New thread - wouldn't let me write on the last one Smile

romeo sorry about your dd hope it heals well. I used to get lots of heartburn, apples were the the main cause for me so I've given up eating quite a bit of fruit as the pain wasn't worth it. Rennies are also fine to take.

Just had the most Confused question from one of my mums friends this weekend. Instead of the usual when are you due she asked "when did you conceive?"

Sweetpea80 · 24/08/2015 08:20

Romeo hope your DD is feeling alright and her head heals soon. I'm sure the scar will fade over time.

Dino what a strange question to ask someone but it has made me laugh on a Monday morning. How did you reply?

I've had a couple of evenings with heartburn but went away quit quickly. I thought it was too early for heartburn as I'm sure I've only ever had it in late pregnancy before.

I've joined the FB group too and hoping it will be easier to keep track than MN but I'll try to do both.

Hope everyone has a good Monday. No Monday morning blues this week for me as I've got the day off to take DD3 to her annual cardiac check up at the hospital. Fx it's all good and no further surgery for a few years yet. I know the time is coming where they will want to operate again but I'm hoping it's not going to be this year.

lilyb84 · 24/08/2015 08:25

Hope your DD's check-up is a positive one, sweetpea.

I'd also love to know how you replied dino! Definitely an odd one...

moonshine25 · 24/08/2015 08:36

Good luck with the check up sweetpea, fingers crossed for you!

Haha Dino how did you react?!

We spent the car journey yesterday trying to whittle down names and we now have a top 5 haha. Still no closer to deciding and all we really succeeded in doing was adding 2 more to the list! I just find it such a big responsibility to name our child - is that silly? Also everyone will have an opinion and I'm one of those people that worry what people think....

19 weeks today!!

dinosaurdaughter · 24/08/2015 09:28

I really wanted to say my hubby's birthday bonk but I wimped out and just said April.

Names are so difficult and I agree it is such a huge responsibility some people know straight away and sometimes you won't decide until you atually meet your baby.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 24/08/2015 09:44

dino you should have!

20 weeks today, Happy Halfway Point to me! Scan tomorrow...

Romeo hope she's ok. Put some bio oil on that scar once it's closed - works for my sports team - can barely see their scars now.

I've had heartburn on and off since the beginning. Curry doesn't help. Contrary to Aloha, a nice cold drink soothes it for me, especially if it's chocolate milk Grin. Also avoiding fruit juice and not eating for an hour before bed. Then munching Rennies if all else fails.

AlohaMama · 24/08/2015 10:06

dino what did she expect, a full description of the time and place??!

moonshineit is tricky choosing names. looking at the baby names threads on here, i'd say dont' ask there as people seem to be really rude about names, much more so than you'd expect the general population to be in real life. there also seems to be an obsession with having something totally unique and not in the top 100. these days there are so many names about that even if you've got a top 20 name it's still only something like 1 in 100 children, so the chances of having 5 in a class are pretty slim.

good luck with your dd sweetpea

Blackandwhitecat3 · 24/08/2015 10:12

I find it weird that people keep asking what names we're thinking of. Why oh why would we tell people now even if we'd actually decided on one?

Exactly 20 weeks today, to the hour, I was "going under" at the IVF clinic for egg collection. I can't quite believe it all worked!

Had to trim my "talons" again this morning, amazing how fast they're growing. Suddenly felt very proud of my body, growing this little being inside. My hormones are obviously on a roll this week.

Lookingforadvice123 · 24/08/2015 11:08

romeo hope your dd is ok!!

I've been waking up every single night sometime between midnight and 2am, and taking AGES to get back to sleep! I was boiling and dripping with sweat when I woke up in the middle of last night, despite having a fan on all night! Anyone else notice they're hotter in the night? I'm usually a cold person!

Movements wise, we're not supposed to worry about reduced movements until later are we? I'm 21+2 and baby has been quieter the last couple of days, he's still moved/kicked but they're a lot less than the last week and seem softer also. Suppose he could've moved towards the back of the uterus?

Cot and changing table set is being delivered today Smile it won't be set up for a long time as we still have a double bed in what will be the baby's room which needs shifting!

DotterP · 24/08/2015 11:56

Hi all - also just catching up post-hackergate.

B&W totally with you on the talking about names thing. So far my experience of talking to people about names is they make judgemental comments about the names you like, or they suggest names (sometimes with a family link) and then are offended if you don't really like or consider them! I'm finding it easier to keep it quiet at this stage, even though it is one of the first questions people ask. Maybe when we have a definite shortlist I'll share with a few close friends and family.

Was there an earlier convo about alcohol? I'm mostly abstaining and making do with the odd sip of DHs ale or wine if I fancy it. But for the last week or so I have had real alcohol cravings! Good alcohol free beer (Bavaria and Erdinger are my faves so far) have helped. But last weekend my friend made me an amazing sangria with alcohol-free red wine and it was sooo good. The alcohol free wine on it's own is pretty ropey, but in sangria it was delicious. I hardly felt like I was missing out. If only I could find a nice alcohol free fizz to replace prosecco, I'd be all set for the next 4-5 months!

Will join the FB group as will probably find it easier to keep track of that.

17+6 No movement yet, but anterior placenta.

lilyb84 · 24/08/2015 12:00

dotter apparently sainsbury's do a nice alcohol free fizzy wine...

EdgarAllenPoe · 24/08/2015 12:32

I think I've sent a friend request to the right person on fb. Who knows. I sent a message too so she knows it's not a random stalker.

I am cream-crackered. Spent the weekend up a stepladder painting my bedroom ceiling and walls and my thighs are killing me!

frozenfairy123 · 24/08/2015 13:02

Hi Edgar I've added everyone that has asked so far? Pm me if u haven't been added yet x

ValancyJane · 24/08/2015 13:08

black That's a nice milestone today then, I didn't realise you'd had IVF! We also keep getting asked about names, but are not telling anyone. We do have a girls name chosen (my second favourite, though I'm still annoyed OH called my first choice name a 'old lady name) but are still debating a boy's name, can't seem to agree on one so being team pink would solve that issue!! We've chosen not to tell people mainly because we don't want to invite opinions (not that our girls name is particularly unusual or anything).

dotter I've not had the alcohol substitutions yet (might get a bottle of alcohol free fizzy for Christmas or something) have just been going nuts with 'posh lemonades' like Fentimans or similar! It's become a bit of a challenge for OH when we're in a pub to "find me something exciting that isn't just lemonade". It's sad how pleased dandelion and burdock or an appletiser can make me nowadays!!

Have been feeling some definite movements yesterday and today, just fluttering or the odd 'pulse' quite low down. It's quite nice to feel, though am sure the novelty will wear off when I'm being elbowed in the ribs at 3am further down the line! Smile

Yokyil · 24/08/2015 13:57

kep have had heartburn from very early on - will get it for a few days on the trot then it will go away for a few days then hit back with a vengeance again! Confused it's grim! The gaviscon double action chewy tablets have been my go to-the doc also prescribed omeprazole as well, but I'm literally only taking that when it's unbearable (have had 1 of the tablets this last 10 weeks)
I feel like a glorified moan - getting sick of listening to myself at times Blush

Yokyil · 24/08/2015 13:59

Ahh valancy we've had definite movements this last couple of days and it's wonderful, Dh managed to feel yesterday morning and this morning little bean kicking away! I love it--having the anterior placenta means in not feeling as much so making the most of when I do Grin

Keep forgetting 20+3

Romeolovesjuliet · 24/08/2015 14:16

dino what an odd question!! People are so strange sometimes.
sweet hope all goes well for your DD.
aloha we are also focussing on 7 seaters but had a look at the maxi cost and britax websites last night and all of them said you couldn't put a seat in the middle seat of our top 3 cars eventhough the cars are big enough! Must be a safety thing. You can safely have them in the front seat though - not ideal but if we have to end up doing that with an adult in the back I guess it's not the end of the world. Bit annoying when you're spending £££ though!
Movements have been much quieter the past few days for me - trying not to panic as I'm only 17+3 and I heard the heartbeat last week.

tinyme135 · 24/08/2015 14:17

We've picked a name for our lite boy and I've got judge by it already. I turned round to them and said look, he's not your child I decide what name we're having you have no say whatsoever. They always hate my response.

Went out with the MIL yesterday and got our pram :) unfortunately she caused so much drama and I didn't enjoy it now I'm just miserable from it all.

Nightfall1983 · 24/08/2015 14:44

Wanted to share with people who will understand: just had a call from the Hospital cancelling my scan for this Thursday and rescheduling for 7th September - that's ages!! I'll still only be 21+1 so it's not a problem and I've had tonnes of scans (8) with the last less than 2 weeks ago so I can't complain but I was looking forwards to seeing my baby girl again!

PS we've probably picked our name :)

Nightfall1983 · 24/08/2015 14:45

PS fine to have a rear-facing child seat in the front seat as long as you can turn off the airbags, not ideal perhaps but still very safe x

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 13:12

Has anyone else only just been able to get on?

DotterP · 25/08/2015 14:12

tinyme Yes, only just able to get on, more DDOS attacks!

lilyB I am off to Sainsburys then!

Valancy I know the feeling - going to the pub is so much less enjoyable atm, and the drinks selection is so boring unless they do something a bit different. Had a Fentimans orange fizzy thing the other day, and that was really nice - not too sweet.

Nightfall sorry about your scan being postponed, I would be pee'd off too, but exciting about the name.

Anyone else find their morning sickness still comes and goes? I don't suffer everyday like I did for the first 15-16 weeks, but I have the odd day (like today) where it rears it's head again!

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 14:54

Woohoo, we're back! Poor old MN.

dotter I get occasional bouts of feelimg nauseous but at much more manageable levels. I have to say I'm counting myself among the lucky ones for this second trimester - yes I'm tired and yes I get some aches and pains but mostly I feel pretty good and the baby starting to move is making the first trimester fade into distant memory very quickly!

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 15:14

Dotter totally. I try to beat it down with food.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 15:16

For those not on FB (how many is that now btw?)

Our sonographer was ace, how about this for a scan photo. Boy or girl?
