Congrats vap. Sounds like you have had a long journey. I have a 15mo DS (who is snoozing next to me in bed looking gorgeous right now) so we have a lot of the big stuff, will buy a few special bits for the new baby after the 12wk scan, all going well. I can hardly imagine him being my big boy if this sticks. I haven't told anyone apart from DH, but we probably will tell people if they guess from non drinking etc. I drunk a lot of soda and lime in my last pregnancy. Also becks blue is a pretty good non alcoholic beer.

PonderousTortoise · 30/08/2015 10:00

Yes congrats Vap! (And everyone!)

I don't think we'll need to buy anything - except potentially a bigger car - yikes!

I stopped drinking when pg with dc1 5 yrs ago and never got back into it, so no change there for me, but anyone who knows me will be surprised I'm not drinking coffee - usually dependent on a couple a day but can't bear the thought of it at the moment.

How are we all symptom-wise? I am not enjoying the constant nausea. Also have a cough/cold, lumpy and sore boobs, constantly too hot then too cold, bloated a lot and a bit of a dodgy tummy, and dry itchy eyes. Not sure how many of these pg stuff, or just coincidental, but all in all feeling fairly rough, although I know it could be a lot worse.

odog Dd was 21mo when ds was born and it was like overnight she turned from a baby to a big girl once I had the baby, v strange feeling. She was still a baby really, and I think I expected too much from her as she was suddenly the big sister. I try really hard now not to ever ask her to do something for ds because he's littler or anything like that, and let her feel little too, because I think she resents being the oldest and biggest sometimes.

ODog · 30/08/2015 10:08

sorry you are feeling so rough PT. I've started feeling a bit light headed and nauseous but I'm not sure if it's just in my head.

I try to parent as gently as possible so I like the idea of keeping him little for as long as possible. I always wanted a small ish age gap and its started to sink in that it really will be having 2 babies and not a baby and a toddler. Eg I fully expect DS to still be in nappies, still be co-sleeping, need sling time etc. so just going to need to find a way to do that for 2 babies at once - yikes!

PonderousTortoise · 30/08/2015 10:09

seeya I'm not sure how I feel about more baby groups actually! We were in London when I had dd and it was LOVELY - we just sauntered round primrose hill and Hampstead Heath eating cake and letting people coo at my baby, and I adored my NCT group who I saw weekly.

I think while older two are at school I will mostly be trying to rest/sleep but also where we are now is not so fun for ambling around and I found with ds that I didn't bond with first time mums so much, who were mostly at the groups, because it just is very different when you already have one to when it's all new. We'll see... There's lots of mums of big families at the playgroups round here, but I got to a point where I was fed up of playgroup!

Apologies, I'm being a bit negative here. I ought to go and get dressed and get going anyway. I think dd just took ds off to get him changed because I'm being so useless!

PearlyFish · 30/08/2015 10:57

Congratulations everyone!

Tentatively marking my place after a couple of early BFPs. EDD around 10th May Smile
Already have a DD3, who tells me that she is a "big girl", so feeling very ready for another.
I second the recommendation for Becks Blue - often other people don't even notice it's non-alcoholic, so it's a good option in the early days before you are ready to tell people.
I'm having quite a few symptoms, mostly intermittent mild nausea and upset stomach.
Will wait and see if I get a CB positive early next week before arranging a booking in appointment.

Vap0 · 30/08/2015 12:25

Don't be hard on yourself PT in sure your dd loves being helpful and will enjoy bossing the small ones about Smile.
P.s. I'm still in my pj's slobbing out in front of the TV 2 hrs after you posted and I'll bet you're dressed by now and found something constructive! Grin

I'm having almost no symptoms which is getting a little worrying. I do seem to have a headache a lot of the time (not today though so hoping it's over) but I'm putting that down to caffeine withdrawal - I'm a total diet coke addict (6-8 cans per day, although I seemed to have eased off it without realising a couple of weeks ago, shows your body does tell you what it wants and doesn't want). Not touched it since my confirmed test on Monday.

Slightly sensitive boobs but nothing like how sore and heavy they are before af.

I'm really looking forward to making some fiends locally, I'll try to get to as many of the groups as I can!

pt have you moved away from your old not friends?
I hope you do get to some not groups this time around. I hope to meet more experienced mums when I join groups! I don't want to be one of those new stressed out mums (like my brother and Sil) who is terrified every time they trip over or walk more than a foot away from me, i fear the new mums will be so over protective and it will be catching.

odog is light headedness a symptom? If so I'm getting that when I stand up from sitting, lying or picking things up. Thought I was just being a bit wobbly, we came back from a sailing holiday on Friday and just saw it as me getting my land legs back after the rough seas.

pt what kind of car bus are you looking at?

Vap0 · 30/08/2015 12:33

Welcome PFish
Sounds positive, hope you get your confirmation early next week.
Have you used a first response early results? I hear the cb are not very sensitive.
Everyone always talks about how great the frer are early on I always took it with a pinch of salt until I had my slight lines on ic's which with a sensitivity of 10mlu. First response don't say the sensitivity that I have read in the instructions but I had a far stronger positive with one of those than the 10mlu ic's.
Let us know how you get on Grin
I'm 7 days ahead of you and had a good positive at 3+6 which will be you tomorrow if I can count right.
Here is my pic from 3+6

FuzzyDucker · 30/08/2015 13:19

Hello! Bfp this morning, due around the 11th May! I already have one DS who will be 2 at the end of May so will be a pretty neat gap :)

I bet we'll end up with loads of people on here, the May group last year had over 100 on it! Seems to be a busy month!

FuzzyDucker · 30/08/2015 13:48

Odog - I have a size 7 woven wrap and can't wait to try a tandem carry!

With regards to drinking, I'm planning on saying I'm trying to stick to my healthy diet which only allows alcohol at weekends (I'm rubbish at this diet though!) and we actually only tend to meet friends at the pub mid week so I can be dieting/driving. However I don't think it'll be long before we tell people, last time we waited until 13 weeks! No way are we going to get away with that again.

dappledsun · 30/08/2015 16:25

hi ladies, congratulations all round Smile re-tested on Friday morning using my clearblue fertility monitor and the big "Pregnant" flashed up ... though BFN the day before I had spotting the week before that I was hoping was "implantation spotting" though I didn't get any symptoms when I got pregnant with DS.

ODog · 30/08/2015 17:12

fuzzy - I need to get into wovens as I think they will be easier to back carry with a bump/tandem with a new baby. Currently just use a connecta and a ring sling combo. Can't wait to try out some lovely newborn wraps as I never used a stretchy with DS -i should have as he was/is a Velcro one-- One of my nct pals is a babywearing consultant so I'll have to ask her for some help I think. We also have a similar age gap as my DS will be 2 at the start of next June.

FuzzyDucker · 31/08/2015 00:52

odog sweet :) wovens are great as you can adjust the tension all across them so they can be comfier than buckles once you've learned how to get them right. I had a stretchy with DS but think I'm going to go for a close caboo this time as they look quicker :) DS is still quite velcroey, when teething he will only nap in the sling. I'm hoping he matures a bit by next May so I don't have to lug two about all the time just to get them to nap!

Brenna24 · 31/08/2015 02:16

Hi all.

May I join in too, please? BFP on Friday morning. This is #1 for us. We got married in May and EDD for me would be around 7th May, so he is pretty much getting a baby for his first anniversary present if all goes according to plan. OH is very, very excited. My Bro and SIL are due at the end of February too and i am really happy we will be so close together. This will be their second, they have a 5yo ds already.

Right now I have backache, sore nipples and boobs and insomnia but thankfully no nausea yet.

Picolette · 31/08/2015 07:18

Same here!!! Grin Due 4th May. We saw all our family this wknd and was sooooo difficult not announcing news to everyone. Also feeling guilty & worried because before test mistook symptoms for pms and just calculated I had a couple of boozy nights and few espressos since conception. Confused

Mouthfulofquiz · 31/08/2015 07:39

Morning All!
I'm jumping on board too if that's okay?
EDD 1st of May, and this will be dc3. Have a 3yo and 16 month old DS, so still in a bit of shock...

Brenna24 · 31/08/2015 07:41

At this stage baby is still living off the yolk and will be just fine. Lots of the girls at work said they had a whoops moment when they found out they were pregnant. Don't fret about it. I had an implantation bleed last Tuesday, thought it was the start of an early period and stomped out upset to join my mates at the pub and had 2 pints. Then the bleeding stopped and didn't restart and I got my BFP on Friday.

Mouthfulofquiz · 31/08/2015 07:41

picolette I've had a lot of espressos and quite a bit of booze in the first couple of weeks as I didn't know... Oh well, these things happen, I wouldn't worry!

ODog · 31/08/2015 08:32

Welcome new joiners!

fuzzy my DS will only fall asleep for daytime naps in a sling (although I can now put him down once asleep thank god!). It occurred to me yesterday that if I have another unputdownable newborn, this may be difficult. Confused

Close caboos do look fab and actually my BW consultant friend advocates them a lot. Can't wait to feed my sling addiction! DH will have to believe they were just 'borrowed'. Although tye first thing he said about buying stuff was make sure you get a good newborn sling this time. Oh...ok DH I will get three!

Vap0 · 31/08/2015 09:58

It's all over for me
I'm bleeding Sad

Good luck to you all!

Picolette · 31/08/2015 10:16

Vap0 worst nightmare!! So sorry. Seek medical help before expecting the worst though. Thoughts are with you.

Picolette · 31/08/2015 10:18

Brenna24 & Mouthfulofquiz thanks so much for the reassurance.

Good luck everyone!!

ODog · 31/08/2015 10:33

So sorry vap. Hope you have lots of support in RL.

Brenna24 · 31/08/2015 10:59

Hugs Vap as Picolette said go and get checked over ASAP as it may not be as bad as you think.

I have had my first Drs appointment and I have my booking in the with midwife tomorrow. This is going really fast and feels quite real now.

dappledsun · 31/08/2015 11:46

Vap I'm really sorry, can you call your closest hospital maternity and ask to speak to a midwife for some advice?

Brenna24 we're due date buddies.

Feel a bit wuzzy and waking at 3.30am then struggling to go back to sleep - I don't remember that happening until 7 / 8 weeks with DS. I think in my case it's worry, can we get the house painted in time, where will the baby sleep, have I any hope of sorting out the jumble of clothes put away in the loft given I don't fancy climbing up there myself.

Oddly, DS keeps looking down my Tshirt and saying "baby?" "wah wah?" "baaaaybeeee!" which in front of other people may give the game away. We definitely haven't said a WORD although some of my friends with little ones his age have been having number 2 so may be that's what it is.

Drinking, hmmm, first timers there are other things that will give you away including:

  1. nobody examines packets of herbal tea quite like a pregnant woman
  2. dithering over pre-prepared salads
  3. being desperate to order pudding but worrying that each of the custardy or home made ice creamy puddings on the menu has raw egg
  4. suddenly cancelling plans for a long-awaited but exotic holiday somewhere a bit iffy
  5. Looking weirdly tired but happy or complaining about a sore back, sore head etc.
Brenna24 · 31/08/2015 13:19

Hi Dappledsun Cool, it is quite nice to have a due date buddy. You are not kidding about the ways to tell. My Bro and SIL have a game whereby if they suspect friends are expecting they invite them round for dinner and serve pate. It is a huge open secret/joke within family and friends. I work with a close knit group of mums and have coffee with them every day and go to yoga with them thursday lunchtimes. I have been open about the fact we are ttc. No way is this going to stay a secret for long. OH doesn't want to keep it a secret and I don't really care, so I don't think we are going to try to for long. I need to tell my boss before anyone else finds out, that seems only fair. After I have told him, I may play a game of 'let's see how long it takes before they figure it out' which will be fun. I need to slip up to yoga first and tell my teacher before the others arrive. That could get interesting.
