New thread - wouldn't let me write on the last one Smile

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 15:35

I'm not on fb, long story short when I was on it (with my abusive ex) he got a group of girls to watch my fb posts and me and I got attacked both on fb and in person from it all. Since then I have stayed well clear from it as in my head I feel like my ex will stalk me again and try and ruin everything.

I'm getting more nausea now than I did in the first trimester. I can only stomach small things now which I think is making me feel more tired as I have no energy :(

b&w glad to hear that it went well, and I'm no good with guessing so I'm not even going to try haha xD

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 15:39

Sounds sensible then tiny.

Smile for your guess!

quick question about antenatal appointments and work. I told work Friday I was pregnant, I gave them my Matb1 form on Monday and I have an appointment on Thursday which I should be paid for to go to. my big boss and business manager is away on a business trip and my shop manager doesn't know the law for pregnancy. I pulled up my rights and and he went as he's not the manager he can't say yes or no all that jazz. so he went have it as unpaid half a day and when the big boss comes back they will reimburse those 4 hours I'll be gone. Can they do that or do I stand my ground and go no I'm getting paid for it?

Blackandwhitecat3 · 25/08/2015 16:08

Personally I'd email/print him the law off the directgov site and tell him you are expecting the company to honour the law and pay you for the hours.

But I don't know your company or your boss or this shop manager. But he should know the law (or at least be prepared to check it).

And I don't see why you should have to wait for your pay.

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 16:11

see I work in a pharmacy and my manager is just a pharmacist so he doesn't actually own the business or knows how it's ran. he went I can see on the government website that it says you are but as I don't deal with the money he can't say yes or no.

if they say no I can take them down for discrimination so I'll mention that to him too but he went I can have half a day paid for whenever I want it anyway once he understands what's going on.

I can see where he's coming from as all he is, is a pharmacist and not a business manager sorta thing but he should know something at least.

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 16:59

tiny that's annoying. As your line manager he should really be trained and equipped to handle this sort of thing - and indeed anything relating to HR and pay, within reason. I used to be a shop manager and it would have been within my remit. If he has the power to give you a half day unpaid then surely he also has the power to give you a half day paid, rather than going about it all backwards and giving you the pay back afterwards once he's checked it out? Are you paid a salary or hourly? It just seems a lot of hassle for something that should be pretty simple!

Hope you manage to get it sorted anyway Smile

brickiemum2 · 25/08/2015 17:01

Yes, the site has been down all day.

brickiemum2 · 25/08/2015 17:02

Whoops, only tiny' s post was showing there lol.

brickiemum2 · 25/08/2015 17:06

tiny I also used to be a shop manager and I would've known the law and how to implement it. If I was unsure I had phone hr support available so ignorance is no excuse. You are taking the time off and it will be paid. End of discussion Wink

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 17:21

I've tried everything, showing him the site and all that but he went he can't do nothing -.- and to top it off I've just had a patient tell me I'm doing my job wrong cause I put her in her place. telling me a pack of lies about the doctors, just want to sit in the corner and cry. stress is too much.

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 17:25

Oh and to be told I'm only getting this angry cause of my hormones. No it effin ain't my hormones. She lied to us told me I was wrong after I put her in her place and now I'm being told I'm only reacting like this cause of hormones. I think a box of chocolates is needed

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 19:04

Was it the patient or your manager telling you it's your hormones? If it's your manager that's just not on! I'm afraid customers can just be idiots though Grin

Posted this on FB but excited enough to share here too - got offered my first seat on the tube today! Yay bump!

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 19:08

my manager said it to me. I just told him where to go and I just sat there doing my work. Not been my day at all.

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 19:09

Sorry but what a dick. Hope you have a better evening. Are you on holiday soon?

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 19:19

so do I haha, yeah two weeks Saturday coming for a week. Can't wait :)

Nightfall1983 · 25/08/2015 19:26

tiny It's not your fault that he's 'not authorised'. All you need to do is inform him you'll be off and why - don't agree to having it unpaid, if he decides to do that and chase it up later then that's upto him, but don't agree to it because if you do and they later refuse to pay it could get complex. It's sort-of a situation for the old adage "it is easier to seek forgiveness than to ask permission"

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 19:38

Here's a question for you all. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to set up an online wish list for baby gifts so family / friends can buy us stuff (I'm talking smaller items rather than the big stuff). I've been asked by enough people that I thought it would be helpful, and save awkward situations where I end up asking specific people for specific things which I feel a bit uncomfortable about although more than happy to take their gifts. Have any of you done this with either this or a previous pregnancy?

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 19:48

I just give up with it I really do. and lily my nan said to do the same and I feel so cheeky about it, I'm not one to ask for things like that.

Elvi1 · 25/08/2015 20:01

Hi ladies, I've been following this forum from the start and have read your posts religiously every day...wasn't sure if I was ever going to post but now that a lot of the regulars have jumped ship to fb, I thought I'd better show some solidarity to those of you who have remained and try to boost the dwindling numbers - so glad that some of you have decided to stay!

Anyway....bit about me - we had a mmc in Dec followed by another early mc in Jan (think tried again too soon!), so we have been super nervous but over the weeks we've been feeling more confident things will he ok this time - starting to get little movements and have bump growing :-) 20 weeks tomo, but 20 week scan isn't until 8th sept. And I'm in London...

Hiiiiiiii x

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 20:21

Welcome elvi and congratulations! So sorry to hear of your mcs but lovely news that you're now just about halfway through this pregnancy.

There's a link to the stats at the beginning of the thread if you'd like to add yourself, or shout if you have any problems and I can add you!

I'm in London too, think there are a small handful of us (I may be exaggerating).

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 20:28

sorry to be a pain lily can you update mine for me please to team blue. I tried to it but wouldn't let me. thank you :D

lilyb84 · 25/08/2015 20:31

Done!

Elvi1 · 25/08/2015 20:41

Thanks lilyb84 - I'll try updating the stats when on a laptop (don't seem to work on mob) and I'll give you a shout if no luck.

Nice knowing there are some other Londoners on here - I with Kings.

tinyme135 · 25/08/2015 20:45
