot today, still only when resting but don't think it'll ever get old!

Tiny, really hope you're ok!! I was the same the other night in floods of tears and a good sleep helped me. Thinking of you!

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 22:40

I went walk in so I got amoxicillin to dose myself up on, horrible feeling like this :(

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 22:45

Aww Tiny rest up and let DP spoil you. Take care.

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 22:48

I told him to go do whatever he wants as I'm. not much use tonight. I went if I need you I'll get you. No point him worrying over nothing.

coffeenut · 26/08/2015 00:53

tiny that sounds awful. I hope the uti clears quickly. Pregnancy can be so uncomfortable!

lily I have a few friends who have organised a baby register in the past - usually to coincide with a baby shower or the baby's birth. To be honest though,I've never used one to buy a gift and I think most people will get you clothes and small toys, maybe some blankets, wraps and towels. Family might/will give you money for the bigger things.

Wynsey Ive just bought some bits too. The weather is starting to warm very slightly and I've realised my summery tops are too clingy. Went into h&m and the few things I tried on were rubbish (ie the cotton trousers fit my legs/bum but the bump band was too tight for my bump! And the maternity top was like a tent). Bought a top from asos instead, will link to it if it's any good. Also a few bits from a local maternity chain.

missmartin I haven't slept the whole night for about 6 years Wink

looking my baby had a quiet day yesterday (21 weeks + 3) too. He was flipping around a lot the day before, so I just assumed like you that he had changed position.

welcome elvi! Nice to see some new faces as I think many will disappear to fb now. Wah.

Seems there will be a baby boom in jan 2016. I now know 4 others in RL due in Jan!

coffeenut · 26/08/2015 00:55

Just rethinking though lily ... one of the best gifts we received was a very generous basket of gifts from DH's colleagues - included a room thermometer, a baby monitor (!) and a travel change kit. So maybe would be worth it to put a list together of small items that would be helpful to receive ....

lilyb84 · 26/08/2015 08:45

Thanks coffee, I think I'll do an informal list so when people do ask I have something to offer Smile

My super early start yesterday and then very late night (ironically couldn't sleep) have completely wiped me out. Working from home even though the tube strike was cancelled as I just can't face the commute or the office. So lame these days! 18+5

tinyme135 · 26/08/2015 09:29

I wish I could work from home haha. Can't moan just two more days then got a three day weekend Grin

trying to get OH to go to the babies store on my dinner but he won't have it. No fair haha

kep1979 · 26/08/2015 09:49

I'm on both too - need my fix of both and weirdly feel less guilty about being on mn at work than I do about FB

tiny sorry you are having a shit time - I agree with the others, definitely put your intentions in writing, agree to nothing with you useless line manager and take up the problems with HR/big boss when you are able. It makes me so angry that companies can be so shit and pile on the stress when we are pregnant!.

Welcome elvi

I had my first night out for ages last night and had total clothing meltdown before I went. Felt huge in everything rather than just bump-y.... going to have to CBT myself a lot I think 'cause I still felt the same today. Resisted the urge to get on the scales as think that would only have made me feel worse. Dh was amazing though, he genuinely thinks I look beautiful at the moment, said I am carrying our daughter and that makes me even more lovely Blush It is the first time this pregnancy that I've felt worried that my demons of the past might raise their ugly heads. I will speak to midwife when I next see her if I still feel the same, although that is not for 5 weeks!

MissSMartin · 26/08/2015 11:58

I feel pretty big aswell! kep now i know what you look like hehe. .you are gorgeous and definately not huge! you have a beautiful bump and should be a proud mama Smile try not to let it get you down x

I try not to let it get my down as I think.. wow! I'm actually growing a human in my belly Grin
wynsey I don't know how you have resisted.. I have everything! down to a room temp and johnsons baby wash lol.. the only thing I want to buy now is a baby playmat.

tinyme135 · 26/08/2015 12:43

manager has been so much better today and we had a little biatching session on annoying patients to make me feel better haha. luckily we're quiet and I've got to count 2500 prescriptions so he's leaving me to it :)

and I bet none of your ladies look horrible at all. Bet you all have nice bumps coming/showing and are actually glowing. (if any of you are glowing please tell me how it feels as I look a pale as anything haha)
