Congratulations grapefruit :)

Grapefruit8 · 26/09/2015 22:10

Thank you, my nhs scan isn't until 3rd nov which seems so far away! Hence going for an early one, I hate not knowing if everything is okay. How is everyone feeling? How many of you are actually vomiting? I haven't but I feel so so sick

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 26/09/2015 22:28

Mine is then too! But have had a few scans due to bleeding and health problems. Awful sickness here and major boob ache! Everything smells horrendous too haha

ODog · 27/09/2015 06:54

Welcome grapefruit.

Hopefully your anniversary is a good omen for us daphne!

DS finally slept ok (2/3 wake ups just for dummy rather than up every hour) for the first time in a couple of weeks last night, although I did have to contend with DH shouting at the window to open the door at 2am as he forgot to take keys with him (he was at the rugby last night). Nonetheless I feel like a bit of a new woman today!

ParsnipSoup · 27/09/2015 07:23

Glad you got some sleep odog, it's amazing what a couple of uninterrupted hours can do to make you feel better.

Grapefruit I'm the same as you, feel really queasy but haven't actually been sick yet. I imagine that will start in a week or two...

Brenna24 · 27/09/2015 08:01

Welcome Grapefruit. I haven't actually been sick yet but I have had a couple of rough spells. If you haven't go them already get some SeaBands. Mine help hugely and I think if I wasn't wearing them I would be constantly nauseous and probably would have been sick by now. If I take them off I start feeling rough in about 5 minutes. With them on sometimes I feel fine, sometimes I feel a bit sick and only on about 3 occasions have I eve felt close to being sick.

Grapefruit8 · 27/09/2015 09:35

Glad it's not just me, I know it sounds daft but I keep wondering why I haven't been sick and if something is wrong? I know another lady mentioned feeling like this, so hard to keep track of this thread as there's so many of us! What's everyone's plans for today?

Grapefruit8 · 27/09/2015 09:40

Oh and icantthink I'm exactly the same with the smells thing! brenna I'm definitely going to try and get some of those bands as well Smile

ParsnipSoup · 27/09/2015 09:53

I've just had to leave a room that smells of freshly baked pastries. Surely that's supposed to be the nicest smell ever?

I'm off to the shops with a friend today to buy some more comfortable bras. I can't believe that it's only been one day since having a positive test. Trying not to get too excited too soon.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/09/2015 10:02

Ah the smells thing is horrible grapefruit & parsnip !

Mamama31 · 27/09/2015 10:06

I agree about smells....my beautiful Yankee car air fresher makes me want to vom!!! :( and actually every time I'm in the car I get nausea I think just the car smell and the motion.

Struggled to find anything I wanted for breakfast....just had toast with honey that I didn't really want...still feel a bit grim though. I am however looking forward to a roast chicken dinner later, seem to manage those ok! Prob be crackers for lunch. My appetite is pretty limited at the moment.

Wait4nothing · 27/09/2015 10:10

Hi guys - haven't checked in in a while! Busy busy at work.

Grey - I felt exactly the same last weekend (8 weeks) in that I had no symptoms and was panicking (I'd had mild cramps, sore boobs, dizzy spells and nausea, being sick a couple of times) m. I was so worried I booked an early scan (£60 I thought was very reasonable) and everything is great - we saw little babyish shapes blob and a heartbeat and she said everything looked healthy.
Next day my nausea came back! Now I'm wishing it away again. She put me at 8+2 when we went instead of 8+4 so I think my due date is 1st may! (Didn't have time to sort cycle length after coming off pill) definitely going to buy some bands today!

I've had my booking in (Thursday) and they booked my scan while I was there over the phone - letter came through yesterday. Midwife also sorted phone for prescription exemption thingy but tgat hasn't come yet. Scan is 16th October.

I've registered with a dentist (been in the area 18 months but struggled with nhs dentists - got one now with some lucky timing) and have an appointment end Nov.

Both our parents know but really excited to tell siblings after the scan. We're meeting them in person (all live over an hour away) so should be fun!

MollieRos · 27/09/2015 10:17

Congratulations Grapefruit!

Looks like scans are different in different places, as I thought they would be. I'll ring the midwife tomorrow and see what they say. I work in the same health centre as the midwives are based so I shall have to sneak in for my booking appointment without anyone seeing me. So a home visit would have been handy!

Lots of people experiencing sickness! I had a couple of days of feeling very queasy, but that seems to have stopped now. I was also feeling quite ropey generally- nothing specific, just not feeling great. I'm feeling pretty ok now though. I'm trying to think positive and I'm sure it's just that symptoms are fluctuating. I have really sore boobs so that's reassuring at least!

MollieRos · 27/09/2015 10:20

Oh, and everyone who has had a private early scan, did you just do an internet search to find local places? I'm feeling very stressed, worrying whether everything's ok, and my 12w scan seems like a very long way off. So maybe that would be a good option in a few weeks to get some reassurance.

Wait4nothing · 27/09/2015 12:33

Yeah just an Internet search for local towns/cities. We compared a few as prices varied (our nearby town was quite a bit cheaper than the nearest city - by £50)

We rang up and got an appointment the same day (in the evening after work.

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 27/09/2015 13:29

Hi everyone!! I am returned from our weekend of wedding festivities. I was obviously not as good at hiding pregnancy this time round as on the hen do as by the end of the night, someone asked me outright if I was preggers! Caught me a bit off guard but I admitted it. There was an awkward moment this morning when a bloke came up to my DH, shook his hand and said congratulations. DH looked at me very quizzically and then the bloke explained and said 'For your best man speech yesterday! Thought it was brilliant.'

For those who helped with the menu - avoided the Parma Ham and passed it over to the bloke sat next to me who was pleased for the extra! The White Choc mousse was cooked so that was okay. Ate that up! Was like eating mushy milky way.

SO glad we have so many happy scan stories reported - what did I tell you mamama?!?! Hope you've been able to relax a bit ever since!

DH and I are having a VERY lazy afternoon. Wedding has completely tuckered us out.

Muffin7 · 27/09/2015 14:15

Hi everyone. Can I ask about weight gain? Are we supposed to be gaining weight? I ask as I've actually lost a quarter of a lb. I'm a bit worried!!

JustMeAndHim · 27/09/2015 15:14

Hi ladies, can I ask some advice?

I think I'm 6+6 today and I literally feel like I'm bursting out of my bra, it's digging into my back and my boobs feel like they're going to explode. Anyone else got this? I thought it would be a way off before this happened but I don't want to be buying a new bra every two mins. Any suggestions on how much to go up in size? Should I refrain for now? As someone who has no boobs this is all out of my comfort zone!! I also feel like my stomach is rounding out already - does anyone else?

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/09/2015 15:26

Glad the wedding went well Toffee :)
Muffin I've also lost weight - but think that's due to the sickness, I found I put on weight from the second trimester.
JustMe we are due date buddies - I'm too 6+6 and thinking the same thing regarding boobs as my bras too tight, going to get a new one a size up tomorrow and see how I go from there onwards.

JustMeAndHim · 27/09/2015 15:29

Ooh that's exciting Can't. Have you had dates for your scan yet? My booking apt is the 5th, hoping to get my scan date then. Are you doing to go up cup and back size?

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 27/09/2015 15:54

I've had a few scans due to bleeding and health problems but have 12 week scan 5th November and booking appt next Monday :) going to go up cup and back, going to dig out a tape measure later on!

JustMeAndHim · 27/09/2015 15:57

Oh I'm sorry about that Can't. I hope it's plain sailing from here. Yes same here! Better see the damage Smile

Mamama31 · 27/09/2015 16:03

Thanks Toffee, and yes I have been able to relax but I will be nervous for the next one in 2wks time as it approaches! Just terrified it will go wrong at some point but I will put it out of my head and relax until it's coming up! Glad you enjoyed the wedding :)

Re bra's I have just gone a size up, and there's still a little room so they should do me for another while hopefully.

Wait4nothing · 27/09/2015 18:06

I've stuck with my size bra for daytime atm but bought some soft bras in a large at sainsburys that I wear at home. Not bursting out of it yet though.
